If I see one more person call this podcast British I'm rewriting the ending so it turns out Stranger was the Curator all along.

I think I got cursed by a monkey paw: all the amazing podcast stories! representation other media can only dream of, so many blorbos somehow encapsulating my exact taste
…and smallest fandoms ever. All of it, just for a tiny bunch of people who know about it. Even less with you can share it
I’m pretty sure in some instead of screaming into the void and catching similarly desperate fans…the only fish around is actual authors of the thing I’m going crazy about

literally if u have ever listened to any of the magnus archives or welcome to nightvale you Need to listen to The Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity and Mortality it's so so so so so so good. it's an anthology where every story, usually 2-3 an episode, it about a display in a museum that collects the stranger and supernatural artifacts and things connected to those stories. the narrator is a sentient museum audio guide who's genuinely one of my favorite characters ever and it's just. it's so good.

Alive, I like one-man narrator podcasts like Mistholme, TMA, and WtNV 8D Any recommendations, particularly spooky ones?
im sorry if i rec you things you've already heard off but
horror podcast recommendation list part 4 people DO love talking into microphones
Mabel : mabel is a podcast about a woman named anna who is a home care provider for an old woman and tries to get in contact with the woman's grand daughter by leaving her voicemails. the show describes itself as being about ghosts, family secrets, strange houses and missed connections. its been going on for a few years so its got a healthy backlog. its very poetic.
The Deca Tapes: not technically one man but its one person per episode, the deca tapes are about several people with no recollection of who they are or how they got their carrying out provided tasks on a space ship. every episode is interupted by a news broadcast that somehow relates to the person narrating that episode. amongus jokes aside, there is a murder and they all handle it so incredibly poorly, but thats what we want in a horror podcast right? eight episodes, short and mean.
Modes Of Thought In Anterran Literature: okay, you're in college and you need to take a history class for your actual major. you find on that works for your schedule, the teacher is decent so sure why not. you show up to the lecture and slowly realize that this guy is lecturing with an absolute authority on a place that does not exist. modes of thought in anterran literature is basically a series of recorded lectures about a place that does not(?) exist but the guy lecturing is incredibly instant that it does. technically three season i think but the episodes are pretty short.
hope something here works for you <3

Audio Drama Sunday - 12th November ✨
I’ve LOVED everything that’s touched my ears this week. Going to start this round up with a brand new instant favourite 🧡
🧳 Travelling Light (1) we all knew that whatever @monstrousproductions ’s next venture was, it would be bloody brilliant but Travelling Light is so far up my street, it’s parked in my drive. I LOVE wholesome sci-fi and this show promises to be that and more. I can’t wait for the next episode! 🥰

👁️ @malevolentcast (37) we’re on a farm! and it’s bloody horrible!!! Poor Oscar, man. If God did bring him to Arthur then God has a funny little sense of humour.
🌒 @monkeymanproductions I finally found time to listen to the Jaxon bonus episode and it was so lovely 🥺 I love the pair of them so much and it was so nice learn more about the past while hearing their plans for the future! I also can’t wait to hear the next one!!
🏛 @the-mistholme-museum UNCERTAIN. Unlike the head of retrieval, I am a big fan of time travel shit and it was done in such a fun way in this episode. The security issue has become even more of a mystery!! Part of me can’t wait to get to the bottom of it and part of me doesn’t want the show to end 😅
🧛‍♂️ @re-dracula It’s over!! I never would have made it through the dailies without this wonderful audio experience. A huge congrats to the cast and crew for all their hard work!!
🐬 @patterspod I listened to the glow while cycling into work yesterday and it was great but it sure set me up in a strange mood for the day ahead
🌨️ HELL YEAH @thewhitevault (2). Let’s explore how humans contribute to the horrors. This whole situation in the woods is horrifying and one of my absolute favourite things about this show is how natural the acting is, it’s all too believable and it makes it so much scarier.
Hope everyone has had a good week!! I’m planning on trying to finish Wolf 359 next week… I don’t know if I’m emotionally ready!!

🤩 Episode One Hundred and Ten is live! 🎉

[Image: The Monstrous Agonies logo, teal against a black background. The logo is a complex puzzle cube with M on one face and A on another in a gothic font. End description.]
This week, a listener trying to handle sudden changes in their relationship; and someone finding it hard to communicate…
Listen on our website, on iTunes, or wherever you get your podcasts. Full transcript available online.
Tonight’s letter was submitted by Darla and this week's advert came from Bug. Thanks, friends 💖
Lots of thanks to get through this week because we have been blessed with a glut of guest voices! First up, the gorgeous Dom Guilfoyle returns as the voice of The CEO! 🥰
Dom is the creator of @the-mistholme-museum, which takes its listeners on a tour of a museum unlike any other, and @tales-from-the-low-city, an anthology series about a strange underground city and the people who call it home.
We also have Elizabeth Plant reprising her role as Mab, and doing it with as much aplomb as always! See more of her work at her website, at www.elizabethplant.com, and find her on Twitter @CelestielleVA.
This week also features a little cameo from everybody's favourite wine ant, The Understudy, voiced of course by Sophie B. When they're not sploshing about in the bath whittering about Cats (1998), Sophie is a fabulous artist and illustrator. Find them on tumblr @aestheticcluttercore and on Twitter and Instagram @trashlordbarbie
Finally, this is the episode you've all (or at least, some of you) have been waiting for, which features the voices of Monstrous Agonies listeners! Thank you so so much to everyone who contributed, it was a surprisingly emotional process and I'm so glad to have been able to include you in the show! 💞
If you're enjoying the show, remember to sign up for a monthly pledge on Patreon, or make a one-off donation at www.ko-fi.com/hrowen. And if you're not in a position to support it financially, it's always a huge help to share your love of the show and help us get more listeners tuning in! EDIT - and in all the excitement, I forgot to say! The inbox is now OPEN for your questions for the end of season Q&A. Send them in via DM on Tumblr or Twitter, by email, through the website, or send an Ask right here on Tumblr - though if you send an Ask, please specify that it's for the Q&A and let me know what your pronouns are! See you next week at the season finale!

i love when narrators forcibly enter the story as a plot-influencing character. i love how the story ascribes a physical manifestation to the narrative to the point that it is personified completely. i love how the lens by which we view the story is shattered by introducing a person with flaws and logical fallacies and causes us to wonder if perhaps they were unreliable all along, to consider how much of the story could have been changed through their eyes. i love when the narrator, who used to be completely in control of the narrative they told, has that safety ripped out of their hands by an outer force that positions them as the one to be consumed. i love when the line between the watcher and the watched is blurred to the point that we can no longer see who's truly telling the story
