Art Weekend - Moon Gate by Xiaojing Yan
In traditional Chinese architecture, the moon gate is an important symbol as well as a passageway. In this installation, the traditional round shape of the moon gate is filled with small glass pieces, each affixed to a steel cable. The glass is able to rotate in the wind and their color and reflections change as they move. Artist Xiaojing Yan states that the sculpture's place in a community space is important as it "creates new public life experience that is rooted in intimate relationship with tradition and contemporary life."

Las Pozas, Xilitla, Mexico
Las Pozas is a "surrealist garden" created by Edward James, a British poet and supporter of the Surrealist movement. Las Pozas is close to the town of Xilitla (San Luis Potosí, México). Between 1949 and 1984 James developed the gardens in the tropical rainforest dotted with natural waterfalls and pools and built fantastic sculptures throughout.
