Premise: Akaashi Keiji falls in love with a single mother and realizes she's all he wants for his life.
Word Count: 2848
Chapter 6: Good ending
Summer break is fast approaching, and you are considering places to go with the kids, even Akaashi will be taking a week off work to go somewhere nice, so you are currently browsing for ideas hoping to find inspirations for your family get away.  Akaashi suggested going to someplace far enough that requires a plane ride, but not enough to leave the country. Seiji has been growing an obsession with planes and he wants to spoil his newly acquired son, so Hokkaido seemed like a safe bet, the weather is cooler up there and there’s lots of fun places to take the kids to.
Your relationship has advanced quite a bit, you now sleep in Akaashi’s room as he insisted Seiji needed his own room, even when he was the one that wanted him with Kimi to make use of the space, he was the one who ‘convinced’ you that boys need their space, he will be a teenager one day and would not like to share room with his little sister. You wanted to object and tease him because he totally just wanted you in his bed, but your heart was so full hearing him think of a future so far ahead that you were at a loss for words.
You two have been getting his room ready, Akaashi getting him a big boy’s bed for his birthday. He got him a loft bed with a desk underneath, so he had space of his own for his homework and side projects, but also space for his toys and books. Seiji was over the moon, his very own room, never would have guessed that would happen, he’s been sharing bed with you since he was born. His collection of toys also grew substantially now that his father gets him new stuff basically every week, you don’t like that he is somehow trying to buy his son’s affection, but he did miss a lot of birthdays and Christmas days, so you are allowing it for the time being, don’t want him to become spoiled due to it. Akaashi spent a good couple of hours every day after work painting the walls of his new room into a soft mint color that you chose for him and is now complete, his own big boy room.

You were preparing dinner while talking on the phone with Atsumu, tomorrow is his day of the week to be with his son and he wanted to discuss with you something that has been in his mind for a while now.
“So, I got these papers I need you to sign. Is it ok for me to see you tomorrow for a bit when I take Seiji home?” he doesn’t sound as confident as usual and is starting to throw you off a bit. “What do you mean papers? What kind of papers??” you stopped stirring up the curry you were preparing for tonight giving him your full attention. “Well, I want him to be my son in paper too. You know I have two apartments and well lots of things, I want them to go to him when I die.” you rolled your eyes at his choice of words, but you agree with this, you’ve had similar thoughts on your near-death experience and wanted to make sure he would go to his dad if something bad were to happen to you since Akaashi and you aren’t a couple legally, he wouldn’t be deemed responsible for your son. You also know you probably won’t get married even if the relationship pointed in that direction, for what you’ve heard he is very comfortable with how things are right now and thinks very little of marriage stating is just a social title, nothing more.
“Ok, ok, I’ll sign them. But first you gotta answer something for me or I ain't signing anything.” you’ve been dying to ask this, and you rarely have something to bargain with, so you take this chance, “Anything for you, my love.”, his 'fake sweetness' making you want to gag, but you hang on tight, this is too important and if you upset him this is the end, “Ok so, when you disappeared on me, I went to look for Samu and he had just disappeared from the surface of the earth just like you, even his phone number wasn’t working. What happened to him?” you’re absentmindedly biting your thumb, the curry pot now doing its thing. “Tsk.” is all you hear from the other side of the line, and you are quickly losing faith, he’s always been defensive when you mention him. “Took you long enough to ask, I thought that would be the first thing you’d ask me, you always liked him more than you ever liked me.” he wasn’t entirely wrong, but you would never say that to him, specially not now. You quietly wait for him to continue, “When I left you that night, I didn’t know what to do with my life. I knew I couldn’t tell Samu the truth. At first, I thought it was because I was embarrassed that you’d cheat on me the same week I bought our engagement ring. But in reality, I was kinda scared. I knew the moment I’d fuck up he would go for you and steal you away. He would always tell me that the only reason you were with me was because he was a coward and took too long, he constantly reminded me of that and I just couldn’t allow that to happen. So, when I got to his place that night I didn’t say anything, he was going on about how a very famous onigiri person from Okinawa had offer him a year-long internship at his shop, he wasn’t sure about being away for so long but I took it as a chance and I got him to accept it. I told him we had a fight and wanted some time alone to clear my head, so we both went together to Okinawa and did some touristy stuff while he got settled. We were on a dolphin exploration boat when I saw your name on his screen, he was busy taking pictures with his camera, so he didn’t notice. I took his phone and mine and threw them into open ocean.” you gasped loudly, almost leaving him deaf, not believing someone could stoop so low due to jealousy. “I got us new phones the same day, I just didn’t want him to talk to you, I knew he would fly straight to your arms on the same day if he would have known what happened, and probably ruin his future.” You don’t say anything to this, you know it’s true, that’s why you went looking for him, he’d always been your support, even before you got with Atsumu. “He had to stay for a year there, but he kept trying to find you, since I kept ignoring his questions he even sent Suna to our old place to look for you, but you were gone by then. And that’s all I know. When he found out I lied to him to keep him away from you we had a huge fight, he broke my nose with one of his punches and well, he didn’t talk to me for a couple of years after that until ‘Ma saw him throwing a bread stick to my face during a family holiday and forced him to forgive me.”
