I wrote this a while back and I couldn't stop thinking about montgomery
"so hear me out
a thought just popped into my mind and I just had to put it somewhere
rafe having pics and videos of reader while doing *the nasty*
like reader sucking his dick and some really sexual stuff
and he just doesn't care who sees it because reader belongs to him and only him
and he doesn't only do not care but he enjoys sending/showing to other guys to hype reader up and make them insanely jealous
rafe knows how fucking lucky he is to having such a hot partner and he makes sure that the whole obx knows it too.
like
what a fucking concept"
ok but what if this but with monty instead??
I can already picture it
like cmon he would be SO smug about it
and definitely an asshole
would 100% try to convince reader to let him fuck them in public (me manifesting my kink)
probably has some audio of reader moaning that he uses as his ring tone or something
will constantly brag about doing butt stuff and thigh fucking
would have a BUNCH of pictures of the marks he has left on u
his hand would ALWAYS be holding ur boobs if u have boobs wether u r in public or not
definetely an ass guy tho
probably would choose a pic of ur butt after he spanked the shit out of it for his lockscreen ;)
plz someone write this

On My Own | 13 Reasons Why

The murder
You weren't the same after what happened, I mean who could have been? Zach thought for a while he killed Bryce but he was just a part of it, the reaction to Dominos falling row by row. No one apart from Alex and Jessica knew you were there when it happened, you wanted it to be that way.
Why? Because you tried to save him, you didn't just stand there like Jessica when Bryce was pushed in the water, you tried to save him. Jessica tried to hold you back when it happened but you pushed her off and jumped in the water.
You remember the water being so cold it felt like you, yourself was dead. You would've been if you continued to try and save him that night but it was impossible, his body weight was half the size of yours, he was weak, scared, in pain and so were you; scared. He was already dead when you were trying to swim up to the surface with him but you held hope. Hope that if you can make up to the surface, you can save him but again. It was already too late, his dead weight was practically pulling you down with him till you had no choice but to let go, watching as his body sank down.
You walked home that night, you couldn't bare being in the car with his killers. As much you hated Bryce, with how much pain he caused you; the secrets, the rape, the manipulation. Everything he did to you, you should've wanted him dead more than anyone. Maybe at first but now? You wished you could've taken that thought back. He didn't deserve to die like that, and you definitely didn't deserve the trauma his death brought you.
After hearing Ani blame the murder on your ex-boyfriend Monty and his death in prison, you snapped. Liquor and drugs became your best friend, at first it was weed and Hennessy then weed got replaced with shrooms, then Molly and acid and soon it was meth, and any pill or alcohol you could get your hands on. You would even bring them to school, drinking and swallowing or injecting between classes to get by.
As you were spiraling down to a dark path, so was Clay and Zach but never Alex and Jessica. You wondered why what happened didn't affect the actual guilty but instead the accessories to murder. But then again, you stopped caring.
After Clay and Justin busted you over your drug use, you were on 24/7 watch, in fact the whole group had to watch you. Jessica and Ani would make excuses to sleep over at your house; Tyler, Clay and Justin would walk you to your classes and Tony and Zach would take turns being with you after school. That part backfired though. Soon Tony ended up getting busy with his fighting, leaving you and Zach alone all the time.
You two ended up finding comfort in each other, you two were both broken beyond repair so you two became each other's bad influence. Zach would keep secrets about your continuancely drug use and you would keep drinking with him. Drowning y'all's sorrows with any alcohol imagine and sooner rather than later, your two bad habits became intoxicated hookups.
It became a daily occurrence that you ended up finding yourself into being sexually connected with Zach more than the drugs. He was your drug but you weren't his. During the time that you were getting better, he was fucking some other Bimbo from school.
You were hurt by this, yes. But were you really that surprised that it'll happen? No. Once again you were on your own. You began using again, this time you were skipping school.
Everytime Clay went looking for you, you were at every party imaginable rather it be highschool parties at other schools, or frat parties at colleges, you were there. Always high, always shit faced, always in danger. Rather it was you being a danger to yourself or to someone else or they were a danger to you. You were just fucked up you didn't care anymore.
It was like you drowned that night with Bryce. Maybe you should have.

The night that changed everything.|Monty de la Cruz x y/n part 1.
Warnings: Bruce walker (but in my story he’s a good guy.), swearing,a little bit of smut (making out and some teasing ;) ) I think that’s it.
It was just a normal day in Liberty High School you were hanging out with your friends Jessica and Hannah until all the Jocks came over to your table Justin dating Jessica somehow meant you and your friends were now a part of the “popular” group. And as much as you HATED the jocks you didn’t mind the company.
“Hey guys.” Justin said wrapping his arm around Jess
“Hey” Hannah, Jess, And I said all at the same time.
Something felt weird the jocks seemed very quiet today, no random flirtatious things getting said to me from them like they usually would, no stupid jokes, nothing. I went to speak until I felt a certain jocks eyes on me I locked eyes with the jock. It was none other than Montgomery de la Cruz. But why was he staring at me like that? Was there something on my face or was it that I actually tried looking pretty today and he noticed?
“I’m having a pool party tonight as my parents are gone for a few days” Bryce Walker finally spoke up breaking mine and Monty’s eye contact with each other.
“Who’s down to come?” He asked the group
“Sure, Jess, Hannah?” I looked at my two friends with a soft smile.
My friends along with everyone else in the group agreed to going to the party I mean to be fair nobody ever says no to a party especially one at Bryce Walkers house. The bell rang for the last period of the day I grabbed my bag and started heading to math class which I ironically had with Montgomery.
“Wait up!” Montgomery yelled to me running up following me to class.
“Can’t walk yourself to class Montgomery?” I said jokingly a laugh following.
“I can I just…” he paused seeming a little nervous. “I just wanted to walk with you.” He said confidently.
I rolled my eyes playfully “Mhmmm” was all I could say before entering the classroom.
The afternoon went annoyingly long as I was watching the clock getting excited for the party later on tonight all while Monty decided he’d sit next me today instead of the blonde girl who seems like she has a crush on Monty. I looked at him confused as he sat in the seat next to me he just smiled at my confused look but today was not the day to sit next to me as the teacher decided the person next to us would be our partner for the entire year.
“Guess I chose the right day to sit next to you” he said with a small smirk
“Why’s that?, because I’m top of the class or because the blonde you usually sit next to isn’t exactly the smartest…” I said the last part pretty quiet but loud enough for Monty to hear.
He laughed at the last “maybe both of the options”
I laughed sarcastically and rolled my eyes playfully “Are those the only reasons?” I asked curious.
He looked away from me seeming to be nervous to answer the question
“You don’t have to answer the last part” I smiled softly at him.
Finally the bell rang and you could finally go home and get ready for the party, you packed up your things and headed out of the class you and Monty parted ways as you headed out of school to meet up with Hannah and Jessica like you always did. They both waved you down so you ran to them and like always you all walked home together.
“Guess who I got partnered up with for math for the rest of year?” I said looking at both the girls.
“Montgomery?” Jess asked not really surprised as you answered her with a yes.
“How’d you know?” I asked with surprise in my voice.
“Oh come on y/n you know he’s had crush on you since the first party we dragged you to” Hannah said with a smile
“No way, I mean he flirts with that blonde girl a lot I doubt he likes me.” I said in an annoyed tone.
“You do know that she’s just a distraction from you, right?” Both girls questioned me
“And how do you guys know that?” I questioned them this time.
“I’m dating Justin, I know a lot” Jess shot at me
“Y/n, hang out with him at the party tonight and see what happens maybe he’ll tell you he likes you” Hannah suggested
“Ugh fine” I finally caved in and we finally arrived at my house.
The two girls followed me into my house the 3 of us greeting my parents before heading upstairs to my room to get ready for the party. We always get ready at each other’s houses wearing each other’s clothes, good thing we all have the same size clothes and surprisingly the same size shoes too. I wore a black lace dress with my black bikini underneath as it was a pool party after all. Jess put my matching white crop top with a skirt and white bikini underneath and Hannah wore a flower dress with a random bikini underneath. We told my parents we were leaving and said our goodbye’s and grabbed my dad’s car keys and driving to Bryce’s.
We arrived at the party walking inside together like we always did and as soon as I saw him, Montgomery de la Cruz looking more handsome than he did at school. No I do not like him not in that way.. at least I didn’t think so.
“Ladies you finally arrived!” Bryce said walking towards us and handing us a drink each.
“Hey Bryce, thanks for the drink” I smile and take a sip of whatever the heck he poured into the red cup.
“I plan on getting fucked up tonight!” Jess said
I decided to walk to the rest of the people at party and took a seat between Monty and Zach, oh Zach Dempsey the sweet and kind jock you have had a little crush on for a while but he didn’t feel the same as he had eyes for your friend Hannah. You chugged down the rest of your drink and all you could think of was your friends telling you that Montgomery de la Cruz had a crush on you. Don’t get me wrong he’s a VERY attractive guy but he’s also a jerk to so many people and you couldn’t date someone who gets into fights almost everyday at school.. at least that’s what you thought.
“I’m gonna go into the pool, would you like to come y/n?” A voice spoke over the loud music.
I looked at the person talking to me and realised it was Monty “uhh sure..” I said shyly
I stood up and started walking towards the pool getting undressed at the same time leaving myself in my bikini.
“Don’t have sex in my pool Cruz!” Bryce yelled out
I rolled my eyes playfully “He’s not that lucky, Bryce!” I yelled with a playful laugh following it
The jocks laughed with me as I put my dress on a pool chair and finally jumped into the water. As I floated back up I saw Monty staring at me as he took his shirt off leaving himself in his shorts, I couldn’t help myself and started staring at his toned abs he obviously noticed me looking as the next thing he says before getting into the pool caught me off guard.
“I know I look hot but what happened to “he’s not that lucky”?” He said with a smirk
“What?” I blushed and looked back at his face noticing the smirk.
“Don’t pretend you weren’t just staring at my abs y/n”
“I uhh.. was not!” I laughed nervously.
“CANNONBALL!” I heard Justin yell as he jumped into the pool with us.
Monty and I both laughed at Justin and finally Jess joined us in the pool meanwhile Hannah and Zach were both hanging out in the pool house watching Alex and Scott play a stupid shooting game.
“Aw how cute two couples in the pool together” Justin joked and both mine and Monty’s cheeks turned a light pink.
“We aren’t dating” We both spoke at the same time.
“Not yet” Jess spoke up and smirked towards me
“Any of you want a drink before I join y’all?” Bryce said coming from who knows where
“Yes please” I said looking up at Bryce.
Bruce came back now shirtless with two drinks in his hand and slowly sliding into the pool with you, Jess, Justin, and Montgomery. He gave you your drink and you thanked him with a smile, an hour goes by everyone else had left the pool and you and Monty had moved to the hot tub.
“Finally we’re alone” Montgomery said breaking the awkward silence
“Don’t bother trying anything Montgomery.” You said slightly serious but slightly joking at the same time.
“Oh come on y/n you can’t resist me” he laughed and smirked
I rolled my eyes playfully and before I knew it I straddled his lap and got closer to his face
“You’re right Monty, I can’t resist you” you smirked lightly
His arms wrapped around your waist now pulling you closer (if that was even possible). “God you have no idea how much I’ve wanted this” he says before breaking the inch between you and his lips you guys made out and suddenly you felt yourself start to grind against him. He groaned at the friction that came out of nowhere you smiled against his lips and pulled away now kissing down his jaw to his neck sucking and biting as you go.
“Leaving your mark, hm?” He said with a smirk
You nodded while kissing his neck and leaving a few marks on it, he tightened his grip on your wrist and moved your body against his now hard length. A moan slipped out of your mouth at the feeling of his hard on against your clothed core.
“Yesss get it Cruz!” Yelled Justin from a far
Everyone could see you both and suddenly everything stopped as you were now embarrassed.
“Fuck y/n, why’d you stop?” He hissed
“I don’t want my first time to be in front of everyone…” you whispered to him loud enough for him to hear
“First time?” He looked at you a little shocked
“Yeah.. I’m sorry I uh should go..” you quickly got out of the hot tub leaving Montgomery by himself as you were embarrassed.

