Сьогодні я вам повідаю про одне село Одеської області. Здавалося б, звичайне село! Воно зветься Фараонівкою, розташоване в Білгород-Дністровському районі. Цікава назва, чи не так? Його було засновано в 19 ст. з метою дати осіле житло ромам, які на той час були майже виключно кочівниками. Їм царська влада дала землю та гроші - 30 десятин землі та 125 рублів у позику, але трохи пізніше з царського ж наказу усіх ромів Бесарабії записали до Дунайського війська. Їм це не сподобалося і саме село Фараонівка стало центром ромського супротиву - вони писали листи чиновникам та збирали кошти, були навіть заворушення, боротьба тривала до 1860х, поки не було розформовано саме військо, після чого роми покинули це село. Але чому ж Фараонівка? Хоч роми і походять з Південної Азії, але тривалий час їх асоціювали з Єгиптом - мовляв, вони звідти прийшли (gypsy походить від Egypt, так). Тому і Фараонівка. Також в Одеській области є село Каїри, яке отримало назву таким же чином.

А ще у Фараонівці народився талановитий молдовський художник Міхай Ґрека. Чудові картини, чи не так?
