When Icelanders were turning Þorrablót into the holiday it is now they were very consciously trying to celebrate like heathens (að heiðnum sið) and full and minni were a big part of that, along with dressing in Viking garb and trying to follow something of a blót format. Since many of them were poets they did less shouting "hail!" and more singing and chanting.

At first this was in direct defiance of Danish religious laws. To be clear, everyone involved was Christian.

I believe this image is supposed to be Fornleifafélagið's first þorrablót in 1881 at Hótel Alexandra in Reykjavík but I'm not sure.

Their format was probably somewhat closer to a pre-Christian heathen blót than what we usually do, at least in the US. My experience in Iceland was that tends to more closely resemble this format when the attendance is high, and something that an American heathen would recognize when attendance is low.

It seems Thor was the most common recipient of these songs, probably because at the time they still believed in an etymological connection between Þorri and Þórr. Other Norse gods and even non-Norse gods like Bacchus, and also Christian religious figures are found in these early Þorrablót songs from the late 1800's and early 1900's. Gods were also toasted without songs, or at least without songs that we still have record of.

Una domanda per i cultori più esperti. C'è la possibilità che alcune storie de Gli Anni Muggenti di Clarabella pubblicate originariamente su Minni siano remake/rimontaggi di storie francesi?

Mi spiego: so che Gli Anni Muggenti si origina in Francia per poi essere adottata da Minni, pubblicando alcune storie francesi e poi realizzandone di originali (in stragrande maggioranza per i testi di Corteggiani). Il fatto è che ho notato un caso di una storia francese che INDUCKS segnala come mai arrivata in Italia, Les ours se suivent (F JM 96246) e della storia Un orso dietro l'altro (I M 56-2), che condividono sia il titolo che gli autori (Corteggiani e Nawa). Non avendo nessuna delle sue storie a disposizione, è possibile che sia l'una il remake/rimontaggio dell'altra, senza che ciò sia segnalato su INDUCKS?