The line went completely silent, “You selfish bastard.” is all you say to him before ending the call, you were sobbing on the curry when Akaashi found you in the kitchen. He didn’t know what happened, but he heard you were talking with Atsumu in the phone. He wrapped both of his arms around your waist, hugging you from behind and leaving soft tickly kisses on the back of your neck, using the only tactic that he knows calm you down. “You know, those tiny shorts you’re wearing today are killing me. Hope you weren’t thinking of sleeping much tonight.” he whispers playfully biting your ear shell. You laugh in between sobs, shaking your head and removing the pot from the stove. “All yours, all night.” It’s all you say softly, pawing at your tears and trying to forget about all you heard just now.
───  ⋅ ∙ ∘ ☽ ༓ ☾ ∘ ⋅ ⋅  ───
School has been going great and you are positive you will be able to finally graduate in a couple of semesters, life really is so much better these days.
Akaashi is currently taking a shower and you are just waiting for Seiji to come home; you still need to sign those papers and weren’t really looking forward to see Atsumu today. Summer was very extreme this year and you thought of sneaking for a few scoops of ice cream, happily dancing almost inside of the fridge, truthfully enjoying both the refreshing breeze coming from it and the delicious treat in your mouth, when you hear Seiji coming inside the house, running excitedly with a slightly large bag in his hand. “Mama look, you have to try this, is the best thing I’ve ever eaten in my whole life!! My uncle made these specially for you!!” the child rambles while pulling some rice balls out of a container, “Your what-?“ the spoon in your mouth falls to the ground clattering loudly, “(Y/N)?” you see a head poking behind the wall separating the entrance from the kitchen and you forgot what manners were all together. You just ran over to Osamu, more like jumped on him, wrapping your arms around his neck and both legs around his waist. “Samu, oh my god. Is this really happening? Please tell me I didn’t pass out from the heat and I’m having the loveliest of dreams.” you mumble, kissing both of his cheeks. “Ya’ll isn’t this too much? Like why are you acting so differently from when you met me? You see? This is why I wanted you as far away from him as possible. It's all your fault.” grumbles Atsumu with an annoyed expression all over his face, “SHUT UP” you both yell at him in unison.
“I-I looked for you all over, (Y/N). I swear. I just couldn’t find you anywhere. You closed all your accounts, I didn't know what to do. I even contacted the Karasuno captain to see if he could help me, he is a cop now. But not even him could do much. I really tried all I could.” Osamu’s eyes are glossy with unshed tears, and you rest your forehead on his, “I know you did. I know.” Is all you can say, knowing you should get off of him, probably about now. The bathroom door opens to a shirtless and very wet Akaashi fully in display for everyone to see. “Oh, Osamu is here. Hey man! Haven’t seen you in a while.” Akaashi greets him while towel drying his hair.
Atsumu sulks walking over to plop himself on the sofa like it was his own house, annoyed at the fact that even Akaashi is treating him better. He stacks the papers on the coffee table, trying to get your attention. “(Y/N), so I brought you your beloved Samu, can you now sign my papers please? I kindda gotta go soon.” you just sat beside him, grabbing the papers and whispering a soft “Thank you” while squeezing his knee. Of course, this is what makes you happy. He should have known so.
You read over the papers and sign them without a hassle, your son now straddling his dad’s lap trying to get him to stop sulking. “Mama, daddy said he has a house in Osaka and that’s where USJ (Universal Studios Japan) is. Do you think I can go with him? I really want to see the Mario land.” he looks at you with puppy eyes, laying his head on Atsumu’s chest.
“I actually gotta go there in a couple of weeks, got a big game. I bet he would like to see his daddy win a game!” he puffs his chest out, making Seiji giggle and how can you honestly say no to him. “Alright, he should be out of school by then. But only for a few days and you gotta promise someone will look after him while you play.” you give him a serious look, knowing he would completely forget about it and just leave him alone on the bleachers. “How about you come with us, darlin’? I got more than enough room for the three of us.” he never learns.
