I just recently saw some asks you were given about Chloé Burgeois and they made me curious. I know that you like her earlier portrayal, but what do you think of her in later seasons? Personally, I have come to at least appreciate what I think the show was trying to do, execution aside. Chloe was like Ramses in the prince of Egypt: Just because they had sympathetic traits and backstory doesn't mean that they would get better. They doubled down at almost every opportunity until it was too late.

I can kinda see where they might have been going with that, it just doesn't work so well with Chloe, because well, Chloe's a kid, not an adult, and the ones who ultimately enabled or abused her, her parents, got lesser "punishments" than she did.

I've seen the kind of storyline you're talking about work, specifically with Simon from Infinity Train. But in that case, there hadn't been any higher authority figure guiding or enabling his actions for a very long time, he'd BEEN the highest authority figure around for years now, so there wasn't really anyone else who could be blamed for sending Simon down the path he was on, or for not stopping him from going down that path (Grace was about his age and had about the same amount of power as him). Also, notably, Simon was 18, so he was technically an adult at the point when he went off the deep end.

So yeah. That kind of storyline CAN work and be very compelling (hell from what I know of it, that's Walter White's storyline in Breaking Bad), but with the specific circumstances set up for Chloe in Miraculous, the execution doesn't work.

This is such a crazy freaking post to me.

Like, I hate Astruc's writing and the writing of his team, but for all their faults "giving a villain they disliked unsatasfactory treatment by the narrative" is like something they didn't do 4 times out of 5? Like, no Astruc does "build on the potential" of the main villain and his name is Gabriel and I hate him and he ironically shares more in common wity Belos then Belos shares with Chloe!

Also, Chloe shouldn't be a villain in the first place.

You know, it's just endlessly amusing to me, that people who are so invested in shows like ML and Supernatural and such this will think that because they live and breathe for the show, everyone else who interacts with it is in the same boat, even when they're an anon like this claiming they don't like it (so why are you sending anons about it then ,hm?

I enjoy the characters, I enjoy what the show could have been, and I enjoy interacting with the other people in fandom who aren't going to let the show's rampaging bigotry run unchecked.

I'd love to love miraculous ladybug, but at this point it brings me nothing but amusement at just how bad it is lol. Occasionally watching a 20 minute episode of ML instead of The Twilight Zone or Outer Rim or Tales From The DarkSide or Moon Knight or Star Wars or random YouTube gardening videos is not me "obsessively watching something I hate".

Hey, Jacques, have you ever heard of Phineas and Ferb? While I quite like the show (because it's ridiculous), I'm not too sure on Linda's character, I mean, she's treated as this awesome parent (which she usually is), but her treatment of Candace makes her look... oblivious? Not in a bad way, I'm pretty sure that she'd be proud of her kids for their inventions, but if she really thinks that Candace is telling lies about her brothers inventions (because she's conventionally never there to see them), shouldn't she at least TALK with her about it?

She doesn't even need to get the boys a simple grounding, just acknowledge Candace being right, she herself doesn't actually want them grounded, just recognized. It's not even that hard, "hey, Candace, I'm actually aware of the inventions, it's just that I want to see them being creative, I'm sorry for treating you like a madman (albeit, she IS one at times)"

Boom, resolved.

I know of and enjoyed P&F (in fact I’ve used it as an example of a good episodic cartoon when criticizing how ML handles it) but it’s the type of show I prefer to enjoy without the crit brain on. Not that people can’t criticize it, but it’s not how I get the most enjoyment out of it.

Having gotten that out of the way, wasn’t there an ep where she briefly found out the truth and then it got immediately undone?

My Cycling Journal – Apr 2022

This month marks my 365 consecutive days of cycling covers distance over 14,000KM in Singapore. Similar milage with my entire 2021 ride, which is around 15,000KM. If not due to road accident on last month, should be able to hit that 15,000KM as well. I faced numerous challenges to complete it ranging from weather till accident and injuries. But I guess that we just need full determination to complete it regardless the hurdles. When it is heavy rain, then I cycled around multi-story car park for 5KM. When having knee injury, I just ride slower and shorter distance. Even when get one day hospitalized due to road accident, I rode straightaway to nearby police station to make a police report for the accident. In fact, I have my rear derailleur hanger broke on my 365th cycling day, which due to road accident. When there is a will, there is a way, isn’t it?

During this period, I completed my longest ride of 300KM, joined crit race event as well as duathlon race. In Apr 2021, my VO2Max is 37ML/KG/MIN and reached 61ML/KG/MIN on 16th Mar 2022 before it dropped to 53 ML/KG/MIN by end of Apr 2022 since cannot have strenuous exercise for over 1 month due to head injury as part of the road accident happened on 16th Mar 2022 night.

