Marinette confides in her parents about the Miraculous after she fails to capture Stoneheart's akuma. Since Tikki is unable to tell them where she came from, and ultimately the Dupain-Chengs want to help people, they make a plan to support each other.

Marinette's parents take turns as the Ladybug hero when an akuma attacks while Marinette is at school, and she takes the "night shift" patrolling before bedtime after her homework is done and joining Chat for any late akuma events. After meeting Fu for the first time, they commit to protecting the kwami and eventually each Dupain-Cheng gets a backup miraculous for emergencies or when another teammate is needed. Sabine is very persuasive, and it doesn't take her long to convince Fu to bring Chat properly into the fold as well. (He's long been an honorary Dupain-Cheng in their minds anyway, and they can all tell he's desperately in need of support. Now they can just make it more official.)

Of course, there's no end of teasing the two younger heroes once Adrien and Marinette are revealed to each other...

* not gonna lie I’m really starting to believe that Zag wanted to make the movie purely for the fans, but then thought it wouldn’t be as successful if non-fans didn’t watch it, so they then had to rework the movie in a way that could appeal to everyone (even if it meant cutting out so many scenes like this one)

* like I think a fan of the show would’ve loved to see a bit of Marinette’s backstory, even if it wasn’t for show!Marinette, they would’ve just liked something, but I don’t think someone who generally watches/has never watched Miraculous would really care so about that so, yeah

Just had a flash of a Marichat scene I want to see drawn and/or in a fic, leaving it here so I don't forget.

The scene: Marinette and Chat sneak down to the bakery late at night, like way past when a boy should be in the house, to find some tasty day old treats and Tom catches them in the act. (Actually maybe it would be hilarious if they did it more than once and Sabine already caught them at it on a different occasion?) In my head, this is post-Weredad so that should factor into reactions.

The next day, or later in the week maybe, Adrien finds himself alone with Tom, or Marinette's parents somehow, and all he can think about is trying not to die by the hand of a ginormous baker who happens to be his crush/gf's dad. Maybe he gets weird around Marinette about it? Maybe she starts to get suspicious? Maybe there's some kind of identity reveal hiding in here? Maybe one or both of Marinette's parents even already know Adrien is Chat?

Idk I'm making it up as I go along. If anyone wants to give it a crack, I'd love to see what you come up with!

Update: I made it about an hour before I cracked open a new Word document and started typing furiously. 🤷 Which is honestly probably some kind of record.