“I, ehm. No, thanks.” you feel the other side of the sofa dent, Osamu sitting on your other side, his chin now on your shoulder giving a good look at the papers you just signed. He doesn’t trust his brother. “(Y/N), can I take Seiji to the aquarium? I was thinking maybe we can have a picnic after school, then go see some fishies.” He smirks over at Seiji who is now bouncing with joy begging you to please say yes. “Hmmmm….only if you let me join the fun~” you turn around to give him the prettiest pleading look he's ever seen, poking his belly.
Atsumu scoffs loudly, setting his son down and getting up and ready to leave. “Can you like not flirt with each other for once in this life? Akaashi is here! Not like you ever cared when you were with me but, can you not?”, Akaashi looked at you and just shook his head, “She isn’t flirting, dude. You should see her when she is.” this makes you chuckle, not even Akaashi is on his side today. “Besides, I know I would lose if Osamu was to make a move. I heard you had to kidnap him and throw his phone into the ocean to keep them apart. So, I would rather not upset my girl, that should do it.” You feel Osamu tense next to you, and its then he knows he’s too late once again, always late. If only…
Osamu gets on his feet, looking down at you. “I’ll text you later then. Already stole your number from my dumb brother’s phone.” he winks at you, but you are quick to see his sad smile. Deciding not to say anything you might regret later, you hand the signed papers to Atsumu and walk them out to his car.
What a day.
Akaashi, who’s too confident on what you two have right now, doesn’t even sweat at the longing look in Osamu’s eyes, just waving them off and heading back inside, pulling you with him by your hand. The night goes on like if nothing happened, tonight, diner would be a feast of different rice balls of all possible flavors. Or so they think, but you noticed, all of them had your favorite toppings. Your heart sank a bit, but you are just as comfortable with your current life as Akaashi is and dreaded complications. You will have to once again distance a bit from Osamu, even if that pains you to no avail.
───  ⋅ ∙ ∘ ☽ ༓ ☾ ∘ ⋅ ⋅  ───
That summer was a summer you would never forget. After Seiji’s first time to Osaka with his dad, you all boarded a plane and headed to Hokkaido. You visited some flower farms; fed Alpacas; even went to a bear only safari. Not only did you have tons of fun with your kids, but your bond as a family grew deeper roots.
The four of you slept on the same futon for the entire week, Akaashi renting a villa in the countryside for all of you to enjoy but wanting to keep you all to himself as usual.
You woke up to birds singing every day, no work, no school, just you and your family going on between fun activities and home life. You had bbq outside a couple of times during that week, Akaashi cooking the meat for all of you while the kids ran around playing tag and chasing butterflies.
You even wore this sun dress Akaashi had bought for you as a surprise to wear during this trip, saying something along the lines of him wanting to show off.
Life was certainly different from a year before.
───  ⋅ ∙ ∘ ☽ ༓ ☾ ∘ ⋅ ⋅  ───
-Time skip-
Watering the plants on the front yard you think about how five years ago this yard was empty, the house had nothing but gray walls, and plants were not welcomed in any way. Now it’s nothing like that, is even difficult to imagine it once was anything like it. You planted roses on both sides and some berry bushes at the front, a welcome mat now decorates the entrance along with a flower wreath.
The house inside had also change quite a bit, gray was replaced by white; family pictures, and trinkets now hanging from the walls, toys scattered every here and there. Just by looking inside from a window you could see how lived it was. Both of your children are no longer little, now both attending elementary school but just as lovely as they ever were.
You live happily, talking daily with your best friend and trying not to decapitate Atsumu. Your son loves them both and so do you, regardless of everything that’s happened.
Your family was big now and those days of loneliness are long forgotten in your hectic routine. You got a job at the same company as Akaashi, though you work in the publishing side very far away from him in a separate building, everything’s been going just great there too, a promotion coming its way to you in the coming months.
Akaashi yells from the kitchen, seemingly needing your help with the oven. You chuckle to yourself at your favorite clutz antics. “Coming!” you go back inside to save the day from the evil oven eating the chicken away. Once dinner has been saved you wrap yourself around him, kissing his lips softly and whispering sweet ‘I love yous’ while he holds you close against the kitchen counter.
You really couldn’t think of a better life and neither did Akaashi.

Previous Chapter Bonus Chapter
Notes: So, this is the final chapter of the Akaashi version of this story. Like I mentioned on the first chapter, this series is set out to be like an otome game, since I loathe the bad endings in the games, I’m not having one in my story, instead I’m having a good ending, a happy ending and the true ending, this one being the good ending version. Thank you to everyone who read this, you are the loveliest humans alive and Santa will give you an extra present from me this year. Hope you stick around for the other two! -Love, Nina.

“When didja know you were gay?”
SFW || Miya Twin Bonding ft. some SakuAtsu || Coming out. Demiromantic Miya Atsumu.
