“Mister Stark,” Peter said, seeing the limo of Avengers emptying with view of the Fantastic Four who wished to be here as well and were posing for pictures outside the building. Ned, MJ and Peter were smirked at by the team and Princes who came closer to greet the trio with hold of laminated family passes in hand.
“Peter, you brought friends? Do they let younger students attend?”
MJ answered for him excitedly, “Pluto invited us for her demonstration!”
Bruce asked, “There’s a demonstration for Valedictorian now?”
Peter chuckled and answered, “No, got distracted from the speech and worked on a project instead.”
Ned smiled blurting out, “It’s gonna be so awesome!”
Loki asked, “Demonstration, what sort of demonstration?”
MJ said, “If it’s anything like she said it’ll blow the Blackhowls out of the water!” Instantly causing Tony and Bruce’s brows to tick up in curiosity.
“Oh now I gotta see this,” Rhodey cut in making Bucky smirk.
Peter said, “Plus it’d be nice to be here for her in case the cheerleaders are planning anything.”
Nat said, “I didn’t think there were cheers done at the ceremony.”
“That would sound fun,” Yelena cut in.
Ned said, “More in case they want to pull a Carrie during Pluto’s time on stage.”
Steve asked, “Carrie, the movie with the girl humiliated at prom?”
Loki narrowed his eyes asking, “Who would dare to humiliate Shieldmaiden Pluto?”
“Well,” Peter said in a nervous purse of his lips at a loss for how to word this.
Tony asked, “Cheerleaders pick on Pluto?”
Thor scoffed, “The young maiden has a title, they would not dare scuff her honor.”
MJ answered, “The title actually didn’t help things. Her first year a girl named Beverly insulted her parents and Pluto found out her father and other male relatives had been raping children through their family company,” parting lips of the team, “They had a deal or something to not talk about their parents and Beverly broke that.”
Peter butt in, “No, my aunt was at the laundromat with Pluto and Eddie, before they were siblings or anyone knew he was a writer, and Beverly comes in screaming at Pluto about some social post of a recipe she sent to a friend and she brought up her family. My aunt said he didn’t die in an accident like his family said and Eddie followed up and put it in the papers and then Beverly’s family moved away. Her friends at school since then have just been giving Pluto hell.”
Melina asked, “How did the title not help?”
Ned said, “Well she was in a relationship and when she left to go to Sweden the first time Harry Osborn sort of stole away Pluto’s ex and the social pages blew up with Beverly’s friends who said her ex upgraded.”
MJ cut in, “There really wasn’t any way to mend that bridge with the airheads after they lit it on fire. I mean Pluto didn’t want to be their friend or approval to begin with, but every step she took there was noise, even where she stepped off the Color Guard so the team wouldn’t split in favor of her or the ex.”
Loki stated, “All the better this school will be far behind her in a few hours time.”
Tony bit back his comments on the bullying as the trio burst out in excited chatter to the sight of Eddie, who had a very noticeable figure at his side, the latter with a nicer suit and fingers fidgeting over the buttons he just secured.
“Mr Brock,” Ned said as Eddie recognized the trio they were seated with.
“Hey Ned, MJ, Peter,” Eddie named the trio and turned his head to Thor who took a step out from behind his brother for a clear view.
Peter blurted out in a touch of Thor’s arm, “You have to meet the Princes,” and looked to the curious Princes the teen named the duo for, “Eddie Brock and Earl Thengel Beornson, Pluto’s brother and grandfather, this is Prince Thor and Prince Loki.”
Heads were nodded on both parties, then a few moments later Loki in a sweep of his eyes over the crowd asked, “Miss Pluto is not with you?”
Eddie said, “She’s inside, Thengel came in a bit ago and needed a ride, sort of a surprise,” he said with a creeping grin. “Weren’t sure if he could swing by between meetings.”
Thengel asked the Princes, “Are you both still able to attend the unveiling?”
Thor answered proudly, “Not a skirmish in the world could hinder our presence to honor our uncle Vili.”
Thengel’s head turned with eyes fixed on Bucky who eased forward to offer a hand, the pair traded names and the former said, “Pluto has told me a great deal about you and your lessons. Regardless, I am pleased to have had such a teacher in my daughter’s stead.”
“Sorry I couldn’t get her to you sooner.” Bucky in a glance Eddie’s way noticed the old camera on a strap around his neck and he said, “Nice camera.”
“Pluto’s, usually uses it on our trips. Brought some spare rolls for the scrap book.” Reed recognizing the Earl came over to greet the duo to share in excitement of the ceremony ahead. A warning announcement did however halt the talks that confirmed a group dinner after Tony had planned and everyone turned to head inside.
 *.*.*
Dean Morita through the crowd came to speak to the top ten students of the class, sharing with each of you the steps of being named out of order to fill the first row to be named for the offered scholarships and honors while you and Cindy would be called up for speeches.
Underneath the crimson robe and silver sash you had settled on a black sleeveless blouse with a floppy ribbon bow in the front that bled to blush to match the dress slacks you had on that bled from black at the waist to blush on your hips and hung in circles around your nude colored wedges entirely. The cap you had on was fighting to pop off your curls, half pulled back in braids down the top of your head. The robe however bunched to the press of the small barrel you had pressed to your chest topped by the rings and a cow patterned mug you kept close to your face as you’d almost misplaced it three times already since you arrived.
Dean Morita smiled down at you when he had confirmed the final list of Cindy’s questions, with full view of your anxious self tapping fingertips on the barrel to keep from humming or vocalizing in another way. “Just take a breath Pluto, whatever you have planned will be fantastic.”
“I am breathing. The intro,” you said and he cut you off with a kind nod.
“Very humble, kept it to the bare minimum and we will leave the project to full attentions.”
“The board wasn’t mad at the scholarship issue?”
“No,” he said with a shake of his head, “Very admirable of the wish to grant it to another student as your means have improved.” After a moment he said, “And I know when you graduate, before, we would be proud to have you back for meetings and visits with our future students any time. I do not want you to feel like you can never come back or speak to us if you wish to have a sounding board or help with our experience in advanced studies or otherwise.”
“I wanted to thank you, for accepting me and helping with everything at Midtown and Columbia. Even our talks between classes, it really means so much to me you gave me a chance.”
Right on the cusp of tearing up to the sentiment in your tone he simply smiled a bit wider, “Hundred different times you could put me right back there and I’d always give you that chance. Because as a person, as a scientist, you have helped the world tenfold off the back of every person who was smart enough to enforce that chance to grow.”
.
Echoes of names following an opening speech of this year’s chosen alumni bled on and on, with ample eyes wandering to the small barrel seated beside the podium. The ten up front were given the longer time to name the scholarships and accolades. Including you and your continued studies at Columbia and name as Valedictorian that had some people in the crowds wondering to smirks at the students who didn’t like you in pleasure at lack of scholarship or anything for the top of the class. Flashes of cameras and videos from the crowd, your group especially, lit up your first time across the stage for handshakes and acceptance of the diploma.
Trying to not get distracted or pass out inside this coliseum shaped event center off to the side of the stage you stood listening to Cindy as she gave her just perfect speech as Salutatorian. You wanted your mask and with a glance at Eddie you couldn’t help but grin and giggle to yourself at the weird face he made your way paired with Thengel’s kind grin. Even with view of the anxious and curious Fantastic Four and Avengers who sat to the side of the three teenagers that sat whispering about the project with phones ready to film the demonstration. All the same around the fingertips of your trembling hands spare bits of braided ribbon you brought to keep your hands busy was wound and unwound again.
