Intro dialog for every Guilty Gear character day 3: Johnny
Sol: Your bounty is high enough to pay for my trip to the moon three times over.
Johnny: You ain't the first person to try to claim that bounty, you ain't gonna be the last.
Ky: You were also orphaned by the Crusades?
Johnny: That bloody war took many a good man's life.
May: When are you going to let me pilot the May Ship again?
Johnny: The last time I let ya drive her ya nearly crashed into Illyria Castle.
Axl: Out of curiosity what's the craziest thing you've ever stolen?
Johnny: Alright, now I wont say which, but one of the Kings of Illyria’s crown is a fake, if you know what i'm saying.
Chipp: Come on, you're wearing all black and you wield a katana, just take the full plunge and become a ninja.
Johnny: Sorry buddy, but if I became a ninja, I would just be too cool for the world to handle.
Potemkin: I'm here to retrieve stolen property from Zepp.
Johnny: What are you talking about? I haven't taken anythin from you guys… recently.
Faust: How’s… May’s… Condition???
Johnny: She’s doing a lot better thanks to you, Doc.
Milia: I work for the government now, so I have to take you in.
Johnny: I’m sure ya asked for this job personally, to see good old Johnny.
Zato: This is nothing personal, I'm just doing my job.
Johnny: And when I cut ya down, it also won't be anythin personal.
Ram: I'm confused, I thought pirates were supposed to be in the ocean, not the sky.
Johnny: Ya don't have to have such strict definitions for everythin sometimes a spade is just a spade.
Leo: A lawbreaker stands before me, and I will be the mighty judge, jury and executioner.
Johnny: I’m startin to think this ain’t no jury of my peers.
Nago: Your swordsmanship, it reminds me of samurai from ages past.
Johnny: You lookin to relive some of your glory days? Because I'm more than willin to help.
Gio: Look I have my orders to take you in, but I still owe you one, so even if I win I'll just say you gave me the slip.
Johnny: Ah that's sweet, looks like it ain't a dog eat dog world after all.
Anji: Steal from the rich, give to the poor, you’re a real Ishikawa Goemon.
Johnny: First time I heard that one, normally I get Robin Hood.
I-No: Don't even try it lover boy, I'm way out of your league.
Johnny: Damn, and I had a great witch related pick up line and everything.
Goldlewis: Outlaws like you give us cowboys a bad name.
Johnny: Nah, lawmen like you ruin the real spirit of the cowboy.
Jack-O: Is that a cowboy costume? Shouldn't you have a gun not a sword?
Johnny: It ain't no costume, I'm the bona-fide real thing.
HC: Ah the showdown, the best part of any western movie.
Johnny: In a quick draw it all comes down to who's faster, unfortunately for you.
Baiken: Put that sword down, you ain't no damn samurai.
Johnny: Cowboy, pirate, samurai, what can I say I have a lot of feathers in my cap.
Testament: I hear you've adopted many an orphaned child from the Crusades.
Johnny: I'd like to think your old man Kliff woulda been proud of me.
Bridget: Your bounty is HOW MUCH!!!
Johnny: Run along now lass, bounty hutin ain't nothin you want to involve yourself with.
Sin: Hey man, your ship looked so cool while I was riding next to it on a dragon!
Johnny: You did what now?
Delilah: Your ship was nice… um, thanks for letting me ride in it.
Johnny: Ah much alleged, good old Johnny's always willin to lend a helpin hand.
Asuka R#: I am not the real “That Man” I am simply a clone.
Johnny: So the coward made a fake to hide from his past, I see how it is.
Asuka R Kreutz: I am deeply sorry for all the pain my past actions have caused.
Johnny: Ah ain't that sweet, ya apologized, to one person who you helped make an orphan, what about all the rest?
Elphelt: Is that a noble outlaw, coming to steal this fair maiden's heart?
Johnny: Normally I'm the one who uses the cheesy pick up line, feels weird, the shoe being on the other foot.
ABA: Your ship is a whale, yet you didn't paint it blue, what is wrong with you?
Johnny: I didn't paint the May Ship, she was just born that way.

Chica perhaps Sayu?? Bubbly and pink!
Oh oh! Roxanne as Eve?? For the attitude?
uhmmmmmmm perhaps Monty as DJSS? Maybe??
you might already have every character planned out but WAHH! My favorite things!!
Oh would be more of a fnaf characters in place of NSR characters, or more an actual merge? Like, would it just be the story of NSR with the personality changes and look of fnaf characters, or will there be more fnaf elements introduced?
I read back on your nsr posts and you said Y/N would be Tatiana (although, i kind of personally see it a better fit for Vanessa! The colder attitude and everything?)
But it does mean some characters just don’t fit into certain others (Neon J and 1010 throughly confound me, no clue who they might be)
How much will you change and merge to make everything make sense in the story? What will you keep or have to discard?
HI ANON HIIII YOU’RE RIGHT ABOUT ME HAVING THE CHARACTERS PLANNED OUT!!! AAAAND YOURE ACTUALLY SPOT ON WITH 2/3 OF YOUR CHARACTER IDEAS LOLZ!!!!
here’s how the character lineup is looking so far :3
djss - DJ Music man!!!!!! …tho i was going with sun and moon originally entirely out of Blorbo Bias xDD sayu - chica!!! if they aren’t doing anything with the chica of the sea picture we got in sb then IM TAKING MATTERS INTO MY OWN HANDS HERE X3 dk west - monty!!! it makes sense in my head somehow yinu - gregory! another thing that somehow makes sense to me yinu’s mom - freddy!! ive got a Whole Thing Planned here TRUST neon j - bonnie!! im thinking REAL hard about the whole “wet floor bot” thing he had going for him in ruin tbh… 1010 - staff bots with different hairstyles… think like the Roxy salon minigame in hw2 with them :3 eve - roxy!!!! AS YOU MENTIONED IT MAKE SENSE :3 plus the whole eve + zuke thing kinda tied in with moon and Roxy… hey man it feeds into some of my headcanons for them so it makes sense to me xD tatiana - y/n! solely because i think there’s So Much Potential mayday - sun!!!! very obvious choice here hehe >:3 zuke - moon!!!! it just makes sense!!!! ellie - random silly wet floor bot lol kliff - VANESSA!!!! (…is it obvious yet that i need some kinda Thing between Vanessa and y/n in all my fics SO baddddd xP)
the overall kinda idea i have for this silly AU is gonna be more no straight roads than fnaf in the end and as a result im gonna try sticking to about ~65% of NSR canon! think something LIKE NSR with fnaf characters, though because some stuff has to get shuffled around and prodded at to make it work, it’s not 1 to 1 the same lol
there’s gonna be some (albeit as minor as i can make them) plot changes and some personality changes and DEFINITELY some Environment changes, though im sticking to both sources as best as i can! AND im making some more fnaf elements incorporated for sure!!!!
ive been kinda keeping the brainrot for this AU on the back burner since like January lol!!! it started as a simple little silly one time discussin and then it hit me over the head full force outta the blue recently for some reason xD so now ive decided to make it a whole thing!!!! ive never REALLy done a crossover au before so this is gonna be a fun new experience!!!!!! >:3

Sometimes when you like two things you mix them together in the most self-indulgent way possible, accuracy be damned
Extra comments about the roles under the cut
If you don't know what the roles are, they're:
Wind - Mayday
Fire - Zuke
Moon - DJ Subatomic Supernova (DJSS)
Sea - Sayu
Pomegranate - Yinu
DE - Yinu's Mother
Cake Pops - 1010
Coffee Berry - Red/Zimelu
Popping Candy - Yellow/Haym
Coconut Cream - White/Rin
Choco Banana - Blue/Purl-Hew
Spearmint - Green/Eloni
Shining Glitter - Neon J
Knight - Eve
Millie - Tatiana
Pitaya - DK West
Ananas - DJ Zam
Timekeeper - Kliff
Yes, I am completely aware Mayday is the chaotic one and Zuke is the calm one but let's just say Wind is the calm one but takes the role of Mayday and Fire's the chaotic one but takes the role of Zuke
Wind being Yinu, Millie being Yinu's mom, and Sugar Swan being the dead father would've been absolutely perfect, but I had to have Wind and Fire be buddies
Besides, they match the red light green light thing too which I'm a sucker for
I know Popping Candy is always in the center, but Coconut Cream is literally stated to be the leader of the group and I can't just gloss over that
It's not obvious, but Knight is Eve
Knight being Fire's salty ex is just a funny thought to me and the Discord so he had to be Eve
Wind's Mayday, of course Millie had to be Tatiana
In this AU, Fire and Pitaya are brothers and Wind and Millie are probably not related
I couldn't really think of a good role for Ananas but they had to be there because the other legends were
So they're DJ Zam
I absolutely hate Kliff with a burning fiery passion but Timekeeper matched so w e l l
Kliff has beef with Tatiana, Timekeeper has beef with Millie
How could I not

TCoVC: Full Moon Nightshift- 10-vestigate the Scenes/A Wild Moth chase
I decided to do a scene of The Creatures of Vinyl City story; Full Moon Nightshift, where after a chase montage, Mayday and Zuke meets up with Kliff the Satyr who has been hiding in the safe room from the strange five moth beasts upon his arrival at the warehouse and the three investigate for clues after knowing the disappearance of 1010, so yeah, enjoy!
