Got up early like back in the old days 😂 and got the day going the way it should be. We just made a post to the YouTube channel and the blog on the website. The flower room is almost there and when #harvest days comes for “slice the 🥧” and that should be in about 8 days. Maybe do a live session on harvest day, witch will be early that morning. @simpleyieldsolutions support/scrog system is working well with the “dairy shake” from @sanctuaryseeds and the three #monstercropped #clones we left in here are under the #LED we just hung up the other day. These clones are using @getvulx volcanic mineral amendment witch I do believe they are loving it. We got the #exotics #transplanted into one gallon pots that we popped from @puresmokeboutique 💯 💚 - #growroom #lovetogrow #homegrown #medicalmarijuana #cannabiscommunity #extractions #live #love #life #waxroomfam https://www.instagram.com/p/B-jpIyshmmW/?igshid=12g6tu1ov4ilz

Monster Cropping or Re-Vegging Cannabis
Tumblr media
Monster cropping is a training method that allows for continuous harvests without keeping a mother plant. Clones from flowering plants become dense monsters with big yields!Read on to learn the advantages, disadvantages, and how to monster crop both indoors and outside.
Tumblr media
What is Re-Vegging Cannabis?
“Re-vegging” cannabis is what happens anytime you take a cannabis plant in the flowering (budding) stage and revert it back to the vegetative stage. Cannabis plants that are re-vegging can display strange stretchy growth and often grow round leaves with no serrations, but sometimes growers use a re-vegged plant’s unusual growth patterns to their advantage! Sometimes Cannabis Growers Re-Veg on Purpose… - Monster Cropping – Take a cannabis clone from a flowering plant, a technique that is sometimes known as “monstercropping” (more on that below!) - Harvest Plant 2nd Time – Re-grow a cannabis plant after harvest Accidental Re-Vegging A cannabis plant may be accidentally re-vegged due to various light schedule problems.- Light Leaks in the Flowering Stage – Revegging is common when flowering cannabis plants are exposed to light during their 12-hour dark period, for example, if there’s a light leak in the grow tent, or if someone is occasionally turning the light on in the closet. - Timer Not Working Properly – If your timer is somehow on the fritz, it may be giving your plants light during their 12-hour dark period, which can cause them to start reverting back to the vegetative stage. - Planting Outdoors Too Early – Putting cannabis plants outside at the wrong time of year can be a culprit. If a cannabis seedling is planted too early in the spring, it will start flowering almost immediately due to the short days but will start re-vegging when the days get longer. Wait to plant cannabis outside until mid to late spring to prevent this from happening. - Changing Hands – When a plant is sold, traded, or otherwise changes hands, it’s not unusual to see signs of re-vegging if the plant is changing light schedules
What is “Monstercropping?”
Tumblr media
It’s basically a fancy word someone came up with to describe what happens when you take a clone from a flowering cannabis plant. With this method, you don’t need to keep a mother plant to ensure continuous harvests. And, when you combine it with other forms of plant training, like ScrOG, it can help increase yields even more while cutting down on energy costs. Monster cropping can be performed indoors, outdoors, or in a greenhouse. If you grow cannabis, the following situation might sound familiar: Your tent is filled to the brim so your plants can collect all the light possible. Some plants are in the vegetative stage, a few are flowering, and there might even be one giant mother plant taking up lots of room, energy, and air. IS MONSTER CROPPING CANNABIS WORTH IT? Monster cropping may or may not work great for you. It all depends on your setup, your strains, and your experience. For instance, it doesn’t work with autoflowers and is not optimal for strains that grow very short or too slow.Training techniques that involve damaging plants, such as pruning or taking cuttings, inflict considerable stress, and thus plants will need time to recover. Because of that, methods like monster cropping are used on photoperiod cannabis strains only.Monster cropping differs in one important aspect from other high-stress techniques: It does not directly impact the growth of your current crop. Rather, you take clones from mature flowering plants, and these clones are then reverted back to veg. HOW MUCH DOES MONSTER CROPPING IMPROVE YIELDS? It's hard to give an exact figure on how much monster cropping can increase yields, as this relies on a variety of factors—your experience being one of them. Some growers recommend letting cuttings veg into large bushes before encouraging lateral growth with repeated topping/super cropping, and then placing them under a ScrOG. Although highly involved, this allows growers to manipulate clones to deliver the best-possible harvests. But aside from looking at numbers alone, don’t forget that monster cropping provides another advantage: You can harvest multiple times! This by itself is a convincing argument.
HOW LONG DOES MONSTER CROPPING TAKE?
It’s best to take your clones at about 2–3 weeks into flowering.Once you have taken your flowering clones, it will take an average of one week until they root. The re-vegging of your clones will then take (at least) another 2–3 weeks. When all is said and done, expect the process to add at least 3 weeks to your plant’s growth; and this doesn’t even factor in further topping and training. Each additional topping will add around a week to your grow.
