"The Moon Had Other Plans"

Hello everybody, i entered the Moon Knight writing phase. I'm obsessing, so this man is always on my mind. This might get a part 2, and after that a 3. Depends on how my creativity works in the next weeks. Enjoy this little piece, it's super angsty, srry.

Marc Spector x Partner!Reader (no Steven in this :c)

Warnings: Blood, injuries, death, mentions of suicide, spoiler (ish) for ep. 5

Summary: Reader is Marc's mercenary partner and lover, and she's with him on that one night when everything changed. Marc watches everything unfold before his eyes, and thinks he lost the girl he loves..

Part 2

Pain was the only thing that existed in Marc. His body lost too much blood, the wound on his side leaking crimson, painting the trail he crawled, the boring sand soaking up the red liquid like a thirsty creature. While his brain tried to deal with the torment of the body, his chest squeezed his lungs and heart together as he still saw your from the shelter of the tomb.

If it wasn't for the pool of blood under you, he would have said you were just sleeping. Peacefully, just as you did the night before in his arms, tangled together, not minding the heat of Cairo. Your hair sticking to your forehead, little drops of sweat shining in the moonlight. A smile on your face, watching the sparkling stars around the big grey planet, and it made him happy how those simple thing made you happy. Your body warm against his, fingers drawing shapes on his chest as you try to calm your breaths after getting lost in desire.

Now you are lifeless. Blood isn't pumping in your veins, it's not fueling you anymore. He knew it at the moment the bullets hit your torso, sending you down into the dry sand, knocking the air out of you with a loud gasp.

It's like a movie. Slow motion and big skips in his memory. He remembers exactly how you took those bullets, and immediately after the ones that cut through his skin, but he can't remember how he managed to get to you. His fingers roamed your body, shaking you, calling out your name, hoping you would just open your eyes, and wake him up from this nightmare.

He remembers crying over your body, his bloody hand searching for bare skin under your scarf, desperate to find a faint proof of your beating heart. And as he finds the spot on your neck, and he feels nothing, a sob breaks out of him. He hears himself scream, the sound getting lost in the infinite desert around you.

The next thing he knows, he's next to the sculpture, shielding him from the light of the moon, but illuminating the ancient creation around him. Blood is all over him, and he's not sure if it's his or yours.

He doesn't know what's going to kill him. The bullet wound, the soul breaking pain of losing you, or the handgun he holds close to his chin. Ready to end it, to forget all about this, to ascend to the otherworld, go to hell, or vanishing into nothingness. Whatever which one, just not this. The last thing he'll see is you, dead in a foreign land, by the hands of someone you both trusted. Honestly, by his hands. He was the reason you were there with him.

So he places the barrel to his neck pointing up to his brain, finger lingering over the trigger. Sight leaving your form, rolling back to his head with pain. Pictures of you falling to the ground replaying in his head, over and over again. He wishes he wouldn't have to see it. He's selfish and a coward for thinking that, because he knows how unbearable would have been for you. To see him the same he saw you. And still, he wished he died before you. That self hate is enough, to push him over the edge, ready to pull the trigger with acceptance of his fate.

But the Moon had other plans.

Cairo is your nightmare. A nightmare you greet every night like an old friend. While it was just sounds, pictures and feelings in your mind for a long time, it became a reality quickly when you stepped on the dry land for the first time in years. This place turned out to be awfully nostalgic, replaying memories you shut inside a treasure box with the heaviest lock.

Memories mixing with the laughing of Marc on your horrible joke about pyramids, the painful recovery in the hospital, adrenaline filled missions, and the terrified look on Marc's face on that night.

After all this time, you still lived in the shadow of his absence. Your memories were foggy, and the uncertainty of the little to nothing memory you had made you go crazy. Did he left you there? Was it all a lie, and he got away with his share? Did he ever loved you? He thought you have died, and somehow found a way to escape?

Everything was a mystery about that faithful night. You dug up every file, info from every possible agency and police storage you could access. And the fog never cleared up.

It's a miracle you survived your injuries, and it was a way bigger miracle, when you managed to abscond from the authorities. Acting like you don't speak any language they tried, displaying a very credible fear helped your case.

