I pretty sure men are responsible for the down fall of every great civilization that ever was and to be more specific I'm sure the vast majority of them were white men as well.

Accelerationism Unfolding: The Real-World Impacts of a Controversial Philosophy
Explaining #Accelerationism: A deep dive into how elite strategies might hasten societal change and our role in a rapidly evolving world.
As someone who values practicality, I often reflect on simpler times, before the pervasive dominance of the internet. My recent encounter with the term “accelerationism” in decentralized media struck a chord, prompting deep contemplation. To put it plainly, accelerationism is akin to driving a failing car engine to its limit to manage the aftermath of its inevitable failure. It’s a metaphor for…

so it’s. it’s like. man this is so hard without my laptop.
alright so Crassus is a weird guy, existentially. There’s a tendency to speculate, assign, and insert him into whatever places are conspiratorial and shadowy because he fits into those narrative places with ease. My personal favorite (aside from all of it) is the idea that he may have pulled strings wrt to Sulla and Caesar’s conflict to help get Caesar out of it.
Tumblr media
The Defeat of Rome: Crassus, Carrhae and the Invasion of the East, Gareth C. Sampson
In the universe that exists in my head, he definitely had a hand in it, but he didn’t really intend for Caesar to figure out he played a part in it, but Caesar’s good at puzzles, and noticing someone goes both ways. Binding someone to yourself goes both ways.
Tumblr media
Crassus: The First Tycoon, Peter Stothard
This scene takes place sometime relatively soon after Sulla’s death. Crassus has complicated feelings about it, Caesar less so. Veni, vidi, vici, baby!
Here’s a bonus thing that I keep thinking about with them.
Tumblr media
The Roman Revolution, Ronald Syme
like, utang na loob. and it is DEEP between them.

Stepbro!Ethan and Stepsis!Quinn 🤤
How do you think Ethan would act if he found out about Reader and Quinn?
oh he would be pissedddd offf!!! (very very slight dubcon)
mostly because since they were young, he barely had anything to himself. everything that was his also had to be quinns or richies, because they were the golden children and ethan was the nuisance.
so he's finally had this one thing, this special connection, this fated match with his stepsister out of all people and he thinks that this is it. he's dumb, but not dumb enough to not notice how quinn takes a liking to you. of course, at first, he doesn't know it's like that. but he's just so happy that he has a definite stronger connection with you then she does. so he feels like this relationship is retribution for all of the things that quinn has one-upped him in or took from him.
but if/when he finds out ?? he sees a hickey that he definitely didn't give you and when you're accidentally wearing a pair of panties that aren't yours, not even the brand you wear, and he's livid. first, at quinn because of course, she had to take something else from him.
then, he's mad at you. not in the vengeful, almost murderous, way that he's mad at quinn, but in a possessive way. he has you trapped underneath him, forcing you to take when he gives you no matter how much you beg for more or for less. he's trying to convince you to swear that you won't go back to quinn for more, that he can be the only one to touch and feel you. it takes forced orgasms and orgasm denial and so many hickies that it's concerning but you're finally agreeing, dried tears tightening your cheeks and fresh ones already doing the same.
of course, to quinn, this is a sibling battle. civil war in the bailey household.

