Same anon who just asked about why you placed Adrien as a 7 instead of a 2, only to look deeper in the reblogs of your ML enneagram post and see you already answered it haha!
In friendly defense of 2!Adrien, I’d argue that his reactions to being stressed coming off as more of a 7 rather than a 2 is actually a perfect reflection of the effects of his abuse; it’s fear that drives his non-confrontation tendencies rather his own nature. I think Risk highlighted that a bit in revealing how Adrien does desire confrontation, even if he doesn’t act on it.
(I have always found it interesting to consider the role that trauma/neurodivergency plays in shaping a character’s personality, since it’s one of the flaws I feel most personality assessments can’t really account for.)
I also think Chat’s arguments with LB were more like to be confrontational than avoidant (thinking of the times he’s called her out and his romantic pursuit being the primary indicators), up until she became the Guardian. So then with S4, I’d consider it to be a gradual relationship shift that leads to Chat no longer feeling safe and secure enough in his position to confront her the way he once did, which is why he only tries a bit in Kuro Neko before running, and then doesn’t try at all in Strikeback.
I hope this doesn’t come off as too preachy or anything, just wanted to share my 2¢! Cause either way you slice it, your Adrien has always been brilliantly written and incredibly in-character to me, so you’ve clearly got a rock solid understanding of his character. ❤️
hello november anon and sorry for the delay! thank you so much for the ask and also for going back and looking through my prev posts. you know my teacher heart loves it when you do the readings! 😌 also you're definitely not the only one who believes adrien is a 2 rather than a 7! and while i know there are good arguments for both sides, i'll explain in depth my position on adrien's personality.
part 1 of the ask:
Tumblr media
so here are the reasons i think adrien IS an enneagram type 7
adrien's motivation seems like that of a 7 to me: he wants to experience everything and be satisfied in every way he can. if he had a disney princess "i want" song, it would be "i want to go to school, i want to make friends, i want adventure in the great wide somewhere., i want to have fun."
the literal first shot of him in the show (if we use origins as a starting point) is adrien running away. nathalie asks him to please reconsider, he knows what his father wants, and adrien says, "but this is what i want to do." according to the enneagram institute, "sevens do not see themselves as the center of a community or family, but as members of a free-floating band of fellow adventurers whose own enjoyment is enhanced by being with others." going to school and having a new experience with new people is what's going to enhance adrien's enjoyment of life - not being the center of his family unit or the apple of his father's eye.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a 2's motivation would be to be as loved as possible and to make themselves neeed by those they most care about. while adrien definitely shows a desire to be loved and needed, especially by ladybug, i think his primary desire is for experience, and it's this from which all his actions- not just characteristics - are based. take for example his reaction to getting his miraculous vs marinette's (also in origins):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
adrien is excited and intrigued and ready to go, as a 7 would be when offered a new experience - and a new way to satisfy their desire to try everything. marinette, as a 1, is quite the opposite: she is being put in a situation where she must do something right or fail, and therefore is stressed tf out. while marinette's motivation to be good/perfect fuels her anxious reaction, adrien's motivation to experience everything and be satisfied fuels his thrilled and slightly reckless reaction. that's why he charges out into battle without listening to all the instructions; his motivation was to escape the restraints of his life and try something new.
in growth, enneagram 7's take on the positive traits of 5's. in stress, they take on the negative traits of 1's. i have seen adrien exhibit these behaviors throughout the show on many occasions!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
according to the enneagram institute, "Sevens have fear about their inner world. There are feelings of pain, loss, deprivation, and general anxiety that Sevens would like to stay clear of as much as possible. To cope with these feelings, Sevens keep their minds occupied with exciting possibilities and options— as long as they have something stimulating to anticipate, Sevens feel that they can distract themselves from their fears." therefore, while one can argue that adrien's wealth of knowledge and fun facts is a result of everything gabriel has forced him to learn (mandarin, piano, fencing, medieval horse colors), we can assume he at least was interested in it - and that seeking new knowledge like a 5 kept him from lingering in his sadness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"i'll help you learn mandarin marinette" "i'll show you how to fence marinette" "most people think henry iv's white horse was white my lady" "do you need subtitles my lady i speak several languages"
now as to how adrien moves to the low parts of type 1 during the show: i think the main examples of this are the instances he adopts rigid, critical, and judgemental characteristics, which is potentially unpleasant for anyone who has to be around him.
