A selection of late summer wildflowers growing in the riparian zone along the Monongahela River at the Friendship Hill National Historic Site.
From top: Paleleaf woodland sunflower (Helianthus strumosus), also known as pale-leaved sunflower, distinguished by long leaf petioles and a pale leaf underside; common sneezeweed (Helenium autumnale), a water-loving aster whose dried leaves were once used to make snuff; cardinal flower (Lobelia cardinalis), whose scarlet, five-lobed flowers draw hummingbirds as pollinators; the closely-related great blue lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica), which early settlers once used as a treatment for syphilis (wishful thinking); and blue mistflower (Conoclinium coelestinum), or wild ageratum, a native aster that has become popular as a garden plant.

As a note, about a dozen sunflowers call NC-WV - SW PA home and they readily hybridize, often complicating identification. Pale-leaved sunflower has a tall, branching structure up to 7 feet in height and dense clusters of large flowers. In addition to long petioles and a pale leaf underside, this sunflower has a smooth stem with a whitish bloom to it. It's a very beautiful mid-to-late summer aster and one of my favorite wildflowers of Central Appalachia.

The words I found on Google most of the words in my Moodboard Picture Edits are from things I find on the internet so the rights go to the original people I sometimes mix my own the pictures are mine so I thought it would be funny to have Gerry trying flirt with my OC Character Peta Mistflower but Chris Mclean doesn't like what's going on so he beats him up because he thinks Gerry flirting with him when he's not Gerry gets mad because he wants his answer from Peta Mistflower.

While napping with Tighnari is cozy, Chongyun's dream's take a far less cozy turn.
In their dreams, they see flashes of fire, hearing angry, muted voices screaming at each other from a distance. There's a name being called, and they turn, as though answering said call. It's not their name though, is it?
They start walking toward the mysterious voice, sounding so very familiar. They need answers, they want to find... family? There are figures up ahead. All flashing by too fast for the exorcist to keep track. But there's still fire, and it's so warm, and the air is tense and chaotic. But those voices are too hypnotic to ignore.
In reality, the still-sleeping form of Chongyun rises up out of bed. He sits upright for a moment before rising to his feet, stumbling ever so slightly as he makes his way out of Tighnari's house. Utterly silent, eyes barely open in slits, but he's moving forward regardless, step by very small step. (yakshaverse.)
Despite the many ailments that Tighnari has assisted with and treated, sleepwalking is one that he's never encountered before. Prior to this particular incident, he would have said that was likely fortuitous, given the fact that Gandharva Ville is situated high up in the trees and would certainly make for a very dangerous path for a potential sufferer. At the moment, however? The ranger wishes that he had some form of experience with the matter.
He's always been a relatively light sleeper, and the sound of the mattress creaking from movement, followed by the loss of a warm body that had been previously curled up around him, is more than enough to rouse the Forest Watcher. Groggy eyes blink blearily through the vestiges of sleep, with Tighnari turning over in bed as he murmurs out his partner's name in confusion. Even more bewildering, however, is that Chongyun doesn't reply to him.
Turning himself around, Tighnari quickly spots the exorcist as they stumble towards the doorway, certainly not as steady as they normally would have been. Shaking off whatever remains of his nap, the fox quickly climbs to his feet, sensing that something is off as he follows after his mate, brows furrowing with concern.

"Yun? Are... you alright?" A hand reaches out, settling upon the cryo-user's shoulder and giving a small squeeze. "Is something wrong?"

Photos from a late summer bike ride on the Mon River Trail. With autumn just around the corner, the climatic, life-sustaining ceremonies of the season have taken on a frantic, bittersweet urgency, from the proliferation of late summer blooms to the frantic chirrups of insects in search of mates before they succumb to the first frost of October. As the deep greens of summer fade and begin to sacrifice themselves to a fiery self-immolation, I salute Nature’s relentless push to plant the seeds of next year’s renewal.
From top: broadleaf arrowhead (Sagittaria latifolia), also known as duck-potato and wapato, an attractive aquatic plant whose edible tuber was an important source of starch for Native Americans; great blue lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica); a showy relative of cardinal flower with blue, split-lip flowers; blue mistflower (Conoclinium coelestinum), also known as wild ageratum and blue boneset, an unusual late summer aster with disc flowers only; tall coreopsis (Coreopsis tripteris), also known as tall tickseed, a grand, stately perennial up to 8 feet tall  with distinctive tripartite leaves; a goldenrod soldier beetle (Chauliognathus pensylvanicus) navigating a wingstem flower (Verbesina alternifolia); northern spicebush (Lindera benzoin), a colonizing shrub whose luminous yellow leaves in fall contrast with its brilliant-red, aromatic berries; and pale-leaved sunflower ( Helianthus strumosus), a perennial sunflower whose leaves are mostly opposite in arrangement with long petioles and pale undersides.

I got bored and wrote a thing about my beast cookie oc :)
Soft footsteps ring out against the stone walls of the mausoleum. The young cookie walks forward easily, having traced this path since she was young.
She was the only one fit for the duty of caretaker, due to the ability of the beast that resided within.
One look and you’d be turned into solid stone, a literal statue of your former self. There was no known cure, either.
Mistflower cookie, however, was blind. She was immune to the effects, and the perfect one to serve the beast.
Not that the beast would do much, it seemed like all she ever did was look at herself in the mirror and cry. It made Mistflower cookie feel a little bad herself, but she got used to it after around the hundredth time.
She stopped and shuffled slightly, trying to find where the first step was. The stairs were always the most difficult part of the journey.
Eventually she found it, and started carefully making her way up.
She finally crossed the final step, and called out
“Miss?”
“I’m here.” A voice echoed back. It was slightly raspy. Mistflower cookie stepped forward, and something crunched under her feet.
“You’ve been looking at yourself again.” It was more of a statement than a question, as she felt around a little, gently shifting the glass into a small, uneven pile to clean later.
“I’m sorry.” The apology had been genuine around the first twenty times she had heard it, but eventually it began to ring hollow. It wasn’t as if Mistflower cookie was in any place to reprimand her, and it wouldn’t help anyway. She was the beast of Stagnation, and she’d never change.
(Ok that was fun but I’m kinda out of energy now! Thanks for reading, I will probably delete this augh)
