I just realized Hades x Minthe is one of my favorite greek mythology ships... So im going to talk about it.

How did they meet? Since nymphs are very nature focused and the house of hades isn't

It had been a few weeks since they had defeated Emet-Selch, and the Scions were still stuck on the First. Bits and pieces of the man still plagued Rowan as they sorted through their options. They were oft distracting and she felt as though she could be spending her time doing much more productive things than thinking of the idle lines of her sworn enemy.

The problem was mostly that Rowan didn't want to discuss with anyone else. At best there'd be pity that he had gotten into her head and affected her mental state. At worst, true concern that she'd been swayed into his cause. Not a very likely outcome, seeing as she threw a spear of light into his chest to kill him... but it wasn't outside the realm of possibility.

Remember us... remember that we once lived. Rowan was reluctant to. Truly, twas a sad thing for a civilization to pass, but if the remaining members were set on destroying those who came after, was it worth remembering? But she found that, and his little sung phrase on the cliff side of Khoulsia constantly haunting her.

Fine. Mayhap she'd keep good on her promise of writing that phrase into a song. It wouldn't be as though he'd ever hear the damn thing anyways.

She could even be negative. After all, he rarely did her a kindness. She'd be remembering him truthfully this way.

Blessed she who clearly sees the wood for the trees To obtain a bird's eye is to turn a blizzard into a breeze Rowan was mulling over that couplet when she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder. She still jumped. "Urianger!"

He smiled gently. "Indeed, tis I. Art thou well? I hath not seen nor heard from thee this entire day."

Rowan turned to the window. Even with night returned, she had lost track of time.

"I was, ah, writing something. It's been a bit difficult," she admitted.

"Is there aught thou wouldst like to discuss or is it a private matter? I could offer advice if -"

"It's private," she said quickly.

He nodded. If he was offended by Rowan's terse answer, he didn't show it. "Thancred and Ryne hath offered to share dinner with us. Wouldst thou care to join them or shall I leave thee to thy reverie?"

"I should probably eat." She stood from her chair and stretched. "I doubt I'll get anywhere close to completion tonight anyroad."

Urianger offered his arm with a smile and they left the words to be mulled over another time. She found it much easier to leave them with him around.

I need the Lore Olympus fandoms help

I am most certainly convinced that I made it all up in my head now. I have searched...skimmed through every episode looking for that ONE part of the story where hades says something along the lines of Persephone not being afraid of being seen, photographed or sleeping with him.

Did I make that up 😭😭??? Please tell me the episode!! I'm trying to do something here!!!! Otherwise please someone snap me out of it.

I really don't like how Melinoe looks like a female Hades with Persephone's pink eyes. It's too generic. Maybe keep her hair and eye colors, but maybe make her skin color a blend of both of them, like a muted purple/gray to contrast her with Dionysus? Anything other than what she has in canon.

What's wild is that the narrative is trying to convince us now that all of the dreams he had of him and Persephone were just peeks into the future. But if that's the case-

1.) Melinoe learns to communicate verbally at some point

2.) There's ANOTHER BABY we haven't even established yet (though Rachel did confirm in a tweet from ages ago that it's some god named Brimos who she read about in a book when she was a kid ???):

(but Brimo was an epithet associated with Hecate/Persephone/other gods of the dead, not necessarily an actual direct offspring of H x P, so... yeah, weird choice of a 'nod' especially now that she's trying to implement Hades' dreams into the plot as 'future sight' or w/e)

3.) All of the visions of their future together feature children that predominantly resemble Hades, not Persephone. This is really telling as to how much the relationship - both on a narrative level and even a visual one - revolves around Hades. Persephone is just an accessory, to the point that none of their children can resemble her in any major way, only through very miniscule references, such as the vines coming out of Melinoe's back and her pink eyes (whereas "Brimos" doesn't resemble her at all).

4.) This goes hand-in-hand with #3, but Dionysus and Thanatos are not present in any of these visions. I'm willing to give Thanatos a pass because he's an adult man (although it does just go to show how little Hades views him as a child), but what about Dionysus? Does his absence from these scenes tell us that Persephone found other accommodations for him? Or, more likely, is it because Rachel never planned to include Dionysus in the first place? And of course, Dionysus' design is also inherently linked to Hades, because while he has purple skin (referencing wine/grapes/etc.) he's got white hair that's explained as a genetic trait that's been passed down through Hades.

All that said, the baby plotlines in LO are a mess in and of themselves, and you can tell just how much of it revolves around Persephone "fixing" Hades or being the solution to all of his infertility and relationship problems. Persephone is the most perfect woman of all who Hades is dependant on to solve all of his problems, everything is about what she can provide him and what he can stand to gain from her, even if it means dragging her down to his level.