HOW TO MONSTER CROP CANNABIS OUTDOORS
Tumblr media
Monster cropping can be done outdoors, where it provides a major advantage: If you grow in a warm climate with no frost, you can achieve two harvests in a single season! STEP 1: PLANT YOUR SEEDS If you bring out your seeds in winter, the longer nights will put your plants into flowering as soon as they emerge. If you want to extend the vegging period to add some size to your clones, you can supplement with a small light that you turn on for an hour or so every night. This interruption in the dark period will prevent your ladies from going into flower. If you grow in a climate with occasional frost in winter, keep your plants indoors under a vegging light cycle, then set them outside once there is no risk of frost. If you are able to do that early enough in the year (by February in most places) they will go back into flowering before the days get long again. If it's still too cold during this time, it's not worth the risk of killing your ladies. STEP 2: HARVEST YOUR CANNABIS Your first batch of buds will be ready to harvest in early spring before daylight savings. At the same time that you’re filling your bags, around mid-March, the days will soon be long enough for your clones to re-veg. STEP 3: SECOND GROWING SEASON Once your clones have gained mass, they will naturally progress into the flowering phase as the seasons change. This means you can harvest them at the usual time in fall. Bingo! You brought in two harvests in one growing season!Pro tip: This outdoor monster cropping method only works in climate zones where there is no risk of frost all year long, such as in Southern Europe, Southern US, etc. It won’t work in regions where you’d need to wait until late spring to plant outside.
HOW TO MONSTER CROP CANNABIS INDOORS
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT • Sharp scissors, knife, or scalpel • Alcohol wipes (to disinfect your tools) • Glass or container with water (to soak the cuttings) • Rooting gel (optional) • Rockwool cubes, perlite (optional) STEP 1: CHOOSE YOUR BEST FLOWERING CANNABIS PLANT At around week 2 of flowering, locate your best specimen—one that has grown well and tall. If you have multiple strains, you could select several cuttings from each one to see which plants turn out best. Make sure that the plants you’re taking from are healthy and not displaying any signs of illness or deficiency. STEP 2: TAKE CUTTINGS Take your scissors or knife and give it a quick wipe with alcohol to disinfect. Cleanliness will greatly help your cloning success! Go to your chosen flowering plant and select a lower branch. These usually root faster than branches on top. Swiftly cut diagonally across the stem to take the cutting. A diagonal cut provides more surface area for the cutting to take in water and nutrients, and for the roots to grow.Again, make sure you take more cuttings than you need. Expect at least 25% of your clones not to root. Disinfect your tools before each cut.
Tumblr media
STEP 3: ROOT THE CUTTINGS Immediately after taking each cutting, place the stem into the container with water. The water will seal the cut and prevent air from entering, which would otherwise kill your clone. Alternatively, you can use a rooting gel instead of water. You can leave the cutting in the container until roots appear, or you can place it into a rooting medium such as rockwool cubes or perlite. STEP 4: RE-VEG YOUR CLONES To get your clones back to a vegetative state, you need to adjust their light cycle accordingly. Most growers choose an 18/6 schedule, but anything from 18–24 hours of light will work. When your clones start to re-veg, they will grow in an odd way with round leaves and lots of branches. This strange growing phase will last for about 3–4 weeks.
Tumblr media
OPTIONAL: PLANT TRAINING Once your clone is in full vegetative growth again, this is when you can apply plant training (topping, super cropping) to encourage lateral growth even more. Your plants staying short and flat will be particularly advantageous if you plan to put them under a ScrOG. MONSTER CROPPING AND SCREEN OF GREEN (SCROG) Monster cropping is all about maximising lateral growth from shorter plants. This makes ScrOG (screen of green) the perfect method to go with it.Installing a net over the canopy will increase horizontal growth further as you weave branches through the mesh. The ScrOG will encourage an even canopy so your weed plants can make best use of available light. The result: tons of fat buds! SHOULD YOU TRY MONSTER CROPPING YOUR CANNABIS PLANTS? Taking clones, getting them to root, topping, and ScrOG aren’t exactly for the bloody beginner to cannabis cultivation. On the other hand, monster cropping may be just what experienced growers need to push production to the next level. It is one of the best ways to take full advantage of your available grow space. So, if you have the skills and are not afraid to put a knife to your cannabis, you should definitely try out monster cropping. Yesterday we installed @simpleyieldsolutions support/scrog setup on the “dairy shake” from @sanctuaryseeds and again working towards epic #canopy’s we have @getvulx working in here as well with the #monstercropped #clones we got from @goodtimesgrow420 we also took two clones from the “TS cubed” yesterday while we were working on them. Will be feeding them tomorrow there normal @advancednutrientsofficial and @organicnanoinputtechnologies mix 💯 💚 - #growroom #vegroom #lovetogrow #medicalmarijuana #cannaboscommunity #homegrown #greenthumb #live #love #life #waxroomfam https://www.instagram.com/p/B-NWJmCBI3O/?igshid=1bfkpze534gni