[scene starts with the ending of a Benny hill theme playing chase montage that has a door being opened as Mayday and Zuke goes inside the room and shuts the door quickly with meanwhile in the room, the two stand at the door trying not to make any loud sounds so they can avoid what they have seen as sounds of inhuman breathing and deep autotune growling can be heard from the hallway which then fades away afterwards, which made B2J sigh in relief]
Zuke: Man, talk about a wild goose chase that was.
Mayday: Tell me about, that was the third time we got chased by a cryptid! Like first we got chased by a Reverse Mermaid, then a Manaha and now five giant moth beasts!
Zuke: and the first time we got chased by a group of Cryptids.
Mayday: True dat to you.
???: Ah! There you two are. [Mayday and Zuke looks around for the source of the voice until they look right as Scene cuts to Kliff the Satyr who has approached to them from being in a dark corner] I was wondering where my favorite duo would show up.
Mayday: Hey Kliff, you managed to get here before us!
Kliff: Sure have! Heard about this next moth beast infestation would happen in this here warehouse so I decided to come here before sunset to gather up what we can find for our cryptid investigation, even with a cryptid! but, here is the bad news, the bad news is that the cage I was setting up get destroyed by an ice elemental move. However, I did find something!
Zuke: *crossing arms* and what did you find?
Kliff: Here, I found them from some corners and put them one each in a jar. [scene shows Kliff opening his yellow coat to reveal five jars of glowing neon liquid] Neon Juice of five colors! [Mayday grabs one of them, which is green] I happened to step two of them during my investigation, the first one is white and it felt really cold like December’s snow, and the second one is red which acts the opposite of the white goo; it feel very hot like summer’s sand.
Zuke: and what about the Blue and Yellow?
Kliff: Oh those, The Blue one feels like water when touched and the Yellow one, it was a tricky one to contain it because when I get near it, it shocks me in a literal way! *he looks at Mayday* and the Green one Mayday is holding and opening is- [Cuts to Mayday with a opened jar of green neon liquid]
Mayday: *smells it* Hey, it smells like flowers and Fruits!
Kliff: a beautiful scent of nature, brings back good old days of meadows and forests. [he grabs the Green neon jar and puts it back in the coat after closing the lid of it] If we can find the DNA Turntable, we will find out who is responsible for the mystery of the strange giant moth infestations. And that reminds, May mentioned that she has made new friends, right?
Zuke: We sure did. Right May?
Mayday: Oh yeah, *fangirl styled* the dreamy five boys with the jackets and the looks and every- *realization snap* 1010!
Kliff: Yeah, those guys.
Mayday: we need to check and see if they are ok! *is about to go when..*
Zuke: Wait May! Remember, Those beasts could be roaming in this hallway we are in, we need to use walkie-talkies to communicate with 1010.
Mayday: Good Point Zuke, Good thing we got a lot of walkie talkies for Rin and Zimelu and PurlHew and Haym and Eloni! *gets out her walkie talkie and presses the talk button* White Prince, this is Bunka Junka, requesting a meet up here, over? *there was no response* Hello? Rin? You ok over there? *no response*
Zuke: Try talking to Zimelu. [scene cuts to Mayday]
Mayday: *does a thumbs up and turns the communication up a little to a red light* Redhot Punk, this is Bunka Junka, requesting a meet up here, over? *there was no response* [scene cuts to Zuke turn his dial to blue light]
Zuke: Cool Blue, this is Shakala Bam, do you copy? *there was no response as he taps the speaker* [Scene cuts to Mayday turning the dial yellow]
Mayday: Electric Boy? Do you read me? *no response as she turns the dial green* Green Melon? *there was no response as she puts her walkie-talkie away from her mouth after pressing the talk button as Zuke gets to her*
Zuke: I got no response from PurlHew.
Mayday: same with the others, perhaps maybe the batteries are dead or maybe they got eaten!
Kliff: May, Moths do not eat people, not even Mothpeople as well.
Mayday: Really?
Kliff: Yup, I learnt that from a journal of Cryptozoology that mothpeople eats normal human food…and nature sources like apples and honey.
Zuke: He does have a point May.
Mayday: Alright, fair enough. But for now, we need to Call Ten-Ten for a meetup. *the two males nod as they get to the door with Mayday getting out her walkie-talkie and presses the talk button* Rin, this is Mayday, [scene cuts to a walkie-talkie laying on what appears to be a snow pile as the camera zooms out] we are going to meet up in the lobby, we will see you there. *the talk stops, leaving the walkie-talkie to sink into a small snow pile*
[Scene cuts to a dark hallway with Mayday and Zuke with a flashlight in his hand to light up the way and Kliff at Mayday’s side as he listens to Mayday’s story]
Mayday:…And I figured; Hey, these boys want to see some cryptid action, so I tell them that they can come along as long as they brought the right stuff for the investigation.
Kliff: and what did they bring?
Mayday: Some Snacks just in case we get hungry, Water for PurlHew which seems strange, some batteries for our flashlights, and a box of glowsticks.
Kliff: Glowsticks? Strange yet useful just in case we ran out of batteries.
Mayday: Yeah, I tell them about that as a compliment and I think they took it well with the “Yeah sure” and “Good one”, they think I am funny! *giggles like a fangirl and she and Kliff got stopped by Zuke* and we have arrived! Kliff, I would like you to me-
Zuke: Uhh May? TenTen is not here.
Mayday: wait what? [scene cuts to Zuke’s point of view where there is no sight of Ten-Ten] Well maybe they are hiding, [scene cuts to Mayday walking and stopping] just Zimelu getting his brothers to try to fool with us. *puts her hands next to the sides of her mouth* Hellooo! Rin?! Zimelu?!
Zuke: *puts his hand next to the side of his mouth as he looks for them with his flashlight* PurlHew?! Haym?! Eloni?!
Mayday: TenTen?!
Zuke: No sights of them, something must be up.
Mayday: I agreed. Oh no, I knew we shouldn’t split up, because they could be lost or worst! *Zuke puts his hand on her shoulder to get her attention from freaking out as she looks at him*
Zuke: Don’t worry May, we will find them like we did with Yinu Back in Natura Woods when we are looking for her after running and hiding from her Manaha Mom. You just need to calm down and relax, they could not be dead because of the Moth Beasts.
Mayday: *calms down and breathes* You are right, thanks Zuke. Now I need is a flashlight, *she turns around to Kliff* and you Kliff, use the GPS on your tablet.
Kliff: You got it. *he gets out his tablet, meanwhile in a different room where a electric box is located, a large shadow rises to face it while making mechanical growling sounds and the shadow emits a faint neon yellow glow*
[scene cuts back to the lobby when they heard a faint sound of a computer startup jingle from 1995 within a different location as they look around, then it cuts to Mayday with Zuke looking around for a while]
Mayday: Guys, do you heard that?
