Last Year's Fanwork Awards are officially over!

All works have been bookmarked to the Ao3 collection, and hopefully all available winners have been reblogged on tumblr as well - if your post of a winning work hasn't been reblogged yet, let us know!

We had over two hundred nominated fanfiction in 30 categories with 47 winning works in first place (some having the same amount of votes makes it more than the amount of categories), an additional thirty first-place winners in the art, gif and video categories, and over 70 different winning creatives in the first through third places of all the categories! Congrats, everybody!

You can filter it for winners and nominations, and for the different categories (if you can't find the category you are looking for in the suggested bookmarker's tags, go to 'exclude tag' and exclude the category tags with more works, click filter again and it should suggest you new bookmarker's tags now - be careful to only exclude the category tags like 'AU' and not 'winners' 'nominees' and the first-third places, as that would exclude all fics)

After that, the events sped past. A chaste kiss had turned into a heated make-out session on the couch, that had turned into wandering hands, and that had eventually led to you being naked on your and Miranda’s shared bed, on your back, with the undressed policewoman in between your legs.

Miranda rolled off of you and crossed the room, picking her robe from the bathroom door, and turning back to you. She noticed the way your eyes raked up her body, tying her robe shut with a smirk, “My eyes are up here, you know?” You knew she was only teasing by the way she approached the bed once more, her arms supporting her body weight as she crawled over you.

She bit her bottom lip, eyes scanning your face slowly before dipping low to press a kiss to your lips. Your hands moved up over her shoulders, slipping their way under the collar of her robe to pull her closer. With a light laugh, Miranda withdraws from your touch, readjusting her robe as she backs out of the room, “Food now, fun later.”

You push yourself up from the bed, stopping to put on your discarded underwear, pulling one of Miranda’s old academy shirts from the drawer, and slipping it over your head as you make your way to the kitchen. The constable was already pulling ingredients from the cabinets and fridge, a little smile permanently applied to her lips as she did so.

“How was work?” You ask, leaning against the kitchen counter as she worked diligently to make the batter. As you watched her work, your eyes examined her focused eyes, gentle smile, and stray hairs falling into her face, all of which endeared her even more to you. Your heart felt as if it was about to burst from all the love you felt for your girlfriend.

Your question caused her smile to fall, her response was preambled with a shrug, followed by the tilting of her head back and forth as she spoke, “Work was work. Robin and I have a new case... that’s why everything has just been so.. crazy.”

“You’ll get it figured out. You always do.” You take a step closer, looping your middle and ring finger around the belt of her robe, bringing that same goofy smile back to her face. The blonde lit the burner on the stove, pushing a pan to cover the flame, never stepping too far away from you.

“And what did you get up to today, sweetheart? I remember you texting me something about grocery shopping and a sweet little dog in a sweater.” Miranda recounted some of your communications over the past day. During her longer shifts, you would text her periodically throughout the day, telling her about all the little cute or fun things you saw as you knew it brightened her day.

You recounted your trip to the grocery store, telling her about the wonderful elderly woman who brought the sweetest little dog with her. The constable’s eyes lit up at the mention of the dog, grinning widely as you recounted the memory.

Miranda continued cooking and the absentminded chatter continued between you both. As the pancakes began stacking up on a plate, you found yourself shifting from her side to hugging Miranda from behind, soaking in every moment of physical proximity. There was no doubt that Miranda’s love language was physical touch, so she readily soaked up any second of touch you gave her.

Minutes later, the pancakes were ready and Miranda turned in your arms, holding the pancakes high above your head as her lips dipped to press a kiss to your forehead, “Let’s eat.” The constable wrapped an arm around your shoulders, walking you back towards the kitchen table with her lips now dancing around your face, causing you to erupt into a fit of laughter. Her lips pressed to yours, her face lingering in front of yours for a moment, “God, I love you.”

“I love you... Now it’s time to set the table.” You take a few seconds to appreciate the sentiment before pulling away, finally beginning to pull your weight in this midnight dinner by pulling plates from the cabinet and forks from the drawer. Miranda works in tandem, placing the pancakes down on the table before rummaging through the cabinets to find syrup.

You smile at the sight of Miranda arranging the two dinner table chairs closer together, not wanting you sitting across from her. Taking your seat next to her, you shift closer to your girlfriend and stab your fork into two of the pancakes, dragging them onto your plate. The room was filled with silence sans the occasional sound of a fork against a plate.

The constable finishes her meal first, her arm winding around your waist and giving you a soft tug, “C’mere...” The gesture makes you blush, knowing she wanted you to finish your meal while sitting on her lap. You take a seat on her thighs, turning your attention back to your food as Miranda’s arms wrap around your torso, her face nuzzling into your back. These were the little moments where you could feel how in love Miranda was with you.

When you finally finished your plate, you noticed how Miranda’s movements had stopped. Lightly, you rub your hand against her arm, turning your head and whispering, “Mirandy-Andy... Is it time for bed, sweetness?”

“Mhmm...” She hummed into your back, giving you a squeeze. Her voice was thick with sleep, an octave lower than normal, “We can clean up tomorrow. I’m tired...”

“Time to sleep, baby.” You pop up from your place on her lap, pulling yourself from her grasp and collecting the plates from the table. Depositing them in the sink, you feel Miranda’s arms around you once more. The constable turned you around and her hands drifted to the backs of your thighs, picking you up to carry you back to the bedroom.

