✦ Initially, I think he would be very shocked at your sudden revelation. When he begins to think about his duties as a hashira and now having to balance the responsibility of being a father it would definitely be a sudden shock.

✦ After the initial consternation, he’d be very involved. Making sure he went to all of the appointments with you.

✦ In the early months of pregnancy, he’d wake up early in the mornings to hold your hair back with your morning sickness. He’d rub your back in circles and even offer to give your shoulders a massage to relax you.

✦ He’d make it his priority to cook for you and keep up with the housework. He doesn’t want you to lift a finger while you are creating a literal miracle in your stomach.

✦ At the end of every day, he’d put you to sleep by rubbing your feet and massaging your body thoroughly.

✦ In the later months of pregnancy when your back began to ache more cruelly, he’d stand behind you and lift your stomach for you if even for just a few minutes of relief.

✦ Whenever you had weird cravings that you didn’t already have in your home, he’d drop whatever he was doing just to get it for you.

✦ You and Shinobu have been trying to become pregnant with the help of a donor so after a few long months of trying when she heard you had finally got pregnant she was ecstatic.

✦ She’d make sure that either Aoi, Sumi, Kiyo or Naho was with you at all times to ensure that you got the best care during your pregnancy.

✦ Since you stayed at the butterfly mansion with her, all of your care would take place there. Meaning, your remedies and ultrasounds didn’t require an appointment and you could stay in the comfort of your home which was a huge advantage.

✦ She’d definitely be the kind of parent that talks to your baby constantly. She read in a few parenting books that playing certain music, consistently talking to your stomach etc.. is beneficial and sets time aside to do so every night.

✦ When she does have to go away on missions, she sends her sister or assistants to keep you company and attend to your every need. She’s a big writer and will send you letters to read out loud to the baby while she is away.

✦ She believes a key component to having a happy child is to make sure that her relationship with you as her counterpart is healthy and strong too. Even with you being pregnant, she’d still find ways to keep your relationship firm. Movie dates, taking you on walks around the mansion when the weather was nice and if you were feeling well enough.. etc.

✦ She’d decorate the baby room with lots of butterflies, dragonflies, and things of that nature. She likes to bring you in there with her while she decorates so that even though you couldn’t help, you could still be apart of the process.

✦ He’d be a little nervous about it. His upbringing wasn’t very loving and he wouldn’t want to hurt damage the child like how he was growing up.

✦ After you were able to reassure him that he wasn’t like his father and that he could do right by the child, he would be excited to start a family with you.

✦ He is such a gentleman. With your morning sickness in the morning he’d hold your hair back and rub your back in circles. He’d make you breakfast etc..

✦ When it was time for you to wash up, he’d run your water for you. Making sure to put in some relaxing oils, lighting candles for you, flower petals in the water, etc.

✦ He would make sure to wash your hair and massage your scalp. Keeping you relaxed and as stress-free was one of his priorities as a new parent. Keeping you calm was the key to having a healthy baby.

✦ When coming back from missions, he’d always make sure to bring back something for you. Whether that be flowers, one of your craving foods or simply an item for the baby or the baby room. He is always thinking about you and the baby.

✦ During missions, he’d have someone from the Demon Corp stay with you during the night to make sure that you were protected and taken care of when he had to be away on missions.

✦ As Tengen's 4th wife, he has had every intention of starting a family with the 4 of you and it was just a matter of who was going to get pregnant to start the family.

✦ When you told Tengen, Hina, Suma and Makio about your pregnancy they all had very different reactions but all had the same feeling about it: Joy. Suma was crying from how excited she was while Makio scolded her for stressing you out. Hina and Tengen came by your side to hug you tightly upon hearing the news.

✦ Tengen doesn't usually do the cooking and he typically leaves that chore to Hina but he does deliver whatever she makes to you on a silver tray so that you don't have to get up from your bed to get it.

