I think in general calling something a "___ trope" narrows the scope of it in an unnecessary way. ideas can be used anywhere in any number of ways, not just one. 2) if you go "haha i know what omegaverse is i'm going to hell" then like,, please recognize that sex (and by extension kink) is not a dirty bad thing and the fact that this concept originated in a nsfw fanfiction isn't something that needs to be compensated for or a sign you're depraved or gross. don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with joking around an stuff I just need you to know that it's not actually a problem even if u joke it is, because some people are very genuine about thinking that it's some horrible plague upon the earth that people think about sex in strange ways sometimes. it's like,, fine.

Have we talked about a/b/o in a Royal setting yet? I’ve been reading a lot of manhwa lately so it’s all I’ve been thinking about.

Imagine noble omegas wearing elaborate checkers and collars to show off that their looking for a mate. Maybe they wear high neck or turtle neck garments because to show a bare neck is considered salacious.

Alphas that wear muzzles because it’s unbecoming to bare teeth in high society.

Could you imagine the courting? The influence it would have on the fashion?

in honor of my backache from sleeping in my nest on the floor last night (a hardwood floor covered with a sheepskin and a throw blanket) i wanna talk about nest mattresses! in real life and worldbuilding. disclaimer that my knowledge comes from mostly online so it’s probably not completely accurate.

so! cool floor beds i found that would make good nest bases.

the type of bed i could find the most on online is the Japanese futon. it’s what the western futon/sofa bed was originally modeled after but it’s very different. it’s basically a very thin mattress (shikifuton) over tatami mats (rush grass outer layer with a foam or rice straw core). both parts are much more moveable than a western style mattress. another important consideration i think is relevant is that futon covers go all the way around the mattress and can be washed (unlike western sheets which leave the bottom of the mattress uncovered which if it’s on the floor can get gross). futons are also meant to be aired out in the sun, which helps the whole dust thing.

another cool bed type i found are montessori-style house beds. they’re typically used for young children (toddlers and preschoolers) but do come in larger sizes (the biggest i’ve seen is a full). the bed frame sits directly on the floor with a thin mattress and a wooden house-shape on top that can support a canopy/curtains (which would be super cool for a nest lets be real). some also come with bed rails and bumpers so little kids don’t fall out, which i think would also be good for a nest because it’s more cozy.

of course i must mention the “human dog beds” which gained popularity in 2022 from going on shark tank but i remember first hearing about them around 2015-ish (and of course going that would make a great nest!). it is what it sounds like.

another, probably the cheapest option here, is camping mattresses. you know what these are. super thin air mattresses with foam tops. some come in double width (better for a nest imo) but most of them are made of that terrible slippery fabric (good for camping, bad for everything else). this might not be a problem for most people but i’m autistic and i gag touching them. you could cover it with a rug or blanket but those might slip off of it due to the gross slipperiness of the fabric. idk.

the last thing i can think of are traditional mattresses that are just. thin. you could use a mattress topper but a real mattress would definitely feel better even if they’re the same height because real mattresses have a comfort layer and a base layer and a topper only has the comfort layer (=more back pain for you). consider: dorm mattresses (at least my dorm had them, and it made an amazing nest), rv mattresses, and trundle mattresses. they’re all basically the same thing just different keywords (and slightly different sizes for the rvs). my sister has slept on a 4 inch mattress for six years or so and she only occasionally complains of back pain but for occasional use it would be fine (she also has scoliosis so. could be that).

now for some quick worldbuilding notes:

i definitely think that in an omegaverse society nest mattresses would be common. i think they would mimic traditional mattresses but shorter, like rv mattresses, but have an all-around washable cover/sheets to protect from floor grossness, sort of like dorm mattresses but able to be washed more easily. i also think they would come in more square or round shapes instead of the typical rectangle twin shape. i can see them having folding capabilities like some rv mattresses do, so that people could sun them like futons to get rid of dust mites.

i can also see nest frames being a thing, sort of like the montessori bedframes, with pillow bumpers to make a more enclosed vibe. i can also see a huge market for both frame-mounted or ceiling-mounted canopies, because who doesn’t want that.

maybe houses would be built with specific nest areas in mind, maybe with softer floors like tatami vibes or carpet. i’ve heard talk about conversation pits which are absolutely so cool but i can also see the advantage in an elevated nest space. my favorite nest of all time was in a ceiling cabinet because i could see the whole room but was harder to see myself, which made me feel really safe. so maybe houses might be built with raised nest platforms, or even small ceiling lofts overlooking a larger room (i couldn’t find an exact picture of what i’m thinking but this is close:)

I realized the other day that I don’t think I know what ‘miscefelis’ or ‘misceanimalis’ means. Like, I see it as a tag on miscecanis posts, I think I’ve even used it myself, but I never actually Questioned it. And in the official (dare I say iconic) post where you coined the term ‘miscecanis’ and ‘miscelupus’, those terms weren’t featured (not even in the reblogs).

