I know I already made a post about this. But ICWA is LITERALLY being challenged by a white couple that wants to adopt indigenous children to erase their culture and Christianize them. The tribe, whom has a say in who can take their children, is like "Nah, we don't want our youth Christianized like you tride last time"
And the lawyer that's helping the white couple try to overturn ICWA (so that they can erase the cultures of indigenous children) is doing it pro-bono (which means he's not charging the couple anything).
AND that lawyer is a big time lawyer whose clients are usually oil and gas industries. He's literally fighting for indigenous children to be ripped from their tribes and culture so there's less indigenous people to protest big oil destroying their sacred land.
This piece is particularly about Ashley Loring Heavyrunner, a member of the Blackfeet Tribe, who has been missing since 2017. Her family is still looking for her and we cannot let cases like hers die. Here is the fbi page if anyone can provide any information in helping find her
She is not the only one. Native women experience the highest rates of violence in the United States. We need to keep fighting for these women because their lives matter. They are living breathing humans and deserve to be more than a statistic

Survivors experienced horrific atrocities while prisoners in these institutions. It is important that this image show the love and strength that colonialism tried to steal from us. Despite genocide, we are still here – still fighting for justice and restitution, as true Warriors. - Dorene Bernard, Mi’kmaq Survivor who attended Shubenacadie Residential School
The blog @/mikerawtch followed me and other Native blogs, and it's one of those bots made by people who are spamming the MMIW tags by spreading blatantly racist, false posts that the MMIW crisis is a "scam"/"hoax", and the other blogs @/mittayent & @/yorkletorrez are also spreading the same. Make sure to block and report.
People of BC, now is the time to keep an eye out. Chelsey Anita Quaw (Holmes-Heron) has gone missing from the Saik’uz First Nation Reserve near Vanderhoof, BC. She has not been seen since the tenth of October, almost a week ago from the time of posting, and those close to her say this sort of no-contact-absence is not usual for her. It has also been said her dog may have been attacked the night prior to her disappearance, as well as possibly the night of, and her cellphone was found destroyed on the basement floor in her home. Chelsey was last seen wearing blue skinny jeans, and a bluish-purple or purple winter coat. Searches are still ongoing, and further information can be found below.
To restate what is said in the poster above, if you have information you are asked to call it in at (250)-567-2222.

Calls to search a Manitoba landfill for the remains of slain Indigenous women will be heard across the country tomorrow.
From Victoria to Halifax protesters will march to the steps of their local government buildings to protest and demand the Manitoba government pay to sift through over 61,000 tonnes of trash to bring home the bodies of four women, alleged to have been killed by one man.
Tara Martinez organized the Indigenous Day of Action which will happen with the provincial legislature as the backdrop.
“Our silence is compliance of the violence,” said Martinez, who oversees public education at the Children First Society of Canada.
thinking about nex benedict again and i feel like the possibility that her murder was at least partially racially motivated has been somewhat overlooked by the media. her attackers' races have not been specified by the media, but i can't help but feel like an indigenous girl dying after being viciously beaten in a school bathroom should be a bigger concern. is this not a case of concern for the missing and murdered indigenous women (mmiw) movement? is her nonbinary identity stopping the prudent discussions of misogyny and violence against native american women & girls?
The Supreme Court is set to hear out the possible overturning of ICWA in 2 weeks
The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) basically stopped the forced removal of indigenous children from their loving families and protected indigenous children from the forced Christianization that still hurts many indigenous adults to this day.
Today is Red dress day. Remember and Honour all of the Native Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two spirits that have gone missing and have been murdered. Most of these cases are never heard in the public and they are sadly forgotten. Today I want to spread awareness for all Indigenous people, I want to share my culture and help others understand the importance of sharing stories from these victims.
I will be donating as well on this day to several sites that support native women and girls. And also a few sites that want to protect ICWA. I suggest you do the same but if you are not financially able to then spread awareness respectfully.🧡🧡
(I’m doing Donation commission 50% of the profits go to NICWA! this post-> https://www.tumblr.com/walterdoodles/719214714265255936/im-opening-up-some-donation-commissions-if-you )
More voices are joining the increasing calls to search the Prairie Green Landfill for the bodies of two Indigenous women believed to be buried there.

The union, representing more than 35,000 Canada Revenue Agency employees across the country, is holding a national convention in Winnipeg this week. On Thursday afternoon, members joined dozens of others from the community in a march from the Fairmont Hotel to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
"We decided to come here to strongly condemn the inaction of the City of Winnipeg, the police department, the Province of Manitoba, and the federal government," said Marc Brière, president of the Union of Taxation Employees.
"Their refusal to search the Prairie Green Landfill is totally unacceptable."
Brière spoke in front of a large crowd at the museum, with more people joining the chorus of voices asking for the landfill to be searched.
"I'm asking you, if it would be three white women, if it were three white privileged males like myself, would they be searching the landfill?" he asked the crowd. "I think the chances would be greater."
The remains of Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran are believed to be in the landfill. Myran's sister Jordan was among the family members who spoke at the rally.
"I'd like to thank everyone who showed up today," she said. "And everyone that has showed up time and time again, for every protest and rally that we've put on."
Brière said the entire Union of Taxation Employees supports the search.
"We are here with you. We ask the municipality of Winnipeg, the police department, especially the premier of Manitoba…to get going and search the landfill," he said. "And the federal government to put the money on the table, to help out and get this done."