Can’t Go Back Part 24
A/N: Guess who’s back! Thank you for sticking with me. It’s been a rough several months and I think things are finally getting to a point where I can focus on my hobbies again. As always, feedback is appreciated and Character Q&As are open. Much Love -Em
I had finished the last book on my To Read shelf by mid-May. Hopping off my bed, I went over to my bookshelf. There was only one shelf of space left. The stack to shelve had gotten a tad out of hand. Sighing to myself, I sat down to start reorganizing. I pulled the books from H to Z down to fit the new additions to my collection in. My dad poked his head in when the stack fell over.
“Everything okay in here?” I was surrounded by books. Dad tried not to laugh as he took the scene in. Grabbing books, I turned back to the shelf.
“Perfect. Totally meant to sit in a sea of books this afternoon.”
“Sure. You have fun with that. I have to head into the office for a while. Tell your mother I probably won’t be home for dinner.”
“Will do.” I nodded, not turning my attention back to him.
Monty texted me shortly after I had finished the M’s. What are you up to today?
Organizing my bookshelf. I finished my TBR so now they go in the permanent collection.
Only my girlfriend would make a permanent book collection and a separate section for books that aren’t done.
Hey! Lots of people do this.
Yes honey.
What are you up to today?
Trying to study for my last History test. It’s very boring.
I’m sure it is. If you’re free Saturday, how about a get out of studying free card?
Oh? What did you have in mind Doll? I rolled my eyes and grinned. Of course he thought I meant something dirty.
Cool your jets Monty. I was going to see if you wanted to go to the bookstore with me?
I can make that happen. What time?
I think Clay and I are getting lunch to go over our study guide for the Math final. I could do like 1?
Sounds good. Do you want me to meet you at the bookstore?
Sure. I go to the B&N at the Everglade.
It’s a date.
I smiled and went back to my books.
When it was done, I snapped a picture and sent it to Justin. I finished my TBR! You know what that means?
Oh no. More books?
More books!
Do I have to come with you?
No. The parents gave me a limit of 10 books this time.
Only 10?
I have points saved up. And 10 is a perfectly reasonable amount of new books.
For you? Yes. For normal people? No.
Oh shhh, or I’ll make you come with me.
Okay, okay. It’s reasonable lol. I texted Monty a picture of my bookshelf too. He responded with a laughing emoji.
Teachers were beginning to wrap up final units and hand out study guides for finals. Justin was still mad about summer school so he kept up his not giving a shit attitude. I rolled my eyes whenever he sighed or complained about finals. And I stopped offering to help him. If he wanted to do more work in summer school, that was fine by me. It gave me more time to spend with Monty.
On Saturday, I met Clay at Rosie’s and we both got milkshakes. I wasn’t very hungry, and I didn’t want burger breath later. “So Clay, how’s Hannah doing?”
“I don’t know. We have hung out a few times, and I see her at work, but I don’t think we have hung out hung out.”
“You still haven’t asked her out?”
“I mean, we went to Jeff’s place not together, but we were both there, and I feel like maybe we connected?”
“Connected?”
“Well, we were doing… stuff… and we talked.” My eyes widened.
“Clay Jensen did you do drugs in Jeff’s basement?”
“Maybe?” I was stunned.
“Well, I’ll be damned. Clay Jensen, having fun. I never thought I’d see the day.”
“Ha ha.” He joked.
“I’m kidding! But seriously. Take the risk Clay.”
“I’ll think about it. Can we look at this study guide now?” I sighed and pulled it out of my bag. We both shuddered. This is not going to be a pretty exam.
By the time Clay and I called it an afternoon, it was 12:30. That gave me just enough time to get to the city. We packed our notes and headed outside. “Man, I really need a car.” Clay sighed, unlocking his bike.
“Your parents said no?”
“I have a bike.” He waved towards the bike.
“That you do. I would offer you a ride, but I’m headed into the city for the afternoon.”
“No worries, Addy.” He smiled. We waved goodbye and I watched as he biked down the street. I started my car and texted Monty. Leaving Rosie’s now. Might be a little late. Drive safe.
Sounds good, drive safe Doll.
I stopped at Starbucks when I got to the mall and got an iced coffee to sip while I browse and a coffee for Montgomery. He was waiting outside Barnes & Noble for me. “Hey handsome. Fancy seeing you here.” I winked as I walked up to him.
“Hey gorgeous. What can I say, thought it would be a good way to find a girl. You know what they say about the readers.”
“I have a feeling I do.” I laughed and handed him his coffee. “Something to do with being high strung, overachievers with daddy issues?”
“Somethin’ like that.” Monty took my hand and let me lead him into the bookstore. I decided I would keep my ten-book limit to myself. I knew how many points I had, and I still had birthday money left from last year.
He chuckled as I practically dragged him towards the YA section. I didn’t stop to look at the romance displays or the cookbooks or the journals. I was on a mission. There were books to buy. I sipped my coffee as I browsed. As usual, I made my way up and down the aisles quickly once to see if anything immediately caught my eye. A couple of books did, so I grabbed them to look over after I was done my power walk. “I don’t know if I’ve ever seen you move that fast.”
“Ass.” I laughed as I read over the synopsizes of the two books. Neither of them was my cup of tea in the end, so I decided to put them back. I could feel Montgomery watching me as I looked at the shelves. “What?” I asked as I pulled a book down and skimmed the back.
“Nothin’. You’re just cute is all.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah. And those shorts are very nice.” I blushed and smiled softly.
“Thanks.” I handed him the book.
“Oh, I see. You needed someone to carry the books.”
“Well, who else would I have asked, when I have my strong, athletic boyfriend to follow me around the store?” He only laughed in response. I grabbed a few more books as I sipped at my coffee. Once in a while, I would notice him watching me and turn to smile at him.
There were six books in Monty’s hands before he finished his coffee. “I’m going to throw this out. Try to leave some books for the next person, okay Bookworm?”
“I’ll try. No promises though.” I mused. By the time he came back, I had three more books. I looked up when I heard him laugh. I grinned at him and held out the books. He took them, tucked them under his arm, and stepped towards me. My brow furrowed and he reached to tuck my hair behind my ear, trailing his hand down to cup the back of my neck, and pull me towards him to kiss me. I kissed him back softly. It was nice to be able to kiss in public. I liked our little bubble. It felt like we were the only two people in the world. He pulled away first.
We continued to peruse the store for a while and stole kisses and glances along the way. Monty slid his hand in my back pocket as we walked. I grabbed another couple of books and sighed. “What’s up?”
“I guess that’s enough books for a little while.”
“For a little while? Addison. There’s like,” he paused to count, “sixteen books here.”
“Yeah. And that isn’t even all of what is on my TBR still. And it’s buy one get one half off all books.” I shrugged.
“Jesus. Crazy woman.” He muttered softly and kissed the side of my head. I sighed and turned to head for the till. After discounts, points, and birthday money, my total was twenty-five dollars.
“Now to figure out how to sneak the extra six books into the house.” I muttered as we left.
“The extra what whats?”
“Uh… nothing.” I smiled sheepishly. He shook his head playfully. “Oh, hey. Pretzels. Split one?”
“Nice change of subject. Sure. Pretzel sounds good.” He rubbed my hand as he held it. This is nice.
In late June, just as finals week was hitting its peak, tragedy struck our little group of jocks. The boys were at Bryce’s trying to blow off some steam. I was trying to be nice to him and make an effort for Justin, so I tagged along. The way his family approached and flaunted their money always took me by surprise. I wasn’t oblivious. I knew my family had more money than most. More than I liked to consider or admit. But it was never flashed around the way it was with the Walkers. I came from old money on my dad’s side, like his mom. But unlike him, I wasn’t exposed to it on a daily basis. The concept of a twice a week maid was enough to widen my eyes. The only time my family had a maid come was when Gran was coming to stay with us, or we were hosting Christmas back when all my grandparents lived state-side, so a very deep clean was needed. The fact that they had a chef come in once a week to meal prep for them was… almost incomprehensible. The only time I met a chef was when I found a hair in my food when my family went out one night.
I had been to his house before of course. I was friends with Justin. We shared custody of him most weeks. Even still, I found myself hanging back and watching the boys socialize. Or I was trying to at least. Bryce thrusting a bottle of water in my hand startled me. I jumped slightly. “Thanks.” I muttered.
“Don’t mention it.” He chuckled. He settled himself next to me and leaned back against the counter.
“Hi.”
“Hi. You know that they will talk to you, right? They know you.”
“I know.”
“Okay. I’ll talk to you then.” Great. Just what I want.
“Sure Bryce.”
“How are finals treating you?”
“I cried before my honours English final yesterday.”
“I almost forgot about my math final.”
“So, we are basically in the same boat.”
“Basically. You had bio and history today?”
“Yeah.”
“How were they?”
“I think I did fairly okay. Can you imagine what my mum would do if I bombed the history final?” He stared off into space with me and shivered.
“I would say something nice about you at your funeral.”
“Thanks Walker. Killing me does seem like a lot of hassle for that though. Like it seems like it would just inconvenience them. Maybe locked in my room to study until I’m forty?”
“True. I would text you news updates. Keep you updated in all things Bryce and the boys.”
“Prefect. Make isolation at least a little bit bearable.” He was actually kind of nice sometimes. Maybe. If I squinted.
“Yeah. My dad would have freaked if I missed my math final.”
“How could you take over the family business if you fail tenth grade math Bryce?”
“No idea. Not like he doesn’t pay someone to do all that math for him. Speaking of, he wanted me to ask you if your dad is taking on any new clients now that tax season is winding down?”
“I don’t know. I don’t think he is, but I can get him to email your dad.” I don’t think he’s going to take your dad on.
“I’ll let him know.”
“Where are you off to this summer?”
“I think we are summering in Fiji?”
“Because California isn’t summer-y enough?”
“Mom thinks the sun feels different. More sunny. I tan better in tropical environments.”
“Sure, you do.”
“What are your family’s plans?”
“We have our annual family trip to Boston at the end of July into the first week of August. Dad pushed his vacation time this year.”
“Doesn’t he own the company?”
“Yeah. But his associate wanted to take vacation in mid-July. She’s taking her kids to Disney World.”
“Again, doesn’t he own the company?”
“Again, yes. Why?”
“Shouldn’t he get first pick?”
“Well, our vacation basically costs us airfare, food, and spending money. Hers and everyone else’s costs a lot more. And requires more planning. So, he lets them have first pick and takes whatever’s left for the most part. Because of that, people are more willing to pick fairly.”
“Interesting.”
“Are you two going to come outside or not?” Justin called from the back yard. Bryce and I looked up and found the house empty. All the boys had moved to the back. We shrugged and joined them. I needed to pass the sniff test so I didn’t dare go in the pool house. Anders and Dylan were in the pool house enjoying Bryce’s stash. It was already nearing eighty degrees in the daytime. We were in for a hot summer. Justin pulled off his shirt, dropped his pants, and jumped in the pool. Shaking my head, I followed Bryce outside.
I sat on the edge of the pool and dipped my feet in the water. Monty was trying to be discreet and swim backwards towards me. He stopped just shy of me and shared a look with Zach. I pretended not to notice. It looked like I was busy watching Justin goof off with Bryce and Garrison. I was watching my boyfriend out of the corner of my eye though. I felt a wave close to my foot. “Montgomery. If you touch my foot, I’m not responsible for what happens to your face.” His hand stopped and his eyes widened. Justin laughed and called from across the pool.
“She isn’t wrong dude. She kicked me in the face when I was trying to bug her one time.”
“I wasn’t going to….” Monty trailed off.
“Sure, you weren’t.” I shook my head and moved to stand up. I pulled my tank top over my head. The shorts I was wearing were fine to go in the water.
Seeing as we had to keep up appearances, I couldn’t very well ask Monty to tighten the tie on my bikini top. That would be too much. The boys would question that. Joking around and talking to each other in a group was okay. Touching was not. “Hey Justin, do you mind?” I gestured to my back, not looking at the pool.
“He’s a little busy.” Bryce said. I could hear splashing behind me.
“Zach?”
“Sure.” He climbed out of the pool and untied the bottom strings. He pulled them tighter in a knot and doubled the bow. “Good?”
“Yeah.” I turned around. “Thanks.” Bryce whistled. Gross.
“Why are you keeping her all to yourself again?” He asked Justin. I flipped him off. Why am I being nice to you again?
“I’m not. It’s Addison. Even if I was, I don’t share Bryce.” He seemed to shut the conversation down. Only I could pick up on the stern undertone in his voice. Just as quickly as it came, it was gone, and they were back to goofing off again.
I slipped in the pool and noticing Justin was distracted, I swam over to him and jumped on his back. I may have accidentally splashed Monty in my jumping. I snuck a peek at him and he was rolling his eyes and laughing. “Chicken?” Justin asked. His hands went to my thighs unconsciously.
“No. You dropped me last time. Though it would be entertaining trying to watch the rest of you lift each other.”
“We’re strong.” The boys around me protested. They all made a show of flexing.
“Yes, yes. You’re all strong and hot. With superior athletic abilities. Go you.” I laughed.
“Ha! I told you she thinks I’m hot.” Bryce pointed at Justin.
“It doesn’t count if you’re objectively attractive Walker. I also think the blond guy from the Percy Jackson movie is hot. Because he is objectively attractive.”
“Objectively attractive?”
“You’re lucky you’re rich.” I muttered. Justin choked. “You’re a very pretty man Bryce Walker.”
“Do we get called pretty too Addison?” Monty asked.
“If you don’t call me by my full name again then sure Monty. You are also pretty. Foley, I swear if you drop me, you’re sleeping on the floor tonight.” His hand tightened around my thigh.
The group of us hung out for a while. At some point Scott joined us. Even though we weren’t friends per say, he was still nice to me when I was around. He swam over to my corner of the pool. “I’m supposed to ask you if you think I’m pretty?”
“Scott. If you don’t know you’re pretty, I don’t know what to say to you.”
“Alright then. Why was I supposed to ask?”
“I acknowledged Bryce is objectively attractive and the children felt left out.”
“I see. Why are you hiding in a corner?”
“Hiding from Justin. He’s trying to get me to play chicken. But I don’t feel like getting dropped again.”
“And why does he think you’d get to play with anyone else?”
“I think the attempt would be very entertaining actually.” There was a ringing over by the table.
“Someone’s phone is ringing.” I called. The ringing stopped and started again immediately. Zach looked up. It was his phone.
“It’s probably his mommy calling to tell him he has to come home before it gets dark.” Bryce teased. The boys laughed. I even chuckled a little to myself. Oh, how bad I would feel about that chuckle in a few hours. Zach splashed him. By the time the phone began its second round of ringing again, Zach was out of the pool and grabbing it. He was smiling when he answered it.
“Hey Mom. I’m com-.” It was quiet. “Yeah, I’ll be right home.” He hung up and quickly pulled on his pants, over his wet swim trucks. He threw on his shirt and practically sprinted back in the house. He didn’t say a word to any of us as he left.
“What’s going on with him?” Bryce said. We all stared after him.
A few hours after I got home, I got a text from Bryce. Justin got the same text. Zach’s dad died. Justin and I sat and looked at each other at the table, shocked. We sat there for a solid ten minutes, trying to absorb the information we had been given. I was sure our friends were in the same position. How did you respond to something like that? None of us had ever lost a parent. Sure, I had lost a couple of grandparents. I probably wasn’t the only one. But they’re sort of expected to die. They’re old. They’ve lived. Our parents weren’t old. Not old enough to die yet anyway. I picked my phone back up and texted Zach the only thing I could think to say. He would hear the words a lot in the next few months. I am so sorry. I knew he wouldn’t answer.
Zach wasn’t at school for the rest of the week. Not that he should have been. He had been excused from all of his other exams. Because of course he should have been. I didn’t see him until I was walking home from a date with Monty over the weekend. He was just… walking around town. He didn’t see me at first. When he noticed me standing up the street, he waved a little. I waved back and slowly walked over to him. Even though Zach Dempsey and I weren’t really friends, we were friendly. That’s why it didn’t feel weird when the only thing my brain said to do, was hug him. He didn’t cry. He didn’t say anything. He just hugged me back. We didn’t talk about that random, silent hug on the street again. Not for a long time at least. We simply nodded as we parted ways. He walked one way and I walked the other.
July changed a lot of things. Bryce left town with his family a few days after Zach’s dad’s funeral. Seth was back in town too. That meant Justin spent most of the first couple of weeks of July at my house. He was right. My parents were not happy about him doing summer school. As his not-mom my mum had a strict ‘no fun until homework is done and checked’ rule. At first, I spent my time with Monty during school hours. We weren’t really sure what the summer meant for our relationship. Those first few dates, we mostly talked about that.
“Well, I don’t want to not see you.” Monty said, between kisses in the backseat of my car. We had parked at a secluded clearing overlooking the river.
“I don’t want to not see you either. It’s going to be hard though.”
“Don’t talk about hard right now Doll. Please.” I pulled away and looked at him wide-eyed. “You don’t strike me as a public sex kind of girl. And I don’t want to get a public indecency charge.”
“Yeah. I’m not.” I sat up. “Justin being at my place complicates things.”
“Oh, I know.” He ground out as he adjusted his jeans. I could tell my cheeks were flushed.
“We knew we couldn’t see each other every day.”
“But it’s not easy not seeing you.”
“I know it’s not.”
“Why does this have to be so hard?” He sat back.
“I don’t know.” Neither of us were ready nor willing to have the ‘tell other people’ talk. Even though it had been almost a year. And probably needed to happen.
“Seeing each other while school is in, isn’t such a bad thing, is it?”
“No.”
“And I do have other friends. I could say I’m going to the city with Alex or something. Give us some more time?”
“That’s true.”
I sighed and ran my hand through my hair. “I could take you to the bookstore.” He blinked at me. “What?”
“The bookstore?”
“It’s air conditioned.” I shrugged and climbed into his lap. His hands instinctively found their way to my hips.
“You just need someone to carry your books again.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I smirked.
There was something different about Justin since he started summer school. I couldn’t put my finger on it. He was… distracted. I noticed he spent more time on his phone after homework than paying attention to what we were doing. Which was fine when it was show re-runs or my mom’s pick for movie night. But when you’re trying to play Ticket to Ride with a guy, it’s much easier when they are paying attention. “Hey. Earth to Justin. Hello?”
“Huh?” He looked up from his phone.
“It’s been your turn for the past five minutes.”
“Shit, sorry.” He looked at his cards and the map. Picking up a red and a pink from the pile, he settled back in his chair. Interesting. I frowned at the board, trying to figure out what he was doing. I came back with nothing. His phone buzzed again. I glanced at it. So did he. Then my phone buzzed. He glanced at it. So, did I. It was like we were waiting to see who would grab their phone first. After a few beats, his hand went to his phone. He smirked a little and put it down. I didn’t check mine.
I came home from a date with Monty a little late on Thursday. It was nearing five when I walked in the door, after I fixed my hair. I dropped my purse and stopped dead in my tracks. Justin had company. Company in the form of Jessica Davis. Who was currently sitting in his lap. On my couch. Making out with him. On my couch. They had their hands up each other’s shirts. On my couch. I cleared my throat. Jessica pulled away and turned towards me. “Oh, hey Addy.” She greeted, like this was normal.
“Hey Addy. You’re… just getting home?” His speech was slowed. Are you shitting me?
“Yeah. What’s going on?”
“Your parents said I could have a friend over after class.”
“Okay.” I blinked. She was still perched in his lap. I glanced at the clock. “I suggest you fix your shirts because they should be home soon. And I don’t think they want to see, uh, this.” I motioned in their general direction. Jessica laughed and climbed off Justin.
“Oh, don’t be such a priss, Addison.”
“I’m not being a priss. I just wasn’t expecting to come home to people making out on my couch.” She rolled her eyes. “Great to see you too. Hey, Justin. Can I steal you for a sec?” I waved upstairs. “There’s snacks in the cupboard, Jess.”
Justin followed me upstairs, trying not to giggle at, assumingly, the fact that he didn’t get caught by my parents. I shut the door when we got to my room. “What the fuck Justin?”
“What?” He shrugged.
“What do you mean what?”
“What?”
“Making out with a girl on our couch?” He was trying to avoid eye contact. My parents are going to kill him.
“No one was home. It’s not a big deal.”
“How long has this been going on?”
“I don’t know, a couple weeks?” I blinked at him. He was still trying to look away from me. I grabbed his face and made him look at me.
“Are you fucking high right now?”
“No? What? Why would you ask that?” His eyes were bloodshot. He was acting very much like Justin when Justin has been indulging in Bryce’s stash.
“Don’t lie to me Justin Foley. You know my parent’s rules. Do you want them to freak out?”
“Oh, come on Addison. It was a little weed. It’s not that big of a deal.” I sighed heavily.
“You know what, whatever. You obviously don’t care. So, I suggest you tell your girlfriend to leave or figure out a way to sober up before they get home. And if that fails, tell her to leave, and come hide in here until you’re sober enough to face them.” I grabbed a book off my shelf and went back downstairs. I nodded at Jessica, who had made herself some crackers and dip. Sitting at the table, I texted Monty.
Justin and Jessica? Did you know about this? He responded a couple of minutes later.
No? Actually?
Yeah. They were making out on my couch when I got home. And to make things even more awkward and complicated, they’re both high.
I mean, to be fair, weed isn’t really that bad.
Yeah. I know. But that’s not the point. My parents are going to freak. Now is really not the time to be pissing them off.
Oh crap. You guys leave for Boston soon, don’t you?
Next week. And if Justin can’t keep his shit together… I left the unspoken implication hang in cyberspace. Are you really just going to ignore the fact that they were on the couch?
I was hoping to just ignore that fact.
Our make out spots are becoming fewer and further between.
We could just stay in your bed, Doll.
But the couch has the TV. So we can not watch a movie without worrying about my laptop falling.
“Who you texting so much?” Jessica asked, trying to peer at my phone.
“Friend from Boston.” I said, locking my phone.
“Oh, friend from Boston, you say? Is he cute?”
“I guess? His girlfriend probably thinks so.”
“Oh. Not a secret long distance lover then?”
“No. And we grew up together. It would be weird.” I slipped my phone in my pocket and grabbed some cereal. We both looked up when my parents got home. I took that as my cue to go get Justin. I practically kicked him downstairs so he could go entertain his girlfriend with my parents and I could have some time to process how I missed it. Probably the same way he has missed me having a boyfriend for… almost a year.
The day before we left for Boston, Justin and I were running around like mad men. I had plans with Monty and Justin had plans with Jessica tonight, so I didn’t want to be too long packing. Unfortunately, neither of us could find anything we wanted to bring. It was going to be nice so I wanted to bring some dresses. We had a few things planned, but like with our other trips, there would be plenty of time to lounge around the house.
“Have you seen my pink and green dress?”
“The one with the stripes? No. Have you seen my blue shirt?”
“I think mum put it in the wash.”
“Okay.” Justin went down the hall to the bathroom. “Has anyone seen my shampoo?” He called.
“It’s in here.” My dad called from their room. I was busy ripping apart my closet. I groaned in frustration.
“You know, it’s just Boston. We go every year.”
“I know Justin. I just like to be prepared for every eventuality.”
“Yeah. Wait… are you trying to impress Adrian?” Justin laughed. I turned and he was leaning against the doorframe.
“No. Absolutely not. Besides, he has a girlfriend.” A girlfriend I happen to like.
“If you say so.” He smirked. I rolled my eyes and flipped him off as he went back to packing his bag. I gave up on my closet and decided to tackle our toiletries. I wasn’t too concerned with travel sizes because it was all going in my checked luggage.
“Decide what book you’re taking with you Addy?”
“Don’t you mean books, plural? It is a 6-hour flight after all.” He laughed.
“Okay, okay. Books?”
“I’m happy you asked.” I grinned as I pulled out the Barnes & Noble bag from under my bed. His jaw dropped. I shrugged.
“Your parents are going to freak.”
“They know I went book shopping.”
After a very long day of packing, Justin left to go meet Jessica. I texted Monty to let him know I would be leaving in about fifteen minutes. “I’m going to hang out with Alex and Clay for a bit.” I told my parents.
“Just remember we leave early tomorrow for the airport Addison.” My dad said, not looking up from his list. My mom was emptying the fridge.
“I will.”
When I got to the cliffside where we agreed to meet, Monty was waiting for me. I couldn’t help myself. I ran and held onto him like it was the last time I would ever see him. “You’re only leaving for two weeks Addison.” He grunted at the impact.
“I’m going to miss you.”
“I’ll miss you too.” He kissed the top of my head. We stood like that for a few more minutes before finally separating. I took his hand and led him up the trail. It was good for both of us to be walking the trails. He was starting summer training with the boys while we were gone, and I was going to be sitting for around 8 hours straight tomorrow. Provided our flight wasn’t delayed, of course. It was just starting to get dark, and I stopped along the way to take in the town’s skyline in the evening dusk. Monty rested his chin on top of my head, and I sighed, leaning back into him. It was so peaceful. I looked up and him and noticed a small bruise forming on his jaw. Not wanting to start a fight right before I left for two weeks, I pretended I hadn’t seen it. I smiled sadly to myself still. I wish he would just talk to me about it.
After a few hours, wandering around and soaking in the last time we would have for a couple of weeks, which feels like an eternity when you’re 16, we knew it was time to say goodbye. When we got to the parking lot, he made me turn around at his Jeep. I furrowed my brow. Before I could ask, he twirled his finger in the air. I clamped my mouth closed and turned. He rummaged around for a minute. “What are you doing?”
“You’ll see. Just wait a minute.” I huffed. He chuckled. “Ah.” He muttered. He tapped me on the shoulder. I turned. He held out a small Barnes and Noble bag. I was taken aback. I wasn’t expecting anything. I pointed at the bag and then at me.
“F-for me?”
“It’s not much so don’t start.” He smiled, shyly.
“Okay.” I took the bag.
“I can’t wrap stuff worth shit, so the bag is as good as you’re going to get.” I laughed and shrugged. It was a fair enough explanation. I opened the bag and pulled out a spiralbound notebook. The cover was pink with the titles of all the classics on it. I smiled. “You won’t be here for your birthday, and I know your notebook is getting full so….” Monty trailed off.
“Thank you. This is really sweet.” I flipped it open and gasped. On the first page, he had drawn a book like on the cover, and titled it The Next Classic and written Hawthorne at the bottom where the author’s last name sometimes appears.
“Happy birthday, Addison.”
“Oh.” I smiled. My eyes had started to tear up. This was the sweetest gift anyone had ever given me. I closed the gap between us and kissed him. He pulled me closer to him and I deepened the kiss just a little. Not too much, just enough to make him remember me while I was gone.I had finished the last book on my To Read shelf by mid-May. Grabbing books, I turned back to the shelf.“Perfect. Totally meant to sit in a sea of books this afternoon.” “Sure. You have fun with that. I have to head into the office for a while. Tell your mother I probably won’t be home for dinner.” “Will do.” I nodded, not turning my attention back to him. I was going to see if you wanted to go to the bookstore with me?I can make that happen. What time? I think Clay and I are getting lunch to go over our study guide for the Math final. I could do like 1?Sounds good. Do you want me to meet you at the bookstore? Sure. I go to the B&N at the Everglade. It’s a date. I smiled and went back to my books. When it was done, I snapped a picture and sent it to Justin. I finished my TBR! You know what that means?Oh no. More books? More books! Do I have to come with you?No. The parents gave me a limit of 10 books this time. Only 10?I have points saved up. “So Clay, how’s Hannah doing?” “I don’t know. We have hung out a few times, and I see her at work, but I don’t think we have hung out hung out.” “You still haven’t asked her out?” “I mean, we went to Jeff’s place not together, but we were both there, and I feel like maybe we connected?” “Connected?” “Well, we were doing… stuff… and we talked.” My eyes widened. “Clay Jensen did you do drugs in Jeff’s basement?” “Maybe?” I was stunned. “Well, I’ll be damned. Clay Jensen, having fun. I never thought I’d see the day.”“Ha ha.” He joked. “I’m kidding! But seriously. Take the risk Clay.” “I’ll think about it. Can we look at this study guide now?” I sighed and pulled it out of my bag. We both shuddered. This is not going to be a pretty exam.By the time Clay and I called it an afternoon, it was 12:30. That gave me just enough time to get to the city. We packed our notes and headed outside. “Man, I really need a car.” Clay sighed, unlocking his bike. “Your parents said no?” “I have a bike.” He waved towards the bike. “That you do. I would offer you a ride, but I’m headed into the city for the afternoon.” “No worries, Addy.” He smiled. Fancy seeing you here.” I winked as I walked up to him.“Hey gorgeous. What can I say, thought it would be a good way to find a girl. You know what they say about the readers.” “I have a feeling I do.” I laughed and handed him his coffee. “Something to do with being high strung, overachievers with daddy issues?” “Somethin’ like that.” Monty took my hand and let me lead him into the bookstore. “I don’t know if I’ve ever seen you move that fast.” “Ass.” I laughed as I read over the synopsizes of the two books. Neither of them was my cup of tea in the end, so I decided to put them back. I could feel Montgomery watching me as I looked at the shelves. “What?” I asked as I pulled a book down and skimmed the back. “Nothin’. You’re just cute is all.” “Oh?” “Yeah. And those shorts are very nice.” I blushed and smiled softly. “Thanks.” I handed him the book. “Oh, I see. You needed someone to carry the books.”“Well, who else would I have asked, when I have my strong, athletic boyfriend to follow me around the store?” He only laughed in response. I grabbed a few more books as I sipped at my coffee. Once in a while, I would notice him watching me and turn to smile at him. There were six books in Monty’s hands before he finished his coffee. “I’m going to throw this out. Try to leave some books for the next person, okay Bookworm?” “I’ll try. “What’s up?” “I guess that’s enough books for a little while.” “For a little while? Addison. There’s like,” he paused to count, “sixteen books here.” “Yeah. “The extra what whats?” “Uh… nothing.” I smiled sheepishly. He shook his head playfully. “Oh, hey. Pretzels. Split one?” “Nice change of subject. “Hi.” “Hi. You know that they will talk to you, right? They know you.” “I know.” “Okay. I’ll talk to you then.” Great. Just what I want. “Sure Bryce.” “How are finals treating you?” “I cried before my honours English final yesterday.” “I almost forgot about my math final.” “So, we are basically in the same boat.” “Basically. You had bio and history today?” “Yeah.” “How were they?” “I think I did fairly okay. Can you imagine what my mum would do if I bombed the history final?” He stared off into space with me and shivered. “I would say something nice about you at your funeral.” “Thanks Walker. Killing me does seem like a lot of hassle for that though. Like it seems like it would just inconvenience them. Maybe locked in my room to study until I’m forty?” “True. I would text you news updates. Keep you updated in all things Bryce and the boys.” “Prefect. Make isolation at least a little bit bearable.” He was actually kind of nice sometimes. Maybe. If I squinted.“Yeah. My dad would have freaked if I missed my math final.” “How could you take over the family business if you fail tenth grade math Bryce?” “No idea. Not like he doesn’t pay someone to do all that math for him. Speaking of, he wanted me to ask you if your dad is taking on any new clients now that tax season is winding down?” “I don’t know. I don’t think he is, but I can get him to email your dad.” I don’t think he’s going to take your dad on. “I’ll let him know.” “Where are you off to this summer?” “I think we are summering in Fiji?” “Because California isn’t summer-y enough?” “Mom thinks the sun feels different. More sunny. I tan better in tropical environments.” “Sure, you do.”“What are your family’s plans?” “We have our annual family trip to Boston at the end of July into the first week of August. Dad pushed his vacation time this year.” “Doesn’t he own the company?” “Yeah. But his associate wanted to take vacation in mid-July. She’s taking her kids to Disney World.” “Again, doesn’t he own the company?”“Again, yes. Why?” “Shouldn’t he get first pick?” “Well, our vacation basically costs us airfare, food, and spending money. Hers and everyone else’s costs a lot more. And requires more planning. So, he lets them have first pick and takes whatever’s left for the most part. Because of that, people are more willing to pick fairly.” “Interesting.”“Are you two going to come outside or not?” Justin called from the back yard. She kicked me in the face when I was trying to bug her one time.” “I wasn’t going to….” Monty trailed off. “Zach?” “Sure.” He climbed out of the pool and untied the bottom strings. He pulled them tighter in a knot and doubled the bow. “Good?” “Yeah.” I turned around. “Thanks.” Bryce whistled. Gross.“Why are you keeping her all to yourself again?” He asked Justin. Though it would be entertaining trying to watch the rest of you lift each other.” “We’re strong.” The boys around me protested. Because he is objectively attractive.” “Objectively attractive?” “You’re lucky you’re rich.” I muttered. Justin choked. “You’re a very pretty man Bryce Walker.” “Do we get called pretty too Addison?” Monty asked.“If you don’t call me by my full name again then sure Monty. “I’m supposed to ask you if you think I’m pretty?” “Scott. If you don’t know you’re pretty, I don’t know what to say to you.” “Alright then. Why was I supposed to ask?” “I acknowledged Bryce is objectively attractive and the children felt left out.” “I see. Why are you hiding in a corner?” “Hiding from Justin. He’s trying to get me to play chicken. But I don’t feel like getting dropped again.” “And why does he think you’d get to play with anyone else?” “I think the attempt would be very entertaining actually.” There was a ringing over by the table. He didn’t say a word to any of us as he left.“What’s going on with him?” Bryce said. It’s going to be hard though.” “Don’t talk about hard right now Doll. Please.” I pulled away and looked at him wide-eyed. “You don’t strike me as a public sex kind of girl. And I don’t want to get a public indecency charge.” “Yeah. I’m not.” I sat up. “Justin being at my place complicates things.” “Oh, I know.” He ground out as he adjusted his jeans. I could tell my cheeks were flushed. “We knew we couldn’t see each other every day.” “But it’s not easy not seeing you.” “I know it’s not.” “Why does this have to be so hard?” He sat back. “I don’t know.” Neither of us were ready nor willing to have the ‘tell other people’ talk. Even though it had been almost a year. And probably needed to happen. “Seeing each other while school is in, isn’t such a bad thing, is it?” “No.” “And I do have other friends. I could say I’m going to the city with Alex or something. Give us some more time?” “That’s true.” I sighed and ran my hand through my hair. “I could take you to the bookstore.” He blinked at me. “What?” “The bookstore?” “It’s air conditioned.” I shrugged and climbed into his lap. His hands instinctively found their way to my hips. “You just need someone to carry your books again.” “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I smirked. Hello?”“Huh?” He looked up from his phone. “It’s been your turn for the past five minutes.” “Shit, sorry.” He looked at his cards and the map. “Yeah. What’s going on?” “Your parents said I could have a friend over after class.” “Okay.” I blinked. She was still perched in his lap. I glanced at the clock. “I suggest you fix your shirts because they should be home soon. And I don’t think they want to see, uh, this.” I motioned in their general direction. Jessica laughed and climbed off Justin. “Oh, don’t be such a priss, Addison.” “I’m not being a priss. I just wasn’t expecting to come home to people making out on my couch.” She rolled her eyes. “Great to see you too. Hey, Justin. Can I steal you for a sec?” I waved upstairs. “There’s snacks in the cupboard, Jess.” Justin followed me upstairs, trying not to giggle at, assumingly, the fact that he didn’t get caught by my parents. I shut the door when we got to my room. “What the fuck Justin?” “What?” He shrugged. “What do you mean what?” “What?” “Making out with a girl on our couch?” He was trying to avoid eye contact. My parents are going to kill him. “No one was home. It’s not a big deal.” “How long has this been going on?” “I don’t know, a couple weeks?” I blinked at him. He was still trying to look away from me. I grabbed his face and made him look at me. “Are you fucking high right now?” “No? What? Why would you ask that?” His eyes were bloodshot. He was acting very much like Justin when Justin has been indulging in Bryce’s stash. “Don’t lie to me Justin Foley. You know my parent’s rules. Do you want them to freak out?” “Oh, come on Addison. No? Actually?Yeah. Are you really just going to ignore the fact that they were on the couch?I was hoping to just ignore that fact. Is he cute?”“I guess? His girlfriend probably thinks so.” “Oh. Not a secret long distance lover then?”“No. “Have you seen my pink and green dress?” “The one with the stripes? No. Have you seen my blue shirt?”“I think mum put it in the wash.” “Okay.” Justin went down the hall to the bathroom. “Has anyone seen my shampoo?” He called. “It’s in here.” My dad called from their room. I was busy ripping apart my closet. I groaned in frustration. “You know, it’s just Boston. We go every year.” “I know Justin. I just like to be prepared for every eventuality.” “Yeah. “Decide what book you’re taking with you Addy?” “Don’t you mean books, plural? It is a 6-hour flight after all.” He laughed. “Okay, okay. Books?” “I’m happy you asked.” I grinned as I pulled out the Barnes & Noble bag from under my bed. His jaw dropped. I shrugged. “Your parents are going to freak.” “They know I went book shopping.” After a very long day of packing, Justin left to go meet Jessica. “I will.” When I got to the cliffside where we agreed to meet, Monty was waiting for me. I couldn’t help myself. I ran and held onto him like it was the last time I would ever see him. “You’re only leaving for two weeks Addison.” He grunted at the impact. “I’m going to miss you.” “I’ll miss you too.” He kissed the top of my head. “What are you doing?” “You’ll see. Just wait a minute.” I huffed. He chuckled. “Ah.” He muttered. He tapped me on the shoulder. I turned. He held out a small Barnes and Noble bag. I was taken aback. I wasn’t expecting anything. I pointed at the bag and then at me. “F-for me?” “It’s not much so don’t start.” He smiled, shyly. “Happy birthday, Addison.” “Oh.” I smiled. My eyes had started to tear up. This was the sweetest gift anyone had ever given me. I closed the gap between us and kissed him. He pulled me closer to him and I deepened the kiss just a little. Not too much, just enough to make him remember me while I was gone.