Original Tweet
-x-
“Hey, ‘Samu?”
“Yes, ‘Tsumu?”
“When didja know you were gay?”
A hefty pause. “Oh FINALLY.”
It was a visit to Onigiri Miya that started off normal. Atsumu had come alone, just wanting to spend a minuscule amount of time with his brother. It was moments like these that continued to mean the world to Atsumu.  He just wished his teammates respected that and stopped texting.
Funny enough, it was one teammate in particular that was blowing up his phone. One Atsumu never expected to do so. But there were memes to be sent and T*kT*ks to be shared.   A teammate that’s been plaguing Atsumu’s every thought, waking or otherwise.
A teammate with curly black hair that framed his face in just that perfect way. Two moles that sat above a mysterious onyx eye. A rare laugh that could capture the world’s attention. An objectively attractive man.  One issue? Atsumu had always assumed he was straight.
It was rare for Atsumu to have a crush on anything that wasn’t volleyball. But when he did—it was usually on women. And usually after they finally managed to snag enough of his attention to get to know him.  Rare, but it happened.
But lately Atsumu has been getting those romantic twinges he used to get. Something he hasn’t experienced in so long. This time? They were for a MAN. And not just any man—his TEAMMATE and BEST FRIEND, Sakusa Kiyoomi.  It’s been troubling Atsumu for over a month now.
Which is why he needed his brother’s help. Which is why he was a little confused about his brother’s response.
“Whatcha mean ‘Samu? FINALLY WHAT?” Atsumu asked, mouthful of onigiri.
Osamu quirked a brow at him, smirking.   “I’ve been waitin’ for this talk for years,” Osamu said.
“How? What? Ya don’t even know what I want! Answer the damn question!” huffed a red faced Atsumu. Osamu chuckled lowly, tossing the rag he was wiping the counter with over his shoulder.
“Honest answer, ‘Tsumu? My first time seein’ Suna Rin shirtless.”
Atsumu faked a gag.
“Ya asked. Look, I ALWAYS knew I wasn’t attracted to women. Never held anythin’ I wanted. And there was always somethin’ funny between Rin and I. Just didn’t realize it was gay feelin’s until I saw him shirtless in the club room,” Osamu explained.
“He was the first boy I noticed, but not the only one. I mean, shit, we didn’t get together ‘til after I graduated college. After him, I noticed boys a LOT more. Pretty t’look at and made my heart race. Ya ever feel that with someone?” Osamu hummed, a smile on his face.
Atsumu paused to think. There was Aiko his third year. Soft, small, hands. Kind heart. She liked to laugh. Atsumu remembered how her presence always made him smile, but his heart never raced with her.  Or Sunni his first year with the Jackals. Fierce. She could kick his ass. She was great in bed too. But that was the only time his heart raced with her.
Girls… were pretty. Atsumu knew he was at least physically attracted to women. He had been in some relationships with them. Loved them even. Sunni really was specially.   But then there was Omi.
Every brush of touch sent electric shocks throughout his body. Every bitter remark that blossomed a smile. Every eye roll with a smirk. The way Kiyoomi would walk home with him, share an umbrella. His laugh.  Those made his heart beat faster than a five set game ever could.
Atsumu was blushing when he turned back to face his grinning brother.
“I like girls. I know I do. It’s… hard. I don’t really LOVE ‘em. I don’t really get that heart racin’ feelin’ at first glance,” sighed Atsumu, resting his cheek on a fist. Osamu paused to hum lowly.
“‘Tsumu, have you EVER had, like, real romantic feelin’s for girls before?” Osamu asked, very serious. Atsumu paused to think about this question. Truthfully? No, not really. Sunni and Aiko were… special. They got him in ways others didn’t understand. He loved them, he did. But what about any of his other supposed crushes?
“Can’t… can’t say I have,” said Atsumu with a little ‘huh’ at the end. Osamu nodded, arms crossed his chest.
“So, ya like guys?” Osamu offered. Atsumu shook his head, sighing. That wasn’t it either. Sure, he might like ONE guy.
“No, I never had a crush on a guy before,” Atsumu started, blushing when he realized how untrue that was now. “Except for… now.”
“So yer gay?”
“No! No, I’m… somethin’ else I think. Somethin’ different. I don’t have a name for it,” shouted Atsumu with another sigh.
“But I think I like—SOMEONE. A guy this time. And that’s never happened t’me before. But I’m gettin’ real crazy about him. It’s… scary,” Atsumu said, placing his cheek on the counter now.
“Is it Sakusa?”
Atsumu groaned, hiding his face. Was it that obvious?