Cindy stepped aside and gave you a comforting grin. Tapping her finger on the mug rested on the podium you had almost lost three times in the back halls before the walk out to take your seats.
Up to the podium Dean Morita walked with a smile stating, “Thank you Cindy. And now our Valedictorian, Pluto Pear. And we are so proud to say she chose our school to attend, not only growing as a person but a student, after immigrating to the United States from her studies in Sweden and Russia. I remember the day she walked into my office to enroll herself clear as a bell. Quite an intriguing thing to have a student on their own, but from the first moment of securing her onto our scholarship has upheld every rule and standard to that fund and kept grades with ample achievements gained within the past four years. Truly taking the experience and aid of our staff to the best use towards her future degrees after this, including help in choosing Columbia University.
After being so fortunate in being granted scholarships and funds due to improvement of financial means has requested from the school board, who wished to offer her educational funding, humbly we remove her name from consideration while confirming again next semester Midtown will be housing another slotted display of a Nobel medal and diploma of her two. Not overly fond of boasting on her achievements I was asked to keep my introduction brief as anyone can simply look those up. And now for our Valedictorian herself, Pluto has not just a speech but a demonstration of a project she has been perfecting in the final semester of her time here at Midtown.”
He smiled your way in his step aside to his own seat after another glance at the barrel on your step forward to the round of cheers and excited whistles from the crowd and your friends in the sea of students. Each clearly aware of how nervous this speech had made you for this entire year.
Forcing out a grin you said, “I think the one thing that my teachers can agree on is that I tend to ramble when not on a crisp outline, so when I was told I was expected to come up with a speech things got a bit on a tangent. I went from about five sheets of torn up ideas of motivational things to try and say obviously my mind went to what we could aspire to do, which I am halfway anticipating myself to end up with a fancy hat shop in the end thanks to my indecisiveness on which way I’m going.”
Chuckles rippled through your classmates and you said, “Which had my mind wander naturally as it was Christmas time talks of Howard Stark and his son both personally flying in the big tree for the lighting ceremony easing the usual transportation nightmare we’ve faced for now on half a century. And I came up with these.” You said lifting the rings that had been laid on the top of the barrels lid having settled your diploma and framed plaque on the podium.
Eyes scanned over the rather unimpressive rings that with a shift of the camera across the monitors that closed in on your upper body and the rings allowing Tony to use his enhanced glasses to try and analyze the rings himself from his seat that from the distance he got confused at the lack of known metal in them. “There’s big money and hassle in transportation of agriculture and if we could just get the plant from the ground to the location it’s going to be planted in.”
Out of your pocket the calculator like controller was drawn. To it your gaze shifted off the crowd to press the right button. The action triggered the matte grey rings of flat lying circles to lift up and in a double helix begin to spiral around the charged green glowing core layer of crystal parts. The colors soon rippled to a spectrum of colors enough to fill out a pastel rainbow, the reaction that had Loki mutter in Old Asgardian, “Thor, I may be incorrect in my assumption-,”
Thor in awe replied, “That’s a rainbow portal. She’s tapped Yggdrasil.”
Murmurs rippled through the crowd while you were watched using your fingertips to expand the rings to about two feet around. And in a couple waves of the controller one ring floated a couple feet off the ground next to you on one side of the podium and the other above your head on your right a few feet away. The mug with cow patterns on it was lifted tightening Loki’s lips to not let them open at sight of the mug that was identical to one of his gifts he assumed to be from Lagertha that could very well be from you. “I started with a couple mugs, which are now broken, but I finally got the field right for the exit.”
From your palm the mug flipped at the fling of your hand. To spiral in its drop to fall out the other ring aimed at the ground the mug fell through to hover a couple feet from the ground. Tight and sharp MJ’s hand gripped Peter’s sleeve shaking his open mouthed self as she squeaked out, “She did it! Beam me up Scotty, right there!”
Ned open mouthed said, “Someone from our school built a teleporter. This is beyond cool!” his comments died to excited comments from the entire crowd.
In their silence you said after fetching the mug, “Which, it’s a mug. Where’s the fun in that? I forgot to bring my daisies for a living example, so-,” Shrieks of excitement and gasps came in a surge of people to their feet watching your spring over the ring that expanded to morph around your body which vanished in a poof of your gown and lift of your cap from your stubborn curls fighting it all day.
You appeared first, expected but shockingly so at the same time, to fall from the ring on the other side. Awkwardly to one knee you forced the landing, as if you couldn’t naturally stick it and the place erupted as Tony stood open mouthed still recording your downward gaze and muffled giggles at the response to the project. To your side the cap dropped to a hover and was grabbed by you and put on again. The action instantly calming the simmer Johnny Blaze felt ripple across his skin while his sister went invisible and Reed grew a few inches to assure he had clear view of your escape or sign of need for help if you got stuck. While Ben could only smirk at the confident leap into the ring proving you’d tested it several times before this.
When your eyes shifted out of the beam out you stepped and rose up again to fetch the controller that in the spark of the ring you had leapt into had it shrink and hover to be lowered into the barrel of salt to douse the reaction. “And that’s what the salt is for.”
To your side the second ring hovered and began to spark while being lowered in the barrel you added the lid to again and said after another giggle when the crowd had silenced again. “So on top of the blip, Titans, child snatching inhuman and alien coalitions, this year aliens fell from the sky and now the magical cube Odin buried on earth eons ago is holding Millionaire’s Row to itself.
None of us really know what to do with that news and I might end up with nothing more than a fancy hat shop to my name when I earn my headstone, but who knows where we’ll be. Because that’s all we really have in the end, the limits we set for ourselves for the stance of impossible. Thank you so very much for working with my randomness all of these years I will never forget the impression each and every one of you have made upon the school and my experience in it.” You gave the cheering crowd an anxious wave and lifted the diploma, plaque and mug you set on the barrel you hoisted up to your hip and smiled at the still awe struck Dean Morita and staff on your way to your seat to sit partially hiding behind your barrel.
Pats and excited hugs came from the students around you in the rain of graduation caps all the way back to the back halls you went and waded through a barrage of requests for pictures out to the front hall. There both the Princes smiled proudly as Eddie scooped you and your barrel up in a tight hug. Once released Thengel smiled in your turn to him as you said, “You made it.”
“Nightmare of a connection, but I would not miss it for the world. Even if it was government mandated credits, a year late I was going to be here.” Folding around you in his own turn.
“You are terrifying,” Johnny Storm cut in making you smirk back his way when released.
“I keep telling people that but they never believe me.” You teased back making him smirk.
Ben said with his own grin, “Looks like you’ve had some practice with that ring before.”
“Misique and Venom helped to take the first leap, in case we got torn apart by accident or hurled at some secret villain hidden realm like Svartalfheim.”
Eddie’s arm around your back broke the means to grant the raven haired Prince chance from speaking up as your brother said, “What you need is a good meal to help you forget all about this speech business.”
Tony, torn between wanting to smirk and pull you aside for a serious talk about your safety after this demonstration in the public like that, spoke up, “Cars are outside, booked a nice place. Tons of room for the barrel too.”
Rhodey said, “Wow, all I can say.”
Smirking at him you replied, “I know what some people you know are going to say.” Making him chuckle.
Yelena snuck in her two cents though by saying, “Fingers crossed you mean only mayhem for those rings. Highest grades and all that talk of boring rule keeping, have some fun.”
