Tonight I had one of those moments

When I was driving home

And the road a clear path

It’s funny, though,

Because when I think of my destination

It’s always Texas, which I don’t think is typical of most people.

I keep forgetting to mention this, but my library has a stuffed real-size Lorax (I need a picture with him sometime), and a copy of the book in Spanish.

I really like that the Once-ler is called Mr. Fuena-Vez in Spanish; it’s such a pretty name.

Today’s Library Joke

We’ve been getting about 15 calls an hour (about every 4 minutes) asking for solar eclipse glasses.

Thus, my coworker was tempted to call one of the other libraries (having the same problem) and ask the following:

“I’m looking for a book?”

-audible sigh of relief from other librarian- “What’s the title?”

“Oh, it’s called ‘Do You Have Those Glasses?’ by The Solar Eclipse.”

-cue laughter from all of us-

Rewatching Disney’s Hercules always makes me laugh.

Like--Hercules WAS the son of Zeus and DID have all these trials and tribulations but it SO wasn’t Hades who caused them--it was Hera, who is his mother in this movie. Cause he wasn’t actually HER son (of course).

In modern media Hades is always represented as this super evil guy and in all the old myths he was just the world’s chillest Bro, and if anyone from the underworld would actually mess with stuff it wouldn’t be Hades, it would be She Who Must Be Obeyed (aka Persephone).

I just finished “Carry On” by Rainbow Rowell. It’s basically like Harry Potter, if Harry was rooming with Draco Malfoy, and couldn’t control his magic very well.

It was cute and romantic and funny and I really, really liked it.

So I just finished reading this book called At the Edge of the Universe and if you’re looking for a book with a really diverse cast of characters it’s definitely got it.*

It also made me cry but that’s just because I’m a sappy dork.

*(The main characters are, in order of introduction, gay, African-American, nonbinary, ace, and bi)