“Makes sense. Ya spent the last year gettin’ him to warm up t’ya. Ya became BESTIES or whatever. Yer real close with him now,” Osamu shrugged. Atsumu sat upright and replied,
“Yeah, guess Yer right. I’m just… I’m worried I’m in too deep. I’ve never been with a man before.”
“It’s REAL nice, lemme tell ya.”
“Keep yer sex life to yerself!”
Atsumu covered his ears like a child, causing Osamu to laugh.
“Maybe yer… Sakusa-sexual. Attracted to him and him only,” Osamu offered. That… felt a little more right. Atsumu shrugged, but smiled.
“Maybe I am. Man, ‘Samu, I REALLY like the guy. And he does things that make me wonder if he feels the same.”
“Tell him.”
“WHAT?!”
“Don’t wait years like me ‘n Rin. Tell him how ya feel. Yer a Miya. Yer strong. So if he rejects ya, yer gonna bounce right back,” Osamu smiled.
“Ya think so?”
“I know so.”
Atsumu jumped to his feet, grinning. He thanked his brother for the food and started for the door.
“I gotta tell him now! Thanks Samu! Yer a big help!”
And he was gone. Just as Osamu called out, “Pay yer tab scrub!” But he kept smiling. His brother was figuring himself out after 24 years and he couldn’t be happier. He remembered how amazing he felt when he realized he was gay.
Self discovery was a wonderful thing and he just wanted his brother’s happiness. THAT’S what mattered most. He couldn’t wait for the call that night, telling him that he and Sakusa finally got together. He had been watching them develop over the year. Saw Atsumu change.
“Fuckin’ FINALLY,” sighed Osamu happily. Well, he wasn’t quite expecting his brother to come out to him that night. But Osamu was so freaking glad he did. He felt even closer to his twin now. That would never change.

cw: mention of blood
There's that time when Atsumu and Osamu are wrestling over the bottom bunk for the night—Which their parents usually let them settle over something less violent, like a videogame or who scores higher on X assignment or whatever.
But tonight there's nothing for them to willingly give up the bed for other than a good old fistfight and wrestling match.
Only it lasts less than one minute because Atsumu fucking goes in to shove Osamu. Osamu pedals backwards, stabilizes, and then shoots forward, picking up momentum and shoving Atsumu back ten times harder. Atsumu goes pinwheeling into the side of the bunk bed's post, hitting his skull against one of its supports.
He slumps to the ground and starts sobbing.
Osamu pauses and he's like. "Crap, are ya okay? Crap. Shit."
And Atsumu is wailing and wailing and Osamu stumbles over and is trying to search him over, but Atsumu stops and starts laughing and is like: "Gotchya! Ya dummy, you're so gullible. Idiot 'Samu! Slow 'Samu!"
Osamu's too relieved to feel that pissed off, so he's like. OK. Smiles a little that at least Atsumu's okay enough to be cracking his stupid, childish insults again.
Then Atsumu starts to stand up, rubbing the back of his head because yeah it does ache a little. When he pulls his hand away there's like. Blood. ALL over his palm. There's blood on the bedpost. There's blood just projectile squirting out of his noggin onto the floor. Osamu and Atsumu make eye contact and scream.
(After a trip to the hospital, where Atsumu gets patched up, and is confirmed to not be concussed, Osamu willingly lets him have the bunkbed for the next three nights. After that though, they're back to their regularly scheduled shenanigans.)

Halooo!!!
Can I have some headcanons on what's it like being the miya twin's little sister? Like how each act with their sis and all? (who also may or may not have a crush on sakusa hehe)
Hmmm! Okay! I’ll try this out! Been a while since I’ve even touched Haikyuu so let’s see if I remember the Miya Twins enough to write for them! Also… these pretty short tbh! Sorry! Hope, it’s okay!