Lately, I've been reading about Sumer, Egypt, Assyria, Asia, Greece, and various early human civilizations. In the past, the general notion of 'religion' once entwined art, science, and ethics. That is to say that religion has, by and large, been a quasi-unifying way of viewing nature as one dynamic, connected thing.
Modernity seems to have abstractly tried to separate these ideas and isolate them into their own realms, as if they exist independently of one another.
This is kind of ironic. Because today we know from both physics and plain observation that ideas and things are interconnected. Denying this is absurd.
Knowledge itself, like great art and science, is often forged through great adversity. This is counter-intuitively good. One can get an understanding of a culture from how its inhabitants view both its ancestors and the hard-earned knowledge that's been passed down from generation to generation. Or, failing that, inquiring about where, exactly, it gets its knowledge from.
And physical and spiritual traits tend to be entwined, too (medical issues aside). One tends to accompany the other. For example, traits at a spiritual and metaphysical level get reflected at the object level. Thus, we can observe that the morals or values of a culture are sometimes reflected in the outward appearances, behaviors, and artistic creations of the people. Many of these principles are surprisingly generalizable.
A culture is the sum of this and more. Categories of things like these can reveal how a culture organizes itself. How it reproduces itself—not just sexually but memetically. It's customs and practices. How it records itself, thinks of itself, and artistically expresses itself. And what it permits and forbids.
Religion is like culture. And culture is almost indistinguishable from religion.
The main difference, I think, is that religion is encompassing in the sense that it has functionally served as a container for science, art, and itself for much of history.
In this way, religion is like an overarching organic structure that has served various functions in structuring ideas as well as social order.
Furthermore, every culture and subculture is a sort of quasi-religion, even if it doesn't explicitly identify as one.
Some claim that we have transcended religion, that we have eclipsed the past, and that we have left even our primitive shadows behind. But I don't think this is true at all.
It's religion all the way down. We still worship; we still play primal games; and we still play with fire and blood, albeit in different ways. It's just today that we're a primitive culture of Simians with computers. Some might say we are savage robots.
Others assert we are more highly evolved and know more today than ever before. And maybe, in some ways, we do know more. But in some other ways, it seems we have forgotten many of the obvious things that we once knew.
*This post is not a claim that religion is intrinsically good. It's an observation that religion is organic—and that in the spirit of functionalism, it served a purpose—that it was once (and still is, to some extent) a container for many things. But knowledge, science, ethics, and so on are collectively dynamic and evolving things. And we can all agree that nobody would want to live in a universe where people are put to death for wearing the wrong clothes or some other frivolous triviality. To say that humanity was completely better off at some point in the ancient past is blasphemy against human progress.

any kevjean headcannons to share?
yes YES yes
i think jean is one of the few people (among neil, and occasionally andrew) who can actually make kevin laugh. he has very dry and dark humor and during their time at evermore he would often try to make kevin crack up during tetsuji's long team-wide sermons
they're one of the very few aftg ships i actually see doing the whole marriage thing. but saying marriage wouldn't be right either, because what they actually do is elope, and andrew was Very Mad when he found out
they have very intimate knowledge of each other's bodies! and yes, in the sexual sense, but i also mean this in a clinical way too. kevin specifically knows what its like to stitch jean's skin together, what pressure points to poke at to make his muscles twitch and relax, the crook of his fingers and the spots where kevin himself has splintered them, where jean aches after practice and what injuries still give him trouble
kevin is remarkably cool and uncaring when it comes to romance. jean is the only partner he's ever had that has made him feel jealous
they're absolutely MONSTROUS as a team!!!! jean does not often hang around the foxes, but the one time he and kevin paired up for beer pong in the foxes' company, they beat everyone else so badly they were disclassified on account of unfair privilege
they never truly lose that raven hivemind with each other, but it's not in the way you'd think. it's not hard to catch them doing or saying the exact same thing at the exact same time, sharing a task meant for one between the two of them, completing each other's sentences. yes it's scary. yes they're horror movie twins
they! can! only! play! piano! with! four! hands!
jean never actually gets along with wymack. as in-laws they're terrible. they can stand each other at their best, but can't be kept in the same room for long. this is not for any particular grudge; their personalities just clash. hence the elopement.
jean is very large but he is used to crouching down to make himself look smaller. this often ends with kevin patting his head absent-mindedly when he does something he approves of. even after jean loses the habit of trying to look shorter, he still lowers himself for the headpats
i have more but i will abstain because i just realized how long this is. theyre so crazy though. literally insane people. they make andreil look normal and well-adjusted
