Imagine being Camilo's oldest friend and him suddenly realising his feelings for you. He panics, not a clue how to tell you but la familia Madrigal is there to help him

You and Camilo had been inseparable since you were kids. You met on the first day of school and found each other hilarious becoming fast friends. When Camilo found out your family ran a restaurant that was when he knew it was a match made in heaven. The boy loved food and frequently helped out at your restaurant so he could have access to the leftover food. As you got older you were still as close as ever and your friendship went from strength to strength. You helped Camilo master his gift and became known around the village as mischievous pranksters. You were close to Camilo's family and you were around the Madrigals so frequently there was a joke the casita would give you a room at the next ceremony, not Antonio. All this to say there was a lot of feelings between yourself and Camilo Madrigal but you weren’t aware of all them.

One day said Madrigals were eating breakfast when they heard the door slam open. "Where is she?" they heard a voice cry and knew it was you from the grin on Camilo's face. "In here" he called and you appeared and your eyes went straight to Isabela. "I heard the news" you grinned "Mariano huh?". Isabela rolled her eyes "eugh did Camilo put you up to this?". Camilo burst into laughter "see the great thing about our friendship is I actually didn't. Y/n reacted this way all on her own because she's got the best sense of humour". "You're only saying that because you have the same sense of humour, you're literally the same person" Luisa explained and you and Camilo shrugged, you really couldn't argue with that. "You're being awfully quiet Isa" you said bringing the conversation back to the topic at hand "are you just so excited to marry that big hunk you're speechless". "Aww she is y/n, bless how cute" Camilo said patting Isabela on the head. You joined in making cooing noises and Isabela pushed you both away "eugh you two are unbearable!" she cried and stormed from the room. "Isabela wait!" Camilo called and she paused turning back around...to see Camilo had transformed into Mariano. You let out a loud laugh and found it hilarious as Camilo chased her. "Wait Isabela please don't leave me!" Camilo cried and you grinned "Isabela you're being rude, your fiance is trying to talk to you". "She's breaking my heart!" Camilo said sinking to his knees and you laughed joining in "how could you Isabela? All he ever wanted was to love you!". In response Isabela shot a stream of flowers at you which covered you in petals. Camilo (still pretending to be Mariano) gasped "Isabela my love is that you?". "It is I, Isabela" you cried flicking your hair around in an insulting imation which Isabela did not approve of. She groaned and slammed the door as you and Camilo continued imitating her and Mariano, inventing up scenarios are you went. Luisa watched pretty entertained when Mirabel appeared, she'd heard Isabela slam her door and knew something juicy must be happening. "What's going on?" Mirabel asked Luisa who hesitated "well it started off as Camilo and Y/n teasing Isabela but now it's turned into Camilo and y/n...playing wedding?". She frowned at where the two of you were now skipping arm in arm even though Isabela had left. Dolores shrugged "seems about right for them". You and Camilo continued on, oblivious to anyone else. Lost in your own world. The next day Isabela, Dolores and Mirabel were all gathered in the courtyard. Although casita had been almost fully repaired there were still some improvements to be made and the girls were eager to start. They just needed one thing or more accurately one person...Camilo. They'd sent him into town to pick up the stuff they needed over an hour ago and still he hadn't returned. Delaying the whole project and making everyone frustrated with the shapeshifter. So when he finally appeared the girls were a little restless. "Where have you been?" Mirabel asked as soon as Camilo was close enough and Camilo paused "getting those supplies from town, you do remember asking me to get them right?" Camilo asked sarcastically. Mirabel rolled her eyes "yes but you were an hour! A trip into town should take you like 20 minutes". "Sorry I got sidetracked" Camilo shrugged putting his bags on the workbench. "What he means is he spent most of his time talking" Dolores cut in and Camilo jumped "why do I even try and lie with you around?". "You're so sweet" Dolores replied smiling at her brother. "Wait so you spent almost 40 minutes talking?" Isabela asked "why am I not surprised?". "Hey it's not my fault, I was on my way to the shop and then y/n came up to me and..." but Camilo never got to finish his sentence. "Ahhh that explains it" Isabela said cutting him off and the others laughed leaving Camilo confused "it does?". Mirabel nodded "completely" and Dolores nodded "yup". Camilo frowned "erm can someone please explain why?". "Because y/n is your number one distractor, you never get anything done when she's around". Camilo nodded "well yeah she's my best friend, the person I find the most interesting". Mirabel smiled "Aww that's so sweet!" and Dolores rolled her eyes "it would be if he actually opened up to her about how he feels". Isabela nodded "it would save so much time and the endless flirting could stop". "Flirting?" Camilo asked "Y/n and I don't flirt". His cousins and sister all shot him a look before they burst out laughing. "We don't!" Camilo cried and Dolores raised an eyebrow "it's all the two of you do around each other". "Yeah it's your way of expressing your feelings for one another without actually having to say anything" Isabela nodded. "wait what? What feelings?" Camilo asked and Isabela rolled her eyes "don't act like you don't have any clue what we're saying. We all know you're smitten with y/n, you don't exactly hide it so it can't be news to you". Camilo just stared in response and Dolores paused "hmmm maybe he didn't know he's in love with her". "Nah come on you're just messing with us right?" Mirabel asked and Camilo put a hand to his head "oh my god...I'm in love with y/n! How did I never realise before?".