Older Brothers! Osamu Miya and Atsumu Miya
Tumblr media
God. You think the Miya Twins being just with each other is bad enough? Nope. It’s even more chaotic when you throw their little sister into the bunch. It’s a big ball of mess and disaster
Osamu prefers you to be independent and teaches you to cook so you can care for yourself. Atsumu, on the other hand, wants you to always rely on him so he can take care of you
Hence why the twins bicker and fight over you. They have contrasting ways of treating you and it annoys both of them. Osamu is more responsible and level-headed whilst Atsumu is more wild and rambunctious. Osamu bonds with you over painting and café hangouts, Atsumu bonds with you over arcade visits and general mischief
Osamu wants his little sister to behave as a good, functional, well-mannered lady of society whilst Atsumu believes his twin is trying to control their sister and tries to encourage you to be whoever you want to be. Osamu doesn’t like his twin trying to support their sister being destructive
Like with the laidback and stern parent. You got the laidback older brother and the stern older brother. Atsumu treats you like a old friend and doesn’t mind being so open and casual like Osamu is more like a protective momma bear and wants you to never take influence from Atsumu
I swear. Osamu isn’t controlling, he just wants the best for you. He just can’t keep his twin from convincing you to go rob a store— go hold Aran at gunpoint— go have fun by pulling a prank on Sakusa
Speaking on Sakusa. Your brothers are not happy with your crush on Sakusa. You’re younger than him and he is so bland and lifeless. You deserve so much better and detaching you from this crush is one of the only times Osamu and Atsumu will willingly work together, instead of fighting over opposing views. They both agree you deserve better than their own teammate
Should Sakusa even just talk to you, Osamu and Atsumu are pouncing on him right away and trying to threaten his ass into avoiding you like the plague. It’s protective, loving intentions but wrongly executed big brother behaviour(whilst Atsumu has it worst, Osamu is as tame as possible). You wish they weren’t so protective over you…
Osamu prefers handholding where you have your own space, Atsumu loves holding by the shoulder so there is no personal space
Osamu is very proud but hides it under his mellow, strong character whilst Atsumu acts on his pride and brags. Anytime you win a reward, Osamu’s recording you getting the reward for both himself and his parents to admire whilst Atsumu is being your biggest cheerleader, loud and wildly calling out your praises
The Twins would prefer you do not watch their Volleyball match practice but do attend their official games. Having your approval and feeling your pride towards them helps make them feel unstoppable
Overall. These brothers have contrasting treatment of you but the things they share is that they love you so much, that they’ll support and adore you, that they’ll always protect you and that you’re better than everybody around you
It’s pretty cute how affectionate and lovey-dovey and cuddly these twins are to you. Atsumu will express his affections outloud and in public with no shame, Osamu prefers to do it in private, domestic locations since his self-awareness is too high and his protectiveness is as high

Chapter 1: Four Hearts
The Miya household has always been loud. Having two boys, twins at that, made things even more difficult for their mother.
They were constantly fighting over everything, who gets the most toys, who gets to pick the bread with more butter on top, who gets the extra piece of salmon left from dinner, who gets the comfier fluffy futon versus the old one, who gets the heavier load of work at their restaurant... Their discussions weren’t just constant, but heavy and physical too, leaving them bruised and full of scraps more often than not.
But this household has never been more chaotic than the moment you arrived to their village, and that’s a lot to say.
Atsumu was known to be spoiled, he always gets what he wants, no matter how many people he has to step on to get to his goals. He’s the most handsome, the most athletically recognized, the best out of the two according to some.
Yet Osamu, even if to the eyes of the common folk was the calm one of the pair, was no better than his brother.
He might be friendlier, quieter, easier to deal with, those are facts. But he was just as athletic, just as handsome, and just as stubborn as his counterpart, and he has never in his life wanted something more than to have you to himself.
This brought more than one discussion to the Miya clan, the entire village was on Osamu’s side, he was the one who found you, to take you to safety, there was a claim made, a bond created between the two of you and they respected that, to some extent.
But the Miya clan had other plans in mind.
Atsumu was older, he had the right to claim the first of their mating choices, that’s how the clan has always worked, traditions were important for such an important clan of age and not much can be done to override them. Meaning, his own family was turning his back on him.
Osamu is well known for quitting things when they get complicated or tiresome, when he has to put on so much work that he barely has time to eat or cook, there’s nothing he enjoys more than that, hence anything else isn’t worth it; but this time… this time was different. No matter how hard it was, he was going to keep his claim valid, he wouldn’t let any lingering pest to take you away from him.
Why? That much wasn’t clear to him just yet, but he had this infinite urges to claim you to himself, to be the owner of such a loving nurturing future, it was overwhelming at times and he could barely pull himself together.
His cooking skills were known even outside of the village, bringing foreign guests over who wished to indulge in his gourmet experience, it was common knowledge to the entire village that the restaurant would be his at some point, his future had been safe since his skills were presented to the town’s people. Yet his brother’s future was as uncertain as it could be, getting him a wife would for sure bring peace and balance to the clan and the village itself, it was the best choice, and they all agreed, keeping Atsumu in a tight leash, putting him to good use, those were priorities, Osamu had the restaurant, he would eventually find his own mate, that much was certain. He didn’t need you the way Atsumu did. Those were the words of the elders, and the sting kept hunting him daily.
He agreed with them though, keeping his brother entertained and away from troubles sounded like a very good idea, but he didn’t want this to be at the expenses of his own future.
He’d seen in your eyes something he’s never seen anywhere else. He felt warmth he never thought it existed. The way your tiny hands were clinging so tightly from his clothing, how you seemed to feel so safe when he was by your side, it sent his brain into overdrive. He never thought the feeling of being needed, wanted even, could be this addicting.
