so 3ds game modding has been on my mind again but instead of finishing/touching up on any of my past projects i think i want to try modding monster hunter 4 a lil >:3 when I was playing through mh1 (before i caved and just got the japanese version which i could use to connect to a private server to play online) what I had to do to get fight some of the online mutliplayer only monsters was replace a single player quest with some of the multiplayer quests. Which wasn't an ideal solution, but it worked.

so i want to see if i can do something similar to introduce a crimson fatalis quest into mh4g/u. crimson fatalis was present in mh4, but not mh4g (which was localized into mh4u), and the only way to get its armor and weapon sets in mh4g was to transfer your save up from mh4, an option not present in mh4u since the base mh4 was never localized. however, to my understanding crimson fatalis is still entirely intact in the code, and i'm curious if I can just, replace one of the existing fatalis quests with it 👀

i also, just for myself, want to add an option to have no voice on a character. im mute and it's a bit jarring to have my character yell left and right when im trying to immerse myself in the roleplaying

lastly, i want to see if i can somehow add the japanese only event quests from 4/4g into mh4u. the unique armor and weapon types are still in the game and accessible through cheating, but i'm curious if I can add in a "legitimate" way to do them

Somebody who knows about Monster Hunter explain a thing to me.

So me and the gf were watching old Monster Factory videos and we got to the one for Monster Hunter World (2018) and my gf was intrigued and wanted to try it out. And i was excited to see her play something besides Ark and Fallout 4, so I encouraged this. It was only 15$ on ps4 but her console badly needs its thermal paste replaced or something because it overheated and crashed repeatedly in the opening cutscene. I said, whatever, its on pc. I’ll pirate it real quick.

The first torrent I find for it is over 90gb.

The second one is a more reasonable 60 fucking gb because they ripped out the hd texture pack dlc. HM. So I download that one and after five hours it’s ready to install. The repack installer pops up a little warning “check this box to force limit the installer to 2gb of ram. If your machine has less than 8g, check this box. The install will be slower but much more stable.” That’s reasonable, I think. And my pc only has 4g. So I check the box and hit proceed.

Estimated time for install: 17 hours

I say haha okay. Well. We’re not doing that. Tell you what. Im going to look at some other games in this series real quick and if I can’t find anything decent I’ll set this to install over night. Anything for the gf!

So I do a google, and it turns out there’s another pc monster hunter game released more recently than monster hunter world! Monster Hunter Rise is only from 2022! And low and behold, the torrent is only twenty something gigabytes. It downloads in less than an hour and installs in 15 minutes. It’s already running and I’m about to start playing.

So my question is this, monster hunter fans:

WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUCK IS UP WITH MONSTER HUNTER WORLD??!?!!?!

I’m curious to how exactly a human would be presented/portrayed to the gelfling? We know that the Skeksis pretty much would see a human as a pet, but to the public how would it appear? A newly-arrived noble? A ‘civilized savage’ (because colonialism sucks)? Some tamed physical manifestation of nature (in the case of cryptid!human)? The Seladon x reader made me curious

So, were a human to arrive on Thra it would greatly depend on HOW they arrive and how much previous exposure to gelfling you've already had to determine what they are.

So were gonna choose your own adventure! 

In my AU's, the portal in which the human actually GETS to Thra isn't able to be pinpointed, so like in 3 Suns/Dark Sun's/etc etc- you wake up washed up on the coast. I'm playing with a few ideas where you wake up buried alive and just spawn out of the ground. The skeksis however, will deny any suggestion that you're from another world, if asked. They still push the "we're native too we've always ruled" agenda.

Anyways, your most likely one determines your fate!

If anyone had seen you before, especially if they were frightened by you, that was just you waking up a bit disoriented from thousand trines of slumber and walking the land as if it were new again. Anyone who saw should have looked away, and should feel privileged to see the awakening of a very old symbol of the skeksis.

2A+, 3E+, 4F+, 4E+, 4H+, 4G+ : Same as above, but you are given less free range when speaking to gelfling. You are there to look regal and that's about it. You can be cordial, just hold your tongue if the Maudren ask how you got there. If anyone heard that you put up a fight in the beginning or scared some gelfling on the way, you were simply disoriented from thousands of trine of slumber beneath Thra. 