Monty was sitting on the cold ground, hugging his bike, an old man approached him, he was dirty and seemed homeless, Monty was frightened by his sight, but the man moved his hands in a peaceful gesture “what are you doing here, son?” the man asked “I’m not your son” the young one said aggressively “alright, alright, are you hungry?” Monty wanted to tell him to fuck off but the growl in his stomach gave him away, the man took out a well wrapped sandwich and gave it to Monty, it had Subway’s logo on it, he hesitated but the man encouraged him to take it.
Monty took it and thanked him, taking the first bite, he eventually found himself finishing the sandwich while the man watched “I'm sorry, I should’ve asked you if you wanted some” he said guiltily “it’s alright, I already ate lunch, I can survive until my next meal” Monty frowned, the man was homeless and he ate his dinner “I’m Monty” Monty mumbled “well, nice to meet you Monty, I’m Steven but everyone calls me Steve” the friendly old man offered with a smile “are you here all alone?” Monty nodded.
---
Estella returned sometime around 7 p.m., alone, she had noticed the broken plates and immediately went to check on her brother, who was panting in his bed with pain and… crying? Was Monty crying? “Monty?” she asked, he immediately wiped off his tears and forced a straight face “what happened?” she asked, he shook his head “just being dad, I’ll clean up the mess” he said calmly “it’s okay I got it this time, are you okay?” she asked worriedly, he nodded and put on the fakest smile “Monty… you can talk to me, please don’t carry the burdens of the world on your shoulders, you are not alone”
“well, I fucking can’t Estella, who on earth could carry the weight of my pain? You? You are barely holding it together yourself! Winston? Well, guess what? He’s probably more fucked up than I’m! My friends who will ditch me the moment I hold Winston’s hands? Or perhaps mom? The only person who was strong enough for my shit is fucking dead!” he said, remembering Steve, the parent he deserved, the friend who passed away last year, the one he found laying coldly on the ground and no one but him gave a damn that he was gone.