first up, adrien's akumatized forms: chat blanc, ephemeral, celesticat
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i bring up the akumas because, though adrien isn't in his right mind (by hawkmoth's akumas), they are examples of adrien being in extreme stress.
as chat blanc, adrien wants to either right the world or destroy it for being wrong - the critical supreme judgement an unhealthy 1 is capable of. he lashes out when contradicted, and is quite ruthless even to marinette, who he loves, in the name of executing judgement.
as ephemeral, adrien seeks to control time. (however, this is probably the weakest example because adrien was being amok-controlled in this instance and was acting on shadow moth's will, not his own.)
i include celesticat because while this is an example of a "good" akumatization, adrien was still under so much stress that an akumatization was able to take place. yet even while being in "good" stress, adrien still shows characteristics of 1: perfectionism, righteousness, taking control of the situation. he literally turns into a pure white angelic being, an embodiment of perfection. it's what he believes he has to do in order to salvage the situation. it's one of the more healthier moves from 7 to 1 i have seen depicted in media and is entirely plausible concept under the enneagram's theory! this just goes to show the depth and richness of his character.
next, we will discuss adrien's various alter egos:
cat walker
Tumblr media
i've said it before and i'll say it again; cat walker is another move from 7 -> 1.
as chat noir, adrien is at the height of his 7-ness. he enjoys the freedom that his miraculous powers and secret identity gives him, and uses it as a means of escape from the regular constraints of his life and obligations. then in kuro neko when ladybug slights him, she denies him the fulfilment and satisfaction in reaching his full potential as chat noir (e.g., being of equal importance on the team as her) that he should be allowed. of course he becomes hurt and angry! she's stepping on his core desire in life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
according to enneagram coach dr. tom lahue (my favorite enneagram guy ((also a 7)), "type 7's typically deal with anger by trying to avoid it or deflect it. that really is the anger type of a 7 - deflective. deflecting things away." that's what i believe cat walker is: a stress reaction, a deflection of his anger with ladybug. he deflects his painful emotions into something he thinks is positive; a new start.
Tumblr media
adrien is usually so joyful and optimistic, but this was a huge blow for him. dr. tom says the best way for a 7 to handle this anger is to be "real and genuine" when coming to terms with it, what does adrien do instead? he turns to a new alter ego. he chases the experience of fulfillment, only he does so by adopting a persona who is serious and perfectionist. obviously this was neither what adrien or ladybug needed, and that is because cat walker is a stress reaction who adrien cannot sustain without continued levels of unhealthy self-denial. this is the hardest he has gone to 1 in the show and what it took to snap him out of it was a level of reflection, analysis, and objectivity (that this was an unhealthy behavior) indicative of a type 5 - and which shows his progression to growth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. aspik
Tumblr media
one can argue that aspik is more proof of adrien being a 2 than a 7 actually, as his motivations for becoming aspik were to woo ladybug. however, the stress response of a type 2 is to move to the negative qualities of type 8, which is to lash out at those who they believe have taken them for granted.
according to the enneagram institute,
"Average to unhealthy Twos seek validation of their worth by obeying their superego’s demands to sacrifice themselves for others. They believe they must always put others first and be loving and unselfish if they want to get love. The problem is that “putting others first” makes Twos secretly angry and resentful, feelings they work hard to repress or deny. Nevertheless, they eventually erupt in various ways, disrupting Twos’ relationships and revealing the inauthenticity of many of the average to unhealthy Two’s claims about themselves and the depth of their “love.”
