BG3 Tav Introduction | Jamil D'Oria

I have... about twelve other things I should be doing, most of them grad school related but the tadpole speaks to me and I must answer so here's some information I've been scrounging together for my Tav

Jamil (Alfonso Parsa) D'Oria, 41, with a noble background and member of the bard class, from the College of Lore

I've been developing him as an OC for about three years now and he is my beloved boy (even though he's about twice my age lmao)

Alignment: Neutral Good? with a bit of chaos sprinkled in there maybe

Gender/Sexuality: Gay man, he/him

Astrological Signs: Leo Sun, Pisces Moon, Pisces Rising

Romancing: Astarion. Of course.

I'm thinking he would be very close with Wyll prior to the game plotline or shortly into it just based on their similar upbringings

I do not know any DnD lore and I am currently not able to get a crash course in it so if anything I say about him contradicts it, don't tell me <3

Some fun facts about him!

Oldest of three siblings, has a younger brother Hakim and younger sister Eufemia

Part of a huge family on his mother's side, the D'Oria are an ancient established family with many many family members

He doesn't get along with his mother and travels as much as possible to avoid going home and back to his duties as the oldest son, however at this point she's all but disowned him and focuses on Hakim instead

His instrument of choice is a guitar gifted to him by his favorite aunt when he was a teenager that he would protect over his own life

Trained in sword-fighting as a teenager/young adult with his uncle, a world-renowned swordsman

Makes his own clothes more often than not

Technically needs glasses especially when it comes to reading and seeing at night, but refuses to wear them

Has a very friendly disposition that most people might assume is learned from years of nobility events, but he's just genuinely kind

Is not great with any kind of magic on his own, but can be used as a channel for others' magic

However, he has almost supernatural luck, which tends to rub off on those he spends the most time with after a while

Anyway, here he is, hopefully this will soothe the tadpole for a bit until I can sit down to write fic for him and Astarion

this scene from @barbwritesstuff’s blood moon might genuinely be one of my favorite “first kiss” moments of all time, so when i decided to commission an art piece, it was important to me that the composition was able to capture the sweetness and warmth and magic i feel when read it.

luckily, @molliartsie is an absolute rockstar and created something even more beautiful than i could have expected 🥺😍

just look at the COLORS and the lighting and the facial expressions and the soft cupping of cheeks and ed’s “adorably messy hair” and the detail of of wood and my girl mia in her overalls and the glow of the moon and gah!

Born and raised as one of the Alijae elves who made their home in the northern reaches of the Mwangi Jungle, Maiyarah spent the first few decades of her life learning local history and exploring the nearby Nagisa ruins with others in her tribe.

After discovering a love for learning, she enrolled in the prestigious Magaambya University. She only attended for three years, but in that time, her study of historical figures had led her to discover the ways of the legendary Magic Warriors. Following in their footsteps, she pledged to give up her name and identity in order to better serve any who needed help. From this point on, she would be known only as Izem.

An emissary for her tribe, Izem splits her time between her home in the treetops and her home in the nearby city of Kibwe. She helps organise any necessary trade or communication between the two locations, as well as providing protection for any (elf or otherwise) who need it.

When she was made aware of a curse afflicting people in Kibwe, transforming them into mindless oozes, she refused to stand by when everyone could be at risk. She joined forces with an unusual group of adventurers, determined to do what she could to keep the city and all within it safe.

Morta Tal’eel - rogue assassin

Born to a common human mother and high elf father, she was abandoned on the steps of the city orphanage at only a few days old - her parents too ashamed by the evidence of their affair. The orphanage, however, was a front for the city’s Assassin Guild, thus Morta spent her entire childhood being trained to be the ultimate killer. 

She’s sarcastic, cold, very much a bitch - a life time of physical, emotional, and mental trauma weighing heavily on her every day - but if you win her trust, her [ride or die] loyalty will never waver. She is loud, outspoken, knows what she’s doing and will do it well. Money can persuade her, but only if she thinks you’re worth her time.

Raised with only killing as a goal, she doesn’t find murder to be much of a moral issue - is indifferent to the legalities of it despite knowing it’s outlawed by most societies. She isn’t evil - though her main priority is herself [chaotic neutral] - killing just isn’t the same social taboo to her that it is to many others.

She’s attracted to women, but will flirt, seduce, and sleep her way to her goals if necessary - her body just another tool in her impressive arsenal - regardless of her target’s gender. She’s very pretty and she knows it.

This summer I commisioned @molliartsie to make two of my D&D characters come alive, and she did a marvelous job! (so, just so we’re clear, I didn’t draw these, Molly did. The characters are mine, but she drew them.) I haven’t posted them until now, because I forgot... But now is a great time to actually post them - or at least the first one - as my friends and I are picking our first campaign back up again! We haven’t played since april, but we’re playing again tomorrow, and I can’t wait!

The first one is my wood elven ranger, Enphira! She is the one I’m playing tomorrow - I miss her so much! I based her personality on Raven from Teen Titans, so that’ll give you an idea of what she’s like! One thing that is complete opposite from Raven, is that Enphira’s focus in life, is to get revenge for her parents... Remember, if your kid wants to be an adventurer, get somewhere safe. Don’t hesitate. There’s a reason all adventureres are orphans, or close to. Get out. Basically, they were killed by some drow elves, who used her bow and arrows to frame her, she was banished from her village and is now hell-bent on finding these people and killing them. Without mercy.

The one beneath is Eliris, or Elli for short! She’s my halfling bard who grew up on the streets! She met a nice gnome who bought her her first loot, and she has been playing ever since! Also, running, as she is wanted in her hometown. Dead or alive. Despite her not so amazing past, she seems very happy all the time, ready to help people in need, there to cheer up her party members when they’re feeling down... But she has trust issues... She would rather trust one of her friends with her life than her past. Also, she still steels shit. It’s kinda in her nature by now.

Anyway, this was my little introductury to my two first ever D&D characters! Many has followed since, and it’s only a little more than a year since I started playing... I never thought I would like anything as much as I like Dungeons and Dragons... If I was as passionate about my study as I am D&D, I could finish a whole bachelor in a year!

I once again want to thank Molly for taking up my commision! I am so happy with how they both turned out, you have no idea! You are one of my favorite artist and I hope you get everything want in life! You deserve nothing less!
