MLOA
Went to see my doctor today.  Talking about emotions in person is fucking awful.  Like I don’t have time to formulate what I want to say or have the ability to get anything other than one word at a time out because I am instantly on the point of tears.
My doctors office is right across from the hospital.  When he came in he asked why I was there and I said I was having anxiety issues and he half laughed and said aren’t we all right now. Then looked up and was like oh are you still working next door.  I said yes and he was like... oh, yeah that’s not been good at all the past few weeks.  Fucking understatement of the month!
I didn’t go into the issues with management, just about how difficult it is to deal with such a high rate of patient death, plus the paranoia about getting sick or getting someone else sick and how living alone helps me isolate but is just so isolating.  How normally when I have a bad shift once I leave work I can leave it at the door but it doesn’t work that way in a pandemic.  It was nice to have someone validate that all of those things were reasons to be having trouble sleeping and functioning normally.
He had me do an anxiety/depression questionnaire.  He said I very much have some strong anxiety issues and likely some underlying depression.  Both of which I agree with.  He wrote me a note to be off work for all of June and gave me a PRN rx for Xanax.  I am not sure how much I will really need it if I am not working, I am hoping now that I faxed over the note some of that anxiety will start to fade.  Though in general for about 4 years now I have had health anxiety (kicked off by my mom having breast cancer) so I can imagine some of that will linger even with my exposure drastically lessened.  I will go back in 2 weeks and we will talk more and see if maybe I should start on something routine.  I have always told myself I don’t need to, that I function ok and most of my problem is just laziness.  But, maybe this is the time to give it a try and see if makes a difference.
While I was at the office I felt good about going on leave, but man pretty quickly after the guilt kicked in. Feeling like I am exaggerating things and should be able to handle this better.  It’s so easy to tell myself it wasn’t that bad when I am not actively there.  I for sure have dealt with this in the past where I don’t know how to trust what I am feeling is legit and not just an excuse.  Any friends/family I have told have been super supportive and wanting to know how they can help me out which makes me feel weird too because I can’t really deserve/need that.
Then I got an email I was cc’d on from my union rep on about how the ICU is literally full and they are short staffed and the CNO response in not so many words blaming the nurses calling sick for all the problems.  So that helped remind me why I need to get away.
I am not sure how this time off will go.  I am hoping to use it to focus on my health in general.  Get more active, major diet over haul, and just build up some good habits.  I worry the days will just speed by with me doing nothing more than laying around messing about on my phone.

Since introducing a discussion on bleeding walleye a while back we have more folks asking us to bleed their walleye (besides keeping them thawed another slime saving action). The net result are white walleye fillets that keep even longer when frozen for a later dinner date. #travelmb #huntfishmb #manitobawildlifefederation #mloa #cabelascanada #fishinhole #teamcanada #rapalacanada #livetargetlures #sufixlines #mrheater #vexilar #salmo (at Lake Winnipeg) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZBCxEILTZf/?utm_medium=tumblr

Checking in
I am not really friends with anyone I work with.  That’s never been something that happened with me at any job I have had.  I am not someone people think to invite to things outside of work, which is something I have long accepted as part of life.
I have texted/messaged a bit more with a couple nurses during this covid BS than was the norm and am “friends” with many on different social media platforms, but I didn’t post anything public about my MLOA just telling close family/friends personally.  However, since turning in my MLOA Friday night I had not heard from anyone I work with.  I started getting some super negative thoughts about the situation thinking either they were pissed with me for not being there when they need help (being the one who is always there / can always come help is kinda the one thing I have going for me) or they just didn’t really notice of care.
Turns out as usual I was super overthinking it.  I wasn’t even scheduled to work this week until today so no one on the floor had realized I wasn’t coming until yesterday when they were trying to get someone to cover for my shift.
Yesterday 2 nurses reached out to me to ask how I was doing.  They were very understanding about the why of my absence and it just felt nice to have that support from people who are in the same situation I was in, though arguably dealing with it better than I was able to.  It also made me even more sure of my decision to take the leave before I just up and quit cause things do not sound any better.