They didn't know anything about you, and they didn't had the time to find out. Week have already passed when you woke up, so your body had time to heal enough for you to make a move. It was a survival instinct.

Everything after that was the most horrible time in your life.

And you finally found him.

Is There A World For ‘Loki’ Beyond Season 2? EP Kevin Wright Sheds Light

Warning: the following interview contains spoilers about tonight’s first episode of season 2 of Loki

After Loki’s amiga Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) opted to kill He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) spurring multiple nefarious versions of the newbie villain across several timelines, Loki was sent back to where it all started: the bureaucratic, office grind of the TVA — but a very different one; one where his new best friend Mobius (Owen Wilson) doesn’t recognize him. Out of touch with his soulmate, Loki is trying to find his way back to her. However, like Chicken Little, he’s trying to tell everybody that the sky is falling; that Kang the Conqueror is coming their way. We talk with Marvel executive and Loki season 2 EP Kevin Wright, who is with the series from start to finish, script to post, about the daunting task of living up to what was a spectacular season one.

EP and director Kate Herron left some big shoes to fill on Loki season one and I was shocked when she told Deadline she would not be returning for season 2. What went on there?

Kevin Wright: Throughout season one, I was constantly teasing her with, ‘Hey, when we come back for season two,’ and she said she made it very clear through shooting, she’s like, ‘This one’s it’ and I think it was purely from the…She really put everything into it, and look, COVID was right in the middle of shooting.

So, it was an even longer commitment than she had initially even signed up for, and while that was happening and while we were shut down, she was editing, and we were working together through that. I think she felt like she really put her heart and soul into it, and she wanted to be able to hand the storytelling reins over to other filmmakers, and her fingerprints are certainly on it, and she was somebody that, when we first met her, knew she was fully aligned with what we wanted to make.

So she departs, who do you go to from there? The new directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead? Were they driving the ship on season 2?

KW: There was a little bit of downtime. Before they even came on, (EP & star) Tom (Hiddleston) and I kind of recalibrated. Figured out what we wanted this new season to be. We spent a lot of time developing that. Eric Martin had come on roughly around additional photography on season one as our season two kind of lead writer, and so, the three of us just starting building out story.

And there was a long stretch of just writers’ room, developing these scripts, figuring out what it was going to be, while we figured out where we would go in the directing front. Pretty early on, we knew we were going to bump up (production designer) Kasra Farahani to direct, as well. He was with us in the writers’ room, so he had already taken on a big creative role there and had so much to do with the world-building in season one. (VFX Supervisor) Dan DeLeeuw even kind of came on fairly early just because he was with us in that post-production process of season one. And he’s such a storied brain, we brought him in, but yeah, we needed that captain. I had met with Justin and Aaron. I brought them into the studio before season one. We had met generally. I really liked them for Loki. We had already brought on Kate, and so we passed them off to another project, which ended up not working out, either, and then they ended up becoming Moon Knight.

So, they were guys who were in our system, that we liked and had been in the periphery of Loki, and while they were doing additional photography for Moon Knight, I recruited Kevin Feige, the big guns, to go in there and visit them on set and say, ‘Hey, we want you to take the reins of Loki and come in on that.’ So, it was like a meandering process, but it had felt like they were eventually going to come on and work on this.

Loki season one is perfect television in the Mr. Robot sense of the word. Coming off season one, what were the challenges? You’ve established this great world, great villain in Jonathan Majors’ He Who Remains – was it a high bar to jump?

KW: Yes. Incredibly high bar. Partially, though, one of the biggest challenges was, early on, Tom and I just talking about not only was season one good, and then people liked it, which is not a given. We had a really great time making it, and it was a crazy time in the world, but it was, like, a really exciting, happy process for everybody involved, and coming back for a season two did feel a little bit like, well, how do we capture that lightning in a bottle again?

And so, we had a lot of conversations about we can’t just come back and try to play the hits and do what we did in season one, because even if we recapture it and do that again, it won’t be fulfilling, and I think there was a sense of we built something really cool, and the audience went along with it. It was big sci-fi weird stuff, and if they have bought it, it felt like we had a lot of, then, freedom to go further and deeper with these characters and not fast-forward. Like, it had this great cliffhanger.

