For some reason it saddens me that misophonia has no… symbol or flag. Except a blue ribbon apparently. And a MOGAI flag but it doesn’t look great and doesn’t look like a misophonia flag- I do think yellow fits tho.
It can’t be too specific, there’s a lot of triggers out there. And distinct, unlike like the ribbon and flag. Preferably about unity and support for misophones and less the pain of it. Oh, and not using a logo from an existing organization or other communities preferably. Like, don’t copy the heard of hearing symbol.
(oh and a flag for misokinesia maybe? they can be a pair)
Beyond just a flag, we could have a symbol
A dog whistle would be cool, a sound only dogs can hear that no one else can, but unfortunately it has a lot more connotations that’s a no-go.
Maybe the “pause” symbol? Or a combination between the pause and play symbols to make it more obvious. Cus being somewhere trigger-less lets us pause our music and white noise, take out earbuds and earplugs, and relax.
Headphones or earplugs could work but it needs more. Maybe headphones with a flower where the soft part is supposed to be. But that’s probably too complicated. So maybe headphones with hearts (like symbol heart, not a human heart) on the ends?
I’ve seen a “misophonia rage rabbit” plush going around, so we could have a cute animal with a greatax or some kind of weapon? That may be leaning too far in the pain of it.
Maybe a megaphone? Hear me out, to amplify our own vocies due to misophonia being tragically overlooked a lot. Maybe there could be a
Miso soup would be kinda funny, cus sometimes I shorten misophonia to just miso.
im out of juice, will add on if I think of anything else

Shout out to people with mental illnesses that make them think bad/violent thoughts
People with OCD
People with Misophonia
People with Misokinesia
People with Cluster B personality disorders
People with Pschosis symptoms
People who are Depressed or have PTSD or C-PTSD
People with just really really bad intrusive thoughts
You are not your intrusive thoughts. It’s just a thought, you would never purposefully hurt somebody. I see you and I love you and you have nothing to be ashamed about.
Feel free to add more, this was all I could think of

Waiting for the day when scientist will do an actual research for misophonia/misokinesia and when other people will actually recognize it and stop saying to “just ignore the triggers”

humming and whistling
leg bouncing
footsteps
speech impediments
nail picking
beatboxing
loud laughing
shaky camerawork
when people move their hands around too much while talking
when people talk on the phone
the mouth sounds thag old ladies make
when people blink too much while talking
the flashing light on my headphones (which is ironic and torturous)
the alexa defualt alarm sound
When people say “een” instead of ing

Noticing somebody near you fidgeting can be distracting. Vexing. Even excruciating. But why?
According to the 2021 study, the stressful sensations caused by seeing others fidget are an incredibly common psychological phenomenon, affecting as many as one in three people.
Called misokinesia – meaning 'hatred of movements' – this strange phenomenon has been little studied by scientists, but has been noted in the research of a related condition, misophonia: a disorder where people become irritated upon hearing certain repetitious sounds. Misokinesia is somewhat similar, but the triggers are generally more visual, rather than sound-related, researchers say.
"[Misokinesia] is defined as a strong negative affective or emotional response to the sight of someone else's small and repetitive movements, such as seeing someone mindlessly fidgeting with a hand or foot," a team of researchers, led by first author and psychologist Sumeet Jaswal, then at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada, explained in the paper.
