also it’s funny because the one thing i relate to with alec the most is exactly the whole “golden kid” thing, because like i said in the other ask, i was that kid, and i know exactly how hard being the golden kid fucks you up, how it takes away your sense of self and worth and places it on your parents’ expectations, how it makes you betray yourself and convince yourself that you believe in shit you don’t believe in, how hard it is to break out of that. to this day i can’t really go against my parents in anything and the way alec stood up against maryse is an inspiration to me. the fact that alec was the “golden kid” is exactly the part of his pain that i can relate to the most and understand best and one of the parts that actually make me like and be interested in his character, it’s why i stan the lightwood sibling’s relationship despite its problems (because me and my brother took years to become friends again, while izzy and alec never turned their backs to the other despite how hard the golden kid vs fuckup kid dynamic aims to sever those relationships), it’s like the main reason why i identify with alec

lêx I’m gonna be completely honest I’ve been doing the mental gymnastics to figure out what the fuck mizzygate anon is saying and I got nothing. I literally do not understand what they are saying it is not computing in my brain. Anyways it’s harder for alec to beat magnus in a fight because half the time his brain is just like “,,,,,,,p re ty,,,,,,” and so his braincell has to work overtime to get into the fighting zone (and can you blame him?????? if i had to fight magnus while he wore a tank top and those Arms and Shoulders were on display I would simply let him ruin me)

Yeah Maryse and Robert treat BOTH Alec and Izzy like crap. That's the point? No matter how differently they act both Alec and Izzy are treated badly. Izzy gets in trouble for rebelling, finding herself and forming her own opinions instead of doing what they want. Alec can only make his parents proud by giving up everything, doing what they say and even by taking physical pain without complaint. Of course the Lightwood parents are Jace stans tbh.