Let’s pick up in that: what is the drama and the stakes of what is happening with Loki in the TVA with Sylvie? And I think anything that could be scary about picking up in a new season like this goes away when everybody just starts going, what is right for these characters? We’re not trying to build some bigger Marvel arc. We’re not trying to do this. If we’re true to these characters, we will deliver on what people liked about season one, and we can build the world out and dive deeper into these characters and their drama.

So, tonight we see that there’s cacophony. Loki returns to the TVA, Mobius forgets him. Sylvie’s lost. However, the TVA was destroyed in season one, and we come back to place where it’s still in existence. Was this just the best place to start with the mishegoss of timelines?

KW: I think, for us, the exciting thing then was, in that chaos of multiverse, to be able to play with those first few minutes of season two, being loose footing for Loki, trying to make sense of what is happening. Is this a different TVA, which shouldn’t make sense, because it’s outside of time? So, it’s not like it’s a different reality. Is this ours? Why don’t they remember him then?

And I think it just gave us a groundwork. We wanted to come in and not do the same thing in season two. We had a high bar that we wanted to hit, and a cyclical story structure is hard to do. Eric, our writer, even said, I think we can pull this off, but it’s going to be messy for a while, while we figure it out. That opening allowed us the tools and the groundwork to start telling this time-looping narrative, and it was sort of the mechanism to kind of get this whole thing rolling. That just gave us a lot of character drama.

Now Sylvie – we see her for a minute toward the end of episode one. That’s Loki looking into the future…

KW: Yeah. So, in the context of that, he’s been slipping in the past and to the present, and in that moment, he has slipped into the future, and so, he is seeing something in Sylvie that has yet to happen for him on his personal timeline, that will loop back around again.

Does Loki season 2 like other Marvel series bridge to another big movie in the near future? Clearly, the next Avengers: Kang Dynasty, but are there others?

KW: Nothing that I could say in the near future. The implications will ripple into other projects, though, certainly, and the TVA is an organization that will continue to have stories to tell, which is one of the exciting things about it to us.

Is there an arc here? Do you guys have, like, a five-season plan, a three-season plan, or do you take it season by season?

KW: We take it season by season, and there are certainly things that Tom and I and other casts have talked about of where we see this going, and I know there’s some excitement for that internally, but just from a storytelling standpoint, I think we always conceived of seasons 1 and 2 as a whole. That these are two chapters of the same book, and that season two is finishing that book, and there are other stories to be told there, but I think they would be new books, if that’s not too coy.

Are we going to be just as shocked as we were at the end of season one? I mean, season one was jaw-dropping.

I hope so, but what I will say is it’s not a cliffhanger. We want to be able to deliver real fulfillment in what we’re doing, but I do think it’ll be exciting and unexpected and everything people like about this show.

It was a cold night, well morning, in New york. You stepped out of the club for a breather, but you decided to call a cab.

The dress you were wearing was shorter than you liked, but your girlfriends convinced you to wear it. You didn't want to go out tonight, but they are pretty convincing. Clubbing for you was too overwhelming; you would have been happy just staying at home watching a lousy reality show. 

A white limo pulled up to the front of the building, and one of the bouncers from the club opened the car door for you.

You stepped in, and he closed it. The window that separated you and the driver rolled down.

“Where am I taking you, sweetheart?” His New York accent was rough and captivating.

“Oh, um, corner of Cooper square and East fourth, please.”

You sat back and just relaxed.

“So you live in NOHO? Must have a rich father, am I right?” he said, looking back at you in the rearview mirror.

You chuckle, “Yeah. I am the product of an affair of a super social elitist, and he bought me an apartment and gives me a monthly allowance as hush money.”

“Shit, really?”

“Yup, as you can tell, I have major daddy issues,” you say sarcastically.

He laughed at your comment, and the rest of the ride was quiet.

He pulled up to the corner, “Well, here we are, sweetheart.”

“Thank you,” you were bent down, shuffling over to the rolled window, and he was looking down your dress through the rearview mirror.

“Here you go,” you say, handing him some money.

“Nah, just keep it.” 

You give him a weird look, “Are you even from New York? What kind of cabbie does not accept money from his fare?” you shuffle through your purse and pull out some more bills, “Now you use this and buy the missus something nice.”