Your small smile and pretty sparkling eyes were all he could think about at night, and brought him to make a very crucial decision, he would not give up, not this time, nobody would step on him, not even his other half.

Having you stay at the Suna Inn wasn’t as bad as he thought it would. Originally, he wanted you all to himself, he wanted you to stay in his house, it was the most normal thing after all, since you were his, right? But having Atsumu as far from you as he could be was certainly giving the best outcome possible.
Suna Rintarou was his only close friend, and even if Rin had been developing strong feelings towards you that nobody could deny, his friend was so much more important to him than his own future, after all he’s never seen Osamu this way, and he wanted to protect said growing fire in his chest.
Atsumu would go look for you at the inn daily, demand to see you even, but thanks to Suna’s advances, he wasn’t able to see you more than a couple of times and even then, for no longer than a few minutes and never unsupervised, which made your relationship with the blond pretty much nonexistent.
On the contrary, Samu had his own visiting hours as Rin liked to call them.
He would visit you every day around 3PM, as soon as he was free from the lunch rush at his parents restaurant he would run towards the south part of town and would not leave your side until late at night. He sacrificed his night shift to be with you, something nobody was able to accomplish before, not even his parents when insisting he needed to rest some more. But the urge within him to be close to you was driving him insane and he wasn’t able to focus while cooking otherwise.
He would take you out for walks, show you his favorite trees to lay under, to soak in the harmony of nature while enjoying some of his delicious treats. He would even stay the night sometimes, unable to get his paws under control and wanting to feel nothing but your arms around his very much tired body.
You brought a sense of comfort he never experienced before, a sense of belonging, and he wanted more of this as days went by.
“(Y/N) do you…want to move in with me? I know the leader said you’re to stay here until the council decides what to do with you, but I…I want to wake up beside you every day…I can’t sleep now if I’m not in your arms..I get restless…” his tone of voice showed just how exhausted he really was, his eyes were swollen, red even, and you weren’t in any better shape. Having him all night pressed to your side once was enough to make you addicted to his presence, he made you feel so safe, so needed, not even your sickness would show up symptoms when he was around, which wasn’t just weird, but very promising as well.
“But Samu…I mean…I do, I want to be with you, I truly do. But wouldn’t that mean having to share a roof with your brother? I…I don’t think I want that..it would make things even more weird between you two...” the sigh of discomfort you let out at the thought of having to share housing with Atsumu brought a content smile to his face, you didn’t like the idea, and he didn’t just as much, but he couldn’t continue like this, he had to do something about it.
“How about we look for another place? I can talk to the leader, if you’re sure that’s what you want even after spending time with the four of us, that should be enough to sway the council to our side…they might even give us one of the new cottages by the hill…would you like that?” his forehead was pressed on yours, his eyes begging for your answer to be nothing more than what he wished to hear, his longing for you has become painful and all he wants is to have you all to himself.
“I…I would like that very much…” the soft smile on your face and the look of sheer adoration in your eyes was making the man go completely bonkers. His body kept reacting to every little thing you did and he didn’t know how to handle himself with all this madness, he wanted you in ways he’s never wanted anyone or anything, not just in a physical way but in a very deep emotional one, he wanted you to be his, he wanted to be engraved in your heart and be the only man in your eyes.
“(Y/N)…C-can I…kiss you…?” even if you’ve shared the same bed before, things were quite tame at all times, nothing more than soft warm cuddling under the comforts of a fluffy blanket, shared giggles, flirty comments, soft lingering touches, but that was all, and he was at a breaking point and needed to be reassured by your love.
You just nodded bashfully, pressing your soft plump lips to his own, it was a fleeting moment, a perfect one at that, one that would live on for the rest of both of your lives as a precious memory.
His breath became ragged and all he could see was your beautiful face oh so close to his own. His lips claimed yours once more, over and over again until the sun woke the entire village around you. Another sleepless night, yet not so tame any longer…
Love was a foreign concept to the Miya youngling, one he’s read about before but never experienced, one that was constantly mentioned in fiction books but never in ones of actual relevancy. A concept so abstract that he always thought of it as nothing more than a myth. But that myth had become very real to him in the past months, every day that goes by his heart hammers louder against his ribcage the moment he sees you, every day that goes by his mouth grows dryer as his body craves your warmth just for a little longer. Every day that goes by his thoughts are claimed by your smile and a loving future ahead and his resolve has never been this strong before.
He would have you all to himself, nothing would stop him this time.
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
The council was thrilled to know you’ve made your choice. Some strong opinions were said out loud, however, and those called for consideration.