Zuke: Yeah, sure did. Sounded like a old computer startup jingle. [scene cuts to Kliff with his Tablet which done a few bolts]
Kliff: Sure did an-…what the? *pokes at the tablet screen* The GPS wouldn’t work.
Mayday: What’s wrong with it?
Kliff: I am not sure, I pull it up and then, it responded with a response fail pop up! *B2J comes over and sees it on the tablet*
Zuke: how did that happen?
Mayday: maybe it has to do with that mysterious sound we just heard just second ago.
Kliff: *he sees a notification* Uh fellas? I got a notification on my building map app, and I think I know the problem. The Electric Box has been disrupted by some sort of electric powers, I think someone doesn’t want us to find our boys. *turns on flashlight mode with the map app still on* Guess we have to use the Full Moon’s light as our light source for now, [scene cuts to his point of view shining light at the lobby area until he saw a flashlight] Hey May, I found your flashlight!
[Scene cuts to The Flashlight’s angle being shined on by Kliff’s Tablet flashlight and Zuke’s Flashlight]
Mayday: so that’s where I left my flashlight, *gets to it to pick it up* I must’ve dropped it when those moth beasts emerged. *she picks it up and turns it on, only there is no light* What in the world? *tries to turn it on and off again only it is fully off* I just put on a new battery! *opens flashlight and gets out the battery* Kliff, do you have a scan app?
Kliff: Oh yeah, definitely! *gets it on* and good news is that it doesn’t need any connection. *uses the scanner on the battery and gets the status result* But the bad news is that it appears that the battery has been drained out of its electricity of some sorts.
Mayday: Drained out already? How did that happened?
Kliff: Zuke, shine the light at Mayday’s hand if you will. *Zuke Shines the light on Mayday’s Hand and sees something yellow poking out* Aha! Our first clue of the battery. *grabs the yellow thing with his fingers and it reveals to be a strand of yellow seta which gave him a small electric tingle* It looks like some big, fluffy and yellow gotten into the flashlight and absorb electricity from Mayday’s Flashlight, and you what this means you two?
Zuke: Search up for clues?
Kliff: That’s our plan of action, but not the answer.
Mayday: When there is a elemental absorption ability, the elemental creatures gets empowered?
Kliff: Exactly! Looks like we are dealing with Elemental Moth Beasts, an uncommon thing of those Cryptids. But no time for scary story montages, let’s look for clues on the whereabouts of 1010 before we are caught by the dreaded moth beasts.
Mayday: Ok boys, lead the way! *the two boys are in front of Mayday and they move on, the scene pans up to a dark area and a pair of glowing neon white eyes glare at the heroes while snarling*
[Scene cuts to a different hallway as B2J and Kliff arrive at a doorway with no door as they enter]
Zuke: Well, this must be the bathroom, judging the toilets and sinks and a huge puddle.
Mayday: What does it lead? *Zuke shines his light at the middle of the puddle and sees tear up pieces of clothes and a walkie-talkie being on water which made Mayday gasped* It’s Purlhew’s clothes! He’s been eaten!
Kliff: Don’t be absurd May, If PurlHew got eaten, his shades and shoes would be on the ground unharmed. *shines the light at the mess* And it appears that the shoes exploded and there are no shades on the ground.
Zuke: Wait, how did you know Purlhew wears shades?
Kliff: May told me about 1010 and PurlHew through a text message. *walks to the mess and picks up a piece of cloth* Allow me to taste test the evidence and see what we are dealing with. *he takes a bite of the fabric and tries to get the flavors* Hmm…Tastes soggy like water, with a hint of electrolytes and…comes with a empty water bottle, which means another moth beast is a water elemental…though needs a grape flavoring.
Zuke: That explains the empty bottle, that thing must’ve absorb the water from the bottle.
Mayday: Alright Boys, we need to gather up clues and find out what happened to TenTen before morning, and I do not wanna get scolded by Mr. J for losing his boys, ok?
Zuke: *salutes* On it!
Kliff: I got the warehouse map on my map app, we can track down any items and use it for clues. Now let’s go!
[scene cuts to the furnace room where the three got the next clues: Pieces of Zimelu’s Clothes and a zippo lighter as Kliff takes a bite of the cloth piece, only resulted him running to a way to cool his tongue off, once did, he came back with a Cold relieved tongue]
Kliff: Hot and Spicy…Taste like cinnamon though.
Mayday: And the zippo lighter’s condition?
Kliff: *picks it up and tries to turn it on, but no avail after he scanned it* Useless, it got drained by a Fire Absorption ability from a fire elemental.
Zuke: Well that’s not good, what if one of them starts a arson?
Mayday: I think it involves houses Zuke.
[Scene cuts to a Greenhouse area where they found the next clues: Pieces of Eloni’s Clothes and a wilted flower in a flowerpot as Kliff takes a nibble of the cloth piece which made him spit it out]
Kliff: Blegh! Tastes earthy like grass!
Mayday: Wait, aren’t you a goat satyr? Are goats supposed to like grass?
Kliff: Goats eat Pastures, weeds, and brush plants along with hay, besides, eating grass is like eating boiled cabbage.
Zuke: *gags in disgust*
Mayday: Eww, That sounds disgusting!
Kliff: and look here, *Zuke shines his light in a plant* this poor plant here got its nature element absorbed by a nature elemental.
Zuke: and be thankful it didn’t got the rest of the plants, we could be in big trouble with a nature elemental that has too much nature powers. *the two nods in agreement*
[scene cuts to the electric box room where they find their clues; Pieces of Haym’s Clothes and his flashlight as Kliff takes a nibble of the cloth piece which made him jolt with electricity]
Kliff: Tastes citrusy with quite a electric shock. *Zuke touches the cloth and gets shocked by it* And here it is; The Electric Box!
Mayday: Let’s get it back to normal. *is about to go to it when she got stopped Kliff*
Kliff: Wait, and observe. *a fly flies to the electric box and when it gets near to it, it zapped the fly into a small ash pile, which made Mayday and Zuke jumped at the sight of it*
Zuke: That can’t be good.
Kliff: Yup, and that’s what happened when a elemental cryptid uses it power from absorbing the element source.
Mayday: One of them must’ve gotten stronger from Haym’s Flashlight Battery and my Flashlight Battery to make a electric barrier!
Kliff: and cause a Electronic Disruption ability in it, I think it is for the best to let it be, I think it’s effects are temporary.
[scene cuts to B2J walking in a different hallway with their light sources up and running]
Mayday: Hey Kliff? How did you get your tongue cool down from the spicy taste of Zimelu’s Cloth piece?
Kliff: Oh, just some Random snow pile from this hall.
Zuke: *raises eyebrow* what snowpile?
Kliff: *points at the floor where the light is pointing at* that snowpile.
[The scene shows the said small snowpile as pieces of Rin’s Clothes are there and the only clothes that remained unharmed is Rin’s Jacket and scene cuts back to the three]
Mayday: Rin’s Jacket! He must have left it before he went missing! *she picks it up and smells it* Ooh! Smells charming! *giggles as she puts it on*
Kliff: Allow me. *grabs a piece of cloth and bites it, only he crunches it and shivers from its cold temperature* Brrr! That feels cold and crunchy like a ice cube! Looks like we have found the clues to solve the mysterious disappearance of 1010.
Mayday: Great! Let’s get back to the safe zone an- *right before she finishes her sentence, the floor shakes with a stomp sound* What was that? [scene zooms to Kliff]
Kliff: *hears a beep sound from his Tablet and gets it out* Guys, I got good news and bad news, the good news is that my GPS is back on!
Zuke: *starting to get anxious from the continuing floor shaking stomps* and the bad news?
Kliff: *has a dread look on his face as the scene changes to the Tablet’s GPS screen which reveals a big red dot moving to the three small dots* the bad news…Something’s coming to get us.
[scene cuts to Mayday and Zuke and Kliff as a big shadow covering the three, making them turn their heads around and their eyes widen in fear as it reveals to be one of the Five Giant Moth Beasts but with Red glowing eyes and red glowing cheeks with its sharp teeth letting out red neon liquid from its mouth as it lets out its neon red wings]
Zuke: Uh Kliff? What shall we do now?
