Soap adventures!! This is what I’ve been doing for the past few weeks, lol…and a lot more than what’s pictured here, actually. Lots of gifts and samples for friends and family! You can see I’ve been playing around with my Sahuldeem ideas (I think I’ll share the fragrance combos in a separate post for those), but also is now a good time to mention I’m playing Overwatch again after taking a break for a few years? Couldn’t resist using a few of my favorite heroes for inspiration. ;)
Anyway! Fun times! More to come (and candles, too). ^_^

,,Harrow The Ninth” audiobook is just negative affirmations. YOU threw up on god’s carpet. YOU fell in love with a 10000 year old corpse. YOU have worms in your brain. Thank you audiobook voice for telling me this. I will rip my ears off now.

SUBLIME CINEMA #682 - PEEPING TOM
The film that lost Michael Powell a career and gained him cult status and fans from across the Atlantic such as Coppola and Scorsese who championed him, and cited this film as a major inspiration.
Interestingly while this film was busy being banned and criticized across Europe for its shocking content, Hitchcock's Psycho was busy making a fortune. Both released in 1960, it was perhaps Powell's brilliant use of color which ultimately doomed Peeping Tom. Audiences at the time were unable to reconcile the beauty of the photography with the shock of seeing so much red - the implied color of blood in an otherwise bloodless film.
Psycho got away with it because the black and white acted as a censor.. The blood was black.

Brig HMS Earl of Moira Hotly Engaged, by Peter Rindlisbacher.
The ship in this War of 1812 naval battle, HMS Earl of Moira (also called HMS Moira), is named after the same person, Francis Edward Rawdon-Hastings, 1st Marquess of Hastings, as Francis Rawdon Moira Crozier! (Who was later captain of HMS Terror, a ship that saw action in several famous War of 1812 battles).
HMS Moira was built at the Kingston Royal Naval Dockyard, a Royal Navy base on Lake Ontario.

So this is kind of random but I watched some vids about Moira Queen last night and I just really love the fact that she calls Oliver her beautiful boy. Don't ask me why but I found it very sweet and touching from the beginning and it just became more significant given the scars adorning Oliver's body and the fact that he probably does not have a healthy body image because of that.
Could be totally wrong but I just find it very special and it shows us how Moira sees him. What he means to her.
Maybe that's just me but I felt the need to share this with someone so here it is.
Also we did not get enough Moira on the show and I just loved the Queen family. The scenes with her and her children were some of the best on the show.

Hey! So how is your take regarding Moira doing experiments on people without their consent (e.g. Widowmaker, Reaper)?
hiya! great question! short answer: it's real fucked up man.
on a personal level i obviously hate that she does that. it's really shitty and fully unethical and she's turning people into something completely unlike themselves, into entirely new damaged people. even doing a minuscule treatment on someone without their consent is a whole issue in healthcare and scientific worlds, let alone what she's done to others, particularly widow and reaper. i don't condone it in any sense, and she genuinely should not be working as a scientist the way she is and needs to be stopped on that front, or in the very least watched every moment of the day and supervised to an extreme.
in her mind though, she's just doing science. she's trying to better humanity in some form or another ( even if she's, you know, not actually succeeding in doing that ) and morals and ethics and what's right doesn't matter to her. she wants to do her work, wants to experiment, and will do most anything in order to further her work, even changing someone so fundamentally as she has with widow and reaper, even without their consent. it's just more red tape that she has to go through, so just not doing that speeds up the process, speeds up her work, and she's willing to circumvent it all in order to do it.
changing widow and reaper the way she has, it's only seemed to further cement in her mind that what she's doing is doing something. in her mind, she can quite literally change humanity ( not necessarily for the better ) and sacrifices have to made in order to achieve her ends.
in that same vein, she's really fucking herself up with the experiments on herself. i guess that's sort of a karmic retribution ( even if only the smallest amount ) for what she's done to others. she can consent, they can't, and now she's turning purple and getting weaker in ways rather than stronger.
so short answer i hate it and if it wouldn't fundamentally change her ( and others ) as a character i'd make it non-canon. but she's the reason two important characters are the way they are, and it sucks and they and anyone else surely didn't deserve that.
i may have her no longer doing unconsented experiments on people and instead solely on herself, but that doesn't change the fact that's she's done some real fucked up shit in the past.

I’ve finished watching ‘Anne With An E’. I thought it was a really great show in many ways. Especially the writing. Didn’t really care for the Shirbert romance. I felt like they left that one a bit too late. Although I enjoy slow burn… the constant back and forth wasn’t enough to cultivate my passion. Although they’re both amazing people in their own right, I just didn’t feel it because the writing was very rushed for it in the end.
Otherwise… to Moira Walley-Beckett…
this show was absolutely exceptional.
I’m so glad I returned to it to finish it. But I am ever so personally aggrieved for you that it was cancelled.
Netflix are real sods. I’m sorry.
Hopefully now that Anne knows that she looks like her birth mother, she’ll stop bagging on her red hair and freckles. Her vanity was a huge annoyance to watch. But she was a character that was a breath of fresh air in that she never lost her imagination even as she grew up into a woman. She just ended up refining it to include, at least reachable, goals and ambitions. Her temper tantrums eventually became very meaningful and impactful. She was a character developed well. That’s why I love coming of age stories. It really does make all the difference when evolution is the focus. I wouldn’t say she was morally grey but they definitely made sure to showcase her flaws and faults and the consequences that came from her actions and choices… which is enough really. I didn’t need much else. I’m just glad she wasn’t your typical protagonist. Yes, she was a good person but she didn’t always do good things or make good choices. That mattered. It also mattered how she corrected her mistakes. By developing on her self-awareness and emotional maturity once she realized where she went wrong. It all served to give a real, relatable and resonatable character. A real gem of characterization in any show.
And Thank You to Amybeth McNulty for portraying her ever so well and knowing where her true heart lies. I’m fairly certain your first audition was a crying scene because you certainly did enough of them. But - along with the character writing - you never once made her seem weak in doing so. Expressing emotion was a strength and not a weakness. I really appreciate that.

barbie spoilers
the “we mother’s stand still so our daughters can look back to see how far they have come” scene and the montage made me realize how much i miss having a mom. i wish our relationship wasn’t that strained, that i could trust her again and maybe even go and see barbie together. i’ve never really wanted to admit that i miss being a daughter and i miss my mom. but i do. i miss my mom who was there for me and who played with me and who watched movies with me. i want her back, not the woman that constantly tries to find something to be angry about, that made me suffer so much i wanted to never talk to her again. i want her to always be proud of me like she used to and not when it’s convenient for her. i want to feel unconditionally loved and supported and just. not like a burden. god, this movie unpacked so much in me, i don’t think i will ever be able to process it.

yep. 😔
We only find out Pash is really very hot after we become deeply aware of how she's the most unpleasant motherfucker in the region.
to this day I wonder what my impression would've been reading it in text for the first time. rip.
She is so lame but you know what I love it. It's just so funny seeing the marked dissonance between audio/immersion readers and text readers view of the character. She's this machine gun toting edgelord badass and she also has noseplugs in at all times lmfao