Don’t mess with her boyfriend | Montgomery de la Cruz
Requested by anon (a while ago) : You & your blog are both amazing I have so much love❤️ could u pretty pls do a Monty x reader, her ex comes back to Liberty and approaches her trying to get back together totally ignoring Monty’s presence, obviously Monty gets annoyed and tells him to get lost, her ex starts dissing Monty.. let’s just say she’s a feisty one and nobody messes with her baby EVER, so she starts defending him and maybe even throws in a slap lol but that’s your call to make.. xx
Word count : 1.1k words.
Tumblr media
As you walked inside the crowded hall of Liberty, you felt some students weirdly stare at you but you just ignored it and walked over to your locker to get your books out for the day. You had a lot to do this week including convincing your parents to let you go to Jessica’s party on Friday. You were so deep in your thoughts until somebody pulled you out of them.  “Hey babygirl” You smiled and leaned back until your back gently collided with your boyfriend’s chest as he wrapped his arms around your waist. “I missed you.” He whispered to your ear before kissing your cheek. You turned around, grabbing the front of his shirt to steady yourself and kissed him, soft and slow.
“De la Cruz, (Y/L/N), lay it off!” Kevin Porter shouted from across the hall, dragging the attention of most students around on you. Nothing unusual.
“I missed you too.” You whispered against his lips before moving away to close your locker. By the time you turned around, your eyes landed on somebody who shouldn’t have been in Liberty. “You have to be kidding me…”
“And that’s what I wanted to tell you.” Montgomery sighed.
Your mood went from extremely happy, even though nobody is extremely happy on a Monday morning, to extremely angry within the matter of seconds. Standing a few feet away from you, with the rest of the jocks, was your ex boyfriend, the person you hated the most on earth, Noah.
Jessica introduced you to Noah at a party over the summer before sophomore year. It didn’t take long before you started dating. You spent the whole summer together. And you did that terrible mistake of trusting him and giving yourself to him. You were in love. Or so you thought. By the end of summer, Noah moved across the country with his parents. A decision he knew about for months but never told you about. You got the news on the first day of school when Zach and Justin asked you about how you were going to manage a long distance relationship. It didn’t hit you right away. It hit you when you saw a new guy on the field with Noah’s number. It hit you when you texted him and he simply told you that he didn’t think it was that big of a deal to tell you. It hit you when everybody at school was talking about you. You went through the first half of sophomore year secluding yourself in the Library, studying and keeping yourself from seeing anybody. You were ashamed of how naive you were to trust Noah like that.
One day, while you were busy finishing your Spanish paper, Montgomery pulled the chair next to yours and loudly crashed on it. “Shhhhh!” Someone angrily looked at him.
“The fuck you want nerd?”
He was about to stand up and fight that innocent soul for hushing him that way when you grabbed him hand to stop him. “Don’t.” And he didn’t. He just glared at the young boy and looked at you. You didn’t even stop what you were doing. “What are you doing here? I’ve never seen set a foot in here before.”
“Wanted the test the ambiance.”
You chuckled shaking your head. “What do you think about it so far?”
“Sucks.”
“And how about you tell me the real reason why you’re here?”
“I got an essay to finish.”
“Liar.”
“I am worried about you.” Your head shot up in surprise. His signature smirk was replaced by a rather concernes expression. “You never leave this place unless you go home or to class.” At least in the school library nobody judged you, too busy studying.
“I wanna pass. Is there a problem with this?”
“You’re a straight A student, you don’t need to put efforts to get the highest grades.”
“Maybe I do now.”
“Liar.”
“Get out if you have so much to tell each other. People are trying to study here.” Another student loudly whispered to you.
And you got out. You didn’t need people to notice you there. Montgomery followed you until you suddenly stopped and turned around to face him. “I am fine Monty.”
“Are you gonna keep lying to my face like that all day?”
“People keep talking about me, Monty. I hear them.” You sighed. “All the time and trust me, they’re not gonna drop the hottest tea in town so easily.”
“Let’s give them another one.”
“What?” The bell started ringing right at that moment and students were rushing out of class, filling the once empty hall you were standing in. At that exact moment, when some of them spotted you probably for the first time in days -or weeks-, Montgomery did something unexpected. He quickly closed the distance between you and pressed his lips to yours in a gentle and slow kiss. It took you one second to realize Montgomery was kissing you and another second to realize you were kissing him back. That was it. That was right. And that was nearly two years ago.
“What the fuck is he doing here?” You asked your boyfriend without looking away from Noah’s tall figure that could be spotted from miles away. Your blood was boiling inside of you.
Before Montgomery could say anything to try and calm you down, Noah saw you and walked over to you. “Hey baby, missed me?” His hand went to touch your cheek but you stepped back avoiding it. “Come on, I know you did.”
“How about you leave my girlfriend alone Carter?” Montgomery came to stand between the two of you.
“You replaced me with this poor latinx (Y/N/N)? You know you can do better.” He was completely ignoring Montgomery’s words and pushed him to the side to get closer to you. “We can start over beautiful.”
“Fuck off, Carter.” A crowd was slowly forming aroun the three of you and the boys came right away to hold Montgomery back. But he wasn’t the one who needed to be held back.
Noah looked at Montgomery who was trying to free himself from Jeff’s hold and chuckled. ’“Look at this attack dog, he can’t do anything but get into fights. What kind of future do you think he can give you?”
No one had the time to make a move that your knee collided with his crotch and as he bent down in pain, your forehead violently collided with his nose, making him fall in pain, blood flooding out of his nose. “Wanna say that again asshole?”
Next thing you knew, you were sitting in front of the honor board under the very disappointed gaze of Mr Porter. You didn’t speak, holding the icepack the school nurse gave you against your forehead on which a bump and a bruise were forming while Noah was sitting on the chair next to yours, blood still dripping out of his nose and on his white t-shirt. It didn’t take long for the honor board to come to the conclusion that you were the one to be blamed for everything and got you suspended for two days.