With the two of you now full and sleepy, falling asleep was almost automatic as Miranda laid you into bed. Her form was half of atop yours, almost like she was your personal weighted blanket.

After that night, Miranda coming home from late shifts was often (if not always) accompanied by sex and pancakes.

FJFKJF when i wrote that post i was definitely reading motherland: fort salem fanfiction 😅 i’ve been staying up too late reading fanfiction like some sort of 20 year old who can still do that without risking their health.

BUT i’ve been reading a lot of lesbian romance this year and i’m absolutely down to provide some recs! important disclaimer, however, i only read one (1) subgenre that’s best described as “ice queen lesbian milf office romance” ft an age gap between 21+ adults. understandably this is not everyone’s jam, but i am simply a 20something lesbian who thinks older women are really hot. what can i say

here are five recs in order of preference:

1. “truth and measure” by roslyn sinclair - the original adapted novel version of the same-titled legendary mirandy/devil wears prada fic. jules moretti is the long-suffering assistant of vivian carlisle, the CEO of a prestigious fashion magazine. then vivian gets pregnant mid divorce, with only jules by her side. and it only gets gayer from there.

listen. i genuinely could not stop reading truth and measure by roslyn sinclair. for three days, i woke up, vaguely did my adult tasks, and read for several hours in a state of what i can only call hysteria. the chemistry is insane. vivian is a hot mean loser with sad eyes and jules is insane for every choice she makes. btw i imagined the nanny!era lauren lane as vivian and current day alison scagliotti as jules. i had the time of my life. 10000/10

(also: i still highly recommend the published version to anyone who read the og fic - the story feels both brand new and wonderfully, nostalgically familiar.)

2. “the headmistress” by milena mckay - sam threadneedle, a closeted math teacher working at a conservative girls boarding school, hooks up with an insanely hot older woman at a conference in the city. three months later, that same hot older woman shows up at the school. woops, she’s the new principal and she’s there to cause problems! the prose is decent, the melodrama is fun to read, and the chemistry is zesty. solid 8/10

3. “the music and the mirror” by lola keeley - based on a supercat/supergirl fic of (i think) the same name. anna, the newest member of a prestigious ballet company, really wants to impress victoria, the former prima ballerina turned artistic director. well, she definitely does that! victoria decides that anna is going to be her company’s new star. this one has a lot of homoerotic partner dancing and really great side characters. still reads like a supercat fic, but honestly that’s another plus. 9/10

4. “the love factor” by quinn ivins - set in the 90’s, this book follows a closeted statistics professor and her TA, a very out lesbian political science phd candidate, as they expose a homophobic professor for falsifying data and fall in love. not as horny as others i’ve read, but still wildly tender and cathartic. i loved also how much empathy this book showed towards closeted lgbt folks. 7/10

5. “something to talk about” by meryl wilsner - also based on a mirandy fic, this book follows the misadventures of a hollywood showrunner and her assistant when they’re mistaken for a couple at a red carpet event. this book strained my suspension of disbelief the most—i simply don’t think everyone in emma’s life would be rooting for her to date her boss LMAO—but the chemistry is great and the pining is unreal. 7/10

Okay but I've had so many scenarios to put bella and Andrew in I just need to create an order. A friend of mine, let's call him...discoball, recently showed me and celia some of his writing for us to beta read and my slump is officially over. The only problem is they mention major events from the beginning of their relationship but the book may not start then. I'm not entirely sure though so it is all up for change. Also really want to write some more mirandy ideas but again I'm honestly unsure on the structure.

This year (2022), there will be fan-run TDWP fanwork awards to show our appreciation for all the fan creations, from fanfic over art to video and more!

What is a fanwork award?

There are different ways awards can be run, but basically everyone can nominate works in different categories for example for fic and art, and later vote for their favourites!

How will the award be organized?

Works will be nominated over google docs, with the option to send in messages here or on discord if that doesn't work for someone for whatever reason, and the voting will take place on the discord server to prevent tampering by people voting multiple times and to make it easier for mods to oversee.

The works in first, second and third places will be added to an Ao3 winner's collection (if the creators allow it), or reblogged here with a winner's banner depending on where they have been posted.

Hi! So, these are all the ao3 fics that I like and have kept. I went through the entire Bellamione tag on ao3 (yes all 58 pages), and this is the result. I liked this fic because it shows different romances between bella and hermione in one fic while showing what their reactions would be once they were over. A Bite Into The Apple by orphan_account; Bellatrix Lestrange/Hermione Granger, oneshot, implied smut, possessive behavior, light d/s, mind games, sort of manipulation? Hermione thinks it is, azkaban, prison, dark rituals, hermione visits bella in azkaban every wednesday without fail because she needs to win at their game and honestly she doesn’t care anymore if it’s iMmOrAl to bribe the guards to keep their traps shut, the warden certainly isn’t complaining. This fic was good in that they’re both falling for each other while not really wanting to, and the dark magic affect is well-displayed. (See more notes on this series at the end.) Got me thinking about a TDWP AU in the The Handmaid’s Tale setting:

Post Paris, except Irv is scheming something bigger. Gilead.

Overnight things change, and in a turn of events Miranda finds herself as a handmaid with Andy as a Martha of the same household (Irv & Jacqueline, surprise! surprise!)

There is only one thing on Miranda’s mind, saving Caroline. Cassidy and her dad have managed to flee, praised be. Caroline is in Gilead, at the brink of her teenage years, her fate as a handmaid looming over the future