✦ He doesn't like to leave you unprotected, especially when you are carrying his child so whenever he is gone on missions, he will leave one of his other wives with you.

✦ Tengen would go overboard on the baby room, making sure that it was flashy enough for his child. Meaning that upon building the crib, he'd glue rhinestones to it and painting everything a metallic color.

✦ When going shopping for baby clothes, Tengen practically begs you to let him pick everything out and of course, who are you to deny him? The baby's closet consists of what Tengen considers to be 'flashy.'

✦ Makio, Suma and Hina know how badly it must hurt your back while being pregnant and suggest to all have a date at the hotspring which Tengen agrees is a flashy idea. Since then, you all make it a point to go to the hotspring at least once a week to help your aches.

✦ Mitsuri and yourself have been trying for a baby with the help of a donor (Obanai). When it didn't seem like it was in the cards for you to carry the child, she offered to try. To both of your surprise, you ended up pregnant at the same time.

✦ Since you are both pregnant, you take turns making the other food and bringing it to them while the other relaxes.

✦ You both are incredibly emotional during this time and one of your favorite things to do together as of late is to watch movies. During this, you both need a tissue box for yourself.

✦ You both have complete opposite cravings. You tend to crave things on the sour/tangy side while she craves things on the sweeter/tart side.

✦ You love to decorate the baby room together, each working on a side of the room. When it comes time to build the cribs and move in the furniture, you call in Obanai to help you which he does without a fuss.

✦ Mitsuri once read in a parenting magazine that exercise helps with contractions and giving birth later along the line. She signs you both up to do a prenatal yoga class and it ends up being a wonderful way to manage your back pain.

✦ Mitsuri often practices different hairstyles on you in the case that your babies are girls. She watches tutorials for boys hair as well and practices on Tanjiro's hair, who she called just for the part. You can't help but laugh at the different styles but it's all heartwarming to see how excited she is to start a family with you.

✦ Obanai would freeze in his tracks upon hearing the words "I'm pregnant" come out of your mouth. Did he want to start a family with you? Of course. Was he nervous about it? Absolutely.

✦ He probably would not bring too much attention to the fact that you two were expecting a child, especially to the other hashiras. The only reason anyone found out was because You were seen at the Butterfly Mansion getting a check up and Shinobu asked about it.

✦ He believes in your capabilities and will not coddle you. However, if you ask him to make you food, help you up.. etc.. He will come running to your side and ready to help.

✦ He makes sure to report all of your appointments to Master Kagaya so he can have time blocked off to attend them with you.

✦ Despite him being seemingly cold, he is very involved with your pregnancy and incredibly soft with you in general.

✦ He buys a bunch of snake plushies for the baby room to help the child become accustomed to being around snakes and eventually, Kaburamaru.

✦ In the evenings, you will find Obanai reading parenting manuals and preparing for his role as a father. He wants to be the best he can be for both you and his newborn child.

✦ Similar to Obanai, Sanemi would be shocked the moment the words left your mouth. Was he ready for this? Were you ready for this?

✦ Because of his parents passing, he didn't really know how to be very paternal but damn if he wasn't going to try.

✦ He helps you around the house by doing the things you can't do. Bending down to pick up the laundry off the floor, making sure the sweeping and mopping is kept up with, loading the dishwasher, etc..

✦ He's very protective over you and will be extremely protective over his child. World be damned if anything came to try and harm his family.

✦ He doesn't necessarily understand how you could crave something one day and absolutely hate that same thing another day but he tries to keep up with whatever you are enjoying and keep it on hand in the house.

✦ He panics when you cry at seemingly small things and he will do anything to calm you down. He realizes overtime that you are just extremely emotional during this time and treads carefully with his jokes. He definitely keeps the teasing down to a minimum.

✦ He practices putting on diapers, making bottles, etc.. in the evening when you are asleep (and when he isn't called out on a mission). He wants you to be able to help with the baby without asking for help.

✦ When you tell Gyomei about your pregnancy, He's on his knees and praying to the gods to thank them for such a blessing.