The Louvre - Monty de la Cruz x Reader // Part One
Request - “can you make a imagine with Montgomery based on “The Louvre -Lorde"”
A/N: The other half of this request will be done soon! (This request did jump the queue a little due to the fact that they are all Jeff requests and the last few I’ve posted have been Jeff so I wanted to section them up a little.) This is my first 1st person imagine- let me know what you think!
[[
Here’s the thing. It wasn’t until it was too late that I realised how far gone my feelings were. Although there’s no denying the boy looks like he was crafted by Aphrodite, I was never really a looks girl. I know, I know, cliché as fuck- but it’s true. So, the boy annoyed me. Sue me. And his looks were never enough to make me see past that. I hated everything he stood for and the teenage grind he bought into. Of course, I knew nothing about him and was being my usual judgemental self.
To start, I’d always found it odd that he took Art. Again, I was stereotyping the baseball star. That was the first seed I guess, planted way before the rest. The next was the fact that he actually enjoyed art, and the care he took with his pieces. Every single thing he produced was meticulously fawned over with each brush stroke and paint mix. Sometimes I’d catch myself watching, from behind a canvas, the way in which he performed. And it was - a performance I mean. I couldn’t even begin to explain it in a way that gave it any kind of justice.
It got a bit tricky after that. There wasn’t any helping the fact that i kept seeing him around with his sickening cronies putting into action their perfected formula for popularity. I was far too salty about clique culture because I never fit into it, but that’s for another time. The thing was - I noticed the falters. The falls of face, the glances around as if to say ‘I need something more.’, and the escapes; ‘Miss is keeping me back to finish my art, sorry man.’ Which I knew were complete lies. That was the next thing that kept me intrigued in the boy who was my anti-type.
Well, Summer slipped us underneath her tongue,
When it came around to summer, everyone was feeling the shift. Honestly, that’s where it really started for me. I was too consumed in the summery romanticist haze to notice what was happening. Like I said, until it was too late.
Montgomery de la Cruz painted in the most gentle fashion, no one would ever expect. He was a firecracker, always lit at one end, just waiting ‘til he’d burned all the way down and exploded. Fights or shouting matches were frequent occurrences for the boy, which was part of the reason I’d avoided him before. This, really, was the main factor in my confusion of Monty (as his friends liked to refer to him) taking art. I later realised it was a tactic to calm him down, keep him on the surface. So long as his head was above the water, the fire could be extinguished just enough to last a period of time. Problem was - small things dunked him back under and BOOM. All. Burned. Up.
Truthfully? I was embarrassed. I’d fallen for a guy I’d outwardly dissed for so long, I couldn’t even admit it for the longest time.
But anyway, it started one Art lesson in late May, when our teacher said we’d be doing a partner sculpture for the rest of the year. As you’ve guessed, I got paired with Monty. The first few times we planned our sculpture we didn’t really speak, aside from about the task. It was a little awkward, but I hadn’t expected anything otherwise.
“I thought maybe he’d have *something* going for him other than the temper, but he’s so boring. I am continually bored out of my mind when I’m with him.” I’d ranted one day to Jess and Hannah as we sat on the bleachers eating lunch. That was the start of the lies, because I’d already mentally determined that this boy was intriguing as hell, but I had to set them off my trail. Except, Hannah had given me the; ‘i know you’ look, so she became my one confidant in the Montgomery situation.
“This text, I know it’s only about the project but I can’t help but read too much into it.” I sighed.
“I’ve said it many a time, and I’ll say it many more, he definitely has the hots for you.” Hannah shoved me gently.
“I don’t know, It’s just a stupid one sided crush…”
I overthink your punctuation use,
Which brings us to this day, In which i met Monty once more to work on our project. A nervous rap on the door indicated him of my presence.
I wasn’t entirely sure how he’d be today. Sometimes, usually, he was quiet and we only spoke ideas and plans, but other times, more recently, he’d started asking me questions about myself. Randomly. The other day we’d been sketching plans and he’d blurted out; “what’s your favourite sport?” And we’d had a fairly long conversation discussing that and his baseball playing.
“Hey.” He smiled at the doorway. I hadn’t noticed him open it so I jumped slightly.
“Hello!”
As usual, we stayed quiet for the first half.
“Do you some drinks? Mum bought a six pack but she doesn’t like them, said we could have them.” He asked awkwardly after some time.
“Like, with alcohol?” I giggled, feeling naughty at the thought of day-drinking with Montgomery de la Cruz.
“Uh…no.” He grinned a boyish smile, affection washing over his face. “Sadly. But I can buy some  to bring along tonight?”
“Tonight?” There was probably a party I wasn’t invited to. How embarrassing.
“Bryce’s. You should totally come.” He chewed on his pencil absentmindedly.
“I don’t think I was invited…” despite my hoping for it to go away, my profuse blushing was obviously apparent.
“Bryce doesn’t do guest lists, he’ll let anyone in.” Well, that sure makes me feel wanted. But really, the fact that Monty mentioned it in the first place was sending me over the moon.
And I’d already decided the look he was giving me meant I was going.

DON'T EVEN START WITH ME, WINSTON.
for @ticklish-sidekick 💙
rating: M
a/n: so this is my attempt on writing this kind of au. sorry, i had to (*) some letters/words to avoid this post from getting banned. anyway, hope you like it. enjoy! *grabs my things and runs away*
Blackness welcomed Winston as soon as he regained consciousness. He couldn't see. He felt blind. He tried to move only to feel his wrists locked onto something. And also his legs. He rattled it, grunted and groaned as he struggled, slowly realizing what's going on. He's tied up to what he could make up as a bed, feeling the soft fabric of the cloth against his back.
F*ck! Who tied him here? How the hell did he end up—
"Ooh, someone's finally awake."
Winston stopped, and shuddered as a cold wind blew past him. Is he naked?
And he knew that voice so well. "M-Monty?"
Monty smirked.
Now he remembered. Monty really made sure everything's ready for tonight. F*ck, if he only knew it would led to this.
It started with a simple banter a few nights ago after their great lovemaking - they see each other every Friday night - which ended with Winston challenging Monty by telling him these exact words: "I bet there's no way you can ever embarrass me. I never lose my cool."
Monty propped himself by the elbow, looking at him daringly. "Oh yeah? Are you challenging me?"
Giving a side glance and a lopsided smile, Winston said, "Maybe."
And he's now regretting it for the rest of his life.
He didn't even know how Monty was able to pull this off, to tie him up, though.
Oh yeah, Monty unusually asked to meet up here in his place earlier, and on a Wednesday night - and Winston was a fool for not questioning him what's up. As if meeting in the middle of the school week wasn't suspicious enough. They had a little innocent chat, mostly about their boring school days. They kissed and drank a little. Or had he drank too much? Or did Monty put something in his drink?
F*ck, if he only knew why Monty asked to meet him tonight.
Winston tried to suppress his smile.
"What's this?"
"A little game."
"A little game," Winston repeated.
"Uh huh. A game of 'let's see if the great Winston Williams never loses his cool.'"
Winston cackles. "Really? This. This is your idea?"
"Uh huh."
"To tie me up… This is hostage."
"No, it's not. I told you it's a game. If you win then I'll let you go and if you lose…"
Winston felt his stomach churn by the obvious dare in Monty's voice. "What?"
"You know what they do to the one who loses. They get punished."
‘Sounds kinky,’ Winston thought. But he better put his guard up, which was ironically impossible at the moment, being all tied up.
"So, how is this going to embarrass me?"
"First, you're completely naked on your bed, tied up. And second…" He felt Monty pacing towards him. Winston fidgeted a bit, trying to hide his nervousness.
"This," Monty continued, when a soft ticklish thing landed on his chest and crawled down his abdomen.
Winston took a deep breath. He didn't know how this was going to embarrass him when it's exciting him. He never knew Monty had this kinky side. Or could be that he's getting all of these wrong when Monty said, "Let's see if you could still keep your cool, Mr. Williams."
And it's when Monty started to stroke the thing softly on his side, making him jerk.
"What the hell?"
But his boyfriend ignored him and started  tickling him, forcing an uncontrollable laughter out of his mouth and it sounded ugly.
"Mo-Monty—! S...sto-hap!" He cried between laughter. But Monty, he was merciless; he continued, ignoring his pleas.
So, this is what he's talking about making me lose my cool.
If before, he thought of this whole thing as exciting -  sexy even - he despised it now.
"I swear…" Winston was unable to finish his sentence as he laughed and snorted, but he tried, "I… f*ck *laugh* swear *laugh*"
This time Monty finally stopped. Winston never thought the threat would work. Sharp gasps bursted out of him as he regained himself.
"You saying something, mister?"
F*cking Monty and his sexy voice.
"I swear I'd kill you when-baha!ha!ha!" Monty began attacking him again… With deadly tickles… on his armpits, catching him off guard. He thought he scared Monty with his empty threat earlier. But yeah, he should've known better.
PLEASE STOPPPP!
"What? I can't quite understand you right now. Sorry."
It lasted for a few minutes when Monty stopped again.
"Stop… please!" Winston pleaded, his chest heaving as he caught his breath.
"Oh, only if you admit that you're embarrassed right now."
Winston knew Monty was smiling victoriously. So, no, he wouldn't let him win.
"I would. IF you let me go."
"Not happening." Then Monty started the torture again and worse of all, on his feet. He had a strong tickle there.
Winston squirmed, laughed, wheezed and struggled, thinking of a way to escape. He swore he would pay Monty back: he'd tie him up, put a penis gag on his mouth and tickle the life out of him. He swear—
"Oh, he's got a strong tickle in his feet."
"Mo-hoho-nty! Pl-hihihi-ease!!!"
"Speak clearly please! I really can't understand you." And the asshole even laughed.
Winston felt his breath hitch when the thing touched him between his legs. He didn't know if he should laugh but everything tickled so he's laughing,  embarrassing himself in front of the guy who wanted to see him embarrassed. F*ck! And worse of all it's making him hard. And he couldn't help getting hard.
But Monty never stopped there. He dropped his little tickle toy and used his hands - and Winston wished he just used his toy - and continued tickling his thighs, his ribs, his genitals then back to his feet again.
"You have a beautiful laugh, do you know that?"
He knew Monty was just teasing him, and he just helplessly shrieked in laughter.
"I… Yi-hihi..hahaha!!!"   Helppp!   "I yield!"
And Monty finally stopped. "What?"
"I… yield!" Winston gasped. "I'm really embarrassed right now!"
"So, does that mean you lose?"
"I can tell - hah - you're smiling like a Cheshire cat." His chest still heaved from losing so much air.
"I am, Winston. And you don't know how hot you look right now."
"Yeah?" Now, Monty was really making him embarrassed. "Are you mocking me?"
Monty ignored him. Winston felt his weight next to him as he sat beside him, leaning onto his ear. Winston struggled wanting to kick his balls but he couldn't.
How about a headbutt?
Winston was about to give him one only to stop when Monty held him by the chin, and he could tell their lips were just inches apart, making Winston lose his breath even more. He absently licked his lips.
"So, you lost." Monty moved to his ear. "And what do we do to the ones who lost?" he whispered and began nibbling his earlobe. Oh f*ck!
Winston inhaled shakily. "Punish them," he said in gritted teeth, keeping himself from moaning out the words. He wouldn't give Monty even more satisfaction by how weak he looked right now, even though what his boyfriend was doing felt wonderful.
"Good boy." Monty leaned off, ruffling his hair.
Winston thought Monty left him alone when he heard some shuffling. And it's getting him more impatient every second.
"Can't you… let me go?"
"No can do, babe." Monty's footsteps came closer and the next thing a hand was around his c*ck and started stroking him.
Ooh! Sh*t!
Winston hated to admit that what Monty was doing felt a hundred times better. Like how?
"As your punishment, you can't come until I say so."