You reach through and put the money in his jacket pocket.

You exit the limo and walk to your gate.

“Hey sweetheart, I don't have a missus!” he yelled from the driver's side.

“Okay? Then go buy yourself something nice, sweetheart!” you yelled back, giving him a wink.

You walk through your gate laughing.

He was laughing as well, but the smile disappeared when he saw a man follow behind him before the gate door closed.

He quickly took action.

He went up the gate, took his gun out and his silencer, and shot it open.

He walked into the building and saw that the elevator door was closing. He saw the man standing next to you.

You looked over at the man and gave him a friendly smile. He gave one back.

You were on the 13th floor, and you exited the shaft as he did as well. You went down the hallway, and he went the opposite way.

You never paid attention to the other tenants in the building, so you thought nothing of it when we went to his door. You swore an older lady lived there, but you could have been mistaken.

You got your key out and opened the door. It all happened so quickly, he pushed you into your apartment, and you tripped over your heels, falling to the hardwood.

The man took out his gun and aimed it at you. You looked up at him and laughed, and he just gave you a strange worried look.

It was only 2 minutes later when the door to your apartment opened, and the cabbie was looking at you in awe; he had his gun drawn but put it away when he saw that you were covered in blood.

“Hey sweetheart are you okay?” he asked, very concerned.

In a calm tone, you answered, “Yeah, why wouldn't I be?”

“I saw the guy follow after you after I dropped you off; he didn't hurt you?”

“No, of course not,” you smile sweetly at him, “Aww were you worried about me?”

“Well, you're my fare, and I wouldn't be a good cabbie if I let you go home knowing you might get hurt.”

You walked towards him, stroking the outside hem on his jacket, “Do you do this for all of your fares?”

“Only the pretty ones and those that tip me a lot,” he chuckles, and you do the same.

“Well, you didn't have to come and try to save me. As you can probably tell, I can handle myself.”

“Yeah, I can see that. Are you sure you aren't hurt?”

“Yes, I'm sure.”

The body of the man was on the floor, groaning and twitching.

“Do you wanna do the honors?” 

He gave you a wicked grin, “You are absolutely unhinged,”

“So are you.”

“You know nothing about me, sweetheart.”

“Well, I know that a similar being tethers you and me. How good is your Egyptian mythology?”

He shrugs, “as decent as the next guy.”

“Well, in Egyptian mythology, there is a deity known as Apophis. They were known as The Great Serpent. They embodied chaos. And I am their avatar.”

“You're an avatar?” he asked with relief.

You nod.

“How did you know I'm an avatar?”

“The gods get very loud when there are others around.”

“You can hear them?”

“Yes. They are everywhere. If you open yourself to them, they can set you free.” you essay in a hushed tone.

You were close to the cabbie; the smell of cheap cigarettes and previous brown liquor stained him. Noses were barely touching when I asked him your question.

“Who are you?”

He looked deep into your eyes, pulled his gun out of his jacket pocket, and aimed it at the dying man on the floor, he pulled the trigger, and the only noise in your home was the man's last breath.

“I'm Jake Lockley.”

There are no spoiler warnings to this video! Mike looks at the diagnostic criteria for DID and discusses how the portrayal of the character Steven Grant, played by Oscar Isaac, can be considered in the light of the way that the DID is presented in the episode.

9 minutes, in this second review video, Dr Mike Lloyd, CTAD Clinic Director, looks at the next episode (Ep 2) of Marvel's Moon Knight, a depiction of a superhero with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). There are no spoiler warnings to this video! Here, Mike has a look at how the portrayal of the main character, Steven Grant (played by Oscar Isaac), could be seen as a manifestation of psychosis if sufficient knowledge about dissociation was not present. The character has a number of signs and symptoms that could be interpreted either through the lens of psychosis or dissociation, and Mike considers how problems with diagnosis can occur, as they often do in many people diagnosed with DID.

Y/N, Meet Marc (Steven Grant x Reader, Marc Spector x Reader)

Summary: Steven's good friend Y/N is kidnapped by Arthur Harrow's men, and they narrowly escape with Layla and Steven. A few hours after Steven ran off into the night with a jackal, Y/N heads to his place to figure out what the fuck is going on.