“Oh we’ve had some great fun breaking them in. Especially back in Sweden where I finished building them.”
Into groups you split to fill the cars that drove all the way to a hotel, inside which the booked high end eatery took up an entire floor. A place Tony assured your brother was open to ‘substitutions’ on the menu after his having heard from Peter about your troubles on school trips and places to eat before.
“You can leave the barrel over there.” He said gesturing to an empty table where you also left the robe, sash and the cap you removed to hang over one of the chairs. With a free swipe of his phone Tony read the results of the scan he took of the contents, namely the ring and asked, “That wasn’t electricity, and, the barrel is giving off oxygen. How’d you do it?”
“There’s stronger forces on the planet than electricity.” You answered turning to the group who was still standing.
Reed said in the ease of his own scanner back into his jacket pocket. “It’s not radioactive, and it’s in a barrel so solar and wind is out.”
Thor said, “Shieldmaiden Pear has tapped into the strength of Yggdrasil.”
Susan asked you, “How do you do that exactly? Do you hear a voice at random, or meditation?”
“It depends,” you answered.
Bruce asked, “And that’s the big tree again? It can talk?”
Between bodies you could have sworn to have seen Loki’s palm offered to you, but in a step closer he was seen at the table easing a seat back for you. Ushering you away from the group in the politest of ways, speaking as he did, “Yggdrasil is the tree that joins the nine realms and speaks to very few souls during any age.”
“Ya but how do you talk to it?” Tony asked.
“Past few years mainly in moments of quiet reflection or dreams. Not quite meditating to another plane of existence. Happens when it is meant to, I don’t control it.”
Her eyes narrowed asking you, “How could you be certain it was only the tree and no one else’s voice you were hearing?”
Thor answered for you, “The voice is foretold to be quite unmistakable, as is the knowledge available to be shared of many realms of many eras to one who is so trusted.”
Once at Loki’s side he asked lowly, “Might I be so bold to presume within tests of those rings a certain number of cups, sweets and even a daisy I was sent came from you instead of Misique?” a certain searching gaze flooded his eyes that were locked upon yours.
“They were mine, I apologize for any disappointment on who sent them.”
“No, no,” he said as you stepped around the chair now fully out to sit upon. And a sentimental look bled into those same eyes that refused to leave yours. “They were quite a comfort to me, reminders of a kinder home. Now I can thank you properly, where your ally is rather untraceable.”
“I am just glad you have taken such care of my daisy according to Peter.” You said making him smile and ease the chair in as you sat down.
Thengel was first to take your side, opposite Eddie, while the Prince went to settle across from you. Tony in taking his seat asked, “What kind of power source?”
“Photosynthesis is far more powerful than people give it credit.”
Bruce cut in, “Flower power, and here I thought we were getting somewhere intelligent.”
Loki says, “You should listen to her. She’s the first mortal to have grasped the concept of harnessing that power source or even recognizing it.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me. Don’t be ridiculous. Flowers?” Bruce muttered.
Clint interjected to the hurry of Peter to sit on Eddie’s free side with the other two on his other side, “Well it’d certainly be a first from what I know of.”
“People plant sunflowers and mushrooms in radioactive zones to neutralize the radiation. People never knew electricity existed for a huge chunk of our history, they used to drink radium before they realized how potent and dangerous it was. Mint and blackberry plants can take over civilizations if not kept in check. You have no idea what power you water in those tiny bright colored pots on your windowsill. You harness that you can change the world in a way that can’t be governed or restricted or hoarded to be used against your enemies. Countries keep drilling for energy when all they need is to just think outside of the box. It’s so much more than Mother Nature at work here. Every seed knows what to do, how?”
He shakes his head and Reed cut in, “In their DNA I would assume. Same as us.”
“And like us we have a power center. Our brains. Theirs is just smaller. This whole planet down to its molten core is alive.”
MJ said, “Just like that Dr Who episode with the flying space whale.”
“Exactly. We need to stop electrocuting the Pilot of this ship and let it take us to where we’re going.”
Loki teased, “Finally, someone brilliant on this planet. Only took six thousand years.”
“You know people aren’t going to believe you right?” Banner said in a reach for the wine glass of water left on the table in front of him.
“Oh they will. And they’ll start burning the planet down to make sure they keep control. Because there’s nothing more dangerous in the history of our race than a human who feels like they are close to being powerless. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Tony looked you over with a purse of his lips for a moment. “They’ll believe me. Then like so many brilliant minds before me one day I’ll just be gone, or discredited and branded as deranged.”
Susan asked, “So how does this mystical tree link to those rings?”
Thor chuckled, “The rings are a Rainbow Portal similar to our Bifrost transportation system.”
Tony asked as the waiter offered out the menus to each of you, “She can go to other planets with those rings?”
“They only work about a mile apart right now.” You said lowering your eyes to the menu your fingers blindly flipped open.
Thor, “Mainly due to the current setting I would wager. However it would merely be a matter of linking the system to one of our gateways and the distance could be heightened exponentially.”
Tony said, “But she could go to another planet?”
Bruce asked, “And you came up with that from a giant Christmas tree?”
“More or less.”
Johnny asked, “How do you get it to hover like that?”
“The inner rings, they’re a type of crystal like material, I have he atomic map for it but I still don’t know the origins of them.”
Loki spoke up, “Even our masters of the Rainbow Bridge are not aware of those origins, we merely happen to find them when they are necessary.”
Thor added, “When I broke the bridge it was taken as a sign we were not meant to rebuild as the usual sights were clear of new batches to harvest. Took a good while until the proper parts were able to be located. Mother scolded me quite justifiably for the trials I put upon our people without use of our bridge.”
Susan said, “So they can’t find it and you can just make it. Convenient.”
“I haven’t been able to make more since the rings were completed.”
Clint asked, while smirking, the question before Reed could, “Curious how you tested the rings, if you might have used anything specific.”
“Cups mostly, few empty. First few broke, then some of them just started to vanish. When I broke my wrist I got to ask a friend what could be interfering and she said the only thing that could was the Tesseract.”
Ned asked, “The cube that’s got the new block hostage?”
“Yes, and well more started to vanish, ones that weren’t empty I filled with Raisonettes. Took about half a bag of those and one of my daisies before Misique jumped through and found out Loki had been getting my stolen goods,” the wording made the Prince smirk both inside and out. “Although after she got sent back by the Tesseract the rings stopped looping to steal my things.”
Steve asked after stealing a glance at Johnny, who was looking between the Prince, who hadn’t taken his eyes off you, and you while you chose a drink off the menu. “How do you figure it worked out that way?” Up to Steve your eyes lifted, “Cube just happens to take your stuff and send it his way, happens to send Misique to cut him loose, then nothing.”
“How well do you know the chaos theory?”
Reed answered for him, “Butterfly flaps its wings one end of the world a tsunami kicks up halfway across the world, interlinked phenomena both mundane and extraordinary.”
“I happened to show up in Queens, happen to meet Dean Morita whose grandfather was close with both you and Nick Fury to get into school. From there everyone at this table just happened to cross my path in various ways. Prince Thor was meant to be sent here for exile, Mr Stark and I were both meant to be taken and free ourselves,” you said making Tony draw in a subtle breath, “I happened to dream about the rings, eventually making them and they helped us to find Prince Loki so he could free himself. The Norns have woven the tapestries of our lives and no one can escape destiny.”
Ben asked, “And you’re hoping to have these used for transporting plants?”