I Want You To Stay // PT. 2 (Zach X Reader)
a/n: what up everyone I finally got to writing part two thanks for all the love on part one you guys are cute!!
warnings: cursing, punching (??? do you tag punching idk)
part 1 is here !!
Tumblr media
A whole week had passed since your fight with Zach. The weekend flew by, so when you arrived at school on Monday you knew avoiding him was going to be a challenge. He was everywhere. You spent the whole week at school taking the longer route to your classes and even eating outside alone to avoid him in the cafeteria. It seemed like this week was lagging, but when Friday hit you were more than ready to return back to seclusion at home...that was until your friend Jessica approached you when school let out. "Hey (y/n!)" she chimed as she walked in a steady pace to catch up to you. Jessica was off too, the same way Zach and the others had been. So you were surprised when she approached you in such a pleasant way. "Oh, hey Jessica." you responded with a small smile. "Listen, I know this has been a shitty week for you, but it has been for a lot of us also so i'm throwing a party to get everyone's mind off of everything." she said as you two walked out of the school. You stopped in your tracks once you realized Zach and the others had been waiting a few feet away, probably for Jessica. "(y/n)? are you listening?" Jessica said breaking you out of your trace. "Yeah sorry...a party? I don't really know if im up for that right now I just-" Before you could finish Jessica cut you off suddenly. "No, you're going you need to get out and drink and laugh. Everyone at school is coming and that includes you okay?" she said with a grin. You had to admit she was right, seclusion wasn't going to help how you were feeling but was getting drunk at a party with your ex in the same room such a great idea either? You shrugged and let out a small laugh. "Fine, i'm sold text me the details okay?" You said before Jessica let out a small high pitched squeak and pulled you in for a hug. "It'll be fun I promise!! I'll see you tonight (y/n) I have to go." You gave Jessica a smile and wave goodbye while she took off and for whatever strange reason, Zach had his eyes on you the entire time.
"This is a horrible idea, a really fucking horrible idea." you said to yourself quietly as you approached Jessica's house. You had to admit you looked good, you had on a cute black dress that hugged you in all the right places and decided to pair it with your infamous denim jacket and a pair of converse so you didn't look too over dressed. As you stepped inside the loud house, you noticed it was more crowded than usual. Jessica wasn't kidding when she said she invited damn near the whole school. "(Y/N) you made it!!" Jessica yelled from the other side of the room and immediately all eyes were on you. She stumbled over to you and handed you a drink and impulsively you chugged most of it down. “Let’s get another!” You cheered forcefully before making your way over to the drinks. You felt Zach eying you as you passed him without saying a word. You didn't wanna worry about Zach or being sad anymore, you just wanted to have fun and that's what you did.
Later on as the party progressed you found yourself drunk with Monty in the backyard behind a shed. You two were making out heavily, you didn't know where Zach was and in the moment you didn't care. "Wait---Monty...." You said as he started to put his hand up your thigh. Things were getting heated and you were suddenly uncomfortable. You quickly pushed it away but his hand made his way back up your leg, "God fuck off Monty!" you said as you pushed him off of you and gave him a slap in the face. "Chill (y/n) I thought we were having a good time, guess you're really not over Dempsey huh?" Monty said with a grin on his face. You rolled your eyes and stepped from behind the shed only to find Zach standing there, angry. You looked at him with a horrified expression, had he been there the entire time? "What the fuck are doing with him (y/n)!?" Zach said angrily as he shot a look to Monty. He looked worse than he did when you two last spoke and you didn’t think that was possible. You were confused as to why he was there in the first place but before you had a chance to speak Monty chuckled as he walked past the two of you. "Don't worry Dempsey she's all yours, thought she'd be easier to get with after you were done with her." Within an instant Zach punched Monty in the face and grabbed him by the shirt "You stay the FUCK away from my girl." Zach growled before pushing Monty away. He stumbled off bloody and mumbling something under his breath. You stood there stunned at what just happened. "So i'm your girl now, Zach?" you scoffed while you looked down at the ground avoiding his stare. "(Y/N) I---just let me explain, please? I wanna tell you everything, but I might lose you after I do." You listened to his words and thought about what he said for a minute. You'd already lost him once, at this point one more time wouldn't hurt. "I wanna know everything Zach, I can handle it." You said as you looked up at the tall beautiful boy that stood in front of you. Even with his tired eyes and scruffy face you couldn’t help but still be in love with him. "Okay...come with me." He said softly as he took your hand. The fate of you two seemed up in the air at this point, but you were finally going to get the answers you deserved.
and that’s it!! part 3 is coming very..very..soon :-) lemme know if you wanna be tagged!

Not so secret now
Tumblr media
Anonymous asked: Hi!!! I love your blog so much btw. I was wondering if you could do something with either Justin or Montgomery, where they're like keeping their relationship a secret and then some of the other jocks start noticing hickies and marks on them and the reader. Thanks, if you can't that okay. Xxx
Ship: Montgomery De La Cruz x Reader
Words: 718
Trigger Warning(s): Swearing, degradation of females (*cough* bryce)
A/N: I chose Montgomery because I feel like Monty needs more love, am I right or am I right !! Thank you so much xxx
“Monty… What the fuck mate… did you get attacked by a bear or something? Holy shit.” Justin called from the other side of the changing room. “No… what do you mean?” Montgomery questioned, shouting back. “Your back man… Scratched as hell,” Zach inputted.
“Oh, nah, that’s nothing, don’t worry.” Monty said, hastily putting his shirt back on to stop all of the Jock’s stares.
“Fuck off is it nothing. Someone had a lot of fun on Sunday night if you know what I mean,” Bryce interjects, laughing looking around to the rest of the boys. “C’mon, tell us who was it? Anybody we can share?” He added.
That comment set Monty off, “Just because you think women are pieces of meat to chuck around doesn’t mean everyone else does Walker!” He raged, shoving Bryce against the lockers, fists gripping the front of his shirt in anger. “Treat them with some respect and then maybe you’d get one, instead of them just being in your dreams.” With that statement, Monty released Bryce and stormed out of the changing room, not wanting to deal with anyone’s comments.
I was shocked when I was pulled into a store closet, and went to let out a squeal, until I saw it was Monty, my ‘secret’ boyfriend.
“What can I do for you today, nothing too long, I have class in 10 minutes,” I ask flirtatiously, Monty has a tendency to want to make out in our break time, and who would I be to deny him?
“The boys know, they’ve seen the marks,” He states, looking at me seriously. “Ohh… Um… So do the girls?” I reply cautiously, all I get in response is a curious stare. “Jess saw the hickey you left on my collarbone…” I say, pulling down my shirt slightly to show him the bruise. “I didn’t tell her it was you, but if everyone knows you’ve been hooking up with someone, and so have I, I’m sure it won’t take them long to figure it out.” I pointed out, I was surprised to see Monty not getting angry.
“Perfect, then we need a plan I guess,” He suggests, with a smirk. “A plan?” I question, confused by his actions. “Yeah, a big reveal or whatever, before they figure it out.” Now I was definitely shocked, Monty had always been the one for keeping our relationship a secret, and suddenly he wants to tell everyone?
“Okay…” I agree, “But I don’t understand, what’s changed? Why are you acting like this without any warning? You’ve never said anything about this before,” I query, I was certainly not complaining, but I was trying to comprehend the situation.
“Because I’ve realised something in these past couple of days…” He pauses, “I think I’m in love with you y/n.” Without a doubt, I was not expecting that, who could’ve known previously super-aggressive Monty could experience love?
I looked up into his brown eyes, which were full of admiration and said “I’m in love with you too,” The look on his face was priceless, nothing felt better than making the one you love so happy.
He peppered my face in excited kisses as I asked “So, what’s the plan?”
We had decided to expose our relationship at Jessica’s party that weekend. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited.
It was about an hour into the party, everybody was a little buzzed, but nobody was off-their-face drunk yet. Monty and I were just chatting ‘as friends’ it would seem, outside where the majority of the people were.
I laughed quite loud at a fake joke he’d made and purred “You’re so funny!” staring into his eyes, to get some people’s attention. In response, his hands came up to frame the sides of my face, and I leant into his touch. “Just kiss me, enough people are watching now,” I whispered, “Are you sure?” He replied back, with a voice just as faint. “Mhmm,” I hum, wanting him. As my arms went around his neck, and our lips met, all we could hear were cheers in the background.
I tugged on the hair at the nape of Monty’s neck, and he opened his mouth slightly. All of a sudden, I couldn’t hear anyone else, Monty and I were in our own little world.

What if Monty never was “murdered”, and he was in fact alive throughout Season Four?
Let’s be honest... Season Four was supposed to be about; Monty & Winston, however, instead it was an utter disappointment. What the writers should of done, is; have Monty live, give him a deal (the way Bryce had his), show us; Monty suffering from his own abuse (at the hands of his father), how he was raised, explain his aggression/behavior, and finally show us; a more in-depth sight to the relationship of him and Winston. We wanted that. They deserved better. His dad should of been held accountable for his actions as well. By bringing in Estela (his sister), and having Winston carry the season by (finding out the truth of; Bryce’s Murder, and then not having him capitalize on it was ridiculous. But, we’re giving Alex (A person who committed a murder a free walk?) interesting. Possibly, more white privilege? To me, Season Four never happened. 👌🏼

One Last Time Pt. 4
A/N: Hello! Sorry, it quite longer than usual. I got carried away.
Word count:  1078
Part: 4/5
Warning: language perhaps
Part 1  Part 2  Part 3
Tumblr media
Gif: not mine
Mrs. Walker contacted the sheriff and asked him to give us access to the files for Bryce’s and Monty’s Case. Winston and I found an abandoned hut on the outskirts of town. We cleaned up the small hut and bought two new pin-walls, a new table, and a pull-out sofa. We started hanging up everything and organizing the evidence we’ve got to prove Monty’s innocence and to get justice for Bryce - altho he was an asshole and a rapist but everyone deserves a fair trial. The setting up took us an entire week. After we were settled Winston texted Monty’s sister Estella Mrs. Walker and the Sheriff saying: “We are all set up. Let’s get this show started.” Every Saturday evening we met in our secret spot and evaluated the new evidence we’ve gathered.
Today Winston seemed a little off. He was even quieter than usual. Something is definitely wrong. After Mrs. Walker, Estella and the Sheriff left. I turned to Winston and stared at him. “What’s wrong with you today Winston?”  “Huh..? Oh, yeah listen Y/N there’S something you need to know about Monty. I think it’s best for you if you heard it from me.” “Winston, you’re scaring me. What’s wrong?” “Do you know why Monty got arrested in the first place?” “Uh, well he told me he got into a pretty bad fight with important people in town.” “technically it was a fight. Do you know who else was involved?” “I don’t know he never told me. He said it was the best way for him to protect me. I..it’s safer for me if I didn’t know.” “Y/N, he… he might have lied to you. “ Winston took both my hands in his and looked me in the eyes and said: “Monty… Do you know about the thing that happened between him and Tyler?” “No, I know that he always said to stay away from Tyler because he’s a creep, which isn’t true tho. Tyler is really kind and sweet.” I stared and Winston anxious and my hands were shaking. “What did Monty do to h-him?”  I knew from the start the look on Winston’s face meant that I won’t like what I am going to hear. “He assaulted Tyler a couple of years ago in the bathroom with a broom before doing that he beat him up. Tyler got recently the courage to report the sexual assault.” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I snatched my hands from Winson’s and stood up. I didn’t want to believe what I was hearing. My Monty, my best friend, would never do such a thing. He had a horrible temper but this is going too far. I knew he was a hothead but he was sweet and kind to the people he cared about. A Million thoughts were racing through my mind. I looked over at Winston and said “ I need some fresh air. I need to…” He interrupted me and said “I understand” and with that, I left and wandered around the forest for a while. After wandering around for an hour I came to the conclusion that no matter what Monty did he was my best friend. I need to speak to Tyler as soon as possible. I returned back to the hut. “You’re still here.” “Yes, I wanted to be there for you when you return.” “Monty did some horrible things and Justice was served for Tyler. Monty was sent to jail. But dying in there wasn’t something he deserved. Dying in there was something that shouldn’t have happened. It’s the worst thing that occurred. He didn’t deserve that and he definitely didn’t deserve to get framed for murdering one of his best friends. We knew the real Monty and the real Monty didn’t deserve any of this shit.” Tears were streaming down my face. “I don’t want him to be remembered as the man who killed his best friend, as a traitor. He is no murderer. And Bryce… that awful person didn’t deserve to die. The last couple of months before his death he changed and regretted what he did. He even tried to fix what was fixable. Even he does deserve Justice everyone does.” I sniffled and said: “ What I am saying is that I’ll continue helping you proving Monty’S innocence but I need to talk to Tyler on Monday and I need you there with me. Please Winston” Winston stood up and whipped the tears streaming down my face away with his thumbs and took me in his arms, hugging me.
Monday:
Winston and I walked up to Tyler. “Hey Tyler, I need to speak to you.” “Yeah sure Y/N!” We went into an empty classroom. I could feel Tony and Clay’s eyes on us. Winston closed the door behind us and I looked over and Tyler and said: “I’m sorry. I didn’t know what he did to you. If I knew I would have never said what I’ve said and I would have tried to stop him. I’m-m so sorry Tyler. I knew I said that the asshole who put him in jail will pay for that and you are definitely no asshole and he did deserve going to jail for what he did to you, but he didn’t deserve dying in jail and getting framed. Tyler you did the right thing reporting the assault and if you ever need anything I- we are always there for you and we’ll try our best to always support you.” by now there were tears streaming down Tyler’s and my face. I hugged Tyler and he said that everything was okay and that we’re all good. Tyler left the room and I ran into Winston’s arms crying. Winston hugged me and tried to calm me down. Little did we know that Scott was standing in the doorway watching us. Winston kissed my forehead.
1 week later
Winston came running into my room and said “I figured it out. I figured it all out. I know who killed Bryce and who framed Monty. You need to call Estella and Mrs. Walker, while I set up everything for our meeting. I’ll meet you in an hour at the hut. I need your help setting a couple of things up and going through everything before Estella and Mrs.Walker come over. Tell them they should be there at 8.” “What about the Sheriff?” “We’ll tell him later.”
...To be continued...

