The next 4-star set has been announced and we’ve got more high school Matsus! This time they’re ready for swim class, simply called the Swimsuit (High School Student) set. 

They attack many enemies at once and have high HP and attack. They also power up the skills of other characters within the same set as well as characters from the original 3-star Swimsuit set.

This set will be available in the gacha on July 00!

As you can see above, Hesokuri Wars was going to add a set of the 18matsus in swimsuits, but for whatever reason, they ended up never seeing the light of day. A bit of an explanation on how these pics were uncovered:

Back then, the news bubble that popped up whenever a player launched the game was sourced from a webpage. Given that the staff would sometimes write the news in advance, they had a full section prepared announcing the release of this set, and so Mod Kara ripped the images from there and drafted this post in anticipation of its release. Needless to say, that never happened, but we couldn’t just post these, so these guys have been stuck in limbo for the past 4+ years. Buuut now that the game’s been shut down for over a year, it’s probably fine to release them, right?

Gotta wonder what happened that caused them to never be put into the game. Cheers to the set that never was!

Yes, that’s what I was more or less confused by. I’ve only really played Hesowars which doesn’t have brother-specific skits for events/units, so Shimamatsu confused me in that aspect. Thank you for the reply!

Always happy to help! Shimamatsu didn't survive for as long as other games, only about half a year. So there isn't a lot of story or content to go through, but what little we did get was very fun.

I'm glad to see people still interested in the game this long after. 😊

Hi, guys! Hope you've had a good, or at least somewhat decent, 2023. I can't believe it's been well over a year since Hesokuri Wars officially shut down. Time really flies, doesn't it?

Despite how long it's been, I've been feeling a little nostalgic for this franchise lately. As much as this blog ended up neglecting its duties during the year leading up to the game's shutdown, I kind of want to make up for that by helping with its preservation. Others have already committed to doing so, but I think it'll help a few people if there was a single post consolidating everyone's efforts, so here we go:

Basic / General:

The Osomatsu-san AU Fandom Wiki has a page dedicated to listing the various Hesokuri Wars AUs, all of which have their own wiki pages with images

Tumblr user @/denkimystery has a pretty extensive catalog of information related to the Denki Mystery AU in Hesokuri Wars, including but not limited to a basic run-down of the characters, translations of the character descriptions / event stories / attraction buildings, and a timeline of the overarching story

Added 12/3/2023: Another good wiki to use is the Hesokuri Wars Wiki on Gamerch, though it's (possibly?) incomplete and in Japanese (credit to @/snowimatsu for providing!)

Hey, I'm not sure if this blog is active, but I'll try asking anyway: so I never played Shimamatsu and I'm trying to understand how the stories work. I know there's the main story, "Matsu stories", and event stories. My problem is that I've also seen that apparently certain units/cards/whatever have /specific/ stories? Are those also included in event stories, or are they a separate thing entirely?

Oh wow, it's been so long I don't quite remember. Basically Shimamatsu is its own au, it's not related to the main story of the anime or any other Ososan game. But it's still an Ososan franchise, as we all know how they don't really have a set "story", it's all slapstick skits. So any event story can be considered part of the canon to Shimamatsu main story, but there's no specific chronological order these stories take place.

I'm not sure if I answered your question correctly? Please let me know.

I don’t know why Lord Zetta gives me such Duke / Vampair vibes. Maybe it’s something about the pointy ears, clothing aesthetic? I’ve been playing a lot of the Makai Kingdom that came in the mail the other day, so some of my thoughts about different things under the read more. 

Back when I played Makai Kingdom on Yee Old Playstation 2, I remember that his voice actor was not only amazing, but he was hilarious in how much of an ego-driven narcissist the was. Although now that I’m thinking about it, Disgaea, Soul Nomad - Nippon Ichi kinda does have a theme of really cocky main characters, don’t they? I’m an Overlord! I’m a God! I can do whatever I want because I’m powerful and nobody can stand in my way! 

Feels like that’s kind of a theme these games seem to weave into each series. That you shouldn’t feel like you’re above consequences just because of a power or a title. That misfortune and pain can affect everyone, even the people who think they’re too mighty to be touched. Probably why I continue to adore these titles and buy them when they’re re-released - because they create such witty, smartass memorable characters, and there’s a real sense of importance in the story. 

A long time ago, someone once asked me who would win in a fight - Gig, a God, versus Zetta, a powerful Overlord - and I still think it’s a difficult one to pin down. Gig would be more powerful in strength alone - but Zetta has a lot of persistence, and a lot of drive. I also feel like Gig’s downfall in imagined battle scenarios is getting caught up in baiting and bantering. He’s not a sloppy fighter by any means, but he can potentially get extremely unhinged when he’s angry. Explosive power is dangerous, but only when it’s aimed correctly - and that aim can become erratic if he lets his focus slip.