“That would be the ideal, though I can only imagine the military would be expecting their own copy, which most likely would have me sitting on top of them to prevent that.”
Bucky smirked at the image as MJ said, “Not like they need an easier way to pull off Hiroshima pt 2. All the damage but no warning system for the target.”
“No shortage of history agreeing with that plan.” Ned said.
Thor stated, “Fairly unlikely an outcome as the rings are useless outside of your possession.”
Rhodey asked, “You can tell it’s got a security system on it from the demonstration alone?”
“This planet is not yet prepared for this technology.” The Prince answered.
Bruce teased, “And yet a child figured it out.”
Loki said, “Yggdrasil trusts very few gatekeepers. Were anyone to steal the technology from Miss Pear they would find them uncooperative, and that mile limit is the stretch between root channels where the power is the strongest.”
Bruce, “So the tree won’t let anyone else use the rings?”
“Not a soul,” Thor said.
And Tony asked, “Why her?”
Loki answered, “She listens. Clearly.”
Tony looked to you as Susan said, “You must really love plants, build that to just move them.”
Peter said, “You know there are Mother trees, who adopt whole forests of smaller trees. And their roots can stretch and tangle for miles around the trunks. Trees share nutrients and food they get from sunlight even if they grow in the shade of taller trees. They talk and help each other.” Everyone looked at him and he said, “If people were like trees we’d be living in Eden. We have to protect the trees, and if we can move them safer, could help everyone.”
Looking at Steve you asked him, “Get your art tutor yet?”
“Yes, getting caught up. Did read up on what you said about Manga, look interesting, not sure I’d go to set them up to be read backwards, but then that’s how you read Japanese. Getting caught up and got a new copy of my diploma and community college records I can re-enroll, maybe by fall.”
“That’s good,” your eyes shifted to Bucky, “I know you’re still studying.”
“Yup, nearly memorized the manuals.” He said with a grinning nod.
“I’m sure the team could help you find something to sell. After all they have the Captain in propaganda infomercials for our school to try and compel us to be our better selves.”
Steve glanced away out of embarrassment as Ned and MJ started parroting their favorite clips back to him that had Bucky smirk and eager to hear more on what his friend had been up to for a living while they were apart.
The delivery of drinks had the table wide discussion lull as Tony noticed Eddie’s hushed conversation with you and pat of his hand on your hand rested on top of your lap. The motion had Tony’s eyes linger on you while you gave a brow twitching butcher of the Chef’s favorite dish to fit your own preference that had enough of a reaction to cause the Princes to do the same and see how obedient the Chef would be to Stark’s paycheck.
Thor broke the silence when the waiter again left and asked, “Shieldmaiden Pear, which one of your parents does your brother resemble most?”
Eddie smirked and laid his hand across your lap and smiled when your hands settled around his forearm when he said, “I’m adopted. Found this one in the park, some assholes had roughed her up. Took her home and patched her up, never could get shaken free.”
Steve asked, “They catch the guys who did it?”
Eddie said, “Venom ate them. Got caught in a trap at the wrong time.”
Loki drew your eyes to him when he said, “Yes, the Symbiote. Known to be quite fond of children, and it is no bit of chance that him and that Misique character have grown close. Only way to find peace with their race is to allow them to find a host and then form a familial bond. Otherwise they decimate the population of the planet they are dropped on.”
Natasha asked, “Venom’s an alien?”
Bruce, “Symbiote? Like a parasite?”
Thor, “No more a parasite then your Hulk. Mutually protective entities who share the same physical space.”
Steve, “Alien, and he’s been here for years. How many more of him are there?”
Ned, “No wonder Misique was so skilled in taking the bad aliens down.”
Questions seemed to overlap across the table. Your grandfather stole a chance to speak to you hushedly in Danish congratulating you on your speech, however small it was to pair with the phenomenal demonstration. Reed was the first to ask him how his trip was going and shared about the flight home to Denmark he had later nearer to midnight. Johnny asked, “You aren’t staying? Pluto are you flying out early with him?”
“Caught a connection that let me off here in time.” Thengel answered him.
“No, I still have some work shifts to fill before I fly out.” You answered the now clearly relieved blue eyed young man who had the Widows picking up on the clear shift of masculine eyes between you and others causing an odd settle of the mood that shifted again as Melina cut in.
“Do you plan on continuing to work, even with big checks rolling in?”
“Well you never know, someone could swoop in and knock me off the military favorite list. And I need something to occupy my free time, better to fill my pockets and help others in one swing. Make sure I don’t put all my eggs in one basket, chaos follows me.”
Around Eddie the teens started to talk to you while the talk of the table broke up into smaller groups when the food arrived. Halfway through stolen glimpses across the table had both the golden haired Prince, with cheeks stuffed, smile your way and his raven haired brother follow the magnetic sensation of eyes on him. Mid conversation with Bucky he glanced your way only to see you look to Rhodey at his question asked across the table. When he did look back again a few bites later your seat was empty causing him to look around to notice Nat and Yelena were gone as well.
On the other side of the incredibly upscale stall the Widows turned at the sound of your steps to the sink beside theirs with a smile. Natasha said, “Impressive job today. And for the record I am proud of your want to build yourself up. Not easy, I’ve been there more than once. Plus you aren’t wrong, those rings out of your control would only spell disaster.”
Yelena asked, “Where do you buy your clothes?” making you smirk.
“There’s tons of second hand shops with great deals, save a ton of money when you learn to tailor clothes, then you aren’t stuck on your own sizes to buy. And if you pick the right ones they have designer clothes as well.”
Yelena asked, “So, Banes trained you, a birdie told us you are a White Dove, why would you hide that?”
“I am no one’s weapon, but I’m perfectly capable of being everyone’s nightmare if anyone tries to push me to be one. Same way I’m certain you both could be.”
Nat asked, “If you weren’t on the run, would you still have sold the Blackhowls to the military?”
With a smirk you said, “One, it’s money, and two, they’re not the weapons they assume them to be. Bold to say, but the only thing we have to do is halt greed and war will follow.”
Yelena cut in as you finished washing your hands, “Bold move, try to end war.”
“Didn’t say stop, just like the bomb scare, once the other sides had the notes for building nuclear bombs this country couldn’t fully hold that stick over anyone else’s heads without repercussions.”
Nat asked, “And just what do you imagine could make people think twice before starting another war?”
“Same thing that has always been used, a bigger boom.”
Yelena smirked, “I knew I liked you.” Joining you on the way out of the bathroom to take up the empty seats again and finish the current round of food and next one to come.
“Pluto, you can silence this argument, what could the cube want with the new row?” Conversation ebbed and flowed around yourself granting ample time to observe and have smaller side conversations with more than a few upward glances confirming the feeling that the Prince again had been looking your way.
.
Barrel pressed to your side where you stood outside the hotel Tony stole a moment to come up to your side, luring your eyes straight to him from triple checking you had everything in hand. “Wanted to say something that’s been rattling around since you won those awards and credited me and my dad and Stark Air got your funding. I’m donating $14 million to your parents’ research center,” he said dropping your jaw. “1.4 is pocket change for medical research even just on the transportation of subjects alone. I know they have that fundraiser but even a King on your side won’t gain much pocket change after a few years. Cancers and kids get money easy, can’t have you blowing all your BigBuck money on funding unpretty research landing you bankrupt like Reed did on his space tech.”
“That’s-,”
“Barely a drop in the bucket compared to repairs since I became Iron Man. Come on, imagine the headlines. Gain you some more funding in a snap.”