Wouldn’t it be more useful to have you as a concubine for the leader? Lady Suna was still so young, she wouldn’t be able to bare pups any time soon, and breaking their engagement was not a matter to discuss, it would possibly bring war to the clans.
Your fertile body was nothing but a tool to the elders of the village, as sad as that may be.
Since the thought of the Kita clan regaining nothing but supremacy by bringing multiple pups to the clan was so alluring, the matter of your proper engagement to the Miya clan came to a halt, bringing Osamu to despair as he knew what they were capable of when they had something in mind.
“I won’t let them have you…I promise…” he cradled you to his chest, kissing the top of your head. The elders wanted you to move to the castle as soon as possible as they wanted to test your chemistry with their young leader, as to prove the rest that they were right, that the survival of the strongest clan was more important than young love.
“I don’t want to go, Samu…” your quiet sobs were piercing his heart, he knew Kita Shinsuke was a man of honor, he knew he wouldn’t dare to touch one of your hairs without your consent, that he wouldn’t let the elders get away with their useless poisonous advising, but having you in the castle meant he wouldn’t be able to spend as much time with you as he does now that you’re at his friend’s inn, and that was enough to shatter his overly in love heart to pieces.
“Everything will be fine, baby. We’ll get through them, they’ll have no choice but to let us be together, I’ll make sure of that.” after a very long hug and few tender kisses, he left you in the care of the Kita castle staff, new resolve shining on his face.
He would fix this, even if he had to beg for help.
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
Once the restaurant closed for the night, Samu called in his family to gather around one of the tables, he cleared his throat with a serious look in his face, one his parents had never seen before, at least not on this specific son of theirs.
“I need your help. Our clan is stronger than this, they aren’t respecting my claim and I am willing to fight for my mate. I won’t let them take her away from me.” Atsumu who was sitting quietly in a corner, sighed loudly at his brothers words, yes, he liked you, more than just a bit, but his brother clearly loved you, enough to suggest a war between clans, and even if he’s usually an asshole to his baby twin brother, he cracked his knuckles while getting up. “Who do I need to punch? Let’s go get her back ‘Samu…”
His brother’s support meant more than the world to him, in all honesty he still felt conflicted knowing his untamable brother had developed feelings for the same girl he wanted as his mate, he wanted his brother to find happiness too, but this wasn’t something he was wiling to share, your love was all he wanted and he would fight for it, with an army if needed.
His mother came around as well saying she would talk to the council and present their rightful claim, true to their village fashion, nothing was first come first served, there were statuses and protocol to follow, norms, orderly claims, nothing according to their laws would play in his favor now that the council wanted your as a royal womb, but she would support her son and protect his heart from further damaging.
To make things more aggravating, your condition worsened the moment you were held seemingly captive at the castle. You did have your own room, heavily decorated and comfortable, all the servants you could wish for, delicious food and entertainment galore, but you didn’t have what your body and soul craved most, and it started to show, quickly deteriorating your health to the point of having you bed bound in less than a week.
While Kita let Osamu in the castle with programmed short visits, it was just not enough, you were being watched by many all the time and weren’t even able to hold each other despite of the burning fever inside your chests.
Some called it a ruse.
They said you were acting this way as to reject the leader, to entice them to find someone else to bring his pups to the world, that you weren’t really sick and were just a spoiled brat.
But reality was very different and Kita knew this.
If the blessing didn’t come fast, you’d end up perishing in that bed, and he felt somewhat responsible for this as you were fine until you arrived at his castle.
“(Y/N)….I got you a potion…this should help with your coughing…is there anything I can do to make you feel better? Maybe more blankets? Anything special you would like to eat?” he was certainly a sweetheart and in a different situation you could have seen yourself sharing your life with this man, but your heart had been stolen to never return the moment you woke up in this village next to the quiet yet overly protective young fox that saved your life.
“Thank you, Kita-sama. I’ll be fine…I just wish…Samu was here…” your words were laced with so much sadness that it broke his heart to pieces, he would do all he could to make sure your health and happiness would return no mater what. His eyes were sad yet filled with love and unspoken feelings, just as Atsumu, and Rin, even if he had developed more than feelings towards you, your happiness was first and he would help the best he could to get that smile he loved so dearly to come back.
Four hearts full with conviction, full with love, full with understanding. They all agreed on their own accord to the very same thing, your wellbeing and happiness was more important than their own.
You were so loved.
And so, once Kita’s heart made its choice, the final piece of a very complex puzzle was now in place and your body began glowing, a golden ethereal light left your pores in revelation.
Four hearts united as one with one purpose in mind, your happiness.
True love, from four foxes not just one.

Osamu: That’s not anxiety!