Kliff: allow me, I told off a silk moth to stop eating my shirt, I would do it to a Atlas Moth Beast with glow in dark pieces. *he walks towards the moth beast and clears throat* Great Hairstyle! Who is your hairstylist? Are you interested in rock? Where can I get it? *there was a silence for a moment* Good compliments, works every- *He gets blasted by a big beam of Fire and the fire reveals Kliff being covered in ash as he coughs with a weakly voice* I was just complimenting about your look…*coughs out ash*
[Scene cuts to the silhouette letting out a roar that sounds like a computer startup jingle from the modern times as it stands on its back leg with its front leg ready to strike the satyr down, But luckily Kliff was rescued by Mayday and Zuke grabbing him and getting him out of the way just in time the front leg slammed to the ground with the ash being out of Kliff]
Zuke: I don’t think it takes fondly in compliments. *Then, he and the other two saw three glowing eyes of different colors in the dark* Oh no, he brought in brothers!
Mayday: Quickly! Back to the safe room! *the three heroes turns around and starts running for their lives as they got chased by the moth beasts again, but without the fifth one* [the scene cuts to them running in different rooms with different moth beasts on one each after they split up, Mayday is being chased by the moth beast with the red eyes as she is catching her breath while running, she looks behind her and the beast is still chasing her, roaring at her as she stops near a water pump]
Mayday: Looks like you need to *turns the vial wheel around* wet down your attitude! *after a few cranks, a beam of water splashes at the monster’s face as it let out a distracted sound while trying to covering the stream up, leaving Mayday some time to run while she notices the different sounds it made from its skin, it sounded like hot metal hissing to the water with steam being made from its skin but she then runs after the Beast gets out of the water’s way*
[scene cuts to Zuke being chased by the moth beast with glowing blue eyes as it has summoned tentacles made out of water to grab Zuke with it, but he managed to dodge them as he glances at the moth beast with yellow glowing eyes behind him, he notices the yellow eyed moth is charging up a electric attack, he looks at the electric charge and then the water tentacles, giving him an idea as he whistles for the two’s attention]
Zuke: Hey, Bug Faces! Come and get me! *he taunts the two, which enrages them and as the water tentacle and bolt is reaching towards him, he ducks down and the two elements touch, making the blue eyed moth beast to get electrocuted and faints and Zuke stands up, leaving the yellow moth beast itching its eyes from the water* Well that was easy, but I should get a closer look at the moth beast, the sound that it made doesn’t sound organic. *he walks towards the moth beast, turns on the flashlight and shines it on its Tibia, which it is made out of metal* Hmm, looks this moth beast is mechanical, that explains the moth beasts’ glow in the dark features, Kliff told me that Moth Beasts do not glow in the dark…But at least, I have stopped it from trying to hurt me. *then, he saw that the cheeks glow blue again, meaning it is alive as he got surprised in a scared way* Or Not! *the moth beast gets up on its feet and let’s out a roar that sounds like a game console startup from 2000 on Zuke, soaking him with water as he runs away from the two moth beasts chasing him]
[Scene cuts to Kliff running and getting cornered by a wall of vines, making him feel trapped with the moth beast with glowing green eyes]
Kliff: Errm, let’s talk about this mister, you wouldn’t eat a smelly goat satyr, would you? *he gets roared at by the green moth beast which the roar sounded like a game console start up from 2016* I knew you are going to say that. *then, he has come face to face with its proboscis, which it is trying to eat him, but he dodges and tries to pull it away from him, then he remembered he brought a bag of ghost pepper pepper puffs with him in his coat pocket and opens it with his mouth and spits the bitten part out of his mouth* Here! Have some puffs with your *shoves the opened part of the bag at the proboscis’s opening* goat! *the monster ate the whole thing and gets red in the face as it autotune screeches in pain, making it look for something to cool down* [scene shows the beast’s POV and it sees a bucket of liquid so it drinks it with its proboscis to cool down, then it scans a note that says “Made you drink my goat milk, lol! -Kliff” and smacks the bucket away in rage and lets out that roar again as the scene cuts to Kliff running and catching his breath* got him!
[scene cuts to Kliff bumping Mayday and Zuke who was also being chased by the moth beasts and landed on their bottoms while rubbing their heads with their hands]
Mayday: Ow.
Zuke: That smarts.
Kliff: *stop rubbing his head* Mayday! Zuke!
Mayday: Kliff, thank Kul Fyra you are alright!
Zuke: *looks at the left and looks shocked* Uhh guys?? We got company! *the two looked at what Zuke’s Looking and they look shocked as well, the moth beasts are coming towards them as the three got up*
Mayday: Leg it! *they ran as fast as they could, making the four moths bump into each other and scene cuts to the three running into the door that leads to the safe room as Mayday opens the door for the boys while doing the gesture of hurry up* Go! Go! Go! *once the boys are in, Mayday gets in and shuts the door quickly before the moths get up, they growl and snarl at each other until a roar is heard that made them stop and turn around, they see the moth beast with glowing white eyes and glowing white cheeks*

are you still doing this meme? can you do near?
(I assume you mean this:)
How I feel about this character:
I adore Near. I recently saw someone compare him to a vegan cake and thought, “Great! I love those as well!”. I once had a fresh vegan chocolate/pear cake at one of the cafes nearby, and I almost cried because of how it good it was. Well-written characters are the vegan gourmet cakes of pastries...
But yes. I do think he’s a great character: complex, autistic, cool character design, he had some *thumbs up* memorable lines, and he’s just out there surviving, unlike, you know, most of our beloved DN characters. I feel like I’m always a fan of the characters who get shit just for surviving...
Anyway, it’s a shame that not even his creators realise how cool of a character he is. I like his flaws as well, but it always... surprises me when I read how harshly they judge him for the most random things. You obviously don’t have to like him, but I find it stupid to criticise him for “cheating”, if you want an example. I wasn’t aware that there were any established rules to the Kira vs L battle, haha. Lying, deceiving, stealing - these are things most of the DN characters did.
I personally don’t find anything about Near annoying, but it certainly sucks that Ohba doesn’t want any of his characters to have a happy ending.
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
I’m not committed to any Near ship, but I find him cute with Matt, and I understand why some people like Meronia and/or Moon River.
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
That would be him and Mello. Just has the most potential...
My unpopular opinion about this character:
He’s not that similar to L, and actually more complex than him
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
Actual happiness?
my OTP:
Yeah, no
my cross over ship:
Not in a romantic kind of way, but I want him to interact with Kliff (Fire Emblem), haha
a headcanon fact:
A headcanon fact is that he’s autistic. It’s more a fact than a headcanon, though. Also, he likes He-Man because he reminds him of Mello. That’s just... yeah

❛ requiem, felix and kliff — *
starter for @kliffsnotes
kitchen duty is his this week. the array of pots, pans, knives, boards, and platters that call for cleaning is nothing to scoff at. in the wake of the hunting season, the load is predictably larger than usual. still, he completes his chore without complaint, and the sun hasn’t completely dipped below the horizon yet by the time the remainder of the kitchen staff depart for the evening, leaving him behind.
everything is back in its rightful place, the floors washed, the counters scrubbed. ❛ there’s a lot of the lamb we didn’t use, ❜ one of the chefs had lamented earlier in the afternoon. ❛ what a waste. if you could think of something to do with it, i’d hate to see it rot in the storage. ❜
he supposes that the man had intended for him to make revisions to next week’s menu with it, but another idea comes to mind. with the milder days and lengthening nights of the horsebow moon comes a nostalgic scent wafting through stone-paved halls very different from these. perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to turn the unused meat into something while it’s still fresh.
the food served here at garreg mach has always exceeded the quality of the dishes back home — with its limited resources, faerghus has always struggled to maintain any kind of agricultural bounty. as a result, fare growing up had been modest by comparison, though he had never had any reason to complain. he can’t say he doesn’t enjoy the meals here — far from it — but now and then, he does find himself looking back on the simplicity of the food he’d known growing up, lacking in much variety of flavor but, in a way, more charming for it.
evening has moved on, replaced by the quieter hours of the early night by the time the earthen casserole is boiling comfortably, and he can sit down on one of the benches beside the stove.
the soft murmur of the stew as it cooks over low fire, the tranquility of the empty dining hall, the hearty aroma of simmering mutton, cabbage, and potatoes dusted with peppercorn wafting to fill the space… it’s a peaceful environment to enfold him as he opens his book and settles in to review his notes from the day’s lecture, calling up countless childhood autumns spent doing the same, longing instead for the fading sunlight of the outdoors. the thought brings a fleeting smile to his face.