We just did a #defoliating of the “slice the pie” from @sanctuaryseeds we are starting to do this to ones that aren’t. Flower at the end of there second week. This is the point where we would be taking #clones and #monstercropping those. We gotta get our clone bag down first and then we will@move on to that. The bottom 1/3rd is what your looking to clear when doing this type of defoliating when in #flower 💯 💚 - #waxroomfam #growroom #medicalmarijuana #live #love #life https://www.instagram.com/p/B87F4cTBlcv/?igshid=16r66f2j666t4

These #clones are surprisingly doing awesome. Thanks to @goodtimesgrow420 for #monstercropping some solid girls for us. #outdoorgrow is gonna... well.... be solid 🎉 we do have the humidifier running and today is the most they moved in a 24 hour period so I’m assuming the roots are getting well established and we should see them shoot off here anytime. So our #monstercropping didn’t turn out so well. So we’re using the same method, tweaked a tad bit, and we took a shoot off of the #feminised #durbanpoison 45 the bottom scraped up the sides and jammed it into #coco that was pre moistened leaves were but back and some @organicnanoinputtechnologies #foliarspray was used. Let’s see what happens in the next 7-10 days. #growroom #lovetogrow #clone #vegroom https://www.instagram.com/p/B2Frei5BAr_/?igshid=ribd0all10y

The #vegroom has a few different things going on. We do have one #feminised #durbanpoison sitting in a #smartpot (5gallon) with our @simpleyieldsolutions #scrog setup. I did bring this girl into #veg after it has gone into #flower for about 2 weeks, and the veg growth has been vigorous. We also have a #gorillaglue #autoflower witchbis showing to be the best producer of #autos that I have grown. Smells #gassy and live it. Are #monstercropping test.... she’s still trying to get her roots going I think. But she is still standing on her own, I’m surprised and giddy over it. We also have two smaller autos that I think we will be ripping up. I livebhave this #vegroom back up thank you again @cunningham_bw for this led. #marijuana #homegrown #livetogrow #lovetogrow #growyourown #medicalmarijuana #420consulting #cannafarmers #closetgrowers #newgrowers #420life #growroom #waxroomfam #cannabisseeds https://www.instagram.com/p/B13lohLh2If/?igshid=fvtyctqk9v89

Feel good to have this piece of the operation back up again, the #vegroom thank you again @cunningham_bw our #scrog setup from @simpleyieldsolutions is doing just as expected. And truly does make it easy to train, getting the most out of your genetics. And that’s why we do these reviews, may work for some and not others. Seeing it in action helps with that decision. And having the #smartpots I think was key for this #scrog if it was in a regular plastic pot I just do t k ow of it would of fit. But reguardless its performing flawlessly. We’re feeding this room with #recycled water from the #dehumidifier and saving that few bucks a week helps. Are #monstercropping test seems to be ok, won’t know will we start seeing some #root action going on. I do have two new little containers I think will do well for #cloning well try next time. And the two small #gorillaglue #autoflowers don’t look so hot and maybe discarded. I didn’t like the strain so much and it could have been my “errors” just not knowing. Next round will be better. But there is one gorillaglue that’s loving #life and she sits in a 1 gallon #smartpot and honestly has done the best out of all of them I believe. We are on a 18-6 lighting and this 600 watt #bloomspect is actually doing surprisingly well. Better then my “1000 watt” led #cannabis #marijuana https://www.instagram.com/p/B1wFEUWhQzt/?igshid=1rrqpoawkm3ri

Here are some shots of the #cannabiotics #durbanpoison and our #tangie #clone. All fed there @advancednutrientsofficial full strength mix of #grow #micro and #bloom and we actually backed off the #grow to 10ml per gallon instead of 15ml/gallon. I don’t think it needs as much of it now that they are all fully into #flowering a few of these #420girls sit in #smartpots allowing better/healthier #root growth. The molasses in the mix I’m using as a sweetener. Now my normal plan was to introduce it when it was closer to the end of flowering before harvest but I believe it will do good added little by little and then up it towards the end. We did some heavy #defoliating the other day and it def shows. There is one that needs some more #love but I can’t decide if I’m gonna try #monstercropping again. #cannabis #homegrown #growyourown #livetogrow #lovetogrow #medicalmarijuana #flowerroom #420consulting #cannaconsulting #cannafarmers #420farmer #420life #onitsciences #growerschoiceseeds #subcoolseeds #waxroomfam #live #love #life https://www.instagram.com/p/B1wAMYThAIU/?igshid=1sz208edflubk