“Well we’ll just have to see how powerful this proverbial snap of yours is, Iron Man,” you joked making him smirk. “If you’re up to a charitable mood I won’t be one to stop it.”
“Good, after all, press says I’m turning things around after that whole registry strike. Bout time, huh?”
“Well, everyone deserves a second chance to be kind.”
He nodded and asked, “Misique okay? She’s a kid, she seemed to take the brunt of it. Rhodey said you were a bit upset about that. Said she felt like a testing dummy.”
“Well, bulletproof tech has always been the go to, then Kevlar for explosions, hard to know what to dress for when aliens come knocking.” You said making him smirk again.
“True, very true. I was more upset about the mess on my face and the fuss everyone else was making about it. No one traps you in a hospital bed when you’ve been attacked by a wrench or book wielding foe.”
He nodded, “No, Pepper does worse, much worse, because they often don’t have something as common place as a book or wrench.” Turning with you he watched your stroll ahead to get back to the car you had arrived in.
“Got a surprise for you,” Johnny said making you smirk and accept the envelope, the curious grin on your face spread in his lean forward to say lowly, “Don’t open it here, hush hush, you’re my plus one for the big wedding.” In his pull back as your head tilted slightly his grin grew, “Had four flubs so far, this one’s in Japan, worst to worst I can take you to a spa after the ceremony is foiled.” He winked your way and in a step he turned to answer Susan’s call for him as they got a blip on their alarm system allowing you to keep going towards Eddie and Thengel at the car.
Loki a few steps away, made shorter by his own stride your way, said in his turn to say farewell after his brother had, “Celebrate today. You gave a fine demonstration to the other mortals and have discovered things far beyond their capabilities. Continue your research.”
“Thank you. And I know it was a bit of a lengthy ceremony.”
Thor chuckled teasing, “Clearly you are ignorant of the monotony of Asgardian Royal processions which can take up to half a day on occasion.”
“Not sure how I’d be anything but ignorant on anything royal. This planet or otherwise. Enjoy your day hope it turns out magnificent, Your Majesties. I’ll be off to take my barrel of salt home.”
Tumblr media
His eyes trailing to Loki’s hand that caught the plaque slipping from your grip around the barrel. A cloud of green mist atop his other palm created a purple fur cloud shaped bag parting your lips he opened and eased the plaque, diploma and robe that magically folded up to seal inside so he could magically wiggle the waist length chain braided with ribbons of fur around your torso. A bit closer you leaned to whisper, “Now who went and told you I love fur.” His smirk spread and you teased, “Thank you, you magical mysterious wonder you.” Swiftly again in a step away atop his cheek a gentle peck of lips were left cementing Eddie’s whisper to Thengel you had a crush on the Prince, and the Prince got more proof that the act, while on purpose was ultimately perplexing as to why you chose to do so twice now.
“The envelope,” he said turning you around with a curious smirk. “What did he gift you? I can double it with ease.”
Softly you giggled smiling at him causing his brow to inch up and Clint to take a step closer to Nat to conference on what they were spying on out here in the open, “You know two couples getting married?” Shifting the envelope between your fingers you said, “Invited me to be his plus one to his sister’s wedding.”
“Where and when?” he asked flatly nearer to an order than a request only making his brow inch up as you giggled again.
“Not a clue, supposed to be a secret. Keep the press away.”
“Hmm,” he said to himself watching you stroll away, and looked at his smiling brother. “That smile is not necessary, I have done nothing to warrant it.”
“Tis not her smile that has warranted mine, brother.”
“I am not smiling,” Loki said beginning a bickering match on the way to their own chosen car.
“Prince Loki magicked me a bag.” You said to your grandfather then turned to say to Eddie and his wide smile, “Not here.” Making Eddie chuckle in his dip into the car behind you, eager to get you home and celebrate on your own.
“Shoot your shot sis, no argument here.”
“The Prince is an admirable choice of a suitor.” Thengel said in Danish and chuckled himself at your wide eyed stare his way.
.
Off to the side however Tony asked Peter, “What was that with the tree bit at the table?”
Peter answered, “Bumble told me. We watched Prom night drives home together.”
“Pete, don’t go down that path.” He sighed and Rhodey stepped closer with the others.
Rhodey asked, “What else she say?”
Peter, “Said she’s been looking in to SHIELD, said there’s spies,” that had faces drop and he continued, “She’s got PTSD. When she moved here what happened to her parents, she saw stories in the press about people hurting kids and she started having flashbacks.”
Natasha said, “She did say she was in therapy now.”
Steve asked Rhodey, “What’s PTSD?” quietly to not interrupt the teen.
Peter said, “She’s not a bad person, she’s just healing from some very bad stuff. And she’s trying to help people, maybe not the government, but the people.”
Tony said, “And just why hasn’t she said anything about that to me then?”
Reluctantly the teen said, “She said you haven’t been hurt by the system yet and you still trust it.”
Tony said, “So I trust the system and there’s spies in the organization that’s defending our country and possibly world. Sure, let’s distrust that.”
Bucky said, “If I wanted to bring down SHIELD I know where I’d get hired.”
And Peter said, “Hey, that’s what she said too.” He looked to the car that MJ called out from and he said, “Just give her a chance, she just needs some friends. Helped to save the world. Could be great for the team.”
Tony sighed and said to himself, “That would be useful, if she could be a team player.”
Bucky was quick to hurry to your car to join you for the trip to your place to talk more about the criteria to limit house choices now Thengel was here and could give tips for a first home for you here.
.
By midnight however you were laid out on your bed mentally reworking the weeks ahead and funds to get yourself out to Japan to the smooth of fingertips across the new bag the Prince had given you laid on the bed beside you. Eventually you did fall asleep and take a lazy morning in to have some time alone before the joint dinner with the Cage and Bradley families to have a triple graduation celebration dinner they had planned.
The other teens had ideas at least what they wanted to do while you had received more interest on your jewelry page and word from hospitals in state inquiring for some flocks of sensors of their own. More work, and more funds to build on. Much like the now blatantly public notice of support from Stark to your parents’ center as the internet was on fire at the clip of your rings at work.

Irondad fic ideas #157
The spell is almost complete, and MJ knows. She knows Peter's never going to come find them. He's going to let himself stay forgotten.
So as soon as he's swung away she opens her phone and types in the first chat she sees with Peter not in it: "May Parker's nephew the most boring white boy name Tony Stark's son Midtown decath I love him Ned's best friend about to be erased by magic DONT FORGET HIM FIND HIM."
She manages to add a few final notes just for her, to prove to her future self that she's really the one sending the message. She hits send just as the spell is sealed.
It turns out, the group chat she'd written in was the one for "FOS" (Friends of Spider-Man).
When she stumbles across the chat again, large sections of it's history are now blank, and she doesn't remember what the name stands for. But the members are still there: herself, Ned, May Parker, Happy Hogan, and Tony Stark.
So. Two dead people and May's ex boyfriend, who never bothers to respond. At least Ned is determined. And that "I love him" echoes in her head. They both begin to poke at the mystery, not really sure it'll ever be solved.
Little does she know, Tony Stark is not as dead as the whole world believes. And he's very concerned that this random group chat is talking about magic and him having a missing son.

Remember when Peter made videos of his trip to Germany coz he can't talk with anyone about it. What if he does the same after the spell because he has no one to talk to about all the pain he is in...

