CELEBS:

Justin Bieber is super nice, he seemed genuinely honored and happy to be there. Him and Mitch Marner are sooo cute, Justin was so supportive of him all the time and cheered backstage so much. He's also cool with Crosby apparently, saw them talking a lot. Met Hailey briefly and not surprised, just classic model behavior, glasses on inside, didn't say hi to anybody just a slight smile. It's fine I guess but compared to Justin who was a ray of sunshine seemed kinda odd. Michael Bublé did not 'accidentally' take a huge dose of weed, he was joking about how high he was and laughing about smoking more afterwards. Will Arnett is like a drunk uncle but not drunk. Both nice. Tate McCrae is soo sweet! I felt her because we were only like 5/6 women backstage and she was the only female captain, also with an ex who is an NHL player so already has that "puck bunny" reputation, so her being there was cool to see. Her BF was also backstage, but I don't think the players knew it was her BF haha, a colleague and I noticed at least 15 of the guys walking up to her and chatting it up. Ones I remember that looked flirty are Sway, the Hughes (they talked throughout the whole weekend and they're all around the same age so may have been friendly but you know how men are), Elias Lindholm, Elias Petterson, & Mat Barzal. She obviously talked to a lot of people but these I remember looking more like them trying to get somewhere with her. Her and her BF are so cute though! He was very touchy with her. Saw her talking to Boone Jenner for a while, but he seemed just friendly. He is also her ex's teammate so wonder what that's about.

PLAYERS:

Auston Matthews is actually really charismatic. At one point the whole dressing room went quiet and we heard him singing "Baby" by Justin Bieber. We all cracked up haha. The Hughes brothers had a fight the first day, don't really know about what but Jack walked in upset and Quinn wouldn't even look at him. Both with their frowning RBF. McDavid had the same attitude as Hailey Bieber LOL. He softened up a bit when talking to other players but otherwise he is super cold always. Pasta and Travis Konecny also seemed to lowkey hate each other. Colleague told me Travis doesn't like Pasta at all but can't 100% confirm that as I didn't hear it directly, just an interesting rivalry. The Canucks players were like a group of mean girls, they literally stuck together the entire weekend, even if they were drafted to separate teams. Vincent Trocheck flirted his ASS off with several women, myself included. Found out later he was married. Swayman is truly a nice person, I think he and Boone Jenner were the only ones who said hi to the whole crew and also goodbye. Also saw him and Georgiev have a bro-hug after they lost the game and he said something to him that made him really laugh, it was very cute. The Hughes also seem to not like Suzuki, avoided him all weekend. Cale Makar is like a doll haha he is so awkward all the time and everytime he speaks his face looks like he immediately regrets it.

You had always been a Leafs fan. Born and raised, right down to the bedsheets you slept on as a kid - but that had all changed in the summer of 2015 when the team had drafted your then boyfriend: Mitch Marner. The two of you had lasted until the following September, the breakup quick, and if you didn’t count your broken heart far from messy. 

He quickly became a Canadian hockey icon married to the game and his mistress the publicity that came with it - and that left no time for you as you planned the next phase in your life. A phase that he would have no part of, because you didn’t want him in it. 

You had buried your old Leafs jersey’s deep in the storage of your parents home, leaving it all behind as you went off to school - hell, you had become a Habs fine just to spite him, as if he would ever know. 

Throughout college, you managed to avoid every invitation to watch a Leafs game at Scotiabank Arena - it was easy to make up an excuse when you always seemed to have papers to write or exams to study for - but when you graduated and found yourself working a standard nine-to-five, there was no stopping the antics of your wealthy college friends that did not know any better as you never had told them you had dated Mitch all throughout high school, hell, they would have never believed you even if you had. 

It was the very reason you couldn’t tell them why you had gone sheet white when your taxi pulled up outside the arena on a busy Friday game night - and why you one the verge of throwing up as you were guided through the gates. You forced a smile at their excitement: I can’t believe you haven’t gone to a Leafs game since high school. You’re going to have so much fun!

Dread was heavy in your stomach as you followed them to your seats. Each step deeper into the lower bowl bringing a threat of tears to your eyes - and only did your friends stop when they reached the row directly in front of the glass. 

“Oh no,” you shook your head, “I can’t-” 

Your throat was weak, your eyes trying to avoid the ice as the Leafs came out onto the ice for their pre-game warm up. Each smack of the puck against the glass in front of you left you jumping - you refused to look up at the ice, so the smack surprised you every time. 

It was only when you started getting an odd look from your friends that you straightened up in your seat. If you could just make it through the night pretending like nothing was bothering you, then maybe you would never have to go to a game ever again - but to do that, you would need wine. 

“I’m just going to go get a drink,” you assured them gently, pushing up from your seat. 

You stood up in a sea of blue wearing the bright red Habs jersey you had put on when you were convinced you were just going to the bar to watch the game. If felt like every eyes was on you - especially when your friends were wearing blue themselves - but the weight of it all nearly crushed you when you heard a tap on the glass behind you. It wasn’t the strike of a puck. No, this was someone’s first. You turned slowly, your heart skipping in your seat when your eyes fell on Mitch. 

He had not changed, not one bit - hell, maybe you hadn’t either - since the four years since you had last seen him. And it had you wishing that he did change, because it would have been so much easier to face if he had. But he still had those sweet, soft blue eyes, and boyish grin that you had fallen in love with when you were sixteen. Your stomach knotted and your lips falling into a forced smile as you gave him a shaky wave. A part of you still loved him, and would always love him, and there was a glimmer in his eyes that told you that he still loved you too.

Sometimes I sit around and I think… I think too much.. it’s a problem. But today I thought too much and I decided to cast these losers as Big Time Rush. I completely forgot those guys were hockey players until a friend brought it up.

Kendall is Jack. He has the main character energy. All that sass. He’s lovey, and Quinn says he gets the Ladies. Connected to this, I think Luke is the male version of Katie.

Then we got James. Trevor is James. A little stupid, a lotta hot, a good voice. In my mind we’re comparing voices to hockey skills. James always riffed and showed off. Had a good voice but a lot of ego with it.

Logan, arguably the best. I had to think a little hard on this one before deciding on Marner. Some of Logan’s most iconic faces would be given justice with Mitchy. I also think the smart chaos is pretty on brand for him. He’s the one they all end up going to when the homework isn’t done, and Mitch would love to see them get theirs, but he helps anyway.

Carlos is Cole. Idk I’ve seen some videos of him recently and I just think he’s the most likely to run headfirst into shit with his helmet on. Like he’s a cutie, but the things that must go on in his head…and he’s the shortest… a lot of his own talent, but overshadowed by the others, same as Mitch.

And of course we can’t have the dogs without their producer.

It’s Biz. The ultra cool, dog whisperer, Gustavo Rock.. is Biz. And you know he’s gotta have the Whit-dog with him too as Kelly. I just don’t see a BTR idea with these guys, without Biz in the cool track suits losing his shit bc one of them did something stupid. While Whitney’s in the sound room bewildered at a new level of rage these children have managed to pull from Biz-Nasty.

Anyway, this was a thought. I had to share it. It’s niche.. but if I didn’t get it down on paper, I didn’t know what I’d do with it. Thank you for attending my TED-talk

Happy National Boyfriend Day to all of my current favorite hockey boys🎉💜. Every year, I highlight my favorite band members (I used to post about this on insta but I stopped and ya girl has never had a boyfriend) on this day and since I’m a full time hockey clown, I’m going to highlight hockey players. (I know my chances of actually dating a hockey boy is extremely unlikely but it’s fun to talk about them).