✦ He is very tender with you after the initial news. Constantly checking on you to see if you need anything. Have you had enough to eat? He is bringing you a plate just in case. Are you thirsty? He is bringing water. Are you comfortable? He is fluffing out your pillow for you and helping you adjust in bed.

✦ Gyomei is the king of massages. If you complain about any area of your body being achey, his immediate response is to massage it.

✦ When decorating the baby room, he would be sure to keep it very minimalistic. He doesn't want it to be without your approval though, so he carries you in there to make sure everything is exactly how you envisioned it to be.

✦ He carries you around everywhere now. He does not let your feet hit the ground. Although, if you tell him that you want to walk he'd reluctantly put you down and allow you to do so.

✦ He prays over you every evening, praying for your safety and healthy, the safety and health of the child, praying that he will be a good enough father to lead the child in the right direction etc..

✦ If other hashiras were to ask about you two expecting, he certainly would not keep it a secret and would be excited to share the news but he wouldn't directly start a conversation about it.

✦ Kagaya already has two children of his own, so when he hears about you being pregnant with a 3rd, he is more than excited.

✦ He is very gentle, helping you where you need it and making sure that you are keeping up with your needs.

✦ You all already have the baby furniture put in storage from when you had your last two children so setting up the baby room is a piece of cake for the two of you.

✦ He is very big on essential oils and he constantly has a diffuser on. He even goes as far as to apply the oils to your skin. He believes it helps regulate your mood, helps with your nausea and reduces your pain level which, to your surprise, it does.

✦ Like Shinobu, he plays music in the rooms you are in and is constantly reading to your stomach at night.

✦ When you are feeling particularly emotional, he will hold you in his arms and provide a listening ear to all of your concerns. He validates you and makes sure to reassure/ provide a plan to each and every one of your concerns.

✦ He makes sure to attend all of your appointments and when he gets your ultrasound pictures, he will take them to the hashira meeting to show them to everyone who are all just as excited as he is.

Inosuke Hashibira x Reader (Mine)

Hey @mystikalini, I did the thing...

Summary: Inosuke thinks you're weird, his kind of weird, which makes you his, right? Of course he doesn't tell you that nearly as well as he tells everyone else.

You've got no clue when it happened, he tumbled into your life like a hurricane, ploughing through everything in his wake.

You were about a year older than him and met Inosuke and his friends on a job.

He didn't seem to care that the demon you were there to kill was still very much alive when he ran into you and hurled you against a wall, demanding "Fight me!"

At the time, you thought he'd gone insane, fear and adrenaline addling his brain to the point of this ridiculousness.

Later, you realised that he was just that nuts.

You did end up fighting him, and the demon, all at once. It was utter chaos, both Tanjiro and Zenitsu nearly blew a fuse over watching you two go for each other between swinging at the demon.

For a first meeting, it's impossible to forget.

Inosuke would only back off when Tanjiro threatened to headbutt him, while Zenitsu fawned over your sword skills and begged you to protect him.

From that point on, Inosuke would try and find reasons to challenge you. You made a point never to lift your blade to him again, and instead discovered a new way to get him to back off.

'You're kinda cute when you jump around like that.'

If not for that bore mask, you would have seen the blush colouring his cheeks, but thanks to that mask, all you see is the hot air he blows as he sputters at you.

'I am Lord Inosuke, King of the mountain! I ain't cute damnit!'

You giggled, loving your new advantage against this, a live hurricane of human.

It was a joke at first, you swore it was, but the longer it went on, the less funny it was.

Without being able to fight you, he found other ways to "compete" with you. Who can train for longer, who can get to the mission faster, who can eat more. Of course, all of these competitions exist purely in his own head, and end up driving you to spend a lot of time together.

If you're cooking, he looms over you, trying to steal bites until you rap his knuckles one too many times. He relents to just talking to you, sitting on the highest point he can reach like some kind of cat watching over you work.

