D-Tier Poptropica Islands (Nostalgia Ranking)
I have to make the same disclaimer as before- this ranking is based purely on nostalgia- no critical thinking involved! I have reserved the D tier for islands that I remember actively disliking, though not hating as much as the F tier islands.
Skullduggery Island
Skullduggery is at the top of the D tier for me, and once again it is less due to the island itself and more my inability to beat it as a child. I ragequit this one multiple times and eventually just followed a walkthrough that literally said exactly where to sail and what to trade to beat the island. The only reason this was not F-tier was that I genuinely loved the pirate aesthetic, so I spent a lot of time just sailing around, not too worried about the main quest (which is probably another reason it took me so long to beat it). I remember there being a trading system that I did not understand at all when I first played this game, so I hope that the replay will be a lot more fun for me and I have high hopes that Skullduggery can really climb the tier list after my replay.
Poptropica trying to teach me economics when I was 9:

Vampire’s Curse Island
Vampire's Curse is in D because the only thing I remember about this island is that the first time I played it, I got to one of the final scenes- the one where you use the potion to heal the vampire- and it just didn’t work. I had to replay the entire island and when I finally reached that last scene it happened again. The third time was the charm and I was able to beat the island but let me just say that 10-year-old me had never experienced such frustration in my life, and I genuinely cannot remember anything about this island other than that final scene which is scarred into my mind. It’s not in F tier because I do remember that I thought the castle was super cool and while I was frustrated at the glitches, I still liked watching other people play walkthroughs of the island.
How Vampire's Curse had me feeling after 3 hours and 2 restarts:

Arabian Nights Island
I’m noticing a theme here-- if I remember correctly, this island also has some sort of trading (or was it crafting?) system. Not much to say as I really do not remember much from this one except that it was another island that required much much more walkthrough assistance than the others. Also, I could have sworn this was an episodic release like Survival and Mission Atlantis but I stand corrected by Poptropica Wiki.
My face when I saw another island that involved a trading mechanic:

Poptropolis Games Island
This is another island that I hated because I was so bad at it. In Jake Miller’s Youtube video that inspired my tier list, he mentioned that the controls were pretty bad, so maybe there’s a chance that my hating this island was less the fault of my tiny child hands and poor coordination and more due to poor game design. Only my attempt to replay it will tell!
Tumblr media
Mission Atlantis Island
Mission Atlantis is the last island in D tier- though to be clear I only ever played the first episode. I can’t really remember much except that I felt like it wasn’t very fun and I was disappointed when I finished the island and had not encountered any merpeople.
Me when I got all excited to play Mission Atlantis but didn’t get to reenact H2O Just Add Water:
Tumblr media
After finishing this D tier, I am most excited to revisit Skullduggery, since I feel like I would have loved it if I understood it at all. Once again, this is all based on nostalgia and this tier is pretty evident that I mainly hated the islands I was too stupid to figure out. Hopefully, 10 years later, I'm at least a little bit more intelligent (though it's doubtful). Follow my blog to see the rest of my nostalgia ranking, and how I rank these islands after revisiting them!

I feel as though people (mostly people who aren't insanely wataeipilled, or involved with shipping in general) are misunderstanding what we're upset about. It's not the simple assumption that we want wataei to be "canon" and that we're upset that that can't happen because of Eichi getting married, it's that HappyEle have been on a character assassination spree recently (Izumi in Mad Party & Kohaku in Last Mission) and we're worried that's going to happen to Wataru and/or Eichi. Regardless of shipping, Eichi never told Wataru, who's supposed to be his "best friend" that he's essentially been engaged to Tori's sister for the best part of a year. If Wataru isn't upset about this, then they've done it once again, because Wataru trusts Eichi to take his mask off around him; whilst the mask is "him", the "mask's purpose" (the title of his card in EP:Link) is to hide oneself. Wataru took it off for EICHI and Eichi ALONE. He put himself on display, allowed his facade to begin to fade around him and be his authentic "self" and opened himself up to possibly even be hurt (which he was immediately, by the way, and CRIED over it. HIBIKI WATARU. CRIED. Because Eichi was indifferent to his confession of love) because he trusts Eichi, and Eichi's told Wataru before (Tempest) that he also trusts him. So, is it or is it not blatant character assassination, and possibly even going back on their more recent development of becoming more honest with each other, if Wataru is not upset with this development?

We already knew that Monkey Wrench was the start of the main storyline, but the fact that Survival Island is technically the end O-O
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had no idea that they actually acknowledged the aliens were the same. Coolio.
Tumblr media
Figured as much. But how come when the problem is solved, the islands don't immediately go back? Scary. And I think it's an even greater risk to have them interact with each other in such a way...
Tumblr media
Especially considering...

Things like this can happen.

There's a scene in "Rising" where Sheppard says to Weir, "Doctor, this is why you brought me here." And I've always read that line as being about him demonstrating his ability with Ancient tech and that giving them a tactical advantage, as he has just discovered the jumper's cloaking mechanism.
But for some reason this time I really Noticed all the times in the episode they reference the Incident in Afghanistan, Sheppard's "black mark," and I noticed the second half of Weir's line when I'd previoisly always focused on the first part: "All right, so you can fly that thing. It doesn't mean you can pull off a rescue."
So when Sheppard replies this is why you brought me here, what he means is "you knew I would always prioritise the safety and wellbeing of others over my own wellbeing and would sacrifice everything in order to rescue and protect them."

