fun thing about a dead fandom is i can say what i want and there’s hardly any people around to disagree with me. for example:

the miragen and kagami are all metalheads, and its kagami’s fault (sans aomine). he listens to everything you can imagine from nu-metal to kawaii metal to neue deutsche harte. his playlist could go from gimme chocolate to meat hook sodomy back to back and he wouldn’t bat an eye

kuroko got into it not by choice, but bcus of how much time he spends with kagami. no he does not like cannibal corpse, but oomph! and plastic tree aren’t too bad.

kise likes the grunge, the glam, and the gothic. he likes alt rock mostly, though, because it’s a little more pop music-ish than other metal genres. slowly, though, he could probably assimilate doom metal into his mix.

bcus they’re kids from money, akashi and midorima don’t venture too far into metal, but kagami introduces them to some symphonic and neoclassical. it’s not much, but its something. madmans esprit is more modern than when knb is set, but kyuho’s music is a decent reference to what they’d listen to. specifically stairway and the conscientization of unconsciousness album

murasakibara would be into industrial, i think. maybe some black metal, but i personally stay away from that genre bcus some of the artists are, well… not great people. trad heavy metal is another go-to genre for him

(for the murahimu fans: himuro, like kagami, is a big metal fan. mura gets a lot of recommendations from him)

aomine’s not as into metal as kagami is, but i think he’d be into dir en grey (and eventually xaaxaa, but they first started releasing music in 2016 lmfao). plastic tree, too, and maybe l’arc. i’m thinking visual kei stuff.

and to branch off that ☝️ the reason he got into deg is bcus he watched the raison detre video and there were naked ladies. need i say more?

sorry for this seemingly out of nowhere attachment to knb i just relate to the whole being overly emotional about relationships that were made and fell apart when u were younger but still having to deal with it later in life thing it has going on

there’s a lot of friendly, good-hearted post canon kuroko’s basketball posts i see on here, and while i enjoy them being silly boys in high school i also think a lot about how good it is for them to get away from teiko and from old teammates

kuroko, alongside kagami who is a late-arriving miracle, beats his old teammates. he shows them what lost feels like & teaches them what that sort of misery feels like. i think, from a 15-16 year old’s perspective where nothing much matters except what you know you’re best at, that experience is something that opened a lot of their eyes

& from there they grow apart. they’re friendly, but not friends. tokyo boys run into each other, but there’s none of those chats you get with someone you haven’t seen in a while. it’s an odd smile at best. at worst: tension at their shoulders, familiar, because an old teammate is watching their every move - it’s habit, something adapted when playing together for so long - yet saying nothing.

At some point at the end of highschool/beginning of uni, when MiraGen became close friends again, they all entered the "roast the shit out of your friends" friendship phase. Because they knew how bad Akashi was with jokes, they excluded him from those, not wanting him not to realize that they weren't serious. Akashi on the other hand took offence in that and asked to be included as well.

So after one meeting when they were going back home, Aomine offered to drop Akashi off since he was by car anyway, so Akashi wouldn't have to call anyone or go catch a train, then, as they were all in the doorway, he casually dropped "oh, you can't sit in the front sit, I don't want to get a ticket" to Akashi, who's thought process was something along the lines of:

"Since when you're so worried about laws?"

"What law that even is?"

"... Are you implying I'm not tall enough?"

"How dare you disrespect me like that? What did I do to deserve this? I can't change the genetics?"

"Oh, right... You were joking... right?"

"Right, the casual insults, or whatever you called them."

"Never dare to speak like this to me ever again, hmpf."

Akashi agreed to being excluded from those jokes only after the 31st time he didn't get it and got offended. Aomine did 19 of those jokes, Kuroko did 10, Kise and Midorima each dared to do one. They still include him in those less mean ones, because they felt bad for excluding him completely.