Summary: The battle is ending as you finally have a sight of why Peter was so drawn to you. Can you rewrite the stars or will they remain unchanged forever? [ part 1 & part 3 & part 4 & part 5 ]
Tumblr media
You gasped looking up. A sandstorm picked up as broken off pieces of the structure got lifted up in the air. From your position on the ground, you could easily see the battle. All three Peter’s swinging on their web. Peter, your Peter was focused on Green Goblin. Peter two focusing on Lizard.
Peter three avoiding a bolt of electricity. They were so occupied they didn’t had eyes for what was happening behind them. Eyes widening you saw the broken off pieces fly towards Peter three. You ran out from your hiding position. – “Peter!” – you screamed loud, gaze upwards.
Peter three’s eyes widened hearing your voice. As if his spider tingle was tuned on finding your voice blindly. His immediate reaction was to look down to you. – “Peter!” – you screamed again pointing upwards. Peter’s gaze went back up, looking back in horror at the flying piece of structure coming his way.
He shot a web swinging past it just in time. His action made him nearly bump against Peter one, your Peter. Peter three was dangling sloppy and out of balance. He shot another web directing him to vast ground on the construction. He needed to find his balance again.
His feet touched vast ground as he stumbled a bit forwards. Ned moving out of the way just in time. – “What are you doing the battle is up there.” – Ned called out. Peter grabbed onto the railing, shooting Ned a glare out of breath. MJ slapped him hard against the arm. – “You try fighting off all those villains.” – MJ said coming to his defence.
Peter saluted her before jumping on the railing and leaping into the depts. MJ came running over to the railing, greeted by a tumbling Peter in the air as his web had released. Strange was on top as a piece of construction went his way.
He quickly opened a portal as it flung through it. Another portal opened closer to the ground. Surprised you looked up, eyes wide in horror. A piece of structure slowly falling down. You started to scream, running to a direction, hoping you’d be fast enough to not get squashed. – “Y/n!” – Peter one called out in a panic.
“On it!” – Peter two replied setting himself off to jump down. He kept falling till he shot out a web. Changing his position to swing fast, opening an arm. He lifted his feet up so they wouldn’t scrape the ground as he flung low.
With a loud oof where you grabbed and lifted up in the air with him. – “Careful out there Y/n.” – he said with a soft chuckle. – “Blame Strange.” – you mumbled out. Peter two came to a stop further away. He let go of you. – “Go hide!” – he ordered before launching himself back in the air.
You ran to some rubble, finding a hiding spot in between. There you waited for the battle to come to an end. Hoping Strange wouldn’t drop another boulder on you. While you waited, unconsciously were you pulled back to the feeling when you fell.
The fear making your muscles tense. Then that warm feeling came when Peter caught you. Somehow when you were in his arms, your fear faded away. Seeing the fear and heartbreak in his eyes made you yearn to comfort him.
Being with him was like a movie you had seen before. Something close yet out of reach. There was no denying the way his presence made you feel. Feel visible. With Peter, your Peter you were visible too, but not that much.
You very much felt like a side-character watching the main one’s have a wonderful life as you faded out into nothingness. Only being present when you were requested. Sometimes you felt lonely around your friends. Almost as if you were that one person just too much.
It wasn’t a great feeling. With Peter, Peter three you didn’t felt that way. It felt like you were actually mattered. A feeling you wanted to hold onto for as long as it could.
Everyone made their way down as the battle had been stilled. Peter one had held MJ to bring her down safely. Ned was with Strange as Peter two and three joined. MJ and Peter hugged tightly. Ned exhaled relieved running up to them. Peter three looked around worried.
“Y/n? Where is Y/n?” – he said in a bit of a panic. You hear your name, moving a fallen plate out of your way to clear your way. - “Peter!” – you called out as three heads turned your way. You came out of your hiding place now that the battle had toned down. – “Y/n.” – Peter said from your earth relieved.
You started to run up to them beyond relieved that no one was too injured. Perhaps a few bruises. He smiled opening his arms a bit to you, ready to receive a hug from you. Yet his smile faltered when you ran past him to another Peter. You swung your arms around Peter three as they liked to call him and spun around with him as he hugged you tightly back.
Peter, your Peter gaped confused at you. Peter two came by his side placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. Peter three had his hand against the back of your head. – “Are you hurt?” – he asked setting you back down. You shook your head, presenting your good state to him.
“All clear.” – you joked making him smile saddened. – “Peter.” – Strange called out. Peter three lowered his head knowing what was to come. Tilting your head a bit, you watched Peter carefully. – “Why are you sad?” – you asked.
He lifted his head up with a teary smile. – “You gave me something I could only dream off.” – he told you letting his thumb brush against your cheek. You smiled genuinely back at him. – “Peter.” – Strange persisted on, waiting to send him back. Peter’s smile faded knowing he’d never get to see you again.
MJ picked up on the way Peter was looking at you. It made him look at her own Peter for a moment. – “You lost someone didn’t you?” – she asked out of the blue. Peter lifted his head up to her, surprised. He then nodded saddened. – “I…I did…” – he answered. His hand slid down as his head lowered briefly. – “I…I lost your MJ…” – he gestured at your Peter. – “My… my Y/n.” – he swallowed down the knot in his throat.
You blinked surprised to him, hearing your name out of his mouth. Suddenly it was all so clear. The feeling why you felt so attracted to Peter. Like magnets. Your first reaction was to throw your arms around him and embrace him. Wanting to be close to him.
Peter hugged you tightly back. He didn’t want the feeling to end. Neither did you. – “Peter! Say your final goodbye’s.” – Strange called out. It made you pull away. – “Can’t… can’t he stay?” – you asked as his hand was still on your lower back. Strange shook his head. – “No kid, this world can’t have two spiderman. He belongs on his earth, where they need a spiderman like him.” – Strange explained.
Peter and you looked at each other. – “What if…” – Peter started as you finished off his words. – “What if I come with him?” – you suggested. – “What?” – Peter called out, your Peter. – “Y/n you can’t be serious!” – he called out walking up to you. – “You belong here with us!” – he made perfectly clear.
“Do I Peter?” – you answered back. You turned away from your Peter, back to Strange. – “I can come with him right? He lost his Y/n, so it wouldn’t create a paradox, right?” – you explained. – “Kid…” – Strange began as you knew he was going to tell you no.
“That’s not how it works. The you from his world is no more. You don’t belong there. I’m sorry.” – he told you. – “There must be a way?” – Peter three exclaimed. – “There isn’t!” – Strange answered snappy. Peter, your Peter was pulling on your wrist, pulling you away from him. – “No… please…” – you begged reaching out to Peter. Peter knew he was being selfish but he wanted you.
He missed you so deeply, he couldn’t imagine a world without you. Peter reached back for you. You broke free from Peter’s grip, running up to him. You clamped yourself onto him, not wanting to let go. – “I just want you.” – you told him. Peter held tightly onto you, afraid he might lose you again if he loosened his grip on you. – “I love you Y/n. On every earth.” – he told you as you slowly felt his grip loosen.
Confused you stumbled a bit forwards at the loss of a grip. With glossy eyes your arms embraced yourself. Crying you fell to your knees. Peter, your Peter approached you placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. You brushed it off, wanting nothing of him. Strange had finished the spell without anyone knowing.
Peter stumbled forwards, looking confused at his empty hands. – “No…no…n-n-no…” – he stumbled out grabbing the air, wanting to feel your last touch. – “Nooo!” – he cried out dropping to his knees. Strange had finished the spell. Sending him back to his earth alone. It felt more dreadful knowing he had you back, just to be taken away.