The Seed, AKA, welcome to the Pegasus Galaxy Mr. Woolsey.
I compromised the safety of this base to rescue someone who may well have been beyond our help anyway.
Now Woolsey knows why Sheppard doesn't play by the rules.
I enjoy this episode because we get to see Woolsey taken down a few notches, but also made to better understand what life is actually like in Atlantis. I love that Sheppard basically goes into leader/older brother/dad mode for his whole team because Woolsey isn't really inspiring confidence. I love that when Sheppard is quarantined, Teyla steps up right up. I love that Sheppard is in full Lieutenant Colonel Suicide Mission mode, taking the drug first and then administering it to Keller. I love that he was ready to shoot Keller, but even gut-stabbed he didn't. I love Carson. (Why is his hair so dark??? It always bothers me. Looks fake.)
At the start of the episode when they're gathered around Woolsey's new conference room table, Rodney says, "The fact that Sheppard's here makes all the difference, right?" He's referencing The Last Man, and it just made me happy because Rodney basically spoke for us, the viewer. Sheppard is here. So, no matter how bad it gets, Sheppard will make the difference. That how they feel and how Atlantis feels, and how we feel. Sheppard will see everyone through the dark times and back into the light of home.
Out of every one hundred men, ten shouldn’t even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back.”

Cancelled missions: STS-61-G
Tumblr media
This NASA Space Shuttle mission planned to launch on May 20, 1986, using Atlantis.
Tumblr media
Atlantis would have launched as soon as Challenger landed from STS-61-F. The main objective of this mission was to launch the Galileo spacecraft toward Jupiter using the Centaur-G upper stage.
It was cancelled after the Challenger disaster. See my post on STS-61-F for more info, link.
Tumblr media
The Galileo probe was later launched on October 18, 1989 from STS-34 Atlantis.

I may be wholly unhappy with sgu but I would like one of those friend-shaped floaty cameras. I feel like they would've been a fun addition to atlantis (seeing as they're lantean technology)

The aliens from Lunar Colony are the same ones from Mission Atlantis
Tumblr media
Yeah baby. I didn't make this photo btw
And they studied Earth animals
Tumblr media
And they want humans to visit them
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ship from Mission Atlantis arrived on the planet (i can't call it Earth or Poptropica cause it's confusing as fuck) long before humans came around.
The alien base on the moon wanted humans specifically, so they must've made it many years later.

More hug headcanons!
Controversial opinion but Elizabeth's does not give good hugs. They are sweet and you can definitely tell the thought is there, but her hugs feel somewhat stiff and formal.
Carson definitely gives good hugs. Very warm and comforting. Almost as good as John's but nowhere near as rare (supply and demand). Will hug anyone who asks and will give a "Would you like a hug, love?" to anyone who seems even the tiniest bit sad or upset. They're incredibly healing in their own right.
Rodney doesn't hug. You'll get an awkward side hug and/or a pat on the back at best.
yessssss hug headcanons so good!!!
honestly i can 100% believe that elizabeth gives bad hugs 😂😂 although i think the only person she can give a good hug to is teyla. teyla is the only person she can relax enough around to give a proper hug to
carson absolutely gives amazing hugs and he regularly offers them to all his patients when doing rounds. rodney complains about it and carson pulls out 3 different studies that prove hugs can improve healing
rodney does not hug anyone. ronon loves to hug him and rodney stands there very awkwardly every time (he secretly loves when ronon hugs him tho)

DS9's "Second Skin" once again shaming the Stargate Atlantis writing team by doing an episode they wrote but over 10 years earlier and 50 times better. I went on a rant about "Sunday" vs "Lessons" a couple years ago, but watching "Second Skin" is like seeing what "Michael" could have been if written by people who understood drama instead of only being acted by people who did. There are definitely differences, like we start out having a relationship with Kira which we don't with Lt Kenmore, but with the whole fake identity plot having the person's actual parent there makes it sooooooo much more emotional. (This is what I wanted from "Michael"!! Not just handing him a stock photo that literally looks like it came with the frame and telling him "These are your parents." But an actual emotional connection, any tie for him to cling to to believe your bullshit and not just Teyla being quietly agreeable like whoring her out is the only way you can sell your lies. Because, here in DS9 as well, the lies are so obviously bullshit.) But making it a double blind also, where you lied to the parent as well to make sure you manipulated that honest emotional connection into existing, fantastic, exquisite, Stargate wishes. And in the end the point of the episode is different, as Lt Kenmore is the focus of his episode and Kira is really just the excuse to expose the Legate by having him try to protect his "daughter," but (and as much as I love "Michael") the emotional content here is so much deeper and sweeter. Maybe SGA writers are allergic to honest emotions, or maybe the writers were trying to hedge their bets with not portraying their main cast as being as evil as the Obsidian Order... though if you're going to go with the war crimes go whole hog with the war crimes come on.