Camilo then began to rant and Isabela frowned "and we broke him". Camilo began to get more and more erratic until Dolores slapped him "pull yourself together!" she cried shaking him by the poncho "this isn't a bad thing little brother". "Yes it is! This changes everything, now whenever I see her I'm going to remember this and be all weird around her. Our friendship will never be the same and it's all your fault!" he cried. "Okay before we start blaming and shaming why don't we consider the positive outcome that could come from this?" Mirabel asked. Camilo just stared at her and she sighed "you and y/n could become a couple". Camilo blushed and his hair turned lighter just at the thought of it. "I mean hypothetically but that's the *best case never would happen in a million years* scenario". "What makes you say that?" Dolores asked and Camilo shrugged. "Y/n just sees me as a friend, I mean that's all we've ever been. Surely if she liked me she would've said something?". "I don't know...the two of you are pretty similar so if you didn't work out you liked her all this time...". "Then it's possible y/n hasn't either" Dolores nodded. "Or she has known this entire time and is just waiting for you to fess up" Isabella added "that's what I'd do". Mirabel nodded "okay so in either of these two scenarios we just have to make y/n aware of your feelings for her". Camilo gulped turning pale "you mean like...a love confession?". "Woah woah calm down" Dolores said as he began to sway in fear. "It's not that terrifying" Dolores explained and Isabella nodded "yeah I've received tons". "We get it you're pretty!" Mirabel cried and Isabela rolled her eyes "what I meant was because I've received so many I can help Camilo write one, tell him what to do and not to do". "Wait you're going to help me?" Camilo asked and his cousins and sister shot him a look. "Duh!" Isabela cried "there's a very good chance y/n likes you back! There's no way we're letting her get away, you'll never get someone as good as that!". "What Isabela means" Mirabel cut in "is that the two of you are perfect for one another and we want to help in any way we can". Camilo nodded and a small smile appeared on his face "okay, I'm feeling a little more confident now. Maybe with your guys help we can pull this off". Dolores shot him a look "are you kidding? We're going to put on a show so great you and y/n will be together in no time!".