It’s complicated - Monty/Alex
"You know, Monty beat the shit out of me once." "Why?" "It's complicated."
 (ao3 link)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
 "What's he doing here?"
With a lazy groan Bryce turned his head, stretching his neck, looking over the backrest of the couch he was sitting on, following Montgomery's gaze to the foosball table behind him. Monty clenched his jaw, lips pressed into a thin line, as he looked at the platinum blond boy standing at the table opposite Foley. The latter was shaking with laughter and obviously talking to the skinnier boy, who was chuckling, no, giggling, his whole posture slightly bent forward, his shoulders raised, his head down, looking up at Justin with that look of insecurity and shyness and wonder Monty had observed many times on the blond boy's face. He couldn't hear what they were talking about or why they were laughing. The mixture of bass-heavy music, laughter, chatting and the shooting sounds from the videogame on the giant flat screen were drowning anything from that conversation.
"Alex Standall? He's Zachy's friend."
Bryce lifted himself up from the couch, patting Monty's knee in that movement, and met his eyes.
"Don't bother about him," he said and gave his friend one of his complacent smiles.
Monty didn't say anything, he didn't point out that that fag wasn't part of the team and this was supposed to be a party for the team. The team only. The team licking their wounds after that disastrous defeat against those suckers at Westwood.
He remained seated, watched how Bryce crossed the room, walking in his confident stride as if he owned the place. Well, he did own the place, after all it was his family's pool house. Bryce passed Foley, said something to him, which made Justin punch him playfully but hard into the shoulder and shake his head, chuckling. Bryce raised his hands as if in defeat, his lips forming an "Oh," his eyes widening in that ironic gesture, staggering backwards, closer to that blond boy. Alex Standall. Alex Standall, who was holding onto the rods of the foosball table the whole time, clenching his tiny hands around them, like they were some fucking lifeline. Bryce walked behind him slowly, coming very close, casually placing a hand on the scrawny boy's shoulder, squeezing it. His index finger touching the bare skin at his collar. Standall flinched, just a bit, and he drew his shoulders even further up, but he smiled, he smiled that strange shy smile, not even daring to look at Bryce's face, it seemed.
Monty's hands balled into fists.
He turned his head and noticed Scott and Nate standing nearby. He got up, walking over, then suddenly turning into a sprint in which he grabbed Scott's plastic cup out of his hand and ran off with it, laughing.
"Fuck you!" Scott yelled, pursuing Monty to get his drink back. They chased each other round the room, around the furniture, around people, with Scott almost catching up, but Monty always being ahead of him, always avoiding being caught. Laughing and mocking at Scott he was unstoppable - until he crashed into something. Something so light and offering hardly any resistance, not really stopping his motion. It just gave way and made him stumble and fall to the ground. Not the ground exactly. He found himself on top of Alex Standall's flimsy body, chest to chest.
Monty looked into the boy's eyes, bright blue eyes widened in shock. Staring at him. Then they narrowed. A frown appeared on the boy's brow, but that couldn't really distort those too soft features.
Monty's mouth was open, he could feel his own breathing accelerate, he could feel how it was reflected from Alex's face; he was panting from the little sprint.
"Get off me! Asshole!" Alex cried out, his voice almost breaking, tiny hands trying to shove Monty's massive body away. In vain. Monty didn't move, crushing the tiny body with his weight.
Seconds later, hands grabbed around Monty's chest and pulled him up.
"Fuck! Jesus, Montgomery." The tall dark-haired boy looked at him with a grim expression on his face, then he turned and helped Standall get up, literally picking him up and putting him back on his feet.
"You okay, Alex?" Zach asked, bending down, coddling the boy like he was some baby.
"Fuck! My shirt's all soaked. I'm gonna reek of that shit. My dad's gonna kill me when he finds out about the drinking!"
Alex had stepped back from Zach, looking down at his body. His slender hands pointing at the mess. The wet shirt clinging to his body, sticking to his flat chest and tummy. Dark stains were on his jeans too.
Monty looked down at his own body, raising his eyebrows when seeing that his shirt was wet too, but it wasn't as soaked as Standall's. He noticed the empty cup lying on the floor, spilling its remains.
"You can wash it off," Zach said. And Monty looked up again, seeing how Zach extended a hand and cautiously stepped closer to the boy who looked even tinier when standing in front of Dempsey.
"Yeah, well, thanks," Alex mumbled and walked off, leaving Zach standing there with his hand still raised. He caught Monty's eyes, frowned and walked into a different direction.
Monty hadn't moved an inch since Zach had pulled him to his feet. He'd been watching the scene like some unaffected bystander. Only now did he realize that Justin was doubling over with laughter the whole time. Monty's lips curled up into a smirk.
"What a fucking baby." He half-rolled his eyes.
He joined Scott, who was getting himself another drink. He made a half-hearted attempt at snatching it yet again, but didn't really try to. Scott quickly pulled away. They both chuckled.
Monty grabbed a handful of chips from a bag he found lying on the counter. Munching them, he headed for the bathroom.
When he pushed the door open, he heard an annoyed voice saying, "I'm busy in here!"
He nevertheless got in and closed the door behind himself.
"I need to piss," he said to Alex who was standing at the sink, frantically scrubbing his shirt under the running water, wearing nothing but his skinny dark jeans.
"Whatever." The boy hadn't even looked up for more than a second, then he was completely focused on his task again.
"Don't you wanna wash your jeans too? You look like you've pissed yourself."
Alex didn't even reply to that with more than an annoyed sigh and probably a "fuck you" muttered under his breath.
Monty strode through the room, lifted the toilet lid.
Looking sideways, he could see Alex. He was bent forward. His back curving. The white skin seemed almost translucent. He was so scrawny you could easily spot the ribs. And his arms, you could wrap your whole hand around his skinny arms. They looked fragile, like you could snap them, just like a twig.
"Your dad's really gonna kill you if he finds out you been drinking?" Monty's voice echoed in the bathroom.
"As if you'd care," Alex snapped, not looking up from his hands.
"Yeah, I don't."
Having finished, Monty flushed the toilet, turned and pulled up the zipper of his pants.
When he passed Alex, the boy stepped aside from the sink, taking the dripping wet shirt with him.
Monty stopped, looking at him, dumbfounded.
Alex looked back.
None of them moved.
"Don't you wanna wash your hands?"
Monty let out a laugh. "What?"
"Your hands." Alex pointed at them with the wet piece of clothing he was holding in both his hands.
As Monty only kept on laughing and didn't move, Alex rolled his eyes and was about to resume his task, when Monty decided to step closer.
"Oh, you find that disgusting," he mocked the weird boy.
"I don't give a shit, just - hey!"
In a sudden movement, Monty had covered the distance between them and was now directly in front of the scrawny boy. His hand reached out, touching the naked chest. He placed a large palm on the pale skin. Moving it, he felt the ribs expand as Standall drew in air in surprise.
The boy moved back, dropping the wet shirt to use both his small hands to push Monty away.
"Stop that! God! Stop!"
Monty stepped forward in that same movement and was even closer now. Both his hands on Standall's body, moving them on the naked skin, while the smaller boy tried to shove him away, hit him even.
The more Alex fought, the more Monty laughed, and his hands touched and grabbed and squeezed and pinched the boy wherever they could reach: his chest, his shoulders, his arms, his neck, his hipbones, his belly, his collarbones, his fingers, his hair, his face.
"Oh, oh, are you afraid of my dirty dick hands, Standall?"
He felt a rush of heat going through his body, his breathing had accelerated. Alex had retreated so far that the wall was now at his back, he was pressing against it, and he couldn't escape any further.
"Stop! Stop! You're gross!" There was a wild expression in the tiny boy's face, determined like he would never stop fighting, even though he was literally cornered now. Those tiny hands pushed harder, but still in vain. Monty's body pressed up against Alex's, their hips meeting. His hands were touching and touching, feeling that soft skin which seemed a bit cold. Monty was no longer laughing, not even smirking, his lips parted, as he pressed his large hand onto the boy's face. The heel of his hand on the lips, muffling his angry cries. He felt those wet lips move under his touch. He inhaled sharply. The blue eyes widened, the pupils dilating, eating that pale blue. Monty had come so close, his chest pressed against Alex's upper body, harder with each sharp breath he took. His other hand touched his neck, long fingers feeling the pulse racing under the skin. He exhaled and felt the warm breath coming back at his own face after blowing over those too soft features.
A rustling sound behind him made him spin his head around suddenly. Bryce was standing in the open door. - For how long?
Something snapped inside Monty, he tensed up. In the same split second, he smacked Standall's head against the wall. The face hit the tiles with a thud.
Monty stepped back, laughing, strained. His eyes on Bryce who hadn't moved as much as an eyebrow.
"Whiny bitch." He once more turned towards Alex who was covering his face with both his hands now. He couldn't see if the boy was really whining, but he probably was. That blow must have hurt.
Bryce didn't say a word, didn't even blink when he looked at him with a stern expression on his face. He pushed Monty aside, who automatically stepped back even further, and rushed past him towards little Alex.
Monty left the bathroom. Outside he pressed his back against the wall, next to the door in the hallway. His heart was racing. It was beating so fucking loudly and hard, he felt like it would burst through his throat. His hands balled into fists, he pressed his eyes shut and tried to calm his breathing.
When he opened them again and turned his head, he could see through the crack of the door into the bathroom. He could see the reflection of Bryce and Alex in the mirror, standing close to each other. Bryce touched the younger boy's face, carefully cupping it, tilting it, examining it. A thumb brushed over the cheekbone, the skin red. Alex flinched, but didn't pull away. A bruise was forming. Monty very well knew how those looked like. He could see that Bryce was saying something, hearing his familiar voice, but it was too low to catch a single word. The noises of the guys celebrating their defeat coming from the other room were drowning every syllable. Alex's lips moved in a quick reply. And whatever he said, it made Bryce laugh whole-heartedly and pat the boy's shoulder. Once, twice, three times. Then he squeezed it. Left his hand there when he handed something to Alex, something dark blue. A T-shirt. Bryce had brought one of his own shirts for the younger boy to wear. It would be too big on that tiny body. It would look ridiculous.
Monty froze. He hadn't noticed how Bryce had moved and opened the bathroom door. He just stared into his team captain's face when he was suddenly next to him.
Monty opened his mouth. Bryce just walked past him, not saying a single word, but looking at him with those eyes, making Monty shut his lips again, pressing them into a thin line, clenching his jaws and lowering his gaze. A strange feeling crept up his spine. As if he was being rebuked without even a single word.

The night that changed everything|Montgomery de la cruz x y/n and a little bit of Scott x y/n part 4.
(Sorry I haven’t posted in a while I haven’t felt any motivation)
Warnings:a little bit of smut, naughty truth or dare.
School had finished for the day and you headed to Scott Reeds house to help him with his Chemistry homework, but before you arrived at Scott’s house a text message from Monty popped up on your phone.
Monty 😊💞: “Are you at Scott’s already?”
Y/n 😍: “Yeah, that’s still okay though, right?”
Monty 😊💞: “I may or may not be here as well…”
Y/n 😍: “Seriously?”
You didn’t even realise Monty’s jeep in the driveway when you arrived but now you were scared to go in, “what if he came because he was jealous?” You thought to yourself, but you went to the door and knocked hoping he wasn’t just there to watch you and Scott together.. Scott opened the door with a smile on his face as he saw you.
“Hey Scotty” you said looking past him to see the one and only Montgomery de la cruz right behind him
“Hey y/n, come in” you walked past both boys and sat on the couch in the living room
“Is it okay that Monty joined us this afternoon?”
“Yeah, as long as I’m not interrupting you guys hanging out..”
“Don’t worry princess you weren’t interrupting” Monty spoke up
You blushed again at the nickname and Scott seemed a little confused on what was going on with the nickname and you blushing over it but he shrugged it off knowing Monty liked to flirt with literally all the girls at school.
“Alright shall we start this homework, do you need help with anything Monty?” You looked at him with a smile
“No but thanks”
You and Scott started working together on the chemistry work with Monty just watching you the entire time and finally after an hour you both finished the homework.
“Thank you for the help y/n”
“Anytime Scotty!” You looked in his direction sorta locking eyes but you instantly looked away knowing Monty was staring at you
“Let’s do something fun” Monty blurted out
“Like what, mont?” Scott asked taking his attention off you
“A little game of truth or dare?”
“Sounds good!” You and Scott said at the same time
A few rounds of truth of dare some of which were a little naughty (iykyk) some were just funny.
“Y/n, truth or dare?” Monty said smirking
“Since I’ve been doing a lot of dares I choose truth”
“Out of me and Scott, who would you sleep with”
You blushed thinking of the time you had with Monty at Bryce’s party
“Uhh can I skip?
“I’m kinda curious now” Scott spoke up
“Ugh um I guess Monty”
“Damn, am I not hot enough?” Scott joked
“Scotty you know girls would beg for a chance with you” you smiled at him
“But clearly you’re begging for a chance with me” Monty smirked
“Whatever, truth or dare Scotty”
“Dare of course”
“Since you two have been making me do crazy stuff I dare you to kiss me”
Monty glared at you with jealous eyes but looked away when Scott pulled you onto his lap by your waist and made out with you for at least a minute until you pulled away feeling guilty about the dare and sat between them both again but a bit closer to Monty.
“Monty, truth or dare?” Scott broke the silence
“Dare.”
“I dare you to let y/n give you a lap dance without getting a boner”
“Hmm alright”
Before you knew it you were on Monty’s lap doing exactly what Scott said to do not noticing how turned on he was from just watching you Scott was the one that got a boner and Monty was trying his hardest not to get one but unfortunately for him he ended up losing the dare.
“From what I can tell you both lost” you giggled getting off Monty’s lap revealing his hard through his pants and also seeing Scott hard at the same time.
“So clearly I win” you smiled at them both
“If you couldn’t tell by now you have us wrapped around your little finger y/n” Scott said and Monty agreed with him.
To be continued…

