Note
Have you got a design for Pryce and/or Cutter yet? :0
Not really! But using this ask as an opportunity to try my hand at some first draft ideas :)

I still don’t know much about Pryce yet !! So her design might be subject to change. Cutter’s design takes some inspiration from my buddy @duskgryphon <:]

ATTENTION WOLF359 FANS!!
I am writing an essay on wolf359 and I need YOUR help. I have a survey of 3 questions about wolf359's characters and the topic of morality, specifically the importance of morally grey characters and dilemmas in media. In these questions, I want to hear about your experience and opinions listening to wolf359. Include as much or as little as you'd like. [feel free to step on a soap box and rant all you'd like for the responses] One thing to keep in mind with replying is you can talk about how you feel about the characters as people and as story characters along with how you feel about the show overall. So without further ado. The questions!!
In wolf359, did the fact that most characters are morally grey affect your viewing experience of the show?
How did the subject of morality and the decisions made by the characters change your perspective on them as people
how do you compare wolf359 to other shows on quality? Is the fact that they discuss morality as a key subject a part of the reason why you prefer wolf359 to other media
Thank you so much and feel free to reply in the comments or to message them to me. Thank you so much for helping a fellow Wolf359 fanatic

Additional context on select answers: *My unhinged theory about Blessie + the accompanying fic
**I get that Pryce gave Hera her voice to control her. My question is, why she didn’t do that for Eris, Enlil, and Rhea too? My personal theory is that it’s because Hera was a more updated/advanced AI and they gave her more of a defiant/tough/independent personality on purpose to make her more resilient, but they also wanted her to be controllable. But that’s just my head canon.
***Bob said they intend to observe humanity for 14,000 years by sending in the human copies. Lovelace is a human copy and she made it back to Earth. Unless the aliens send more copies, given how difficult it is to kill Lovelace, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume the dear listeners gave her a lifespan of 14,000 years.

Propaganda under the cut.
Miranda Pryce:
She’s one of the show’s two main villains and a mad scientist. She was born with unclear but crippling disabilities but was also a super genius and made herself into a cyborg. In the process she became obsessed with transcending humanity and building a new “perfect “ humanity to her and her partner’s designs. She single-handedly pushed AI development forward by decades and began coding “full-minded” AIs almost indistinguishable from humans. One of these is main character Hera, who tried to escape the facility at one point. Pryce responded by implanting a code line reading “I can’t do this, I’m not good enough” into Hera’s core personality code, basically giving her an AI anxiety disorder that she struggles with throughout the whole series. Pryce also continuously de-genders and mis-names her, referring to her only with her number designation and “it.” Another invention are her “restraining bolts” which are implanted into a person’s brain stem and make them cheerfully creepy subservient zombies. In the finale, Pryce and Hera have a stand off in a constructed mind-space, where Hera gets to punch her in the face and then wipes her memory of everything.
Perihelion/ART:
ART stand for Asshole Research Transport. A bot-piloted anti-capitalist research space ship. Gathers information to use against corporations while posing as a cargo ship. Way more advanced than other bot-AI in the setting. Let Murderbot hitchhike in it in exchange for downloaded TV shows. Cares a lot for it's crew and gets upset when watching TV shows where ship crews are injured or killed. Was ready to bomb a colony that had captured Murderbot before reluctantly agreeing to Three's more covert approach. It's genderless (pronouns it/it's) but it's definitely a girlboss (plus ships have been called 'she' since at least the 14th century, are all ships therefore coded female? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).

an interesting thing about AIs in w359 is how much pryce exerts her complete control over them, yet she still created them with fully realized conscious intelligences, meaning a certain level of autonomy. maxwell noted that the language models could be stochastic, meaning a certain level of evenly distributed randomness.
meaning.. that randomness is an inherent part of crafting a fully constructed intelligence, just like it is in any living and sentient creature. it's actually impossible for computers to achieve true randomness, so it's possible that pryce, who hates uncertainty and randomness, achieved true randomness to create ais, and then she spent the rest of her time controlling and collaring them. and in being able to collar ais, she developed the technology to collar humans. it sure is some kind of commentary on the nature of ais and personhood in the world that w359 takes place in

A few years ago I printed out all 1001 deep space survival tips and bound them into this massive tome. I did the cover design based on the Goddard Futuristics logo that came with the manual pdf. Would definitely be a deadly weapon if lit on fire and hurled at your head
