guys, i think the hermits are going to accidentally start a prank war again. because just like last time, a game of telephone has begun. first, false made iskall's build into ''false beans,'' her shop from the previous season. however, to give herself plausible deniability, she signs it with "love, Joel. x" due to his username, smallishbeans.

next, iskall sees this, and completely believes it. he thinks it was joel who pranked him, and as he says to pearl while showing off the sign, which he kept even after tearing the prank down, "joel gave me a kiss." in his most recent video, he pranks joel by sending him loads of anonymous messages in order to completely spam and fill his inbox, preventing him from getting any more mail, with notes such as "thinking about you. x"

of course, joel is going to have absolutely no context for this, because he didn't make the initial prank. so who is joel going to assume sent him all those messages while he was away on holiday? well, i have a guess.

It's been really disheartening to see how many people willfully misinterpreted legitimate, nuanced conversations about racism/racialize xenophobia/homophobia/heteronormativity in DinLuke spaces.

I've seen so many people make this about "antis who think noncon is problematic" (it's not), or about "they think drawing gnc Luke is bad" (that was definitely not said), or just this general idea that this was every about darkdinluke creators in the first place (was certainly not).

The way everyone was so quick to assume this was just about "we don't like that noncon exists on principle," rather than the very real "this fandom has a pervasive issue that makes this fandom unsafe for members of marginalized communities, and that's not something you can just tag, block, and avoid, because it is literally everywhere," is not just disheartening, but disgusting. This fandom has and has always had deep rooted issues that, time after time, it refuses to confront head on.

And other people know it. I have a mutual who's hardly in the Star Wars/Mandalorian fandom who has referred to "what happened to DinLuke." People in other ship discord servers talk about it. It's all over twitter and reddit. This fandom is an embarrassment. Like, people make fun of us and judge us for how volatile and unsafe this fandom has become, and how unsafe it always has been.

This fandom has been steadily hemorrhaging fans for over a year because whenever people try to talk about it, they get harassed, accused of not caring about SA survivors, or, as this time has show, just deliberately misrepresented to the point that conversation literally can't happen, because there is no common ground or common understanding. Necessary disclaimer that these are not all things I've seen happen this week, rather things I've seen happen more than once in the last year and a half.

And I can't blame them for leaving.