Man. Minthe was right.

YESSS. I am so against lore olympus. The fans are terrible. They once attacked someone for liking mythology Apollo and they acted as if LO was the ‘original source’. Persephone is like just a mary sue and she is short and drawn like a toddler 💀 like she is 1/3 Hades’ height. Hades also just groomed Persephone and she is a home wrecker. Hera is just overly mean for no reason and them pathetic. And the marriage scene is just diabolical 💀 it wasn’t even a greek wedding but a christian one 😭

LO RANT (MASSIVE TRIGGER WARNING):

Okay my rant for today is going to go into somewhat of a triggering topic which is abuse and normally I try to just be very vague about the more heavier things on Lore Olympus when ranting about them just so I don’t have to say the actual words or acts or anything but unfortunately for this rant it’s going to really be hammering into the more abusive side of Hades because this sort of situation between the fans have really been irking me badly.

I absolutely hate it when fans try and say that Hades is not abusive and all of his behaviors are just justified and excused because of all of the things he’s been through. The main argument I’ve seen with this topic is that he’s not an abuser because he’s never abused Persephone or Minthe or any of the women he’s been in a relationship with and honestly this sort of mindset is so incredibly flawed and sort of ignorant in the nicest way possible since abuse comes in many different forms believe me I know. You can be verbally abused, emotionally abused, sexually abused, and more it’s not only domestic violence and I just wish more fans would be aware of that and not just count domestic violence as a valid type of abuse (which granted I completely get and in no way am I saying that it shouldn’t be something that’s a form of abuse that shouldn’t be validated).

That way of thinking just makes no sense at all, if abuse only mattered in intimate relationships then abusive parents, teachers, counselors, etc wouldn’t be considered or validated at all. Just because he doesn’t hit women does not make his actions any less abusive, we’re talking about the man who constantly talks down on and willfully uses violence on those who cannot fight back. He has no problem exploiting his own citizens and cutting off their resources and transportation between realms at the drop of a penny and he definitely does not care about the well being of those who have to work for him. He’s an abusive asshole and his actions are absolutely heinous and incredibly distasteful.

Honestly this just makes me ask the question of why, why is Rachel even putting these elements in her story anyways if she’s not going to address it or try to explore these disgusting aspects of our very society. I’m sorry y’all but I do not believe that she doesn’t believe in half of the things she writes about, normally if someone does not agree with problematic elements in their story they’ll make it a point to try and point out its flaws or at the very least show people that “hey, please do not glorify xyz” you know? Like there’s evidence of the creator actively going against the things that they don’t agree with yet Rachel has never come out to say anything. She doesn’t address any of these problematic choices in her own story and instead of actually doing things with them she just keeps them in the story for no fucking reason. The nymphs (who are the lower class might I add and also make up the uncomfortable fantasy racism) should not be sexualized and used as objects for male pleasure. The satyrs and other non gods that live amongst Olympus and the Underworld should not be shown to be in hostile situations by their bosses for literally no other reason other than a few laughs. Persephone should not be sexualized by Rachel every other fucking panel, can we please talk about that soon because it’s getting fairly obvious that Rachel is just using Persephone only to be ogled at and heavily sexualized. The age gap never should’ve happened because again Rachel herself makes it a damn point to remind everyone that Lore Olympus is literally just a “cute” minor x adult fanfic, the whole thing reminds me of lolis and how people defend that shit by saying that they’re adults. And even more stuff but that would be about 400,000 words long at this point.

Anyways, I just want to end this by saying I’m not terribly angry at fans I’m just disappointed and honestly kind of annoyed I wish they would actually reread the things that they’re supporting and defending and actually start to think about what the comic is saying instead of just blindly going along with it. Another point is I do not believe Rachel is the best person and I’d love it if we could finally hold her accountable because I’m sorry but if she genuinely sees no problem with half of this stuff and she’s spreading it around in her award winning 4 million reader comic while there’s an entire fucking community trying to tell her how absolutely harmful and shitty the content is (that she keeps ignoring for a fucking reason might I add) I don’t find myself having much hope that she’s not a bad person, and maybe I am wrong although I genuinely don’t think I am because normally with good people you don’t have to keep wandering and convincing yourself that they’re good since they do that for you by their actions and how she’s been carrying herself these past years have not shown me otherwise.