1C+, 2C+, 3C+, 4C+: They'll have the gelfling apologizing for their own ignorance Emperor's New Clothes style. skekOk will rewrite all of history and insert you into it. You have ALWAYS been a companion of the skeksis. You have simply been slumbering for many, many, trine. You went on a cosmic voyage. Being a different kind from the skeksis, your mortal shell perished and you just now are born again. But anyways, you are Lord and the gelfling will all welcome you back. Just fake it till you make it, if you slip up it's fine, you've um... You've been asleep a while. 

5F+, 6F+, 5I+, 6I+,. 5D+, 6E+, 6I+ This part is a little more messy, but they'll use similar excuses as above. You have traversed a realm between Life, Death, and Thra itself. You have projected your mind in a cosmic voyage. That's why you're disoriented. That's why you mistakenly said you are FROM "Earth". That's why you didn't recognize gelfling, and that's why you may have scared some of them, or perhaps even been unwilling to go with the skeksis. Fear not, gelfling. You've were simply still in a sleep state, an altered state of consciousness. You're awake now. You've come to your senses.

1A=, 1C=, 3C=, 3D=, 3F=,3I=, 4D=, 4F= : It's not that they don't like you... You're just a bad liar and they can't trust you to interact with gelfling. You are paraded sometimes, shown off, but you will never converse with gelfling. The skeksis will implement social rules to forbid mortal gelfling from tainting your presence. The excuses are similar to as above. You'll get demigod status, but it'll be very lonely. If you cave and talk to one... You could seriously screw things up for you and the skeksis. I highly recommend doing it.

2A=, 2B=, 4E=:5G=, 5H=, 5I= Dungeons. Confines. You are NEVER to be seen or acknowledged by the gelfling. You do not exist. You have never existed. Whatever they saw was a trick of the light. A myth... Like the Hunter of Sami Thicket. Whether or not you're treated well depends on your status. The tamed beast who cannot be trusted to behave will always be hidden away. The consort or pet who may have frightened gelfling and is a terrible actor will simply be hidden away when gelfling are present. You'll be treated well, but you'll live your life looking over your shoulder.

6D=, 6E=, 6G=, 6H=, 6I=: YOU NEVER EXISTED. You are a product of mass Hysteria. A monster maybe, don't worry gelfling, the skeksis have killed the threat. It's fine. The skeksis will gaslight the general population like no tomorrow. You could easily topple so much faith in the oligarchy simply by letting it slip that you exist. Do with that what you will.

Well. He's theme does give the impression of what he is. A monster that is all brute strength. He doesn't need elements and such. Just his raw strength.

The original from MHP2nd aka MHF2 is Alright but it lacks a lot of the parts that make him sound so intense in his fight.

4 and 4G/4U version is the first I heard and it raised the intensity just enough to show yet again. This boy is just brute strength and he is ready to show you that and I think it shows it better then the original one did.

Iceborne version. This one raised it up and is one of the few themes I can kinda enjoy. It keeps the intensity going for most of it making it show that. "Oh shit oh fuck this boy is still really strong!" It does have one slight triumphant part in it before it starts to loop but I like to think of that as you as a hunter think. "Ha! I dodged his charge!" And he immediately turns to double back with another charge.

I heard that TOHO movie theaters were showing a brief (and exclusive?) teaser of the Monster Hunter movie. Actually they did. I remember a jungle kinda looked like Ancient Forest, a desert reminds me of Gerudo Desert(BOTW), a Dragonship, Apceros herd drinking water peacefully, and a Diablos. It came like MH4U opening cinematic and roared. But it's not a good time to visit movie theaters, I think. Please be careful of that virus.

TOHO系列の劇場で、実写版モンハンの映像がちょろっと見られると聞きました。それで先日行ってきたんですが、確かにやってた。古代樹っぽいところとか巨大な骨の突き出てる砂漠とか、砂上船とか、大量のアプケロスが水を飲んでたりとか、4Gのオープニングばりにズドドドドバァーンキェェェェをやるディアブロスなどを確認できたと思います。ただ昨今の情勢だと、映画館は感染対策とか特に気をつけた方がよさそうですよね…。
