favorite time of the year: definitely autumn! the cooler weather, leaves changing color, the smell of cinnamon in stores, I love it all.

favorite collection: i have a collection of all the cards people have given me!

comfort food: a nice bowl of sesame noodles(? 麻醬麵) in the summer

favorite drink: bubble tea (either matcha or regular milk tea)

favorite songs: at the moment it’s the entire genshin impact soundtrack (but especially the mondstadt theme song)

#misc #I encourage anyone dyslexic to try rotating him in your mind. I can’t do that; which is why I’m asking you to. #also: a bunch of tags are surprised this isn’t ‘shopped #it’s the lighting. backlit by the sun (which is diffused through the water) but also forelit artificially #the artificial light - a flash pack or something - casts a hard shadow under the creatures arm #which normally wouldn’t be possible if backlit by the SUN; you’d see a less-hard/more-fragmented shadow above water #as light sources ‘compete’ in a sense - and since there aren’t any light sources which can outshine the literal sun #it looks a bit weird when the darkest shadow is being cast from any other origin point - which is what’s essentially happening here #I don’t know the mechanics of how light travels through water; but I know the effect is substantial even with relatively short distances #also: it’s been balanced and color corrected by the author of the photo - who made deliberate choices to bring out the full potential #so it’s not like it’s a fresh and untouched export #but the kind of ‘tacked on’ appearance of the creature is a result of the lighting conditions within the image

I really like how with some more killer focused episodes, Columbo is sort of a horror character to them

the show is definitely aware of that slant, which i love. most of the time, columbo is a mosquito, small and kind of buzzing around. he maintains at least a superficiality of harmlessness.

but sometimes he really does incite terror. imagine being a murderer with columbo on your tail. slowly, visit after visit after visit, you come to dread his presence. because they're so superficially benign, even his little smiles become unsettling; you might even become afraid of him the same way you would a clown or doll. he feigns being simple, then turns around and give you just the briefest flash of that merciless, mechanical snake inside, always there, always knowing, just waiting for you to so much as breathe wrong before jutting out and sinking his teeth into your neck.

so yeah, of course columbo is a horror series. from the perspective of a greedy murderer, is the personification of justice and retribution himself not your worst fucking nightmare?