as aspik, adrien was never resentful of ladybug for taking him for granted or making him feel rejected. as aspik, his goal was never to make himself needed by her. as aspik, he maintained some extreme levels of optimism that ignored the rational conclusion that he should give up for several thousand time loops. as aspik, he was able to let go and displace his hopes in himself to someone else - and run off to his responsibility as chat noir with high spirits (though i'm sure the ladrien kiss helped)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. griffe noire
Tumblr media
this has got to be the most stressful stress reaction i've seen on adrien. and you might say "but wackus he looks nothing like a type 1" and i say "JUST HOLD ON
going back to dr. tom's analysis on type 7's in anger, he says, "7's typically express their anger indirectly, e.g., through sarcasm, like 5's - like 6's sometimes... but they quickly try to move on and reframe into a more positive way." griffe noire, rather than telling jokes and puns to lighten the mood, mocks and ridicules poor toxinelle who has not convinced me she doesn't have a crush on him. 1's actually do the same thing when they are unhealthy; they criticize and blame and nag others for not being up to par, and by directing his anger at his situation onto toxinelle, griffe noire is doing the same.
Tumblr media
dr tom goes on to say, "in some cases [7's] might take impulsive actions to try to free themselves from this feeling of being trapped... engaging in frenetic escapism in behaviors or addictions or substances to try to distance themselves from those who are frustrated with them... or their own anger/pain in life." we have seen griffe noire engage in multiple frenetic behaviors while running amok (haha), all of which are clearly attempts to redirect his pain and anger/ keep it from consuming him. for example, griffe noire takes chat noir's cataclysm to the chest as though it's a game. for another, he openly threatens to destroy the entire world with his super cataclysm. and of course, he is constantly abusing his miraculous by over-exerting his powers in a way only adults should. yet all of these destructive behaviors are still adrien's way of escaping his normal life, and his everyday pain. it's almost like his self-destruction is his addiction.
Tumblr media
and yet by the end, it took the introspection of type 5 for griffe noire to realize that his behavior was unhealthy. he observed, he listened, he showed an inquisitiveness that brought him back from the brink. and he also upgraded his outfit so if that isn't a type 7 path to growth i don't know what is!
Tumblr media
now i know i won't have convinced everybody, so i just want to drop this section from the enneagram institute's text on misidentifying 2's and 7's:
Although both types are gregarious and enjoy being with people, their interpersonal styles are noticeably different. The Two... would like to be the heart and soul of a family or community, the best friend or confidant everyone comes to for attention, advice, and approval. Twos want to be significant to others and on intimate terms with them, although sometimes they go too far, meddling too much and being too solicitous to make sure they are needed.
adrien is not focused on being needed by anybody, not even ladybug (although due to his romantic interest in her, i can understand why people think so). being the heart and soul of the team is not what motivates him; primarily, i think he just likes having all the experiences he wouldn't otherwise get to have without being chat noir.
By contrast... Sevens do not see themselves as the center of a community or family, but as members of a free-floating band of fellow adventurers whose own enjoyment is enhanced by being with others.... Sevens may thus exhibit a certain generosity, although their motives may well have less to do with helping needier friends than with making sure that they themselves have a good time by having others around.
this isn't to say that adrien is just focused on having a "good time." i see that his enjoyment is amplified when he is surrounded by people he loves and cares for. he is motivated to have good experiences, and be fulfilled by trying everything, and becoming close to people and forming loving relationships is just a happy byproduct of that.
now there ARE several caveats to my analysis which provide potential arguments against typing adrien as a 7 - and which i can touch on briefly before i close:
adrien's abuse: i understand that trauma and anxiety can affect personality deeply. i'm not qualified to speak on this, or on how it should or shouldn't affect any personality type. i can only say that i think adrien has acted pretty consistently under stress as far as the show depicts
inconsistent characterization: i think we can all agree that ml won't be winning any awards for its consistency in characterization. which i know sounds contradictory to what i just said about how it depicts adrien under stress, but i think there IS a lot of discrepancy in this show and over the course of 9 years with different teams of writers all trying to execute one person's vision, inconsistencies are bound to happen.
thank you again for the ask, anon, and thank YOU if you have read all the way through! tell me your thoughts, if you make it down here - whether you agree/disagree or are just nodding along and letting me indulge in my enneagram brainrot! this is an entirely in-good-faith interpretation of mine, and i'd love to see other opinions if you have them!