Once again his heart began to bleed with sorrow and grief. Grief overtaking him so badly, he started to hyperventilate in the abandoned alleyway. This was torture. After a while he dragged himself back to his house. Aunt May looking worriedly up.
“Where have you…” – she was about to scold him when she noticed the stained tears on his cheek. She immediately ran up to him, embracing him for comfort. – “I’ve lost her again…” – he said to Aunt May as she furrowed her brows.
She moved some hair aside to sooth him. She knew how hard your death had fallen upon him. Peter went to his bedroom letting himself fall onto his bed. Staring at the ceiling, he felt like spinning. – “I’ve lost you once, but not again…” – he told himself.
“I’ll find a way… even if it is the last thing I do.” – he rolled over to his side, his gaze falling on the many pictures of you and him on his wall. – “Come back to me…” – he said with a tiny crack in his voice.

you don’t understand, peter parker just has so much love in his heart. he’s polyamorous, but it’s more than that. he loves every person with his whole heart completely.
romantically, yeah, of course. he has scrapbooks full of photographs of every single person he’s dated, keeps a memento box with something from every date. he remembers harry’s mom’s recipes, learns how to play gwen’s favorite song on the guitar, teaches mj skateboard tricks. he watches wade’s boring ass movies with him and doesn’t complain once, let’s ned win at his favorite board game, laughs at johnny’s terrible jokes in the mornings, lets felicia act like they’re nothing no matter how important they are to each other. every single one of them, he loves them wholly and completely, individually. he loves them all in ways he’s never loved before, because all of them are so different that he has to love them all in their own specific way.
even more than that, he makes sure to visit may once a week because he knows she worries about him when he’s patrolling. he brings new flowers to his parents and to ben as often as he possibly can. he gets coffee for the entire office every morning, most people venmo him for it, but he doesn’t ask them too, just brings it because he loves the environment, loves working there so much. every few weeks he brings in donuts. he makes sure everyone has a cake on their birthday, their favorite flavor, and a handwritten card signed by everyone. he makes sure scared women get home safely, he talks to the lost children to keep them company until they find their guardians, he remembers the names and faces of people he saves, recognizes them when he’s seen them more than once. he makes people feel so seen and safe in the city he loves just by loving them so much.
just, i love peter parker and they way that he loves.

Peter Parker x f!reader
Synopsis: Peter has a crush on you from afar. One day you ask him to tutor you and things go from there.
Note: This really doesn't follow any specific canon from the movies.
Tumblr media
"You know staring at Y/N won't make her like you."
Peter's head shot up at the sound of a voice behind him, that of MJ's.
"W-what are you talking about?" Peter chuckled awkwardly, doing a horrible job of lying.
"Me and Ned notice how much you watch Y/N. You always bring up any interaction you two have- and so much more! You like her. Just admit it, nerd," MJ explained amid the noisy school cafeteria.
"So what if I do?" Peter shrugged as MJ sat next to him.
"You should make a move- oh wait- you're too scared," MJ said with a sly smirk, begging him to fight back, which he did.
"Nervous? I'm an Avenger! I don't get nervous!" Peter hissed.
"Then go talk to her, Avenger" MJ shrugged like it was the only obvious option.
"Well- I- I just don't want her to think I'm weird."
"Well, then you're out of luck in that regard," she joked dryly. "You two used to be close. Why can't you spark up a conversation about, like, the past?"
"'Cause it's random, and also, we were friends in middle school! That was a while ago, MJ!"
"OK, Parker, I give up. Enjoy your futile people-watching."
Peter watched as MJ walked away to the lunch line. She wasn't wrong. He was too scared to even consider being near Y/N.
The boy sighed, going back to eating his lunch after you left the room.
___
"Alrighty!" Mr. Harrington clapped his hands together. "We have a new member for this semester's Academic Decathlon!"
The club whispered among themselves in anticipation of who it could be. Peter glanced up from his book when, of course, you entered the classroom with a new copy of the textbook.
"I'm sure you all know Y/N, so welcome her into the club and help her get acquainted with the material for today's practice."
You smiled shyly at the group, waving and going to take a seat in the open chair next to Flash.
Peter silently groaned, letting his head fall onto the desk. Of course, it was you, and of course, you had to sit next to Flash. Flash had an obvious crush on you as well.
"Peter. Wanna start off today's practice?" Mr. Harrington asked, staring directly at Peter as he lifted his head off his desk. Everyone was looking at him.
Peter sighed, standing up with his textbook to go to the podium to call the questions.
The first round went by fast. You answered three times, getting all answers right. Peter could feel himself smile every time you rang the bell.
Peter tried his best to compliment you when you answered during the second round.
At one point, Peter asked a question the Flash rang in for. Peter watched as the boy mouthed to you: watch this.
Flash got the question wrong, making you slightly giggle. Peter chucked, as did the rest of the class, at Flash's misplaced confidence. However, Peter wasn't laughing at Flash this time- he was laughing because you laughed. Peter wanted to cling on to any bit of you he could. He was glad Flash's terrible attempt to show off failed.
After a few more rounds, Peter traded off with another student. Peter didn't want to be like Flash and do a flashy show-off of his skills, but he did want to impress you.
Peter heard the first question- ringing in as soon as he could. He wasn't confident with his odds but gave a shaky answer, which was revealed to be correct.
Peter smiled slightly. When he glanced to the left, you were smiling at him, presumably because he aced the question. He smiled back at you, hoping this was some sort of connection. You were noticing him!
If that was what it took, he could do it. Peter answered every question he could, getting almost all right. He got a thumbs-up from you once after a question!
___
After practice ended, he was packing his bag to leave when you approached him. Peter felt his heart speeding up dramatically.
"Hey, Peter. Love the jacket," you started things off, making Peter smile and examine his jacket, vowing to wear it more often.
"Thank you. I... like your shirt. Um- you did good on your first day," Peter gave a tightlipped smile, trying to act normal.
"Thanks, but you were on fire! Like seriously, some of those questions were insane," you gushed, grinning the whole time.
"Oh, wow, uh, thank you!" Peter stuttered out, causing you to giggle. "You gave great answers, too!" He rushed to follow up.
"Yeah, about that... those were the bare minimum. I joined this club to help raise my grades. Clearly you know your stuff, so... I have the biggest favor to ask."
Peter raised his brows. "Uh, yeah, what's that?"
"So, it's OK if you say no because it's so random, but could you tutor me in some of the subjects covered here? I could really use the help, but again it's OK if y-"
"I'll do it," Peter agreed quickly, blushing at how eager he sounded. You grinned largely.
"Seriously? 'Cause I could pay you if that's necessary."
"Y/N, you don't have to pay anything. Honestly, I mean, it's the least I can do for the girl who defended me from Jose in 8th grade," Peter recalled a memory from their past, mentally punching himself for saying something that most likely meant nothing to her.
"You still remember that? Wow, I didn't know I could even make an impact like that," you said, surprised in a good way.
Peter decided to roll with it. "Uh, yeah, I mean, Jose was a jerk, so I was just glad someone stood up for me. So, uh, yeah," Peter awkwardly chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck.
You shrugged nonchalantly. "Anytime. But yeah, thank you so much for agreeing. When are you free to go over the material?"
Peter supposed one evening without Spider-Man wouldn't hurt. "Tonight," he said right away. "Um, like five?"
