@unearthlyfromage 's version of evil!Stan if he got exposed to the Monster Falls AU 😆 (as interpreted by me). You probably cant tell but he's an angler fish merman. Only being tortured by Bill for decades could make Stan get abs. Also hard to wear glasses underwater. Also angler fish are blind. IT'S A SUPER FUN CONCEPT and I need more of it!

He sure had a pretty big crowd tonight; though despite his best and most dazzling display of dancing and powers they did seem a touch distracted by his father at the organ.

To be fair, now that he wasn’t as focused on his show he had to wonder what happened to the big idiot. The slime creature sitting at the keyboard was definitely his father… or maybe it had eaten him and absorbed his skills. It didn’t really matter to him as long as the thing did its job.

He pulled his water bottle out of his blazer and took a mouthful, almost immediately cringing at the taste. The child took a moment to examine the bottle; even with the label peeled off Gideon could tell that this wasn’t his usual brand by the shape of the bottle.

After he was sure the tent was empty he would have to have a word with - there was a sharp pain in his chest. The tent swam in his vision and he stumbled back a step and the pain grew worse. It felt like he wasn’t getting air but he could feel himself still breathing.

Was the water poisoned? Had his father (or this impostor) attempted to kill him? He turned to look at his father (or the thing pretending to be his father) for a moment before he felt himself falling backwards and everything went dark.

Bud saw his son’s face crinkle up in disgust at the new water and maybe he was trying to keep people loitering around a little longer to chat and delay the inevitable: Another tantrum to be forgotten.

Fortunately lots of folks were curious about the change he’d gone through earlier and he was glad to tell them what he knew, which admittedly wasn’t much.

He glanced up at Gideon to see if maybe he’d calmed down and met his eyes. A look of confusion and betrayal was clear on his little boy’s face as the light in his eyes grew dull and he fell backwards onto the stage with a soft little ‘oof’.

Something was wrong.

Bud clambered past (and somewhat through that one guy) to get to his son’s side. Gideon’s eyes were closed, and if it weren’t for the fact that Bud couldn’t see the rise and fall of his son’s chest he might have thought Gideon had fallen asleep on the stage.

His son wasn’t breathing.

The slime touched his little boy’s wrist, trying and failing to find a pulse. The remaining crowd started to gather and chatter and Bud wasn’t sure what to tell them. He wasn’t sure what to tell himself.

He took a breath to say something and Gideon’s eyes snapped open. Bud hastily dropped his wrist, startled. The boy still didn’t have a pulse.

Everything was too bright and too loud, but eventually Gideon figured out where he was and what was going on. Immediately he went into damage control mode, reassuring the fools that he was fine, he had just skipped dinner that night and pushed himself a little too hard.

He was not fine.

His father requested Gideon go to the hospital but the boy refused (he still wasn’t sure if he trusted the slime) so that was that. Instead he marched up to his room, promising he’d have words for him in a little bit.

He noticed it almost as soon as he stepped into the room.

Neither of the two mirrors in it reflected his image.

He walked right up to the mirror on his vanity but saw nothing. He touched the glass and his hand wasn’t there.

What had happened to him?