Marinette: I fell in love with Adrien because he was so charming when he gave me that umbrella in the pouring rain and I knew he is a good person who cares about other people and he was so pretty and sweet and it was so romantic and I knew he's nothing like I thought.
Adrien: I fell in love with Ladybug because she told Hawk Moth to f*ck off and then she kicked the akuma's butt and it was so cool!

watching origins again made me appreciate chat noir not belittling ladybug when she explains she's clumsy after accidentally hitting him with her yo-yo, because he's learning the ropes, too.

Best part of the Miraculous movie was that it inspired me to rewatch Origins. Give me:
Marinette having such a sappy sweet relationship with her dad. Proud to hand out the macarons he made and him to showcase her designs. Adrien choosing to help an old man without a second’s hesitation even though it means giving up what he wanted to do. Dual scenes of Marinette and Adrien meeting their kwamis. Plagg being a little menace and Marinette flipping out at "bug mouse!". Tikki being considerate and gentle in her approach. LadyNoir meeting in such a chaotic way but it's all just so sweet and I already love them and buy into their dynamic fully. Cat Noir being so understanding and kind directly after she causes both his staff and her yoyo to come down on his head. Ladybug choosing for herself to fight the akuma even though she's afraid. Cat Noir calling for his partner's help. Asking what she thinks they should do. Ladybug coming up with an incredibly convoluted plan that somehow works. Cat Noir being enamored by her for it. A first Pound it where both acknowledge they’re partners. Nino befriending Adrien because he realizes there's more to him than "rich model boy" Marinette not even recognizing Adrien despite Gabriel Agreste being her favorite designer. Marinette becoming Ladybug again to save Alya. Cat Noir's innocent punny flirtations. Cat Noir pep talking Ladybug as her doubt and fear of failure get to her. Giving her the courage to stand up to Hawk Moth. Letting everyone in Paris know that Ladybug and Cat Noir will protect them. Cat Noir looking up at her in awe. Proclaiming he loves that girl behind the mask. Adrien showing Marinette his sincere and kind self. The reason she falls for him. His innocent laugh when the umbrella closes in on her. "She's just a friend" as he's overjoyed by the thought.

The Scars War Leaves Behind
Chapter 2
AO3 is Linked in Bio
~
When he was a boy, Simon had loved comics. Knightowl had been his favoritehe'd related, in a lot of ways, to Sparrow, and he'd been inspired by the Dynamic Duo's insistence on doing the right thing, even in the face of overwhelming odds. Before Hawkmoth, Monarch, reading about the adventures of those superpowered Americans, how evil always lost and problems were always solved and villains always defeated, had been calming, inspiring—until Hawkmoth had terrorized Paris for half a decade without any sign of getting caught.
But before that, he'd read one comic that had been very... different. Darker, full of failure and loss, of broken heroes who sacrificed everything to win, and sometimes the wins weren't even worth it. Violent, bloody, desperate. He probably shouldn't have had his hands on it, not at that age, but he'd been fascinated. Horrified, but fascinated. And there had been some elements that had stuck out to him, that he remembers even to this day.
In the first chapter of the comic, there'd been an old joke about a therapist and a clown. He knows there’s an earlier version of the joke, but the one from the comic is the one he remembers:
A man goes to a therapist about his depression. He tells his therapist that life seems harsh and cruel, that he feels all alone in a threatening world, that what lies ahead is vague and uncertain.