Having said that, there are numerous benefits that I have gained from this daily cycling such as getting fitter, healthier, and stronger which was proven by my health screening reports and exercise stress treadmill test happen on last month. You can see the transformation from year 2018 – 2022 in below table.

After completing this achievement, I guess I would want to continue to hit with 500th consecutive days of ride. To support that, I get myself a Wahoo Kickr Rollr where I can do indoor cycling whenever it is needed. Although it is not as fun as outdoor cycling, I believe that indoor cycling allows to strengthen my legs given its ability to increase the resistance up to 1,500W with its ERG mode. In fact, I reached my new FTP on my 2nd and 3rd rides it. Also feel more tiring and more sweating with indoor cycling as it is non-stop cycling for me.

This going to be my final monthly cycling journal. Moving forward, I will post as and when it has happened.

Look at this five ML Asian women. Every single one has blue hair. Fei's the darkest and it is very subtle, and Kagami's sometimes turquoise. But you get the point. Four of them have side swept bangs, with the three teenagers having them in the same direction. Tomoe's hair is the most unique. Kagami's hair and Sabine's are almost the same. Fei's hair and Marinette's hair look very similar, especially considering these prototypes of Marinette:

The three teenagers ALL have a red color scheme when transformed. Ladybug, Ryuko and Renren. Which is... eh, considering they seem to be trying to repeat as few theme colors as possible.

Oh, and the three of them are related to dragons. Marinette has a fusion with the Dragon, Kagami had the Dragon Miraculous and Fei currently has the Prodigious, her most powerful form being a Dragon and Renren being advertised as Ladydragon.

Sooo. Yeah. Boys get to have distinct designs. Girls, and especially Asian girls, don't. How very.

Now you get why people are upset Fei is sooo similar to prototype Marinette. She screams prototype Marinette. And in general it's weird how the ML staff seem to dislike natural hair colors for Asian women. Asian men get to have actual black hair. Even Marc has totally black hair! And it's weird too seeing that they tend to have similar designs and similar color scheme and similar animals and- sigh.

where did the miraculous come from?

why are they animal themed?

why do some of the miraculous function like ‘evil’?

have there been other miraculous holders with prominent places in society? (like to be noted in historical documents)

why do the miraculous exist?

how does miraculous magic affect people/the environment around them?

why is the miracle box zodiac themed?

why is there a section of the miracle box dedicated to stuff like the butterfly, peacock, fox, turtle, bee, black cat and ladybug?

what is the symbolism of the ladybug and black cat? are they good/bad luck or are they creation/destruction? are they both? why are they both? what’s the link between them?

what’s with the obsession of yin and yang symbolism?

what is a guardian?

why is there an order of the guardians?

why are the kwami attached to the miraculous?

why can the kwami be stripped of their free will?

how does the miracle box plane work?

why do adult miraculous holders not have timers?

we are....3 seasons, 1 movie and 5 years into this show and well. you guys tell me. how many of these questions have been answered? how much thought has been put into this world that i can’t even comb through the show to write my own meta.

when you build a world, evidence of the rules guiding the world will show up in universe. you don’t need to go on great long expository rants to explain why the world is like it is.

at this point any world-building i hear about i’m gonna assume is someone’s headcanon because these writers have butchered the concept of miraculous to the point that i’m only in this fandom out of spite.

While the special was good with love square and such, what they did with Aeon managed to ruin everything for me. The black girl was a robot created by a white woman to "help people", as Uncanny valley they lightened her skin so much that if wasn't for the hair she would be pass as white and she also kinda fits on the magical negro trope cuz most of his role in the special involves the development of a white boy (adr/ien). It's so frustrating to watch it hopping to have a good time just to be hit by something like that.

What made you give up on Ladybug? The Love Square not going anywhere? Just curious.

I wrote a post about it like a couple months back but I have some updated points. 

1. Thomas - Some his remarks towards some fans who ask questions on his twitter are not nice. Especially when some of them brings up very good criticism of the show. Some people can be entitle assholes but some actually care about the show. 

2. Jeremy- Lawd have mercy! He can’t hold water for shit. At this point, he probably show the whole reveal episode at a con.. ( if they ever get to a reveal) It’s ok to excited for the show and trying to promote it but showing freaking concept art that is pretty much spoil's  plot points to the show without consulting with the creator first? Yeah..  Also it’s like he wants to run before he walks ( aka the canceled live action movie) 

3. Time to watch - At this point I only watched like the first 4 episodes of season two since i have been busy working and have little to desire to finish and go season 3. I just go into the tags to see what the episode was about that was trending and be on my merry little way. It doesn’t excite me anymore like season one did. Also the ML salt tag keeps me up to date with it as well. 