OutOfFlash: So, I woke up out of my sleep because of a sharp pain in my stomach. Boyfriend and I went to the hospital to get checked out. They did an ultrasound. The baby’s fine. I’m fine. I forgot what they said it was. But I’ve been put on bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy. Gotta take the note into my job tomorrow to get the paperwork done for my MLOA... While I hate missing work, that gives me more free time to try and get some activity done on this blog. I still get paid every week too so that’s a plus. I’m gonna miss my crew back in the bakery, tho. I’ll still pop in to check on them every now and again.

Zillow gets into the mortgage business, acquires Mortgage Lenders of America
Zillow, the publicly traded real estate portal and lead generation service, has acquired Mortgage Lenders of America. This is Zillow’s first move into originating mortgages. Until now, the company’s focus in this space was on providing home buyers with quotes from a variety of third-party lenders.
The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Mortgage Lenders of America (MLoA) is a privately held online lender based in Kansas. It will continue to operate as usual and will continue to appear in Zillow’s existing mortgage marketplace, which isn’t going away either. “Owning a mortgage lender will allow Zillow Group to develop new tools and partnership opportunities, including for real estate brokers with existing in-house mortgage operations or mortgage affiliates,” the company says in today’s announcement.
Other lenders in Zillow’s marketplace may not feel the same way. MLoA originated 4,400 mortgage loans from its ads on Zillow in 2017. The company argues that this leaves “plenty of opportunity for independent lenders to continue to advertise and build their businesses on the Zillow Group platform.”
In many ways, this move makes perfect sense, given the trajectory Zillow has been on in recent years. The company recently started buying and selling homes through its Zillow Offers program in a few select cities, so this closes the loop for buyers who are using this program.
“Getting a mortgage can be the toughest, most painstaking and time-consuming part of the home buying process,” said Greg Schwartz, president of media and marketplaces at Zillow Group, in a canned statement. “Now that we are buying and selling homes through Zillow Offers, we believe that having our own mortgage origination service as an option for consumers will allow us to streamline the process for people who buy a Zillow-owned home. Over time, we expect the work we do in conjunction with this new line of business will help us expand our offerings to our partners – including real estate brokers with existing in-house mortgage operations and third-party lenders who co-market with Premier Agents.”
MLoA was founded in 2000 and currently has about 300 employees. It will remain in its Kansas headquarters and its CEO Philip Kneiberts will continue to lead the company as general manager after the deal closes, which will likely happen in the fourth quarter of 2018.

MLOA Meeting Offers Education, Opportunities
MLOA President Maurice Brewster of Mosaic Global Transportation Orlando — Even after the late-night suite party it hosted, the Minority Limousine Operators of America (MLOA) welcomed more than 80 attendees to its October 24 breakfast meeting—one of the most well-attended in-person meetings of the far-flung association to date.
MLOA President Maurice Brewster of Mosaic Global Transportation began the meeting by discussing the increased educational opportunities the association has been offering its members by the way of webinars and programs, as well as other benefits of membership and a summation of the MLOA’s past year in highlights.
The MLOA’s executive board Making good on the MLOA’s promise to deliver relevant, in-demand information, the meeting featured Keynote Speakers Daniel Selby of Daniel Selby PLLC and Randel Holmes of Delta Airlines.
Selby, an accountant, gave those in attendance an interactive session on “the business of tax.” Along with discussing mergers and acquisitions, he dispelled the double-taxation myth as it relates to profits being taxed at both the corporation and individual levels. He also helped demystify heady topics like alternative tax triggers, as well as explained how to scale one’s business for pro-activity.
Members of Chosen Payments presented Brewster with the MLOA’s rebate check MLOA 1st Vice President Darrell Anderson of A-National Limousine was credited for introducing Holmes to the association—and sidestepping an offer for his company to handle a global contract for Delta by opening it up to all MLOA members in good standing instead.
Holmes discussed that business opportunity, as well as how to make the most of corporate philosophies for companies aiming “to make their suppliers and employees as diverse as their customers.” He also examined the mechanics of RFP submissions by using examples of the newly launched Delta A320 plane and what those 11-13 crew members expect from their dedicated ground transportation providers.
The October 24 meeting was one of the MLOA’s best-attended events in association history At the end of the meeting, Brewster acknowledged the many meeting sponsors and the MLOA advisory board of vendors, reiterating that the latter’s knowledge and former’s support make providing the education that members demand possible.
Chosen Payments ended the meeting on a high note by presenting Brewster with a rebate check for $1,656.47.
The next MLOA meeting will be its November 29 conference call.