The therapist thinks for a bit, then tells him, "I have an idea for you. The great clown Grimaldi is in town tonight. You should go and see him—that should pick you up!"
The patient bursts into tears. "But Doctor," he sobs, "I am Grimaldi!"
Looking at Mademoiselle Dupain-Cheng—at Ladybug—the joke seems a lot less funny. With a lot of his patients, he frequently recommends calming their flashbacks or their panic attacks by imagining their fear as an Akuma and then visualizing themselves as Ladybug or Chat Noir, invincible, unstoppable, powerful enough to take on anything. It helps a lot of them—his whole generation grew up idolizing Ladybug, believing in her, looking up to her as the ultimate hero.
It doesn’t take a genius psychiatrist to recognize that, with this patient, that approach would only trigger her worse. One look in those haunted eyes and he knows, Ladybug is a trigger. Akuma aren’t something easily conquered, not to her—they’re fear and responsibility and pain and panic. Now that he’s looking for it, it’s pretty obvious that her glances around the room at his various superhero pictures and collectibles aren’t grounding her, they’re agitating her. And he’s not entirely sure what to do with that.
So he does the only thing he can.
”Start from the beginning,” he says, leaning forward and steepling his fingers.
Mademoiselle Dupain-Cheng takes a deep, steadying breath, pulling her legs onto the chaise and crossing them under herself. “When I was 13,” she says, shrinking into herself, “I was late for my first day of school.”
Hearing that feels like queuing up for the bathroom at the back of an airplane and then suddenly getting hit by a train. It’s such a mundane thing to say, such an average, run-of-the-mill problem, he’d never have expected that to be the start of it. He’d figured it would be something bigger, something momentous, some moment where she’d found a secret cave behind a waterfall or met a wise old mentor who bestowed upon her the magic jewels. Not something as simple, as prosaic, as being late for school.
But if there’s one thing Simon has learned from this work, it’s that it’s the small things that stick in someone’s mind sometimes. And if something like that stuck… it would be because it was part of something very big. And sometimes starting small, starting with the mundane, is how his patients ease themselves into talking about the big, damaging stuff.
The way she tugs on her own fingers, not looking up at him, but staring resolutely at the Ladybug-red carpet—he'll have to do something about that for her visits, that's probably not a good color for her—only reinforces his assumption.
"I lived in my parents’ bakery, back then,” she continues. “It was right across the street from the school, but I was a chronic oversleeper.”
That’s another unexpected detail to file away about Ladybug, then. Not a morning person, probably very tired. More tired than she ever let on to the public. Even without the Akuma to keep her awake some nights.
”I was running across the street, and…" Her voice starts to grow more ragged as she speaks. "This... little old man." Her hands go completely still at the mention of this person. "He dropped his cane and fell, in the middle of the crosswalk. There were cars coming.”
Simon's stomach drops, knocking him back in his chair. The way she's speaking, the way she's moving, something clearly happened to this old man, something she's still dwelling on to this day. He remembers, in the comics he loved, how frequently the superhero would have some kind of tragedy in their backstory, some trauma that drove them. Did Mme. Dupain-Cheng watch this man get hit by a car? He knows full well the kind of effect something that violent would have on a 13-year-old—he's seen the haunted looks in patients who'd had to watch their parents or friends or siblings die, only to be magically brought back again. But this accident would be pre-Ladybug. Pre-cure.
Simon's mind spins, thinking about possibilities. Maybe this man been carrying the magic jewels, the Miraculous, and they'd spilled across the street for anyone to grab. Was that how Ladybug had gotten hers? Was that how Hawkmoth had gotten his?
"I ran back to help him up," she says, and Simon feels the tension in his shoulders release. Not that, then. Not the worst-case. Still, though, something bad happened to this man, something she still hasn't processed.
She brushes a bit of hair out of her face, still staring at the floor. "Apparently, that was the test!" she says—she's laughing, but there's no humor in it. "He purposely fell down in the street, and... whoever stopped to pick him up..."