20 and 34 FE Fic of choice?
Happy Valentine’s special! I planned to do more but unfortunally that wasn’t possible ah- but alas!
I had to skip some parts of the fic in order to get it done today but I’ll continue to review it and once it’s complete, I’ll summit the updated version.
And now, you will all fall victim to rarepair/crackship hell: 20.- Teacher + 34.- Vacation. (Kliff/Julia)
Five years of restless nights had finally paid off. A diploma framed on his wall proved that Kliff had, finally, become a full-fledged teacher.
It took him a couple of months handing away curriculums to receive a call back for an interview, which thankfully got him hired- Finally. If he had to put up with more drunk morons late at night before closing that god-forsaken bar one more week he would have lost it.
The school that he would be working for grouped primary and middle schoolers together inside their main building, while a smaller section of the school was dedicated for the kindergartens. By 2 PM, that area would be empty and closed off, even for the rest of the students. The principal did not want any conflicts to rise due to missing materials or broken property.
When the school year began, Kliff was prepared for the worst- lots of yelling with a side of disrespect for the new Science teacher. After all, middle schoolers could be quite rumbustious. But alas, his love for knowledge and recently found passion for teaching others was slightly stronger that his desire for peace and quiet.
Just slightly.
But there was no way in hell he was going to mess with high schoolers. Now they were an absolute nightmare.
The bell rang and so, first period started. Kliff’s name was already written on the whiteboard by the time all of the students got inside the room and took their seats. Some had their backs turned; talking loudly- as if the little rascals would never have another chance to talk again- Others tried to sleep on their recently claimed cubicles, and a very small number fiddled with their fingers, waiting for class to start.
Well. This will be a long semester.
During the breaks, he would seek refuge in the teacher’s room, which his colleagues found extremely funny as he practically dashed into the room less than 1 minute after the bell ring. His seniors would reassure the young blood that it would get easier the more experienced he got. Kliff just nodded and replied “I know”, only to go back to shug his coffee.
He did make friends, of course, mainly with the rest of the Science department- but he didn’t hang out with them often since they were a bit loud for his liking.
Sometimes, around midday, he would catch a glimpse of the kindergarten teachers as they took turns to gather their things and just bolt once the last child had been picked up. They cycled on groups of three while the remaining ones kept watch on the gate.
One of them seemed to be a newcomer, just like him- well, if her young age was not an indicator, her attitude sure was: Didn’t chat with the rest of the teachers, apologized constantly when going to her locker, and left in a hurry once she was done. Kliff would instantly know when she had entered the room, even when buried deep grading papers, because of the quiet “Excuse me-” she mumbled on her way. Other than that, he didn’t interact with the kindergarten department much.
Months went by, and winter break finally came. Two and a half whole weeks of no noise, grading, or rising up early than the sun.
By the gods, finally.
Even if the time was limited, he was willing to enjoy it at its fullest, in his own way.
This is why he had booked a small cabin in a nearby camp to spend at least a few days of his vacation. That camp was just outside of the city, next to a beautiful forest, whose main attraction was the round, clear lake in the middle of it all.
He arrived to the camp by afternoon, and 15 minutes later he had the keys and was inside the cabin.
First things first…he had to start a fire on the chimney and unpack his clothes. Nighttime would fall soon and he was warned that it would get rather cold during that time.
Thankfully, some logs and old newspapers were available to use, conveniently next to the chimney. He kneeled in front of the chimney to place the logs correctly and surround them with the newspaper, pushing the ashes away from the wood. Some of it got to his nose, making him sneeze- creating a mess. “Ugh, just great…”
After the stack of wood and paper was done, Kliff started to look for matches to start the fire, but there were none in sight. The box that had been left on top of the chimney was completely empty, so, Kliff threw it inside.
As much of an annoyance as it was to get out and ask for matches or a lighter, he had to do it unless he wanted to wake up ill, and there was no way we would spend his vacations sick. He took some paper towels and cleaned his soot-covered face before going outside. His shirt would have to get washed during the night.
After making sure that he looked presentable, Kliff ventured out of the cabin, keys in hand, and walked towards the entrance, where he remembered seeing a small store there when he arrived. The dim lighting signaled that the moon would rise soon enough, and thus, he would need to hurry before it was too dark to see the way back.
Kliff entered the store, closing his eyes harshly thanks to the lamp’s bright light. The store clerk- who he was certain he had seen before- greeted him cheerfully. “Welcome! How may I help you with?”
“Uh, Good afternoon. Do you have any match boxes?” He asked, resting his arms on the desk.
“Of course! I have to look for them at the back, it’ll be just a minute!” And with that, the clerk disappeared to the back. Kliff sighed, reaching out for his wallet.
Just at that moment, someone else came into the shop, approaching the front desk. He wasn’t really in the mood to socialize thanks to the chimney fiasco, nor he particularly cared to see who had come in- so, he kept digging holes to the door where the clerk had disappeared to.
Until the mystery person was on his peripheral vision.
He recognized her; it was his co-worker- the one that worked with the young children. Of all places to be, they just happened to pick the same spot, and arrive the very same day, didn’t they? If that wasn’t a big, convoluted coincidence, he didn’t know what would be.
She moved her head to look at him, feeling stared at, to which he responded by clearing his throat and pretending to look at something in the stands by the side.
After a couple of seconds of awkward silence, the back door opened once more, the clerk coming out of it with a bright smile on her face. “Here you go Mister! A brand new box of matches! Please come to the register with me.”
He walked towards the register, and payed for the somewhat large box. “Thanks. I’m leaving now.” He replied, tired.
“Come back soon, and have a cozy night!” Closed the clerk, turning her attention towards the other customer. Kliff prepared to leave the store and stumble in the darkness back to his cabin, but the chit-chat happening behind him made him stop.
“Well, hello there Julia! Time sure flies if you are already here, huh?”
“Ahaha…Good afternoon to you too, Anna. It’s nice to see you again.”
A warm and welcoming chuckle left Anna. “Well, how long are you staying this time?”
The purple haired woman- who he now knew was named Julia- sighed. “Only 3 days. Everyone else has different compromises to tend to these weeks.”
Anna pouted, resting her cheek on the palm of her hand. “Aww, that’s a shame, but at least I’m glad that you get to spend a couple of days with us! Your presence and patronage is always appreciated.” She finished, with her trademark smile coming back to her face.
The woman in front of the desk returned the smile. “Of course, I would never miss a chance to come here.”
Anna, after a short-lived chuckle, clasped her hands together once. “Well! Reminiscing is nice and all but as you know, the policy in this store is ‘Time is money’.” Leaning over the desk, she continued. “What can I help you with?”
Julia blinked once, before straightening her back, she had forgotten momentarily the reason she had come into the store. “Oh! Right, I was wondering if you had some candles and sugar? We forgot to bring them…”
Another chuckle. “No problem! Wait here just a moment!” With that said, Anna disappeared once again to the back of the store, leaving both adults alone once more.
Kliff had been standing in the same place since the conversation started, unable to come closer towards the door. It wasn’t like him to eavesdrop- hell, he didn’t really care about their idle chattering, but for some reason his co-worker sparked interest.
…Maybe it was because she was a fellow newbie, like him.
It was only when he caught Julia staring intensely at him that Kliff realized what he had done until that moment. He probably looked like a dumbass at best and a creep at worst.
He felt self-conscious and was about to bolt towards his cabin, powering through the darkness and forget this awkward interaction ever happened, but before he had a chance to react, Julia spoke up. “…Um, excuse me? Have we met?”
'Well- shit. Can’t escape this conversation now.’ He thought.
