THE SPIRITED AWAY PLAY IS COMING TO MOVIE THEATERS IN AMERICA

GKIDS, a producer and distributor of animation, has acquired the rights to distribute the show in North America. As mentioned, two filmed performances of the production will become available for our viewing pleasure. This will let us get a full taste of the Spirited Away play. Each performance will star a different lead actress for Chihiro, who was double-cast.

For now, GKIDS plans to release the Spirited Away stage production in theaters. And the projected release date is spring 2023. No stated streaming plans are available at this time. But hopefully, after a theatrical release, the play will arrive on more platforms.

Spirited Away is coming to London’s West End for a strictly limited season. Following a sell-out tour of Japan in 2022, the original Japanese production will begin performances in April 2024, with exact dates to be announced. Created by the renowned animator and director Hayao Miyazaki, the story has been re-imagined for the stage by Olivier and Tony Award-winning director John Caird (Les Misérables). The original cast, including Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi, will perform in this production. “I am proud and delighted to present the original Japanese stage production of Spirited Away at the Coliseum Theatre next year." Caird said in a statement, "We had a wonderful time creating the show in 2022 and I’m so happy now to be spiriting away a British audience into Hayao Miyazaki’s magical world."

This drama is about a 23-year-old rookie nurse, Sakura Nanase, who is in love with a 31-year-old experienced cardiologist, Tendo Kairi, who is kind and dedicated to his patients but dubbed "The Devil" by his coworkers. Shenanigans ensue as Sakura and her cohort learn the tricks of the trade, and she attempts to win the heart of The Devil.

Funny and caring side characters: 10/10

Episodes that made me cry: 😭😭😭

Bright happy character meets tsundere romance: 100000/10 💗

This drama is perfect for anyone looking for a medical or romance drama. The drama doesn't just focus on the romance or the medical, it's a good and interesting balance of both. Typically, I find the tsundere personality type really annoying, but Tendo was very well-written and well-played.