So the preparations began in earnest and everyone pitched in to help. Luisa moved the gazebo from town into the back garden to create a nice space for Camilo to sit you down for a talk. Isabela created a sea of flowers around the gazebo, with vines and flowers covering the structure's walls to add a touch of romance to the scenery. Antonio arranged for the cutest animals to stick around and was also on Pepa duty. This involved him staying by his mother's side all day so he could cheer her up with his cuteness if anything bothered her, guaranteeing the two of you wonderful sunshine all day. Julieta cooked an amazing three-course meal and Bruno promised to keep his rats away from the gardens all day. Agustín was nearby where he was "practising" his piano playing when in reality Dolores had helped him select the most romantic songs to play on a loop. His family had put a lot of effort into this and Camilo felt prepared...then Dolores called you were walking up the hill and his legs turned to jelly. "I don't think I can do" he groaned and Isabela rolled her eyes "we did not go to all this effort for you to back out!". "But I can't do it! What if she laughs at me or doesn't like me back?". "Camilo she's nearly here!" Dolores called and Isabela sighed. "Camilo she's your best friend, she would never laugh at you for sharing your feelings with her and as for the last part...that's very unlikely to happen". "Unlikely isn't certain though!" Camilo cried "maybe I should ask Bruno to run a prophecy really quick". "No she's here you have to...eugh! Right listen well because I'll only ever say this once, got it?" Isabela cried. Camilo nodded and Isabela took a deep breath "you're not awful Camilo". Camilo gasped "that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me!"."I know and if you tell anyone I'll shove flowers down your throat!" Isabela warned. "Camilo she's outside!" Dolores yelled and Camilo went to go to the door before looking back. "You really think she'll like me back?" he asked. Isabela smiled "I'm 99% sure but there's only one way to find out" and Camilo opened the front door. "Woah what's all this?" you asked as Camilo led you outside and he ran a hand through his hair nervously. "Ow it's nothing, I just thought we could sit outside today and hang out". Your eyes widened as you noticed all the details and how all Camilo's family must've helped with this. "Sure...is there a special occasion or something I forgot about?". "Nope" Camilo said smiling but his smile seemed a little more forced than usual. You shrugged though and decided Camilo would surely tell you if it was that important. Half an hour later you were extremely worried for Camilo's health. He must've hit his head or something because he was not acting like himself. He was acting really serious and couldn't seem to relax. Every couple of minutes he would look around anxiously and he kept tapping his hands as if he was waiting for something. Getting a little panicked you just decided to ask what was wrong. "Are you okay?" you asked "you seem nervous and I've honestly never seen you nervous before". Camilo blushed " yeah I'm okay there's just something I've got to tell you and I'm not sure how it's going to go". You frowned "ow no what is it?" before you gasped "Bruno had a vision and I'm dying? Or Bruno had a vision and you're dying? Wait we're both dying and this is our last day on earth?" you asked babbling all the things that could be wrong that involved death. "Nobodies dying!" Camilo cried cutting you off and you paused "then what is it?". "I erm...well it's come to my attention that apparently I haven't noticed something. Everyone says it's really obvious but I didn't realise until they told me and now I can't stop thinking about anything else..". You stared "what? Camilo what do you mean? Who is everyone and what did they tell you that's so groundbreaking? I know you're great at drama but this is getting intense" you smirked. Camilo decided to just come out with it "I like you y/n! A lot...as more than friends and I'm pretty sure I'm in love with you". Your smirk fell away and you stared at Camilo not saying anything. Camilo's hands were shaking and he couldn't look you in the eye. "I have for a while but I had no idea until my cousins and sister were teasing me and then when they said it I realised it was totally true. I like you y/n and have for years". "Like romantically?" you asked and Camilo sighed, this wasn't the response he'd been looking for. "Yeah" he nodded eventually "but it's okay if you don't feel the same way". You were silent for so long Camilo was brave enough to look up and he saw you staring at the floor. "Y/n?" he asked wincing as he waited for your next words of rejection. "I can't believe it" you said and he nodded, here it came the disgust and can we just be friends speech. "How are we both so stupid we never realised?" you asked and Camilo nodded "it's okay I totally understand...wait what?". You shook your head "you said how it took your family teasing you for you to realise how you felt and I can't believe were both that stupid, how blind were we?" you asked laughing. Camilo paused "wait you're saying, does this mean...?". You blushed as he trailed off and nodded "I like you too Camilo. When you told me it was like I got hit with this wave of emotion and I realised I felt the exact same way. I think I've liked you for so long I just didn't know that feeling was more than friends but I do now". Camilo was shaking even more than before and he was so overjoyed he had no idea what to do! His hair was turning yellow and he couldn’t contain all the energy he had. "Yes!" he cried jumping up and he rapidly transformed into different forms bouncing up and down. Finally you had enough, you grabbed him and yanked his face down to yours so you could kiss him. Camilo melted into the kiss and his surprise and nerves were quickly overwhelmed with how great this felt. "Yay! Congratulations!" Luisa cried and you turned to see all of Camilo's family cheering on the porch. You blushed going bright red "oh my god, they all knew about it?". Camilo nodded "yep, after they exposed my feelings to me they helped arrange all of this so I could tell you. I couldn't have done it without them". You smiled "that's so sweet, your family is amazing". Camilo nodded "yeah we are pretty great aren't we?" and you pushed him with your shoulder laughing. "But you're even better" he added and you blushed, made worse by the fact all of Camilo's family heard and began to "aww" over the two of you. "Stop it" you cried laughing and buried your face against his front. Camilo chuckled and wrapped his arms around you "never, now I've realised my feelings for you I'm not going to let a day go by without telling you how I feel about you, you're my everything y/n". You looked up "have your family gone back inside?". Camilo glanced over your head before nodding "yep all gone, why?". In reply you just kissed him once more and let the beautiful sunset wash over your amazing day. ____________ I really like the idea that Camilo's hair would change according to his mood. It would be a touch of Pepa's gift but also fit with his whole shapeshift when nervous thing.

Fic rec of the week from March 27th to April 9th

Happy easter! Chocolate is life so I'm so happy and I'll totally gain weight again. As for you, instead of chocolate I'm giving you links to my favorites fics of the week!

The first one is called Still just you and me, and is about Agustín and Pepa's friendship. In there, Pepa gets jealous because Agustín got a new friend and he's forgetting his promises to her.

It's a pretty simple but cute story that really touched my heart! I wasn't sure before starting but I love how it's about Pepa and Agustín only, without Félix and Julieta being part of the friendship. They're best friends and it feels!

The second one is Dreamlight Miracle, by @egofan4evr, a Reader story (platonic) crossover between Dreamlight Valley and Encanto.