He looked to the sides and adjusted his stance, so it wasn’t awkwardly leaning towards the door, he attempted to look relaxed by placing his hands in his pockets, but it was clear that he was not comfortable.
With an out-of-habit shrug, he commenced. “You work at the 'Askran Plains School’, don’t you? I have seen you there a couple of times.” ’Yeah- that sure doesn’t sound creepy.’ Kliff chasticiced himself. He even cringed quite visibly once he proceeded at what had just been said.
By some miracle, she didn’t freak out. Instead, Julia stared at his face some more, before a light bulb went off in her head. “Oh! That’s why your face was so familiar! You are a professor there too.” Julia rubbed her upper arm, retreating to herself. “Ahaha…I apologize for not recognizing you. I- don’t pay the most attention, sometimes.”
Kliff sighed in relief on his mind, but moved his head to the side to avoid her glance, just in case. “Eh, it’s no big deal, we never really talked.”
She lowered her head. “N-no, we didn’t.”
More silence. He scratched his head. She looked back at the counter. 'Fantastic.’
He coughed, “Do you, like- own the place or something…?” Kliff questioned, now curious about her casual chatting with Anna earlier.
The question caught her off guard. “What? Oh! No, no! It’s just…” Julia took hold of one of her long strands of hair falling on the sides of her face, rolling it around her finger sheepishly. “We…I mean, my family and I, come here rather often, so the owners and staff are familiar with us.”
“Ah…I see.”
Another wave of silence followed, this time less tense. The woman was the one that coughed this time, standing properly and allowing her hands to fall to the front of her body. It was the 'teacher pose’. “I-I guess that I should introduce myself. My name is Julia, Julia Velthomer.” She followed with a quick bop of the head. “It’s n-nice to meet you.”
“Uuh…” He stammered, slipping a quiet 'ejem’ while gathering his own thoughts in a, less formal presentation. “I’m Kliff Cinderand.” He scratched the back of his neck. “Same to you.”
Just then, the door from the back swung open once more. “I’m baaaack! Sorry, we recently got restacked so the storage is quite messy.” Anna, noisy and cherry as ever, was holding the requested items on her arms, ignoring the situation that her two customers were in.
Julia had been startled by the sudden noises, holding her hands near her chest. “Ah- don’t apologize for that, Anna, I understand.” She made her way towards the counter as she spoke, taking out her wallet to pay. The exchange happened without any extra derails. “Here you go! Come back soon!”
“Thank you Anna, and-” Turning around, she looked at her colleague. “See you soon, Kliff.”
Julia reached out to her bag once more, pulling out a flashlight. She started to head towards the door, when Kliff reached out his hand towards her, realizing something. “Wait!” He called out, pausing for an instant to moderate his voice. “…I’ll go with you.”
To say that said action surprised her would put it lightly. “H-huh?”
Anna raised her eyebrows from her spot.
“…It’s, uh, a bit dark outside and I don’t have a flashlight on hand.” He continued, looking downcast. 'Should have followed up with that from the start…’
The lavender lady blinked, switching her gaze between the lantern in her hands and the science teacher. “Oh! Of course, I’ll accompany you to your cabin.”
He rubbed the back of his head again, ignoring the chuckle of the clerk as they left the store. “T-thanks.”
The walk was silent, at first, other than the crunching sounds beneath them of the grass, dry leaves and stones that they stepped on. The flashlight fixated on the path ahead. “So…What do you plan on doing during your stay here?” Was the question that broke the quiet ambience, coming from the shy woman.
Kliff glanced at her direction raising an eyebrow at her curiosity. He expected that she wouldn’t talk to him after his pathetic attempts at conversation…but maybe she was bored or just wanted to kill the tension. “Enjoy the silence, the view…probably visit the lake on these days, I’ve heard a lot about it.” Was his answer, albeit by his tone of voice at the start of the sentence, she could identify traces of exhaustion.
“Goodness…Rough semester, I assume?” Inquired the teacher, turning at her companion. Kliff huffed, releasing some pent-up frustration of his students’ antics. “Tell me about it…”
Her eyes softened, as she understood the feeling from experience. Frowning, she pondered if it would be uncalled for to offer some suggestions so his vacations wouldn’t be so aimless. Mustering her strength, she took a chance. “Do you…know of the events the camp offers during your stay?”
“Erm- I gave them a glance at the entrance but, I would like to wake up after the sun rises during my break.” He confessed. It’s not like he considered them boring per se, but he missed sleeping in more.
“A-ah, I understand that. It’s just…” She hesitated. “Tomorrow there will be a guided stroll that will go around the forest. We will stop at the lake and then head back by lunch…And since you said you wanted to see it I thought that…I should let you know.” Julia exhaled, turning her eyes towards the path.
But that didn’t last for very long, as she started to feel self-conscious about her invitation. It sounded demanding, in her eyes. “N-not that I’m forcing you to come! It’s up to you, after all…” She cleared up, waving one hand in front of her dismissively. “But it’s good to have ideas in the back of your mind, at least, I think so.” 'There- I said it. Deep breaths Julia…He can agree or disagree, but you did your part…’
He shifted his eyes rapidly, weighting the pros and cons of the proposal. On one hand, waiting for his friends to get here by the afternoon would be eternal…but his precious first day of sleep would be postponed. One hand held his chin in thought. “…I’ll…think about it. Don’t get your hopes up, though.” Just then, the light of a lamp just outside a cabin caught his eye, making him stop in his tracks to stare at it. “Oh, we arrived.”
She stopped around the same time as he did, turning off the flashlight and staring in awe at the building. “So this is your cabin? That’s nice…I like the wood carvings above the doors. Makes it feel more…fancy."
'Huh, she really likes these things…’ He realized, taking a tentative glance towards her. Julia’s lavender eyes had the spark of admiration in them. Kliff turned to the marking she was so intent in admiring, tilting his head. "It’s…nice to look at, I’ll admit.”
Silence once more reigned between the two, only this time, without the uncomfortable tension, with only the soft wind of the night echoing.
Many minutes passed when Julia recalled that she was needed back on her own cabin. Her heart skipped a beat at the thought of worrying her family into looking for her just because she had lost track of time. “O-oh, well um-” She stammered, adjusting the flashlight and the groceries firmly on her arms. “Ahah…I’ll go back to my place now. It was nice talking to you.”
“Er- right. Goodnight Julia.” He wished her, taking his eyes off the decorations. It was starting to get both late and cold, and he would prefer not to freeze.
Who could have expected that going to buy matches would be so lengthy?
He waved at her from the door, gesture that she returned greatly flustered. “G-goodnight.” With that said and done, she turned on her heel and disappeared, farther away into the camp.
…And just like that, the vacations flew by. There weren’t many who were really excited to come back to class- but alas, such is life. They would have to smile and wave as the principal made their greeting speech for the second term- which no one would pay attention to- and then painfully wait for their class to be called, from youngest year to oldest, so they would depart to their classrooms.
Why couldn’t they just dismiss everyone at once was a mystery.
The first group to leave was Julia’s. She stood up, made the kids pair up with each other and then walked out of the auditory, holding the hand of the one kid who didn’t have a partner, in front of all others. He waved at her during a moment where she had turned around, and she quickly returned the gesture.
And then, more waiting, as his group was one of the last ones to depart. But, unlike the younger kids, they didn’t need to pair up and hold hands when leaving.
Break time arrived once again, and, on cue, Kliff was already dashing towards the break room to escape from the chaos of the unleashed students that ran all over.
The moment he went through that door, a familiar face made him stop in his tracks. Standing still, clearly nervous but looking around the room, was Julia. “Oh, Kliff! I feared I would miss you today.”
“Ah, it’s you, Julia.” He replied, much relaxed than before. “Don’t worry; I’m always here once the bell rings, so you’ll never miss me.” He arched a brow. “Did you need something?”
“Well…kind of.” She rummaged through the bag that hanged from her shoulder, taking out a familiar book. “I wanted to return this to you…Since I forgot to do so earlier.”
The newly graduated blinked slowly, recognizing the object in her hands. “Oh…I had almost forgotten about it."