It's not hard to notice her word choice. Whoever, she said. Implying that she felt like it could've been anyone. Implying two very different statements: I'm not special, and Why did it have to be me?
Then her face softens. "Adrien had a similar test, apparently," she says, and for the first time since she revealed her identity, she finally looks up and meets his eyes. "Master Fu fell down in front of him, too. He had to choose between his own freedom, or helping a stranger."
"Freedom?" That’s a concerning word, especially if this Adrien was the same or similar age to her when it happened.
"His dad..." She stops, starts picking at her fingers again. Her gaze shoots to the left, at the picture of the victorious super team taken less than an hour after Monarch’s arrest. "His... his father..."
"You don't need to tell me anything you don't want to," Simon tells her, gently.
Marinette swallows, tearing her eyes away from the picture and back to Simon’s sweater. "...Okay."
"Adrien." Circling back to that. Talking about Adrien is the most comfortable, the happiest, he's seen her since she entered his office, and he wants her to be at ease. "This would be... Chat Noir?"
Marinette nods. "I think Fu was testing whether Adrien would use his power selfishly, or whether he'd put others first." She purses her lips. "I... my test was... it was so simple, in comparison. I don't even know what it was for."
Translation: I don’t know why I deserved to be Ladybug over anyone else. He suspects she does know, or at least did at one point, but it’s been buried under so much pain that she can’t retrieve the memory. But he does have a suspicion.
"How close were the cars?" he says.
Marinette blinks, startled. "I, um." She swallows, uncrossing her legs and pressing her feet down into the plush if the carpet. "I don't know."
Simon nods. He wouldn’t expect her to, but he’s willing to bet that there had to be at least some danger. "Maybe this... Master Fu?"
Marinette nods.
"Maybe Master Fu was testing to see if you'd put yourself in danger to save someone else."
As soon as he says it, he can see in her face that it's absolutely the wrong thing to have said. All of the shaky, nervous, extraneous movements suddenly stop; her face turns ashen as her eyes sink further into her head. He knows she's not in his office anymore—she's somewhere far away, somewhere dark and painful, and the hitch in her breath is the only way he can tell she's still alive.
"Mademoiselle?" he ventures, hesitant. He's tripped over a trigger, and he's uncertain as to how to proceed until he knows what it is.
"If—" she begins, then halts. Closes her eyes, tears squeezing out from the corners of her eyes. "If... if I'm the one who's supposed to be in danger..."
Simon's eyes widen as he straightens in his chair. Oh. Oh no. Oh no, he knows where this is going, this was just supposed to be a gentle introduction to—
"He... he k-keeps..." Marinette sobs, before slamming her fist into the couch's armrest, her voice rising to a tear-filled, grief-stricken scream. "S-s-stupid fucking bastard cat won't! Fucking! Stop! Goddamn! Dying!"

Ladybug’s feelings for Cat Noir
Tumblr media
I’ve touched on some stuff that I’m talking about in this post, but this whole topic deserves its own analysis. So here we go!
Ladybug has done some…not-so-great things to Cat Noir. Throwing him in the trash, pushing him away, saying she doesn’t need him, telling him she likes another boy (over and over). Yea, it’s not okay and shouldn’t be tolerated, but there’s reasoning behind it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s easy to think “wow, she couldn’t care less about Cat Noir. Look at that behavior.” But, this is what the show wants the audience to initially think. It doesn’t make sense she’d act the way she does towards a great partner, but it’s a lot of denial and not knowing how to properly cope with it.
Marinette shows in Gang of Secrets that she pushes away people she loves when she’s stressed. She tried pushing away her group of friends, her boyfriend, and her partner - Cat Noir. Her way of coping with her own stress is pushing people away and trying to figure things out for herself.
Tumblr media
Out of all of them, she pushed away Cat Noir the most. But he loves her too much to blow his top off on her and also tries to handle his feelings alone. It’s sad.