You're too busy to notice that he's taken the boar off his head and propped it under his arm, chin resting on his fist as he watches you move.

His eyes linger on the care you take with each ingredient, ears catching the tune you started humming when he lapsed into comfortable silence.

You're weird, he's decided that's the reason he likes watching you so much. No one else makes everything look so easy, even when you don't get it right, you smile and laugh yourself off, only to try again.

Yeah, weird. Your smile's weird too, lights up a whole damn room like a candle.

You're weird...but you're his kinda weird. That's what he's decided.

Did he tell you about this decision? Absolutely not.

It's not like you need to know about it, everyone else does.

Overnight, he went from being your friend to being downright possessive.

You were talking to Tanjiro about some new training exercises Mitsuri told you about, when you suddenly felt a heavy weight on your shoulder, warm breath and the smell of animal fur filling your senses.

Inosuke leans heavily on your shoulder, boar hat skewed back to his face is just about visible, scowling at poor Tanjiro in absolute, creepy silence.

'Uh...hey Inosuke, are you feeling okay?' Tanjiro muttered awkwardly, only continuing to receive that blank silence with a glare to strip flesh from bone.

You looked back and forth between the boys, feeling the warmth rise to your face as Inosuke's bare chest is now pressed into your back, his arm draped over yours.

The silence drags on for another few seconds before Tanjiro breaks eye contact, and your world is suddenly upside down as Inosuke sweeps you unceremoniously off your feet.

'HEY! What the hell are you doing?!'

'He was lookin' at ya funny,' Is his only explanation as he starts away, practically running down the halls. 'You're my mate, not even Gonpachiro gets to look at you like that.'

'I'm you what now?!'

'Duh, my mate. You're the only one good enough so obviously I'm the only one good enough for you.'

He explained it as if it were obvious and had you draped over his shoulder like a sack of flower, but despite the entire lack of care in the apparent way he handled you, you couldn't help but feel your hear swell.

His words sank deep, soothing old insecurities, and you couldn't help but giggle at the sheer ridiculousness of it all. It's so very Inosuke, you can barely stand it.

'Hey, who're you laughin' at damnit?!'

He slammed you back upright so fast you were almost thrown out of total concentration breathing, vision spinning as you re-set to upright mode.

Your smile returned and before he could think to stop you, you tipped the boar up and leaned up, planting your lips on his.

He turned redder than Tanjiro's hair and froze, lips unresponsive until you poked him gently in the ribs, from there he was working on pure instinct, and his instincts have always been perfect.

'See? Told you, you're my mate!'

'Whatever you say, weirdo.'

"dont hurt me" a chid sat behind some crates as they waited oh so much for it to just go away.

'its so loud... please.. GO AWAY!" it screamed and it was gone.

"please someone help" ....

"its ok now child. you are safe"

the child looked up to see who her saviour was, he was really tall and had a green happi draped over his shoulders.

"woah" the child continued to stare in amazement at how big and strong the man looked, when all of a sudden he bean to cry.

"bwah, n-no! sorry mister! please don't cry!" it yelled as they hugged his legs as they also bean to cry.

he put a hand on her head, and gave her a small smile "what's your name little one?" they stared up at him before turning to look over at her town.

"y/n... " a frown fell upon her face as she realized what had actually happened. "what your name".

"you can call me Gyomei. come now, let us pray for the people that were lost"

"Gyo-kun... what now" Gyomei had no idea what to do with the child now, the child's whole town had been demolished with them being the only survivor.

"such a sad thing indeed..." he felt pitiful for the child, and despite his past he still decided to welcome them into his life.

"come on, you can stay with me"

Thought Experiment: Hashira Hide n Seek

Tengen is seeking, he think he has the advantage because of his sensitive hearing but little does he know . . .