She came closer, placing the object carefully on his hands. "Well- I guess it’s a good thing that I remembered to bring it today.” A smile appeared on her face, her hands resting on top of the cover. Kliff took hold of book, his own fingers lingering for a short time on the back of her hand. “Heh, yeah. It was a good thing, Thank you, Julia.”
Once the item was safely back with its owner, Julia stepped back, taking her hand away and began to turn around, but at that moment the break room door burst open, causing both teachers to jump. “Professor! We have our assignments-” Recognizing those voices, Kliff turned around, seeing two of his students with the sheets he had handed out that morning on their hands. “Ah.” He sighed, approaching his students, retrieving the papers. “Thank you for returning these. Remind the rest of your classmates that they have until the end of the day.”
The two teens looked at each other, nodded, and bolted from the room.
Kliff turned to Julia, who was holding her bag tightly. “Are you okay?”
“O-oh, I am! I just…got startled.” She awkwardly laughed. “My…your students are quite rowdy, aren’t they?”
“Eeh, they have been worse in the short time I’ve met them. But I’ll manage.” he said, visibly cringing at one specific memory regarding a desk and a broken chair…
Some silence lingered between them, as Julia recovered her composure. In the midst of that silence she realized that she had stayed longer than the usual time, and her co-workers would start to worry.
Adjusting her bag on her shoulder, Julia walked backwards towards the door somewhat rapidly. “Well- I guess I’ll see you later!” Julia said, waving as she left the room from the back door.
He sighed, disappointed from being unable to say anything else during that quiet moment. Sitting on his desk, he left the book on one side, and the small mountain of work sheets on the other.
Maybe they could hang out again soon, but for now, he had to focus on work.

how do you feel about your childhood friends? (Celica plus the ram squad)
How do you feel about…? | Accepting
“My childhood friends, huh?” Alm echoes, ghost of a smile turning into a fully genuine one as his gaze falls to his feet. “There’s so much I could just say… about all of them, really.”
Their laughs, their sorrow, what he loved about them, what drove him mad about them… they were all special to him, a part of his heart, a piece of home that never felt quite right if they were apart.
Maybe it’s why it hurt so much when Celica left. When Kliff left. Different kinds of pains, sure, but the uncertainty that gripped his heart then and grips his heart now is oh so very discomforting.
“They’re… special. Wonderful. They’re like… they’re the closest thing I have to a family aside from Grandfather. In… in different ways, each one, but…”
But, in the end, they all mattered.
Tumblr media
“Let’s start with Tobin. He’s…” For a moment, he struggles, as if trying to fish for words. “He’s a treasure, really.”
Fond eyes pull away from the ground, and he turns to gaze to the right, thoughtful, as if trying to recall memories. “He tries so hard to prove himself— and to provide for his family. He… he loves them a lot, you know? His parents, his siblings… he puts so much work in what he does just so he can keep them all afloat. It’s… it’s a big responsibility, and a heavy burden to bear.” His fond smile turns sad, almost forlorn. “I wish he’d let me help. They’re… important to me, too. His family, and… well, and him. He works himself too hard sometimes, and I know he wants to feel like he earned it, but…”
‘Gods, please, let me help you.’
“He’s… he’s a wonderful friend, too. He’s… looked out for me and how I feel, always tried to steer me towards a path where I wouldn’t get hurt. He encouraged me to say goodbye to Grandfather, he… wanted for me to be able to apologize to Celica when we had our fight.” And the thought makes him smile. “He’s such a good friend… when I can’t help him, it makes me feel bad. I… I even feel bad for not believing him, you know? When he said he couldn’t lift the sword…”
So much of his pain could have been avoided, if he had just…let himself think of the possibility that he had been lied to. If he had… allowed himself to figure out his heritage. Maybe he wouldn’t feel so… so…
“… Tobin’s very important to me.”
Tumblr media
Oh. Right. He coughs into his hand and laughs, shaking his head and looking ahead. “Wow… and I have four other friends to go! Well, uh… Gray…”
And, once more, Alm trails off and looks to the side, only for a small chuckle to interrupt him. One that turns into a laugh, lips parting into a genuine smile. “I really looked up to Gray, you know!” He says as his laughter trails. “So world-savvy, so traveled… he knew of a world I could only really dream of, a world I had only heard about from the stories him, Mycen and Celica told me about.” It was a different time. It was… it was almost difficult to remember, what it was like to not have seen the world. How the world used to look like, in his mind’s eye.
“Even after we left, you know, he was always so… confident, you know? Kept me out of trouble, too, whenever I wandered around in a town trying to get supplies for the Deliverance. Made sure no one hoodwinked me and the like.”  He wasn’t sure what he would have done without Gray. “He always acted like he knew what he was talking about— I used to think he was full of hot air, but, well… I’ve learned since.”
Sometimes, it’s just how you survive out there, especially as a commoner.
“He’s also looked out for me, just as much as Tobin has. They both… they tried to keep me on the ground, remind me of where we came from, you know? Of what we had been put through when we were kids. Of our limits. Of course, I… later on we found it was…” Once more, Alm trails off, only to shake his head. “It’s… not important. I just appreciate it— all they did for me.”
Tumblr media
“… Faye’s next.” he says, after a quiet sort of pause, shaking his head and running his left hand through his hair, ruffling it a little. “She’s… an odd sort, to be sure. Worries a whole lot, you know?”
Maybe, she worried too much. “Sometimes I feel she never quite recovered from what happened back then.” He says, voice soft, and brows knit in concern. “Wary of strangers, wary of everything, it felt like her guard was always up whenever she spoke to anyone who wasn’t us, you know?”
It worried him, really, how much she’d dig her heels at the new, like it was dangerous. Like it’d hurt everyone again.
“She tries to keep everyone safe, in her own way.  Does her best to make sure everyone’s alright and accounted for. Sometimes, I think she always makes a headcount when we break for camp to make sure one of us didn’t just run off again. Like we’re sheep, and she’s the sheepdog—” Trailing off, he laughs at the mental image. She’s the one who looked like a sheep most of all, in his opinion!
“Don’t let it fool you, though. That girl’s just about as much a rascal as any, she just has a better poker face for when we get caught.”
Levity helped. Levity was nice.
Tumblr media
And then…
“Well… then there’s Kliff.” Gods, Kliff. What was he going to do with that guy?
“If I’m honest… I always thought he’d leave one day, you know?” Alm says, exhaling softly as his gaze turns skyward. “Fly away, to wherever it is that he sought to find.” It wasn’t a secret among anyone, try as Kliff might to pretend he didn’t care either way.
“He left before, you know? To a nearby town, sure, and we knew where he was, unlike Celica, but…” All the same, he had left, in the search of something more… among other things. Kliff didn’t like to talk about home, and Alm respected that.
“Well… when he told me he always wanted to see the world, back when we left Ram… I knew then. Something told me, in my gut, that he wouldn’t stay when this was over.” Kliff would chase his dream and, for a time, Alm wished he could have chased it with him. Travelling around, helping people… it sounded appealing, and it would have definitely helped him eventually find Celica (or so he thought), so he had considered asking Kliff to come with when the war was over.
And then, the war got longer. He fought with Celica. More and more responsibilities landed on his shoulders. “Thought I’d go with him at one point, but as the war went on, I felt myself more like a moored boat, and he..? A loose boat, offshore and far, getting further by the minute.” And that was what it was, in the end. Him? He was tied down, in responsibility and duty and his love and care for Valentia. Kliff? Kliff was off to new pastures, and then off again, a wanderer.
“… I hope he loves it out there.”
Tumblr media
And, lastly…
“And then… there’s Celica.” Alm almost breathes her name, saddened eyes uplifted at the thought of his closest friend, owner of his heart.
His eyes slide closed, and he takes a breath, trying to focus exclusively on what he wants to say. All his burdens, his thoughts, his sorrows, and his wishes… they roll off his shoulders, and he feels as tall as he stands.
“She’s so unlike me, you know? And yet… so much of me is made, shaped, by what I learned from her and at her side. We’re like the sun and the moon, sometimes… but that just means we’ll always light the sky.”
… Gods, that was cheesy. Even then, it was just… it was how he felt about it, really.
