You ever think about how the last pain Marc felt before Khonshu was of being shot, and the first pain Marc felt after Khonshu was of, again, being shot?

It's hard not to think of Marc's experience mentally in the tomb, specifically right after Harrow and his followers finally find him. Harrow immediately points out that it's just him, and recalls his first morning waking up without Khonshu in his head. About how quiet it was, how the silence was liberating. Up until this point, Steven's been fronting, ever since he helped Layla with the cartonnage, not giving Marc the chance to really feel Khonshu's absence, I imagine.

As soon as Layla brings up her father and Marc finally fronts, I don't think he really gets the chance to acknowledge this liberating silence that Harrow mentions in the wake of simultaneously trying to get Layla to safety and being confronted with the fact that she now knows the truth about the dig site. I believe it's not until he's literally forced to listen to Harrow recollect his experience that he fully realizes Khonshu, for the first time in roughly ten years, is no longer with him.

Right here, it dawns on him.

And it's not long after this realization that he's shot in the chest, not far from the spot Bushman shot him in in the desert before Khonshu claimed him as his fist and healed him. And I think because of that, in that moment where Marc is drifting away and bleeding out in the water, Khonshu's absence is that much more resounding.

Side thought: there's also the way Harrow is so intentional with his words when trying to manipulate Marc. He emphasizes how Marc's a free man, knowing that he's probably never felt truly free. It's his mind that prevents him from achieving any semblance of liberation. It's his mind that refuses peace without Steven. It's his mind that Khonshu latched onto, feeling the pain and knowing that meant being a malleable avatar.

Steven is still pissed at him sure but how about Khonshu ? He didn't called him worm or idiot at the moment. He didn't ask Marc to take the body even tho he could. He trusted Steven and finally admit his whole existence

Your honor, this is the moment the defendant stole my heart! lol. One of my favorite scene. Steven was so earnest and desperate to convince Layla to trust him. Can't imagine being her, seeing someone she's known for years to claim he's a completely different person. With no memory of her at all. She looked hurt at first but after that she realized he's telling the truth. I wish this scene was longer. I need to hear Layla telling Steven why he's in danger, how she met Marc, how long they've been married, when was their wedding, did they go to the Maldives for real?? Gimme all the details! OTL

finally started watching moon knight and aaaaa the egyptian rep is so PHENOMENAL!!!! like genuinely without any exaggeration? the creators absolutely outdid themselves. and of course they did, because it was actually authentic—mohammed diab and may al calamawy and hesham nazih are from the middle east, from egypt, and oh my God it shows it shows it SHOWS im!!! everything, EVERYTHING—from the egyptian dialect arabic, to the onscreen racial diversity, to the storefronts with arabic lettering—it's perfect. the way the taxi driver talks to marc? the broken english? that's an egyptian taxi driver for you!!! the guy who poured the coffee out of that massive ass contraption? we HAVE those guys!!! they're insane and they stock like 15 types of drinks and everyone loves paying them to pour stuff!!! on the boat, when the older woman did that funky lil cheer that marc remembered from his an laylas wedding? thats a fucking zaghrata!!! every egyptian woman does it to celebrate!! my grandmother does that when someone announces good news!!! and theres so much theres SO MUCH i could yell about (the street stalls! the bad driving!! SKYSCRAPERS RIGHT NEXT TO GIZA!!!!) but i wouldn't be able to fit it all here so let it just be known that moon knight is absolutely fucking INCREDIBLE for us egyptians. i cannot believe we got actual rep in the fucking mcu, something that is so universally watched and admired, but i am so, so unbelievably glad. kinda makes me wanna cry that people in the west are finally gonna see my egypt in all her loud, chaotic, messy, beautiful glory, and im so so proud of the creators for pulling it off :')