It has been started last year, before Encanto was announced in Dreamlight valley. At the time we honestly thought it would take a long time before we gets any Encanto character in Dreamlight Valley...I guess we were wrong XD That fic also made me want to start playing Dreamlight Valley because it seemed so fun.

I was honestly afraid she would stop it, so I'm happy she decided to continue it and having it be an Alternate universe where you're getting Mirabel a different way than in the game. I like her way by the way, it's really fitting the Encanto characters. For now she posted a short chapter before she continuse and I can't wait to see how she'll adapt it with what we have in canon.

The last one is A pilgrim's kiss by @theglareyousee and is about Mariano and Dolores and Shakespeare works.

I'm not a native english speaker so the Shakespeare kind of language gives me headaches. I mean... "This love feel I, that feel no love in this. Dost thou not laugh?" I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN, SPEAK ENGLISH!

There though it was alright! Especially since it's only quotes said by Mariano as a way to be romantic. I love how it serves as showing he isn't compatible with Isabela, but is with Dolores because she's the one to know and understand poetry on the contrary of Isabela who doesn't understand it at all.

It's cute and very fitting, a must read!

Since Mirabel is a mama’s girl and Luisa is a dad’s girl when who does Isabela bond/favorite? Pepa? Since they dance in We don’t talk about Bruno and have similar dancing?

I think that Isabela, as a firstborn, was the apple of the eye of both Julieta and Agustin. Then Luisa came along and she became an instant papa's girl. Then a few years later Mirabel came along and she became an ultimate mama's girl. I think Isabela might have become more distant from her parents after her gift ceremony, and then it got progressively worse over the years.

But I also think she's still both her parents' pride and joy. But also, I think that she was Abuela's favourite after Mirabel didn't get a gift. And Alma probably was the closest to Isa (after Dolores, Dolores was always her closest family member) until the whole arranged relationship happened and then they drifted apart as well.

All in all, I think Isa was both her parents' girl and as she got older, she became Abuela's girl. But I also think Isabela wasn't close to any adult at the point when the movie happened. She seems to be good at keeping her emotions at bay and she always wore a mask of a mature woman while inside she was still a rebellious child who wanted to have fun. So she remained close with Dolores, though the whole Mariano situation put a stray on their friendship as well.

Disney Modern AU: some more Encanto characters

I got bored, so here's some more modern AU with Encanto side characters!

Note: I’ll do Mariano, Señora Guzmán and Osvaldo’s modern stories in a different post!

Alejandra

Alejandra Pezmuerto lived with her mother, Ozma Pezmuerto, and her father.

Since she could walk, the girl struggled to sit still and keep quiet, interrupting conversations and constantly moving her arms or legs whenever she did sit.

This caused quite a few problems for her parents, unable to manage their daughter sometimes.

When she was 4, Alejandra was diagnosed with ADHD. This explained quite a bit for her parents.

But despite her diagnosis, Alejandra was able to enroll and attend elementary school.

She quickly met two of her new classmates, Juancho and Cecilia, and the three quickly became friends.

While Cecilia sometimes couldn’t handle Alejandra constantly talking and walking all over the place, the two and Juancho formed a strong friendship.

But later in the school year, the three kids noticed a boy sitting all alone in class. He seemed lonely, and the teacher didn’t seem to notice it. So the three kids invited him to sit with them!

The boy accepted, though he seemed quite shy.

But soon enough, the boy started to talk to them, and introduced himself as Antonio.

Alejandra, Juancho and Cecilia soon became friends with him, and the four kids formed a strong friendship!

But one day, Antonio was really sad. He didn’t look at them, and seemed like he could burst into tears any moment…

Alejandra, Cecilia and Juancho tried cheering him up with coffee, but that didn’t do much…

Later, Antonio told them that his favorite prima, Mirabel, had left the family and moved to another country, somewhere far away!

Alejandra, Juancho and Cecilia hugged their friend while he bursted into tears, telling him that its okay to cry and that he still had them. They all three may be only-children, but they couldn’t imagine their parents suddenly leaving them and moving somewhere else…

Luckily, Antonio did get better after Juancho gave him a cup of coffee, and Alejandra talking about her mother’s goldfish.

Overal, despite some ups and downs, Alejandra wouldn’t trade her three friends for anything!

Juancho

Juancho lived with his mother and father, who didn’t really pay that much attention to him, at all. Sure, they gave him food, clothing and shelter and all the necessities, but they just left him to his own devices.

This caused the boy to wander all over the city, all by himself, feeling quite lonely. Thank goodness nothing happened to the kid…

He also started to drink coffee, lots and lots of coffee. Not that that’s concerning, many kids drink coffee in Colombia. It’s just the amount that worried adults…

Whenever people in Bogotá see the boy in question, he’s always wandering by himself with a full cup of coffee in his hands. Which always made adults ask; “Where are his parents?!”.