Edit: With this rant though I do not want to incite any harassment or bullying Rachel’s way because that’s nowhere at all where I was trying to get when I said she needs to be held accountable. Harassment and cyber bullying is genuine asshole behavior and something I really don’t tolerate and besides there’s better ways to hold Rachel accountable that doesn’t require that kind of stuff.

While I do believe some of the criticism LO receives in terms of story are understandable because there's some things that could be better in the story I also cant help but notice that other things talked abour when regarding LO are more personal opinions and just consist on spewing pure hate from people who only focus on some minor details or downright has nothing better to do than shit on the comic, its characters or creator.

1. Persephone isn't a Mary Sue, sure she's kind, friendly and always wants to do the right thing but she still has flaws and makes mistakes like her driving without a liscence, giving money to the shades, keeping secrets, her acting violent even if she has reason to (cough Asspollo cough) or smirking at Ares getting his ass wrecked by her mom. People still scold her for some of the things she does but not as harshly because she isn't a reckless teen but an adult. All the main characters in the story are adults so they are gonna act like it, not like hormonal teens . Plus regarding her trial, Persephone knows she deserves to face the consequences for what she did but she was afraid of the Trial cause it wasn't done with intention to seek righteous justice but to show people that Zeus was the leader of Olympus. The main difference between Kore and Minthe is that while both are insecure about themselves, Persephone doesn't take it out on others and instead tries to improve herself whereas Minthe likes to cause damage to others; she literally likes talking shit of people, endagered Persephone by sending her to Tartarus just so she couldn't see Hades and put Demeter on danger too with the Trial,not just Persephone. And no, the comic didn't do her dirty as she got and took a chance for self improvement and cut off her toxic friend for good.

2. Hades may be rich but he's no Christian Grey. Sure he likes Persephone but he respect her boundaries and treats her like a person and not a possesion like Asspollo, he literally said that he wasn't entitled to her in the 1st season. Sure he's not a perfect saint but he's not a monster either, he didn't fire Minthe or took away her apartment even if he could have after she physically and verbally abused him at work using one of his deepest fears and he did apologize to Thanatos for his treatment of him.

3. Thanatos, Minthe and Zeus aint assholes just for not liking Persephone x Hades, the story doesn't treat them as a monsters for dislikng Persephone but are still shown to be dicks due to how they treated her and Hades as well as others. Minthe greatly disliked Persephone out of jelaousy to the point of endagering her by sending her to Tower 4, liked to rub in her face that Hades was hers uncaring if Hades didn't like it and she tried to get her on Trial by painting her as a villain in the story they told Zeus which affected not only Kore but Demeter as well and also abused Hades. But they still have her a chance to redeem herself and bettering herself as we saw in s3 and she's doing much better now.

Thanatos outright didn't like Persephone, the 1st time they met was when he shoved her with his wings to take the train but even then Kore didn't treat him badly, she even shared her baklaba with him. And what does he do later? Basically insulting her in front of Hecate calling her a moron. While he may be right about Hades maybe being in the wrong for letting her work in the library as she's shown to struggle with stuff on her 1st day that didn't mean he had the right to wotk with Minthe and Thetis to ruin Persephone's life just out of jelaousy and wanting the love of Minthe. He maybe regretted his actions but it doesn't erase them. At the very least hes doing better now with a better partner than Minthe.

Zeus's Trial was wring because he didn't seek justice but to show everyone hes the boss of Olympus even if it meant delivering barbaric and undeserved punishments. He was a dick to Persephone in her Trial alongside her mom, going so far as gaslighting Demeter when she brought up his mistreatments of her. He had reasons to do what he did and we can understand it but he still unnecesarily prolonged Persephone's banishment even if she did everything that was asked of her right which wasn't only affecting her or hades but everyone as well cause they couldn't visit their loved ones and the situation in Olympus wasn't great not only that but tried to get Hades to forget about Persephone with Euridice. But at the very least when Kore saved everyone from Kronos, Zeus lifted her punishment and allowed Hades and Persephone to get married.

4. Demeter isn't a great mom but shes not a cruel monster, she was just lonely and wanted some company so she gave birth to Kore. And despite her shortcomings as a mother, she loves her daughter but deep down wants her to be safe as she knows how cruel the world can be. Of course this doesn't excuse her treatment towards Kore but as weve seen theyre trying to work things out between Kore and Demeter so there's hope for them

If you ask me, most of the "LO Critical" crowd's criticism towards the Webtoon consists of them hating the source material for not playing out how they want/ed it to, going on non-stop about Persehade's age gap romance and calling a relationship between two consenting adults "pedophilia" (the haters sure love to infantilize Persephone), and bashing the author as a person over fiction.