Mitsuri is found first - she’s hiding in a kitchen cupboard

Muichiro is next - he forgot they were playing and wondered onto the training grounds. Tengen double takes cuz he thought he was another lower slayer

Then Sanmei - he didn’t beat Giyuu and ges pissed, but he when he figures out where Giyuu is he finds it halarious that Tengen managed to pass him. Sanmei attempted to hide on the roof

Gyomei is 4th - whilst outside he finds Gyomei behind the thickest tree in the corner

Then it’s Rengoku - idk where he’s hiding he attempted to pose as another slayer on purpose but his hair is a big give away

Suprisingly Giyuu manages to be in third place, Shinobu encouraged him to disguise as some friend of Amane’s and Tengen actually passed him a good few times til he noticed

In second place - Shinobu, also in a kitchen cupboard, Mitsuri acted as her decoy <3

Obanai is hiding in a space in which only Obanai could hide. He’s crawled into an attic or under some floorboards, they have to tell him him he wins in order to get him to come out.

Nothing to Worry About

I guess you could say this is a prequel to A Warm, Inviting Family. Since I’m still jobless, I decided to write while looking for a job.

~*~

“They’re here, they’re here!” Misturi was bouncing with excitement.

Rengoku and Y/N entered the master’s house. IN Y/N’s arm was their newborn baby, fast asleep. Mistrui squealed and ran over with Tengen’s wives behind them.

“Oh my gosh, is that her?” Misturi asked. “Y/N, she’s perfect! Look at how small she is!”

“She already has some hair, look!” Makio pointed. “It’s the color of Rengoku’s.”

“She’s adorable! I bet she’ll be pretty, just like Y/N!” Suma said.

“We shouldn’t be smothering her like this,” Hinatsuru said. “But this is exciting. You’re the first of us to have a baby Y/N.”

“It was an exciting pregnancy. Ruka took a while to get out,” Y/N chuckled. “Misturi, Rengoku asked me to allow you to hold the baby first.”

“Really? I can hold her?” Misturi asked.

“Of course! Out of everyone, you were the most excited,” Y/N said. “Plus, you were so helpful. So please, sit down.”

Misturi squealed again before she sat down. She was vibrating with joy. You chuckled as you handed your baby over to the Love Hashria. Misturi looked down at Ruka with so much love; it was a precious scene. Ruka had woken up and was staring at Misturi.

“Hello, Baby Ruka! I’m your Auntie Misturi! Guess what? I already love you! I love you so much!”

Y/N sat down next to Mistrui. She was tired, but she could feel her energy returning. She had been in the Butterfly Mansion for days and could now be around her friends again. She loved her husband, and Shinobu had been great, but she had been dying to show the baby to everyone. Misturi had been waiting for days to see Ruka; Rengoku said he felt terrible that she couldn’t be in the room for the birth. You felt bad, too but Shinobu had insisted it be only her and your husband.

Misturi didn’t seem to hold a grudge. She was cooing at Ruka, already in love. A string of white slithered over to the two of you. Kaburamaru, Obanai’s snake, went up Misturi’s arm and placed himself on Ruka’s stomach. Obanai ran over his face red.

“Come back here,” He said to the snake.

The snake shook its head. You didn’t even know snakes could do that. The snake was looking at Ruka, who was staring at him. You swore the snake smiled.

“Kaburamaru, come here,” Obanai demanded.

“Oh, even Kaburamaru loves the baby!” Misturi cooed.

“I’m sorry,” Obanai said. “Kaburamaru, come here right now!”

“Hang on,” Y/N said. “Obanai, sit down.”

Obanai looked at Misturi, his face turning red. He obeyed, though.

“Misturi, let Obanai hold Ruka.”

“Wait, I---”

Misturi handed the baby over, and Obanai froze. He was staring at her with confusion and fear. He held her away from him, fear in his eyes. Was this his first time holding a baby?

“What--what do I do?” He asked.

“Here, hold her like this,” Misturi said.

She moved his arm, so Ruka’s head was in the crook of his arm. Obanai’s face was redder than a cherry. Once Ruka was in his arms, Obanai looked at her. His face returned to normal as he stared at her.