It wasn’t when Juancho started elementary school when it finally stopped.

That didn't stop the teachers from being concerned though. Some of them even considered calling CPS because they have literally never seen the boy's parents with him. But he wasn't abused and really seemed to be happy fine, so...

In school, the boy quickly made friends with two girls, Alejandra and Cecilia.

After the three kids met and befriended Antonio, Juancho would sometimes give him a cup of coffee to drink. While Antonio didn't like it, he appreciated the gesture.

While his parents barely acknowledged him, Juancho was happy to have his three friends by his side! They were his real familia, even when they were all 5 years old.

Cecilia

Cecilia lived with her single father, her mother having left the family for another man shortly after Ceci was born...

It hit her Papá quite hard, but he tried his best to raise his daughter.

Cecilia herself didn’t feel the absence of her mother…yet. She just knew that her Papá would always be there for her.

In elementary school, she quickly befriended two kids named Alejandra and Juancho. The two could sometimes be hyperactive and annoying, but Cecilia managed. She didn't want her best friends to be any different.

When she and her friends met and befriended Antonio, the four kids often had play-dates at Ceci's house. Alejandra's parents couldn't handle four kids, even for a few hours. Juancho's parents were barely home. And Antonio's parents were mostly working and his siblings didn't want three more kids in the house unless Mirabel was there to look after them. Ceci's father was happy to let the three kids in his house, happy to see his daughter having friends.

Cecilia was quite happy as well. She had an amazing papá, and three friends who are always there for her!

Señora Pezmuerto

Ozma actually went to high school with the triplets.

While she became friends with Pepa (who she was still friends with) and got along with Julieta, she despised Bruno. Something about that weirdo just irritated her, and she and Pepa often gossiped about him.

Time passed, and Ozma eventually got a job as a ichthyologist in one of Bogotá’s aquariums.

On the weekends whenever they were both free from their work, Ozma and Pepa would meet up at a café to catch up and gossip about the latest drama. This continued even after the two women got married to their respected husbands and had their families.

She eventually got married to her husband, and after many years of trying, they got a daughter who they named Alejandra.

Ever since their daughter could walk, Ozma and her husband struggled to manage her. Alejandra couldn’t sit still for more than 5 minutes, constantly talked and interrupted people, and just couldn’t keep quiet.

When their daughter was 4, Ozma and her husband took her to the doctor, because her hyperactiveness clearly wasn’t normal for a toddler.

Turned out that Alejandra had ADHD. It explained a lot for the parents, and they vowed to be there for Alejandra when things got tough for her, especially when she would start school.

Eventually, Alejandra did start school. And to Ozma’s surprise, it actually went pretty good for her daughter! She made two friends, and she was really happy!

Sure, there would be some struggles in the future, but Ozma and her husband were sure it would all turn out okay in the end.

Having Teenage!Mariano as Teenage!Dolores right hand man in the Teenage Ninjas Organization, it would destroy the attempt of an arrange marriage that Alma would try to set up for Isabela and Mariano to be together.

Like Mariano was a KND operative who defected into the Teenage Ninjas organization, then he scouted Dolores when she was going to turn into a teen. Bro developed a crush on her through out the months that they have worked together, got genuinely sad when Dolores got promoted to right hand man. Straight up fell in love with her after she took over the Teenage Ninja Colombian branch for her family and community, then got chosen by Dolores to be her right hand man.

Even though he has his own duties, Mariano still makes time to take care of Dolores so that she won’t overwork herself and have time with her family. Whenever she would get sensory overload be it at HQ or at the village, Mariano would get her somewhere silent with earmuffs and tea as he would let her lean on him to help keep her grounded.

He has a great friendship with Mirabel and Camilo, even though the nasty looks and getting threatened by the twins of Encanto if he hurt Dolores is anything to go by. But at least Mirabel and Camilo are willing to help him to ask her out, their payment is candy lots of candy (gotta respect the hustle for sweets).

Honestly??? Mariano is an absolute chad lets be real. Bro has been helping Dolores out since the beginning, he the Day One Fr Fr‼️‼️. But jokes aside, he is a real one. Brent brought thick and thin, and look where he is now, second most powerful in the sector🏃‍♀️💨💨💨

Kudos to Mirabel and Camilo looking out for Dolores, they know Mariano would and will only treat her well, but they still looking out for her <333 love how they manage to get sweets out of him 😭 AND HE’S GIVE IT TO THEM NO HESITATION 💀

