what kind of rock is the rock you post? it looks kinda igneous to me but i cant totally tell

I took earth science two years ago and blacked out most of the rock identification unit (I LOVE ROCKS but I hate hate rock identification theres so many rules my brain cant handle it) but id probably say yes to igneous, id take a wild guess at something granite-y, its def felsic and pretty course grained in places, and not fucked up enough to be sedimentary or metamorphic

Dude it's been less than a minute what the fuck. You can't just throw this at me within the first minute like it's just a casual normal thing.

Okay so this also made me realize that the gems are in fact not organic but Steven is so I guess Steven is a flesh gem. I hate that. I do not like this knowledge.

Ok this dance sequence was very adorable & I'm gonna go out on a limb here & assume these two are gonna be, like, y'know, a 'thing' by the end of the series. Idk man, maybe I'm crazy, I just have a striking suspicion that the show is trying to hint to me that these two might have romantic feelings toward eachother. Idk I just get the feeling that's what I'm being told. Just a hunch.

Tourmalinated Quartz: sometimes known as black rutilated quartz, it feels very fitting to Abigail because of how the tourmaline inclusions almost “stab” through the quartz, which to me feels like Abigail’s adventurous side. Overall, tourmaline is very Abigail (have you even SEEN the way it looks raw?? Oh my gosh it’s so her) but tourmalinated quartz just feels a Touch more correct.

Grape Agate: first of all, purple and indigo/blue. Second of all, it’s named like a food, so it’s perfect for her rock-munching habits! Third of all, though it forms in little tiny round bits (which is a stark contrast to the way tourmaline forms), the shape is very unique and unlike any other natural formation. Abigail is incredibly unique in her own right, with her natural purple hair!

Malachite: I’m certain that this one is mostly synesthesia, but there’s something to be said about the way Abigail is often mischaracterized (or at the very least, brought down to “hot goth gf”) and fake malachite is VERY often sold as real. Kinda like mischaracterization, but it’s of a rock!

If you’re curious, I’ll post something about identifying fake malachite vs real malachite because it drives me INSANE how fucking OFTEN people fall for it

I am quite sick and tired of certain Rose Quartz stans acting like people who dislike her are incapable of understanding a redemption story told in reverse. Did we watch the same story?

The redemption arc being told in reverse was because Rose is a character who did not actually redeem herself. Doing other good things does not fix all the harm she caused.

In particular, with Bismuth.

She had her friend in a bubble for thousands upon thousands of years, and never even tried to unbubble her and reconcile with her. I do understand that Bismuth tried to kill her, but that was because they were fighting an impossible war and Bismuth felt as though there was no other way to save all of them. Bismuth felt as though Rose valued the lives of their enemies more than their own and she was right. Rose did, even if it was for a good reason, value the life of Pink Diamond.

It was not good what Bismuth did, but it was not worth being bubbled for thousands of years. Imaging blinking and it is thousands of years in the future and most of your friends are dead. That is a fate many would consider worse than death.

They were no longer at war. Bismuth did not need to be contained like that for Rose's safety. Bismuth was not a threat to Rose, not when there were 4 Crystal Gems left and they all unquestioningly followed her.

Rose was running from her problems. Rose never, ever tried to fix the problems she caused there. I suspect it's because she didn't want the other Crystal Gems to think badly of her, I really think she valued her reputation far more than she valued Bismuth.

I also think this is part of why she never told them she was Pink Diamond. Lying to her friends in such a major, impactful way and never telling them is not exactly redemption to me. I think she knew she should have and did not because she was a coward, because she valued being loved and respected far more than she valued trying to fix the harm she caused.

And you are allowed to disagree with me. But to act like my interpretation is wrong and the only way people can think this way is because we are stupid just pisses me off.

#There is an entire movie about the harm Rose caused in the past being unredeemed and rising back up #But as she could not actually fix the situation with Spinel after she had grown as a person I generously did not bring it up. #But it indicates to me the writers were very very aware that Rose was not a good 'redeemed' person.