"Can do. At the library?"
"Absolutely."
"See you then, Peter. Thanks again," you waved at him as you left the class to go to your next.
___
"So, you're telling me that all you had to do was be nerdy, and she just came up to you?" MJ recounted Peter's story in a tone laced with disbelief.
"Yes! Seriously. If you didn't have to miss today's practice for your re-do test, you would've seen it! So, believe it or not, I've gotta get to the library soon and tutor Y/N," Peter said cockily, standing up from the barstool at the cafe MJ part-timed at.
MJ just rolled her eyes but gave a genuine smile. "Good luck. Don't screw it up."
"Thanks? I'll try not to."
With that, Peter slung his bag onto his back and left the shop, library-bound.
___
The library wasn't awfully busy that weekday, making it easy to find a table in a corner. Peter laid his books and notebooks out, realizing you wouldn't know where he was, nor did he have your number to text you.
Everything worked out, however, when you wandered into the back section he was sitting, looking lost. Your eyes lit up at the sight of him, making Peter's stomach churn in a good way.
You walked with a purpose over to the table, sitting your stuff down. "I was looking all over for you," you grinned, not meaning it in a guilt-tripping way.
Peter realized he actually had to reply instead of staying in a daydream. "Oh- yeah. I sat here and realized you might not be able to find me, but luckily you did."
"Yeah, it only took like, seven different aisles," you laughed before opening your notebook.
Peter couldn't tell if he was just nervous or if he just loved the sound of your laugh, but his heart raced.
"So, I was thinking... we could piggyback off what we did in practice today?"
"Sounds good. I'm sure whatever I learn will be good when you're teaching it," you said, laying your chin on the palm of your hand.
Peter could feel his face heat up. He ducked his head down to the textbook and chuckled. "Yeah... I- uh- just start in on page five right here."
For thirty minutes, Peter was able to impart some knowledge your way. After you two finished a chapter, you turned to Peter with a closed-mouth smile. "This has been really helpful, thank you."
Peter frowned. "You're done?"
You continued smiling. "Just for today, yeah. But I'm really hungry... do you wanna get something to eat?"
Peter perked up at the invitation to continue spending time together. "Yeah, I'd love to!" He said very excitedly, to which you just giggled.
"OK, c'mon. I'll show you this really good Thai place I like down the block."
You and Peter collected your things, exiting the library together to walk down the sidewalk to the restaurant of choice.
"So, you had that Stark Internship, right?"
"Yeah- still do, actually. I'm still just the young guy, though."
"Hey, they'll realize what a dedicated worker you are, and when they do, they'll have to give you more opportunities."
"You think so?"
"You seem like you have a great work ethic, Peter, so yeah, I do think so."
Peter just grinned, looking down at the sidewalk. You were making him nervous.
___
The restaurant you two entered was moderately nice for a casual New York City restaurant.
You both ordered at the counter and then sat at an empty table.
Peter wanted to try and flirt, but he knew he'd be super awkward and make things weird. Nevertheless, he still attempted to gain your favor.
"You caught on really fast with the Academic stuff. It was like you already knew it! So, I guess you're a natural."
You looked away and grinned. "Thank you. I- um- guess I just needed a few reminders, is all."
Peter cocked a brow, but their food was placed in front of them at that moment. The two ate, sharing conversation about middle school and how annoying some of their classes were now.
Somehow, the topic got moved on to Flash.
"You know Flash has a thing for you," Peter decided to throw bait into the water as the pair left the restaurant, being that they had finished their food.
You furrowed your brows. "Yeah, I know. We actually have two classes together- three counting Decathalon now. He hits on me every day. It gets tiring really fast."
"What?" Peter exclaimed in fake shock. "You don't appreciate all his futile attempts to be a womanizer?"
You laughed and shook your head. "Crazy, right? I might be the only one who doesn't. I just- I just already have my eyes on someone else."
"Oh," Peter mumbled aloud, regretting how disappointed he sounded. "Um... is it weird to ask-"
"Who it is?" you cut him off. "Yeah, I was hoping you would've guessed by now," you stopped walking, Peter doing the same, peering at you with confusion.
"I-I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to be invasive. I-"
"It's you, Peter. I've been trying to flirt with you and give you hints, hoping you'd make a move," you chuckled to fill the air.
"Oh... Oh!" Peter put a hand to his chest. "You," he pointed at you, then back at himself. "Like me?"
"Yes!" You desperately hoped he felt the same.
"I- woah. I really like you too, Y/N," Peter sputtered out.
"Really? Because I was starting to think my plan failed."
"Plan?"
"You said it yourself in the restaurant... I already knew that stuff we were learning. I don't need tutoring. I just decided to ask you so... I dunno," you looked away embarrassed. "So we could do something outside of school."
When you looked back up, Peter was grinning widely. "You made a plan just to be with me?"
You nodded.
"That's- wow. I was trying to drop hints all day too, but I suck at anything flirting-wise. I was just excited you kept asking to do stuff, but you planned this all along. You made the dominoes fall until we were here."
"I didn't know this would be how I confessed, but yeah. I don't need tutoring when I'm the mastermind," you joked and shrugged.
"Maybe it's my turn to do something..." Peter looked into your eyes, searching your face. "Can I kiss you?"
You leaned in, letting that be your answer. His lips met yours as you two kissed in the darkening evening. The cool Queens air hit the side of your face as you pulled away, catching your breath.
"Was that good? Because I'm definitely not an expert."
You just giggled. "Yes, it was great, Peter."
"Can I walk you home?" Peter pursed his lips, waiting for an answer.
You nodded and thanked him graciously with another kiss. With that, you two set off toward your apartment as the street lights flickered on in the chilled air.
___
"...And then we kissed. Boom! In your face!"
MJ rolled her eyes and laughed while Ned clapped Peter on the back.
"Dude! You got a girlfriend!"
Peter chuckled at Ned's enthusiasm. Peter's phone dinged at that moment. It was a text from you.
"Gotta go, guys. Peter has a second date today with Y/N."
"Did you just refer to yourself in the third person?"
"Yep, deal with it!" Peter called, already out the door of the cafe.
___
You were waiting at the subway station. Peter jogged down the stairs, joining you to enter the train and go ice skating.
You reached your hand out, Peter taking it as you two entered the train.
It was only the second date, but you knew Peter was going to make you happy. You simply looked up at Peter, smiling, which he returned with his signature grin.
The train's doors shut, and you two were carried away down the tracks, ready for what was to come.

Peter had a tendency to grab souveneers from Stark Inductries, and that was fine. Tony pretended not to notice when the boy smuggled cool little pieces of tech from the lab, trusting the boy to be responsible with them. Tony also never asked for his sweaters back if Peter borrowed them, and turned a blind eye to the missing blanket in Peter’s tower bedroom or the way food tended to disappear from the pantries.
Tony wasn’t lacking for resources in the slightest, and any move to make sure the boy was warm and fed would be worth the effort, even if that move is letting the boy engage in small amounts of the overt in a safe enviroment.
What Tony didn’t know was that some of those hoodies and pieces of tech didn’t stay with Peter. Some of them made their way to his friends.
After a long year of college applications, MJ starts to wonder exactly why she has so much Stark Industries merch, considering she doesn’t like the man. It seems especially odd that some of it seems to be… very high level. Because, on the tag…that can’t be Tony Starks signature. Right?
Across town, Ned Leeds starts cleaning his room and finds what is unmistakably a functioning web-shooter.