So I was wondering:

1) do you know who coined the term(s) ‘miscefelis’ and ‘misceanimalis’? Was that also you, but just in a later post?

2) What’s your interpretation of those terms? My best interpretation of it is ‘omegaverse lifestyle but it’s not wolf/dog inspired’ but now I’m doubting myself

I was not the one that coined miscefelis or misceanimalis, and unfortunetly I also do not know who did. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was more than one person at the same time, or if it had many points of origin. Because le'ts be real, my lousy latin construction of Miscecanis and Miscelupus wasn't that difficult to branch out from hahahahaah. They seem to me just like natural progressions. And as I interpret them is: Miscefelis: People that may identify with A/B/O but not necessarily with the more canine/dog-like behaviours and would rather mantain the poise of felines because it suits them better within the verse. Misceanimalis: This to me is like saying "miscellaneous²" hahaha. When you have too many characteristics from too many different animals to pin it down as just one. Birds, reptiles, canines, felines, etc. So you use this catch-all term. If you're still in doubt on what the hell it's all this miscecanis thing ahahaha I'll link you to this question I just answered that kind of sums it all up and has links to other things related to it I made in the past.

Flags for those who identity as Alphas, gammas, betas, deltas, or omegas (in that order)! This can be due to alterhumanity, therianhood, systemhood, etc.! It isn't necessarily a "gender" in the traditional human sense, more of secondary gender characteristics as commonly utilized in omegaverse & A/B/O media!

The moon phases on the flags are due to our system exomemories where the moon phase one is born in determines their Nature! We included plain ones so that others can still use them if that doesn't apply :]

The colors are also related to exomemories wherein Alphas have red eyes, betas have blue, and omegas have yellow! Purple and green are the in-betweens; they aren't in our exomems but we wanted to be inclusive.

How does miscecanis work?

Such a broad question. A bit difficult to understand what exactly do you mean. I'll give a summed up version of what Miscecanis is from what I've gathered observing people in my midst in my omegaverse server to this day all the way to the time I came up with the term alongside @spaceyomega, in June 23rd, 2020. First things first: Here's the original Miscecanis post in case you're curious. Here's also the Miscecanis Pride flags that were created this year by yours truly: Miscecanis Pride Flag & Omega Pride Flag (this latter one gives you acess to the other 3). So looking at these two (or three) links side by side you see there's a bit of a shift in perspective in a way. There's a few keywords to be brought up here: Lifestyle vs Identity. When Miscecanis started I was adamant in separating it from gender identity or otherkin. Because let's make one thing clear here: No, I (and I'm speaking solely for myself here, no one else) do not believe we are all secretly wolf people for realsies, and we're something other than human. So to me, in the beggining it made more sense to just define Miscecanis as a lifestyle. Something you adhere to in order to better and benefit your own life. And this still holds water to this day for me, I don't denouce this way of thinking. On the other hand! The more I came in contact with people that were identifiying with my new term, there seemed to be some patterns. These people often seemed to mix in the miscecanis thing with their gender identify. Some even calling the dynamics their secondary gender outside of the fanfiction space (which I do not particularly like, more on that in a minute) or even their primary gender. Now do I find these people to be wrong? No. Not really. I came to understand that to many gender non-conforming people, identifying as an Omega, Alpha, Beta, or any other dynamics BEFORE or even alongside identifiying with a "human gender" granted them an immense amount of relief and comfort. In many cases even aliviating feelings of dysphoria or dismorphia. And funnily enough, I realized I was one of these poeple myself. I see myself as an Alpha first, and a human gender second. Almost like the dynamics is more important, like the human one bears less weight in my identiy and life than the miscecanis one. Now, do I like calling it a GENDER? No I do not. To me it's a construction with a whoooooole lot of weight and history behind it. Omegaverse, that is. I don't like conflating it directly with a gender. I like keeping the word DYNAMICS. And you'll never catch me using the term "secondary gender" when talking about the dynamics, unless is to talk about how other people view things and feel, be it about fictional verses or miscecanis culture itself. Obviously this is just my opinion, but I think the word Dynamics is much more serviceable. Because it's implies interaction between Omegaverse and your gender identy. Something apart that influences something you already possess. Close neighbours. two different colours: Gender is White and Alpha/Beta/Omega/Other dynamics is Red, and when you mix it, you get Pink, which then makes the whole of You.

This is all my perspective though. Y'all are free to disagree, or add on to it.