Since you complimented my work privately, I want to compliment your work publicly! I love the way you wrote protective!Camilo towards Dolores in C&C, because even though she’s older than him it’s still better than the way the rest of the fandom writes about it. Because he actually cares about not hurting her feelings and has a good reason to protect her because he thinks Mariano is genuinely leading her on, rather than “my sister can’t have a boyfriend because I say so somehow!” So it doesn’t feel like reducing women to property whose sexualities are gatekept by men, especially because Camilo respects women to hell and back which I find really sweet. 🥰 Although I still found it funny how he said he was working out just so he could land a punch on Mariano lol. I also love how he isn’t ashamed of his feminine side. Second of all I love the way you wrote Dolores and all of the Afrolatina characters in general, especially Cristal and Carla, they are all so cute and I love their personalities and how outspoken and fun they are, it makes me want to hang out with them, and I think the chapter where Isabela confessed to Cristal is my favorite, for obvious reasons. And I love the friendship Mirabel has with Fuega(Dolores’ sister!) as well and I’d love to see more of it. I think I like it even better than the Mirabel and Camilo headcanon that is more common in the fandom. And I can just imagine Dolores’ wedding dress being just so ethereal and beautiful and outdoing the princesses at Disney parks. Mariano and Mirabel's friendship ranges from them being artsy together to Mariano having to stop Mirabel getting into a fist fight for him.

Mirabel is the scrappy little chihuahua while Mariano is the mastiff that has to pick her up once in a while so she doesn't hurt herself. Or grab Luisa if it's Isabela that Mirabel is fighting.

The only time Mariano becomes scrappy is when creeps come sniffing around. Not on his watch will they get near his friend.

There's a little detail in Encanto that I love and I haven't seen anyone talked about.

And it's the fact that, at the end, they didn't villanice Mariano.

They could so easily made him a Gaston like character, an idiot, aggressive, jealous and over all an awful man.

But they didn't, and it shows kids that a person doesn't have to be a freaking walking red flag in order for you to not want to be in a relationship with them.

You could just not like them, who knows why, but you are not obligated to like them.

Mariano is the perfect man, hell he's a perfect human. And still Isabela didn't want to marry him, who knows why, we can only speculate. But in the movie they show that her decision and feeling are valid nonetheless.

You could just not feel compatible with someone, you could just not see yourself in a romantic relationship (or even friendship) with that person, and that's enough, you don't need an excuse.

P. D. I love how they show that he's also perfect for the family by the fact that he actually cares for everyone in the family, him being the one who asked Mirabel if she's fine during the proposal dinner and also one of the first who goes to help rebuild casita.

* Camilo and Isabela will aggressively fight over what they think will happen next in Bruno’s telenovelas

* Antonio is very clingy when it comes to Bruno making his tio pick him up at any and every opportunity

* Luisa is actually very competitive but ignorantly so where her siblings and cousins will trick her into competitions where she ends up taking care of herself. “I BET I CAN FINISH THIS BOOK BEFORE YOU!” “YOUR ON!” or “I BET YOU CANT CHUG THAT WHOLE BOTTLE OF WATER!” “WATCH ME!”

* During the summer the whole family will take one day a week to hangout and swim in the river

* Antonio becomes best friends with that coffee kid, much to the families dismay. Pepa worries about there friendship due to the kids over hyper ness. Little does Pepa know he enjoys his hyper company reminding him of his mom and siblings

* Bruno is a really good baker. He can’t cook for shit but Julieta and Pepa’s wedding cakes were both baked by him

* Agustin will buy small things for his daughters when he spots something while shopping. Usually buying Mirabel sewing supplies, Isabela painting supplies, and Luisa cute earrings or a small stuffie

* Camilo has tried to trick Mariano into thinking he’s Dolores (he’s shape shifted as Dolores) Mariano realizes every time acting extra lovey dovey to make Camilo panic into changing back

* Camilo has threatened Mariano about treating his sister right, making sure he’s not just there for a rebound

* Julieta and Luisa are early risers. They sit and watch the sun rise a bit more in the sky while drinking coffee

* Luisa’s designated bedtime is at 10, but she’s always to busy to ever get to sleep at that time

* Isabela has more than once stayed up till the early hours of the morning when working on an art project

* Bruno sometimes purposefully waits downstairs at the dinner table, waiting for Camilo to come get his midnight snack. They’ve both been yelled at for waking everyone up due to Camilos highpitched scream

* Antonio try’s to sneak food into his room for his animals, Pepa or Felix catching him every time. He gets better at it with age

* Once Bruno returns Isabela and Dolores give him a long and much needed hair washing. Luisa braiding it up after the fact

* While Mirabel was making new clothes for Bruno the whole family was fighting on which color coded side he’d be on. Mirabel ignoring all of them sticking with green and maroon

* Luisa says that she’s a tea expert. She actually hates tea

* Camilo steals Isabela’s eyeliner

* When Dolores was little and she would become overwhelmed with all the noise she would have fits where she would hit her head. Her parents, aunts, uncles, and even Isabela would go and cover her ears until she stopped

* Some days Camilo will come over to a family member and just stand there till they notice and question him. He’ll open up his arms slightly. Each family member knows right away to just hug him till he lets go

* Luisa will sometimes just carry him around while she does chores during these moments. She’ll do the same when she babysits a sleeping Antonio

* Bruno wasn’t super thrilled when he first opened the door to his room. All the stairs looked tiring. At least he could make sand castles

* Anytime Bruno was bullied his sisters would be right there to defend and beat the shit out of whoever it was.

