Ace Attorney facts from interviews that live rent free in my brain:

- Turnabout Big Top was voted in the Top 5 cases in the trilogy in a Japanese poll and is, on record, Takumi’s favorite non-finale case

- The team got yelled at for “including too many old men” which led to the creation of Mia’s character

- Takumi’s favorite character is Maya, but he has to get drunk before he can write her dialogue otherwise he gets too embarrassed

- The most requested case concept from fans is [checks notes] a.. train groping case?????

- Takumi has more trouble writing Phoenix than Edgeworth bc the prosecutor is “more unstable than the average person”

- Takumi’s headcanon is that Phoenix was training to be a Shakespearean actor in college and that’s why he’s Like That. He was in Europe studying theatre when he saw Edgeworth in the newspaper and then pivoted to law. Apparently Takumi thinks Phoenix might have been a manga artist’s assistant in college for extra money too?

- Edgeworth’s sanity is apparently hanging exclusively on his dog, who is the only living thing he can be vulnerable with. If the dog dies Edgeworth would apparently Fucking Lose It

- Phoenix thinks Edgeworth is a “pretty cute guy”

having vague thoughts about E3 and the current state of AAA game development in general..

like yeah direct promotions have had more of an impact than Big Events for me, and the main thing I'd want to see out of E3 are trailers for new games or the conversations that follow online - but a few points on that

I can just as easily look up “new games for [platform] [year]” on youtube

Something about the way AAA games are built these days makes me get bored of them ⅔ of the way through, if I even make it that far, on top of them charging more for less content and hiding away the rest behind multiple DLC packs

I've mostly been buying indies the past few years and have gotten a lot of fun out of them; they continue to deliver a nearly unrivaled experience of fun gameplay mechanics and interesting/emotional stories at a ridiculously low cost

I also have emulators for going back and playing old games I really liked so I'm not exactly desperate for new games

and idk!! weird to see E3 officially ending but I also think the landscape is very different these days including the game companies themselves. I'm not a game dev so I can't rly speak to what the change has looked like on their end over the past 10-20 yrs.

#i kind of wanna read or watch an interview with someone who's done game development for Years #and see them talk about What's Changed bc on god these AAA games can be so different from each other #but still somehow sm of them get kind of boring and repetitive FAST #i can def fw some games. I haven't played all of resident evil but they've always been fun. the only one I've played but not beat #is RE zero. also metroid - they know what they're doing over there. I'm reading an interview about the creation of Dual Destinies and knowing that this was the writing philosophy certainly clears things up for me. "Don't worry about past characterization of chronology, just be creative" They sure did do that sir