Marc sighed, shoulders drooping. He was in the process of shoving clothes and toiletries in a carry-on bag. He had a flight booked for Cairo and had to get to the airport, fast. He didn’t have time for a chat with Steven’s best friend Y/N right now. 

However, Y/N had just barely escaped Arthur Harrow’s compound with him and Layla, so he felt he owed them a conversation. 

That didn’t mean he had to like it.

No bc I think what really gets me is.

1. Steven's heart being weighed with Marc's. Aren't they different people, so shouldn't they be weighed separately?

2. I wonder if it would balance faster if Jake's heart was present

3. Steven's arc this episode.... was incredible. I have a lot to say about it.

4. But what really gets me. Is. As soon as Steven is completely stone or sand or whatever. Marc... gets to go to the field of reeds.

Will Marc remember Steven? How does the field of reeds work? Do you forget all your pain? Will Marc see Steven again? People will definitely say Marc is whole again, but thats not the point.

Will Marc hear anyone?

Steven fighting for Marc and protecting Marc when Marc has protected Steven this whole time. "Well, if he's me... I'm him." Steven saving Marc. "I prefer cricket!" The thumbs up.

What the hell.

The great thing about the legends of vox machina series is while the story will be the same it wont be verbatim the live stream. Like how when you finish a book series that’s it, there’s never a new scene with those characters, you never learn anything new about them, theres nothing new to experience with them. But this will be like we get to see our fav characters again in a brand new story but also we know how the story will go.

Or I guess it’s like a book to tv series adaptation if the book was written by multiple authors who are also playing the characters in the tv series.

What I’m saying is I’m VERY excited

Kudos to Brennans acting cause in the second episode when they visit the oracles and Zerxus has that conversation with Asmodeus and Z says “promise you won’t forget me” and Asmodeus responds “oh, I won’t forget you”. Brennan had just enough of an edge in his tone I had a red flag pop up like, wait was that a threat..? But then he played Asmodeus as going back to soft and gentle and in awe of Zerxus. Lulled us right back to where he wanted us.

He really had me thinking this betrayer god might be misunderstood but he left a nice bit of foreshadowing to lead right up to that reveal with the line “and I did nothing wrong” *chefs kiss*

I cannot get the “if you look down and see the stars, what will you see if you look up” line out of my head. What a beautifully terrifying, dream-horror moment. Just *chefs kiss* I aspire to be able to write something so perfect, so on theme, and the TIMING followed by “you see the ground. And it is fast approaching” just chills, bravo

I’ve realized what it is about Brennan Lee Mulligans DMing style that I like so much. Its the way he handles exposition. He is a master at showing, not telling and he does that with all his lore drop exposition moments. Best example so far is…

When Xerxus gets that nat 20 religion check on Vespins body. Brennan could have just said “you realize he’s a cleric of a betrayer god and he was used to death by that god”. Nice, to the point exposition.

No, instead he tells a story, first setting down the logic behind a cleric slowly gaining more power, and that it would be bad if a god gave a cleric too much at once. Then he describes the logic behind the betrayer gods choices, that the betrayer god might not care about their followers so much. And that allows his players to add those two things together to realize and really understand exactly what happened to Vespin to be in the state he is.

Its just perfectly done! What an amazing story teller he is to be able to provide a lore drop with so much emotion behind it. And to provide his players that experience of dawning realization and horror that your character, if they were a real person, would experience on having that same epiphany.

How does he do that? Is that all off the cuff, improv? Does he write or at least plan some of this stuff out beforehand? How do I do that, cause man oh man I want to do that. That’s so much fun as a DM and as a player.

4. Arthur Harrow as a Doctor, should be labeled as horror.

6. Wait. Taweret is the goddess/protector of mother's, children, and childbearing. Khonshu is the god/protector of the moon and knight travelers... and Ammit is the personification of retribution... interesting.

6a. No, but if you think about it- you could argue that Taweret is there Steven, Khonshu for Marc, and Ammit for Jake from Statefarm (WHENEVER HE SHOWS UP.)

7. The boat and the duat. Man I need to reread Kane Chronicles.