* Anyone who touched the Madrigal sisters though, Bruno never hesitated to kick them in the stomach

* Julieta always healed them up right after so Abuela would never know

* Bruno is always protective over his sisters and didn’t like most guys they dated or warded them off with his presence. Agustin was just clueless and Felix was way to friendly

Encanto Headcanons #1

Also known as "Day one of writing whatever for Encanto until Disney comes out with a (mini)series or sequel! :D"

Bruno recruited Mirabel, Dolores, and Camilo all onto the production team for his rat telenovelas. Mirabel handles costuming, Dolores works on storyboarding/script, and Camilo helps with directing.

Isabela and Mirabel used to fist fight at least once a week when no one was looking before the Casita falling. They still do but not as often.

Bruno's favorites are Mirabel and Dolores, though Luisa is a very close third.

Sometimes Bruno forgets Luisa isn't small anymore like she used to be before he left and catches himself still offering her piggyback rides. It takes a solid minute of them staring at each other for him to realize.

Dolores is very much cryptic, given how much she hears around the village at a constant basis. Sometimes she'll just say the most random things and leave it at that with no context. She can be slightly unhinged.

"And the rats talking in the walls..." Is this not cryptic energy??

All the Madrigals has at least once caught Dolores staring off into the void (she does this as she filters through what she hears everywhere).

Antonio has yet to accept that Mirabel is his cousin and not his sister. He's too attached to believe otherwise. Everyone goes with it since no one has the heart to break it to him.

Before their prophecies were read, Dolores, Isabela, and Mariano used to be best friends.

Mariano is a himbo and fits like a charm with the Madrigal men. Thanks to taking care of his mother, he has some experience with housework, but Agustin and Felix are more than happy to show him the rest of the ropes.

Turns out there's a deleted scene with Mirabel, Agustín, and Félix all doing chores around the house since they're the non-gift-having members. Add Mariano to that trio and they're the perfect quartet.

Some of Julieta's gray hairs are purely from Bruno and Pepa; both separately and combined. It's never easy being the oldest and calm one while surrounded by two chaotic energies.

Isabela treats her first cactus as if it was her child. It's her pride and joy, she even keeps pictures of it.

While collecting books of differing plants, Isabela likes to challenge the lengths of her power and see what's the biggest plant she can create. When she discovered Redwood trees, Mirabel and Luisa both had to convince her to take it down a notch.

The triplets have a variety of triplet exclusive creations: emergency triplet meetings, triplet sleepovers (called Triplets Only Night), triplet language. All of these are still used currently.

Pepa will sometimes walk up to Mirabel and simply drop Antonio in her arms. "Your turn with the child today." Mirabel doesn't complain while Antonio simply ":3".

Part of Antonio and Bruno's bonding to catch up for the past 5 years is Antonio telling his tio all the rat knowledge he knows.

Agustín, Félix, and Bruno all have brother friendship bracelets (made by yours truly, Agustín).

As part of the Mirabel-Camilo twins headcanon, they used to share each other's clothes to further confuse the public. Pepa and Julieta always had problems trying to get the two to admit who's socks were who's. (Do they wear socks? I dunno.)

One minute, Pepa and Bruno are arguing each other's heads off, the next they're in a cuddle pile (Julieta joins them not too long after).

Fine I'll bite I'm doing Encanto headcanons. this is centered on Mirabel and her parents and siblings (bare with me there's a lot)

Mirabel has full conversations with Casita. Everybody has walked in on her talking to the floors at least once (basically canon tbh)

Agustín sometimes just doesn't notice that he's gotten hurt because it happens so often. Someone will start a conversation and then point out the blood dripping down his leg and he just "oh. that's not good."

Mirabel is so fucking competitive. She shows no mercy. once she hit Mariano in the face with a soccer ball so hard his nose broke (again) and she didn't even pause just kept playing

Mirabel fights dirty. Biting, scratching, sand in the eyes. She has to when she's used to fighting a SHAPESHIFTER

Agustín taught Mirabel skills that the rest of the family couldn't do so she'd feel special. He'd throw things into trees so he could ask Mirabel to climb up and get it for him.