4. Plot? Plot What Plot?- I mean it’s on it’s third damn season and it’s feel like it’s no where a reveal and no way near revealing what is actually wrong with Mama Ageste.. Also are we going to have Hawk Moth be the villain for all the damn seasons? I don’t like the episodic nature the show has with this “ the episodes have the no order but it do have a order” bullshit… You can’t build a decent story arc with that formula if you got to piece the development to together. When the majority of each seasons could be considers as filler with only the premier and seasons finales be considered as plot progression….It’s hard to see development when you can’t tell if the events in one Episode that shows development is either before or after the events in a another episode. The Villain of the day model doesn’t work for this show at all. 

5. The Love Square- Oh boy! I though Mari and Adrien was about to be on the same level with Usagi and Mamoru( which is like the God-Tier of Anime/ Animation couples)  but shit…. 

They are not even on Bella and Edward level….. 

Are we getting any closer to a reveal or even a changing of feelings between those two? When Adrien finally sees Mari more than a friend and Mari sees CN more than a friend as well? 

Can Adrien as Chat Noir please stop getting a prissy fit  and don’t want to act like a team player every time Ladybug declines his advantages by saying she’s in love with someone else? Ladybug cares about you as a friend like you care about Mari as one. Stop getting mad at her for rejecting you nicely.

Can Adrien as Chat Noir finally gets called on his jealous and bratty behavior when comes to Ladybug as well? 

Can Mari gets a damn break? This girl ALWAYS realizes her fuck -ups and try to correct them but Adrien gets a freaking past because of his home life. No It doesn’t work that way. I like Adrien but it’s getting kind of tiresome that the violin is away playing for him to point that it’s becoming the world’s smallest violin.Mari as LB sometimes have the carry the whole damn weight of saving Paris cause CN still don’t understand the concept them actually being co-workers and them working on a professional level..

Can Mari please realized that Adrien aint all that? He’s cute but he can be oblivious as hell. At this point I think she’s going to figure out he’s CN but he found out she’s LB which is going to be in 50 years time… 

It just feel like a freaking ship at sea that is trying to move but the captain forgot that he has the anchor down but keep telling the passages that it’s full stream ahead…. Thomas is that captain and the passengers are the fandom. 

It has it’s moments but they feel like they are not going anywhere towards making the ship endgame whenever that time may come. 

I mean we just finally got to point at the end of season 2 where she had the  courage enough to kiss on him on the cheek? That should feel like a momentous occasion but it felt like it took 50 years to get to that point?  It’s going take another 50 for the reveal and then another 50 for them to realized their feelings for the other??? Then another 50 for them to actually date? 

Seesh! We may finally get Stars season animated for Crystal by that time! 

It’s called a slow burn not a freaking snail trail…

6. The fandom( Not the ML Salt fandom who is bringing up excellent criticism)  I’m tried of the slamming Mari gets for even breathing wrong while they act like Adrien can’t do no wrong. Thomas saying that Adrien is perfect plays into their hands cause they already think he’s the perfect sunshine child. Mari have to deal with HM’s CNs, Chole, Lila’s her friends (sometimes ) bullshit and it’s not fair that if she even breathes wrong she gets criticized. She’s a 14 year old girl who not only navigate through school and a crush, add on trying to save the damn city of Paris on it.  Mari needs to take a trip to Japan and talk to Usagi… 

I can talk about all the other characters but I’ll be here all day.

I know this is a show for the younger kids( so not directly for me) but kids are not that damn stupid. Kids can handle substance which those show started off seems like having but it falling flat.  

It’s straight up lost it’s appeal to me and they need to do somethings before others lose it as well. 

One more thing

CAN EVERY NEW FEMALE CHARACTER THAT GOES TO THAT SCHOOL NOT BE A ROMANTIC RIVAL FOR MARI? SEESH! ADRIEN IS NOT THE ONLY BOY THAT GOES TO SCHOOL AND SHE HAS MORE INTEREST IN ( cough Fashion) THAT THEY CAN USE FOR HER TO HAVE A RIVAL!

The fact that Heroes of Olympus AND Miraculous Ladybug both have their two main woc having eurocentric features despite it making no fucking sense(Aphrodite was never described with kaliedoscope eyes,Pluto was literally described as having dark eyes,neither of Marinette's parents have blue eyes and Alya is fully black)and the woc who gets added onto the main cast later on DOES have non-white features but is rejected by her white boy love interest in favor of one of the aformentioned girls...why can't white men be fucking normal