Once A Serpent? Part 4
A/N: New chapter! It’s a little short but I feel like this is the most logical spot to end it based on what’s coming next. I have decided how I want to show you guys Kennedy and Sweets’ relationship. There might be chapters that end up being only flashbacks, depending on the content but for now, it should just be flashbacks sprinkled in sometimes. Sorry if the spacing is weird. I don't know why it looks funny on my end. As always, much love and feedback is appreciated. -Em
I didn’t hear from Nathan, post breakup, until the next Saturday. I had just gotten home from my first shift at Monet’s. My phone vibrated on the counter. I thought it was my boss, Daphne, or someone from work. I silently hoped it was Monty. I refused to admit that I might possibly have a crush. My breakup was still fresh. When I saw that it was none of those people, but rather Sweet Pea’s name on the screen, I almost spit out my granola bar. What the hell? Why is he texting me now? What does he want? What could he possibly have to say to me? I sighed and decided to leave it unread for a while. He wasn’t worth dropping my snack and homework over. Not anymore. That didn’t stop me from glancing over at my phone every few minutes though.
My curiosity got the better of me and I pushed my math notes aside. I wasn’t going to solve this question anytime soon. Maybe I’ll text Scott and see if he knows the answer. I unlocked my phone and tapped the messages icon. Instead of texting Scott like I should have, I opened Sweet Pea’s text. How’s California? I rolled my eyes. What was I supposed to say to that?
It’s sunny. I locked my phone and stupidly, tried to go back to my math homework. After several minutes of still getting nowhere with it, I gave up and texted Scott.
Hey. Did you figure out question eight? I’m about rip my hair out trying to do it.
Figure it out? No. Get the answer? Yes.
What?
Melissa said it’s 38. Zach agreed.
You know it says ‘show your work’ right?
Well shit.
Yup. I don’t think you can say ‘my girlfriend said it’s this.’ and get points.
I’m busy right now, but we can call later and figure it out?
Sure. Tell Melissa I said hi.
I will when I see her tonight.
You’re not together? I thought you were spending the day together.
Her parents needed her to do stuff for her grandma today so we moved things.
Ah. Sweet Pea texted me a few more times while I finished my work.
You good?
Yeah. My ex is just… I don’t know.
Boy troubles?
You could say that. My phone started ringing. It was Scott.
“Scott.”
“Kennedy.” I could hear voices in the background. “You’re on speaker.”
“You’re calling me because?”
“Boy troubles.”
“Tell him to fuck himself.” Bryce called.
“That would require answering his texts. Are we sure the answer is 38? I don’t think it’s 38.”
“It is.” Zach said.
“What’s he saying? Dude. My mom will murder all of us if you fuck up her couch.” There was a chorus of laughter in the background. I assumed they were being idiots at Scott’s place.
“I don’t want to look.”
“Do it!” the guys called. I groaned.
“What’s the situation there?” Monty asked. Fishing for a story or is he curious?
“K so he hasn’t spoken to me since the breakup. And when I went to return his stuff, I overheard him saying some not so great things.”
“Any more to go on?”
“Secrets Monty.”
“You wouldn’t kill me. You like me somewhere deep down.”
“Sure she does. Real deep.”
“Fuck you Walker.”
“Anyway. He texted me when I got home asking how California is. I told him it’s sunny and haven’t looked at my phone since.”
“Fuck him. Read the texts and call me back.”
“Fine. In the meantime, can you get Zach to explain how the hell this is 38?” I hung up and opened Sweet Pea’s messages.
Sunny?
That’s it? Not exciting? Again, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.
Jones misses you.
Fangs wants you to answer his text. Which I assume you never got if you didn’t answer. Because it’s Fangs.
I sighed and answered him. Yes. Just sunny. It’s small and school just started. The only cool thing that has happened is homecoming. We lost. Tell him I didn’t get the text. Short, sweet, and to the point. Maybe now he will leave me alone.
I texted Scott. No point in calling. He basically was just asking if I got a text from my friend or not.
That’s weird.
I know.
I abandoned my phone for the rest of the day. I didn’t want to think about Nathan and his out of the blue text. If I kept my phone on me, I would just read it over and obsess over it. That wasn’t healthy. We broke up. We were over. We both had to accept that. Random texts weren’t okay. After all, I was the experiment. “Took him two years to figure that out?” I spat. My parents were gone for the night, so the house was empty. My question was met with silence. As hard as I tried, I couldn’t get his text out of my head.
I needed a distraction. I tried cleaning the kitchen. Scrubbing at the already clean counters. Mopping the floor. I unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher. Once that was done, I went upstairs and did my laundry. Folded my shirts and hung my pants. How’s California? I huffed and emptied out my closet. I didn’t like how it was organized when we moved in. The pretty little rich girl. I ripped a sweater off its hanger. Experiment. I threw a pair of jeans across the room. Was never going to work out anyway. Both better off. I screamed and pulled at my hair. I hadn’t let myself really feel the emotions of our breakup. It all happened so fast that I never really got a chance to take a breath and accept it. And so, I did what any sane person would do. I sat on my floor and sobbed. I let myself feel the cold loneliness that I wrapped in too warm sweaters during the day and thick, heavy blankets at night. For the first time in a month, I freely let my mind run wild with memories. Once, they were cherished. Now though… now they felt tainted. Like everything we did, like all of our promises from the last two years meant nothing.
FLASHBACK
I was curled up on Nathan’s bed, flipping through an old comic book. He was in the kitchen. I could hear cupboard doors opening and closing. The scrape of metal on glass filled the trailer. I winced. “Sorry.” He called. I didn’t respond. He came back into his room with a pb & j on a plate for us to share. Not exactly the healthiest breakfast. My mom would flip if she saw me eating this at nine a.m.
“Thank you.”  I mumbled as I sat up. He joined me on the bed silently and kissed my temple. We ate our sandwich quietly, while we shared the comic I was flipping through. He, of course, knew it by heart. But he still reacted like it was the first time he was reading it when a twist happened. I smiled to myself because I knew he was only doing it for my benefit.
As we laid together lazily, wasting a dreary Saturday morning, he played with my hair. “This is it, right?”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“This is what they mean in all those old movies and books we read for English, about that person? The person who is it for you? This is what they are talking about?”
“I think so.” I nodded.
“So, this is forever?” He sounded hopeful.
“Yes. This is it.” I had long since abandoned any fear of leaving. I had allowed myself to become comfortable. I was content. And madly and completely in love with Nathan.
“I promise this is forever.”
“Forever.” I sat up and kissed him deeply.
END FLASHBACK
I remained on the floor as more memories ran through my mind. Eventually, I heard my phone ringing somewhere in the background. I ignored it. Sometime later, my parents came home. I had stopped crying but was still on my floor. My parents called my name. I groaned in response. “Kennedy?” my mom asked as she came in my door.
“What?” My voice was gravely and sounded hollow.
“Oh, honey.” She came and sat with me. Her hand ran through my hair, untangling it. My dad came up the stairs.
“Girls?”
“In here.”
“Oh my.” Dad stayed in the doorway.
“I hate him. I hate him Mom.”
“I’ll get the ice cream.” Dad said before retreating back downstairs. Mom pulled me into her lap. Together, we stood and slowly made our way downstairs.
Dad had ice cream on the counter with three spoons. I took a chair over to the counter and sat down, pulling the tub towards me. We are an eat it out of the tub kind of family. “Don’t hog all the brownie bits.”
“I make no promises Pops.”
“What happened honey?”
“Nate texted me.”
“What did he say?”
“Nothing of consequence. Just… nothing.” I sighed.
“I’m sorry pumpkin. I always thought I should have kicked his ass.”
I laughed. “Dad!”
“What? It’s my right as your father to kick ass.”
“Dad!”
By Monday I was in a better mood. I was back to thinking that Nathan didn’t matter anymore. Scott was waiting for me at my locker with his math homework. “This is how it is 38 apparently.” He handed the papers to me.
“Morning Scott.” I looked over the work. It was all Greek to me. “Uh… huh. Right. Sure.”
“Oh good, you agree.” I pulled my textbook out of my bag and pulled out the loose sheet from this weekend. Handing it to Scott, I shoved another book in to replace it. My sweater was balled up in my locker and I slammed it shut. We started on our way to class as I scribbled the work off Scott’s paper to mine. Bryce and the guys caught up with us near the cafeteria.
“What did you get up to this weekend?” Bryce asked. He snaked his arm around my shoulder. I rolled my eyes and brushed him off.
“Not much. Reorganized my closet. Watched movies with the parents. You?”
“I had a date.” He shrugged. The boys groaned and made some stupid comments.
“Fantastic. Was she nice?”
“Nice enough.” He smirked. “How’s the ex?”
“He sucks. And has gone radio silent again, thankfully. I had ice cream. I feel better.” Melissa walked over to us and hugged me tightly. I stiffened. I wasn’t good with unprovoked touching.
“Men suck.”
“Hey!” Scott protested.
“Not you hon. I’m sorry Kennedy.”
“Don’t be. It was bound to happen sometime. Also yes.” I shrugged. The bell rang and I waved bye to my friends.
Justin and I got to work Tuesday afternoon at the same time. I watched as he pulled his sweater over his head in one motion. I could feel my neck flush. Not because I was attracted to him or anything. It’s just one of those things that is attractive anytime a guy does it. It was my third shift, so I was still learning the basics. The register was easy enough to do. You selected the drink, any customizations, and any extra items, and then took the money. Fairly simple. For the most part. I had already had some ‘I only like the idea of coffee’ orders. One girl asked for eight pumps of syrup in her medium latte. The espresso bar was a work in progress. The buttons were finicky lately, or so I had been told by Daphne on my first day.
I was finishing an espresso order for a ‘Prestilla’ when I could feel someone’s eyes on me. I tried to ignore the feeling, but it wouldn’t go away. I was used to the feeling of being watched. But I wasn’t as new in town anymore. People were starting to ignore me. I shook my head slightly. When I looked up, Montgomery was watching me from the doorway. I smiled at him softly. He nodded in my direction. I pretended not to pay attention when he came to order. “Monty.”
“Justin.” I wasn’t dumb. I knew they weren’t friends. Even though I knew that I was taken aback by Justin’s slightly hostile tone. We were at work.
“What can I get for you?” I choked back a snort at his customer service voice.
“Pour over with cream.”
“Anything else?”
“What’s in the lemon raspberry muffin?”
“Is… Are you-?” Justin muttered but stopped himself. “Lemon. And raspberries. And whatever else goes in a muffin.” I hummed, trying not to laugh.
“One of those.”
“That’ll be five ten.” I turned to grind the coffee for the pour over, groaning slightly.
“How’re you?” I turned around and tilted my head. I couldn’t hear Monty very well over the coffee grinder. He held up a hand for me to wait. Once the coffee was ground, I was able to hear again. “I asked how you are.”
“Oh, I’m good. You know, working. You?”
“Good. Work okay?”
“It goes.” I was never good at small talk.
“Fair enough. Are you working Friday night?”
“I don’t think so? Why, what’s up?”
“Bryce’s parents are out of town so he’s having some people over after the game. Did you want to come?”
“Sure. I think Melissa and I are going to the game together. Are you planning on winning this week?”
“We always plan to win.” Justin piped up. “Here’s your lemon raspberry muffin, that has lemons and raspberries.”
“Thanks.” I handed Monty his coffee and he smiled at me. “See you tomorrow, Kennedy.”
“See you, Monty.”

———————————-Teaser———————————
Monty was a smart kid, it was a truth that no one could deny, perhaps not in life, but in school and sports, he was bright, did that alone help him get good grades? No, but if he was such an idiot like his father says he is, how would he manage to pass all his school classes without having time to study between juggling a job, looking after his sister, dealing with the craziness and being in three different sport teams.
——-
It was Monty’s first day back at school, and naturally, Winston’s too, neither seemed to want to let go of the other, Winston seemed to do a lot better, but that didn’t stop the Latinx from worrying, they walked the halls together, they weren’t holding hands, but they approached the school together “what do you want to do now?” Winston asked “I’ll walk you to your locker, then to your class” Monty replied, the other rolled his eyes “relax, I'm not going to break and go crazy on you, I can be fine on my own” Winston said in a protest, mainly because he was feeling guilty of the pain he was causing the other.
Monty, being himself, understood it as aggression, his expressions tensed as he looked at him “fine, you can go do your own shit” he snapped, he was nervous enough because it was the first day back at school, although his scars and bruises had faded but everyone already knew of what happened to him, he noticed the disgusting looks of pity, meanwhile, Winston was used to being the odd one, he ignored all the looks and the glares “could you just… calm down?” he whispered, standing in front of Monty “look, I know these past few days were torture, I figured… you could use a break from me, you know? Go hangout with your buddies, play some violent sport to make you feel like your old self! I don’t want to be burden more than I already am” he mumbled, looking down.
The other took a deep breath and nodded “okay, I get what you are trying to do, but this is bullshit, I’ll just walk you to your locker and first class, then you can catch a ride with me or Estella” he tried to reason, Winston was not in the mood to argue nor try to prove a point, he sighed and nodded, if it would make Monty feel better then yeah, whatever, it’s the least he could do, the two of them walked towards their first stop, gaining ridiculous glares from everyone at school, Monty had given everyone a hard time for being gay, it would upset many people who were connecting the dots about him and Winston.
