some kind of. miscellaneous conversation sometime during ac3?? this was actually part of a much longer scene that went in a more serious direction than I originally planned once I started drawing it. I ended up starting over, but I couldnt bring myself to delete the pages I had already started (which is why the dialogue's a little janky bc I decided to redo it before I got to the lettering stage RIP) so I cleaned them up a bit to post :') get some sleep, desmond.

son hyuk ( 2011 ) ୨୧ hyuk is the brother of cheri’s close friend and dancer hyesu. hyesu introduced the two when cheri was a trainee and hyuk really liked her. they dated for only a few months and are on good terms.

im sooyun ( 2014 ) ୨୧ this was a really bad situationship if we’re being honest. they had trained together and were pretty good friends. cheri realized that she might like girls but it was risky being an idol and all. sooyun wanted cheri to commit to the relationship but she couldn’t because A.) she wasn’t 100% sure if she liked girls and B.) what if people found out and ruined her career. it was only for a few months and sooyun dropped her afterwards which broke cheri’s heart.

exo’s baekhyun ( 2016 - 2018 ) ୨୧ cheri had the biggest, fattest crush on baekhyun and was a massive exo-l during her debut days and now you will not catch her even listening to exo. she had the opportunity of the lifetime MCing with him and suho at inkigayo in 2014 and they remained friends. in 2016, they released a collaboration which sparked rumors immediately. the two were incapable of staying away from each other. they officially started dating in april 2016 and were quite literally the least inconspicuous couple ever.

they continued to release duets which basically gave ARMY and EXO-Ls all the confirmation they needed about the relationship and was also the perfect opportunity for both fandoms to slut-shame her. they were so very in love and wanted to be able to tell everyone. unfortunately, time and personal issues got in the way and they broke up in april 2018.

seventeen’s joshua ( 2018 - current ) ୨୧ cheri believes that this man was sent to her by god himself. they met in 2015 during ‘run’ promotions and seventeen had just debuted. she has never told anyone how they met (she fell asleep in their green room and joshua found her.) cheri fell in love immediately, yet they remained incredibly good friends for years.

joshua was always there when cheri needed someone to talk to and her members were busy. he would take her to her therapy and other various appointments then hang out with her and her mom. at that point, they still were not dating, but cheri’s mom finally encouraged them to make it official. joshua is cheri’s everything. she truly doesn’t know what she did to deserve him.

i honestly think that Derek's relationship with his mom is very one sided. I honestly assume she neglected him and he had to deal with the trauma of his dad all on his own.

The only reason he's scamming people is to get attention from his mom; hell, he even dyes his hair to try and make himself look "good enough", but ultimately I really don't think she cares about him. I have a feeling he knows that too but he's still holding onto the idea if he just tries hard enough he'll probably be happy again.

Thinking about an AU where 18-year-old Sam on the verge of leaving comes home to her mother screaming at her little sister. Sam's still high, the shouts ringing in her ears but the words formless. She's about to intervene when a slap cuts through it all. Her sister's on the floor and in the blink of an eye Sam has a hand wrapped around her mother's throat, slamming her against the wall.

Tara's climbing to her feet, eyes wide with fear at the scene. Sam doesn't look away from her mother as she says "Tara, go upstairs and pack a bag." Her sister doesn't move, so Sam turns away to look at her and repeats herself. Tara must see something in her wild eyes, because she runs up the stairs.

By the time Sam escorts her downstairs half an hour later, their mother is nowhere to be seen. Tara's led through the packing and into the car in silence. The what's happening?, the where are we going?, the are you ok? sits on the tip of her tongue, choked back by uncertainty and confusion.

Sam drives out of Woodsboro and doesn't look back.

OR

Sam, 19-years-old, long since kicked out of the house and on her way out of Woodsboro. She just has one stop to make, a goodbye she has to give first.

She sneaks into the house. The door is unlocked, she doesn't even need the key Tara hid outside for her, and it enrages her. Her baby sister is upstairs sleeping and anyone can just walk in.

Her mother is passed out on the floor leaning against the couch, snoring away and a bottle still in her lap. She creeps past her and up the stairs.

Sam perches herself on the edge of Tara's bed. Her sister is sprawled out on the mattress, the covers kicked off, and it makes her smile. She brushes Tara's hair back from her face and the smile falls from her face.

Her fingers trail down to the shadow around her neck. Sam reaches over to turn on the bedside lamp, catching sight of Tara's wrist at the same time. These are bruises. She wakes her sister up and demands answers from her. She doesn't like the answers she eventually coaxes from her. She likes Tara's attempt to lie to her even less.

She makes her pack, tells her to wait out front, that she'll be out in a minute. She kicks her mother awake, tells her she's leaving for good, and that she's not leaving alone. She tells her that she will never have the chance to hurt them again, and if she tries, well, she'll learn exactly how much like her father she can be,

sometimes im so tired of "realistic storytelling" and its just dark, gritty and painful and characters get bad endings because its how it is in real life

fuck you!! life has its ups and downs and its beautiful and a story is but a snippet of the rollercoaster of an adventure that being alive is! just because a story has a happy ending doesnt make it less valuable than those where most people die and everyones miserable, nor makes it less "realistic". good things happen in life and im tired of pretending its not.

and if a story is just positive vibes with little to no conflict introduced? thats cool too! if its fun and puts a smile on my face ill eat that shit up! day to day can already be emotionally exhausting, and honestly id rather put on a silly show or read a fun adventure book than sit through a "realistic" story thatll only make me more miserable.

not saying you shouldnt consume media that require you to really engage with them on emotional level, that are hard to watch, because they are important and you should widen your horizons about issues that surround us. but dont bash lighthearted stories while youre at it - both of those types of stories have their purpose in existing