“Okay, I’ll admit it. She’s pretty cute,” Obanai said. “You can’t stay with her, though, Kaburamaru.”

Rengoku was watching from afar. He wore the biggest smile on his face. His love for Y/N continued to grow; watching her as a mother was inspiring. Already, she was filled with so much love for their baby. He was happy to see that Ruka was calm as she was given to others. He knew Mistrui would have died had she not gotten to hold Ruka first. He felt honored that his friends already loved his daughter.

“I thought the baby was in Y/N’s stomach,”

Rengoku was used to Muichiro popping up randomly. Rengoku laughed at his comment.

“Not anymore! She’s here, fully realized!”

“Why is the baby so small?”

“They’re little humans; they’re supposed to be small,” Rengoku said. “But she’ll grow! Grow into a wonderful human being.”

“Ah, there is the man of the hour!”

Tengen patted Rengoku on the back and brought him in for a hug.

“Congratulations are in order!” He said. “You’re officially a father now.”

“I, too, would like to offer my congratulations,” Gyoemi said. “Having a baby is no small feat. I cannot think of two finer people for parents.”

Rengoku felt his heart swell. Marrying Y/N hadn’t been scary but starting a family was terrifying. It wasn’t that he didn’t have faith in Y/N being a mother; he didn’t have faith in himself. Would he mess up? Babies were so small and fragile. Rengoku had numerous nightmares where he dropped his poor baby. What would happen if he dropped her? The scarier thought was, what if he ended up like his father? As much as he loved the former Flame Hashira, Rengoku didn’t want to turn into him.

“Hey, what’s with that look?” Tengen nudged Rengoku. “No sour faces here. That’s unflashy.”

“Sorry, just distracted I guess,” Rengoku admitted. “I was thinking---”

“Unflashy thoughts,” Tengen poked his friend’s sides. “I don’t want any negativity tonight. Let me guess; you’re scared you won’t be a good father?”

“Preposterous! Rengoku, you are by far one of the best men I have ever met,” Gyoemi said. “Your fathering skills will be unparalleled.”

“You were nervous when you got married, too,” Tengen said. “You came to me one night, asking if there was a book on how to be a good husband.”

“Oh, I had forgotten about that,” Rengoku chuckled.

“You worry too much,” Tengen said. “You’ve got this.”

“There you are Kyo,” Y/N said, Ruka in her arms. “I’ve been looking for you. Oh, Tengen, this is perfect! Kyo, we can finally ask him.”

“Ask me what?” Tengen said.

“Well,” Rengoku took Ruka from Y/N. “Tengen, you’re my closet friend. You’ve been there for me and continue to do so. So I was hoping that you’d do the honors of being my daughter’s godfather.”

“And your wives,” Y/N said. “We want them to be her godmothers.”

Tengen was quiet as he looked between the couple and then down at Ruka. He took her Ruka and held her up, laughing loudly.

“Of course, I’ll be her godfather! No one is flashier than me; I’m perfect for the job!” Tengen said. “Girls, girls, we’re going to be godparents!”

Rengoku chuckled and put his arm around his wife. His fears had vanished; he had nothing to worry about. He watched as Tengen’s wives crowded around him, giving Ruka more than enough attention.

“I told you they’d all love her,” Y/N said. “You were worried about nothing.”

“I guess I was,” Rengoku wrapped an arm around his wife. “My fears were misplaced.”

“They always are,” Y/N said, leaning against her husband. “Sweetie, you’re a wonderful husband and will be a great father. I just know it.”

“Thank you, my love,” Rengoku kissed her cheek.

“So, where do babies come from?” Muichiro asked suddenly.

“Oh, Muichiro!” Y/N hadn’t realized the young boy was still standing by her husband.

“I think I hear the Master calling us; we must go!” Rengoku said, grabbing Y/N’s hand and walking off.