Mirabel taught herself how to make stuffed animals. She made one for Antonio when he was born, and for her dad for when he got hurt, and for Camilo for his 10th birthday (he said it was lame but he sleeps with it every night)

Isabela was very jealous of Mirabel and Luisa's close relationship, and started bullying Mirabel for it

Agustín used to say Mirabel's gift was being the heart and soul of the family cause she always made people happy

Bruno and Agustín used to talk a lot before he "disappeared". When Bruno showed up, he just started the last conversation they left off on

Mariano is friends with Isabela, and they bond over loving women and being repressed. The purest friendship is between a lesbian and her himbo

Casita does NOT pick favorites but if it had to it's Mirabel because she talks to Casita outside of when she needs something

Isabela hates pink and purple. It's not even the colors themselves just the fact that she had to be surrounded by them her whole life

Mirabel made Isabela a bunch of new dresses after the movie

Agustín has a little trouble seeing and inferring emotion, so he taught his daughters to be very vocal about their emotions. They taught themselves not to after a while, so he was frustrated because he could never tell what they were feeling.

Agustín usually relies on his wife to understand what's going on because her face is very expressive and he's memorized what her expressions mean

Luisa never asks for anything. When she wants something she holds it up and stares at Julieta or Agustín until she gets a yes or no

Agustín and Julieta would absently pet their kids when they were busy but they wanted attention. they would poke their parents just whenever because they knew it would get them Head Scritches

Agustín almost lost an eye once when spending time with the girls and they wouldn't let him leave Casita for a month

When Mirabel was born, Agustín expressed how he would die for his girls without question. The notion startled the other adults, who also didn't let him leave Casita for a month

When they were dating, Agustín learned to cook so Julieta could take a break.

Isabela used to chew her hair when she was stressed

Luisa very much squeals when she's excited and it's So Loud

The girls go to Julieta for help when they're sad, but they go to Agustín when they just want to cry without doing anything about it

Agustín used to be able to hold all his daughters at once and he cried when he couldn't bc they got too big

Julieta used to enjoy cooking a lot, but eventually it became more of a chore than an enjoyable thing to her

For one of Julieta's birthdays, her husband and daughters tried to cook dinner and bake a cake. They failed spectacularly. She still loved it.

Luisa loves mythology and used to imagine that she was Athena's daughter

Luisa is very much a crybaby and we love her for it

Luisa has frequent nightmares about not being able to protect her family

Isabela accidentally poisoned Augustín with a flower once

Mirabel tried to teach her dad how to sew. It did Not go well

Isabela and Julieta laugh very loudly. Luisa snorts when she laughs. Mirabel and Agustín wheeze when they laugh

Isabela is so expressive naturally and having to bury it all down physically pained her and she got frequent headaches

Isabela likes to scream. just because. she just lets out a "AH" and then goes back to what she was doing

Julieta liked to sit down with her kids and just squish their tiny faces when they were little

Agustín actually likes bees. they just don't seem to like him back lmao

Agustín likes to help and provide for his family like Mirabel does, but he doesn't really have the opportunity. Julieta will send him on random ingredient pickups so he has something to do

* The fandom’s number one himbo and automatically they become friends

* Mariano as we have seen is nice to Mirabel and is known to include her and takes care of her

* Mariano I headcanon is older than Dolores and Isabela(22). He’s probably 23-24

* Mirabel tripped and cry and Mariano straight up kidnaps her to take to his Abuela Señora Guzman

* Señora Guzman patched her up and Mariano comfort her

* That was the start of them hanging out everyday

* She brings arepas from home

* Mariano is a big himbo so I guess he never found out that his sweet little hermana was Mirabel Madrigal until a year later.

* But when he did ooooo~ he was mad, he he a crush on Isabela that was instantly welted like a flower

* His grandmother was angry, her friend that she knew for so long was treating her youngest granddaughter like this

* Think of Mirabel’s gray dress concept but mix with Mirabel’s color scheme

* I think her scarf (waist wrap) would hold the other Madrigal family symbols and their respective colors. So her skirt but smaller

* She would also probably change her hair style, two braids just like young Alma but with blue ribbons woven into it but longer, probably Pepa’s hair length

* She would probably spend the night at the Guzman, since the Madrigal family didn’t notice if she were home or not

Keepers of the light. by Moonybird = 10/10 in updates, istg. Every time I open my AO3 mailbox, there are always two to three chapters waiting for me to read. The candle that Pedro had granted Alma was the only thing keeping the shadow creatures at bay. The Madrigals had sworn to protect the town and the newcomers from the shadow, had a price, it took their very own, Bruno. We follow the adventures (and worries) of the giftless Mirabel Madrigal as she strives to make her family proud and show them that she could help in keeping the danger away even if she wasn't considered a keeper of light.

One Step Away by Breanna (@breannaaiedail) = one word, crying. I don't even know where to start but uhhh you'll cry.