Let’s think of this for a moment. Why did she push Cat Noir away the most?
Well, she cares about him. However, it was shown to her through her break up with Luka and the numerous times she’s tried to have a reveal with Cat Noir that “it’s not meant to be.” There’s this constant narrative that Marinette can’t have a functioning relationship because something blows out of proportion every time. She’s been particularly traumatized the most after her sweet, loving partner blew up the entire earth after their relationship.
Not only is there that, but she hasn’t gotten over Adrien, and we really can’t expect her to. The feelings have died down after she realized it’s going to be difficult to try and have a relationship with him. But, they’re still lingering.
And the fact of the matter is that she’s still learning about pieces of Adrien. Like, she’s just learning now that he doesn’t enjoy his life as a model and the way his father treats him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Marinette has a bit of an idea that Cat Noir doesn’t have it easy, but she still doesn’t know enough to associate Adrien and Cat Noir as being the same person. Marinette is the type who would need more evidence and would need more time to piece together that Adrien = Cat Noir.
It’s not the same for Adrien because he sees things very straight-forward. Both “what ifs” we’ve seen involved Adrien coming to the conclusion quickly that Marinette = Ladybug. He noticed similar traits in Marinette, so it wasn’t hard for him to see them as the same person.
Tumblr media
Anyhow, in attempts to push down any feelings for Cat Noir, Ladybug tosses him aside and downright treats him like garbage if he tries to pull a move. It’s sad that she does, because if she learned more about this boy, she’d be fully understanding and know he’s not trying to pressure her into anything.
Cat Noir cares about Ladybug so deeply. He can’t stay mad at her and he’ll sacrifice his own sadness to make sure she doesn’t have an extra weight on her shoulders.
Now, how can we judge Ladybug does in fact care about Cat Noir? Take notice as to how it wasn’t until season 4 that she slowly pushed him away and found more comfort in having her closest friend Alya and a big team. In every other season, she’s only rudely turned him down but not pushing him away from her.
And we can’t forget her own jealousy she’s had over Cat Noir and that she talked about considering him “if Adrien wasn’t around” in one of her diary entries. Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt, Marinette.
Tumblr media
I’m ready to start seeing that shift in season 5 where Marinette actually takes her feelings for Cat Noir into consideration instead of treating him like shit.
Tumblr media
He’s been there for her, cheering her on since she first started. Luckily, it seems she’s on the right path to realizing that, especially when he said:
“Has there ever been something that you’ve been wanting to tell someone but you just couldn’t do it? As if some invisible force was holding you back?”
Tumblr media
That’s something she can understand and relate to, being in love with Adrien.
Lastly, I’m tired of this slander of Adrien not respecting her boundaries enough. He’s not perfect and yes, he does need to learn a bit more about it. But there needs to be understanding in the fact that it’s on Gabriel for not teaching him jack-shit about anything. He has to learn from his bad experiences with Ladybug.
And, it also needs to be understood that he needs someone to be here for him which is why he latches onto Ladybug. He doesn’t have solid friends, he doesn’t have people to talk to. Adrien is misunderstood and alone a whole lot.
I’m hoping soon that these two gain better understanding of each others’ situations so they can move forward with their relationship. They both deserve each other and as long as they work things out, the reveal will be an amazing thing.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Mrs. Bustier sending Ivan to the Principal’s office immediately (instead of doing literally any conflict resolution herself) is one of the main reasons that Ivan got turned into Stoneheart. So it kind of makes sense for her as a character to put so much of her energy into preventing akumas. When they started happening, she probably took a long hard look at her life... and that’s before the entirety of season one where half of the akumas are from her class.

i don't get the whole 'the movie did something the show failed in 90 minutes' thing, because i've always had the impression the movie was supposed to be an origin story.
meaning, instead of comparing the movie against 5 seasons of the show, it's actually 105 minutes of movie versus 40 minutes of origins.