“But, well, we share some traits too, you know? We’re both stubborn, and we never know when to quit. We want peace, we love the outdoors, and flowers… and we want so much for Valentia to flourish. And we…” Pausing, Alm shakes his head. “And then there’s the stuff where we’re different. She’s a lot more focused than me, a lot more driven. She’s slow to make her choices because she’s always considering things, and here I am, you know? Rushing ahead, doing what I think is best because it’s what first came to mind… I’m trying, though! I don’t want her to feel like she has to spend all her time holding me back from doing something stupid.” A laugh leaves him as his gaze turns once more to the side, as if a mental image has sprung to mind.
“She’s so kind and considerate— but she’s also so distant. Like she’s trying to put something between herself and everything else. I… I understand why, and I never felt her do it with me, but it… it hurts to see her push others to arm’s length. I want to… I want to help her feel like she can let other people in again.” The desire is earnest, and so is his sad little smile, but it widens more and more, as if the thought of her can’t keep him down for long.
“She also doesn’t consider herself a lot, you know? Like she’s gotta be strong for everyone, but ain’t got room for her own wants and needs. I want to make her feel like… like she matters, you know? She’s my friend, she’s so important to me… and to so many other people. I hope I can help her see that, as much as she’s helping me work… around my more impulsive tendencies.” Among other things. He knows he tends to roll with his emotions, and he knows he’s not very good at propriety, so he tries hard to learn what she’s got to teach him.
“I feel like, if we hadn’t met, I would have never learned to… deal with people who closed their heart.” He finally says, closing his eyes. “When she arrived to Ram… she was the most scared little thing… but it also made her so angry, so hurt…”
It’s painful to think about how she used to be, after she had lost everything. Now that he knew, it was even more heartbreaking than it was before.
“If I hadn’t learned people could be like that… and still be kind and wonderful underneath… I don’t think I’d be as good with dealing with people who are hurt as I am now. I think we… both learned a lot as kids, from each other.”
Tumblr media
“… And, more than anything, I want to help her keep smiling, no matter how hard it gets.”

Neil Armstrong’s Heirs Split Over a Lucrative Legacy https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/27/us/neil-armstrong-heirs.html
Neil Armstrong is a 'NATIONAL TREASURE' and it's sad 😔 😢to know that his death could have been prevented, especially as we celebrate the 50th Aniversary of their historic Moon🌚 landing and walk on the 🌚Moon. And now the family division over many Neil Armstrong's belongings and mementos are being auctioned off to private buyers that we, our children or grandchildren, may never see again. I remember so vividly, as a child, watching to news coverage of that period and it remind me of a period AWE but also a time of UNCERTAINTY.
😢😭😭😭
‘Would Dad Approve?’ Neil Armstrong’s Heirs Divide Over a Lucrative Legacy
By Scott Shane, Sarah Kliff and Susanne Craig | Published July 27, 2019| New York Times | Posted July 27, 2019 |
Last fall, Neil Armstrong’s two sons began a round of media appearances to promote a venture that would make them millions of dollars: a series of auctions of about 3,000 mementos from their father’s moon mission and NASA career.
“One Giant Sale” was CNBC’s headline, playing on the astronaut’s famous line, as Mark and Rick Armstrong talked up the items — an American flag that had flown to the moon on Apollo 11; a flight suit their father had worn earlier in his career; and many possessions that had nothing to do with space, including Mr. Armstrong’s childhood teddy bear and a preschool report card he signed.
“You just hope that people get positive energy from these things,” Mark Armstrong told “CBS This Morning.” He told The New York Times they had “struggled with” what their father might think of the auctions. “Would Dad approve? Let’s see what positive things we can do with the proceeds,” he said.
The auctions would prove lucrative amid the rising wave of publicity leading up to the 50th anniversary of the moon landing this month: $16.7 million in sales to date. The Dallas auction house calls the memorabilia the Armstrong Family Collection, though it includes a small number of items from other sources, including the astronaut Buzz Aldrin. Another auction, the fourth, is set for November.
Those sales by the brothers, who also pursued a newly disclosed $6 million  wrongful death settlement over their father’s medical care, have exposed deep differences among those who knew Neil Armstrong about his legacy — and what he would have wanted.
Some relatives, friends and archivists find the sales unseemly, citing the astronaut’s aversion to cashing in on his celebrity and flying career and the loss of historical objects to the public.
“I seriously doubt Neil would approve of selling off his artifacts and memorabilia,” said James R. Hansen, his biographer. “He never did any of that in his lifetime.”
The astronaut had stopped signing autographs in 1994, after he discovered that many of those requesting his signature were then selling them. His personal lawyer, Ross Wales, said his client resisted the idolatry focused on his signature and possessions in part because he considered himself only the frontman for a huge NASA enterprise.
“His feeling was that he was not special because he was the first person to walk on the moon, and that he wouldn’t have done it if it weren’t for the thousands of people who worked on the mission,” Mr. Wales said.
By contrast with the astronaut’s sons, Carol Armstrong — his second wife, whom he married in 1994 after a divorce initiated by Janet Armstrong, Rick and Mark’s mother — is not known to have sold anything. Instead she has lent and donated a collection of memorabilia to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington; such loans often convert to donations in an arrangement intended to avoid gift taxes. People who know her say she and her adult children, Andrew and Molly, believe her husband would have opposed the commerce in the trappings of his work and life. (Carol and her children declined to comment.)
Mark Armstrong said that the question of what’s best for posterity and what his father might have wanted is not so simple. He said that he and his brother had already donated to museums more than $500,000 in cash and artifacts worth about $1.4 million, and that they had lent items worth several million more.
But he said donations, which offer the donor tax benefits, do not guarantee public access. “Museums can choose to store items out of sight or unilaterally decide to sell them,” he said in an email forwarded by his wife.
As for his father, Mark said, “I think he would judge us not on whether we auctioned items or not, but rather what we do with the proceeds and how we conduct our lives. Dad said that he wanted to leave the world a better place than he found it. I intend to follow his example and teach my children to do the same.”
Mark and his wife, Wendy, said they were using auction proceeds to create an environmental nonprofit in honor of Mark’s parents, called Vantage Earth, that Wendy said would work “to preserve and protect the earth from the damage done to it by its own population — a concern raised by Neil upon looking back at the earth from the moon.”
Tensions are common in any family affected by divorce. When it is the family of the first human being to step onto the moon, with global fame and a large estate, relations get only more complicated.
After leaving NASA in 1971, Mr. Armstrong taught aerospace engineering at the University of Cincinnati, served on multiple corporate boards and accepted speaking fees, accumulating a fortune worth many millions. But he turned down many opportunities to make even more money, friends say.
At the time of his death, most of Mr. Armstrong’s assets, including the memorabilia, were left in a trust, the beneficiaries of which could not be determined by The Times. His sons may have received some items from their father through the trust, and they received other keepsakes when their mother died in 2018, according to Wendy Armstrong. The first auction was held five months later.
Strains between Mr. Armstrong’s first and second families came to a head after his death in 2012, at age 82, of complications after heart surgery. The Times reported this past week that Mercy Health-Fairfield Hospital, outside Cincinnati, had secretly paid the family $6 million to settle a claim that his treatment had been deficient. The family also sought changes in hospital protocols to prevent such deaths in the future.
Papers sent anonymously to The Times described how the removal of pacemaker wires installed during surgery had caused bleeding that could not be repaired quickly because no cardiac surgeon was on duty. The resulting loss of oxygen to Mr. Armstrong’s brain left him in a vegetative state; he died 11 days later after life support was withdrawn.
While there was some friction over when to remove life support, the real clash came later, over the medical malpractice claim, which the sons pushed for and Carol, his widow, declined to participate in.
“In the end, strong feelings ripped apart Neil’s loved ones over the hospital’s handling of Neil’s care,” said Mr. Hansen, who became close to the family while writing his 2005 Armstrong biography, “First Man.”
Mr. Hansen called the medical crisis “a terrible, traumatic situation” made worse by the fact that “Neil essentially had two distinct families that were not, if they ever had been able to before, thinking and feeling as one.”
Carol Armstrong, who knew her husband had considered the cardiologist a friend, “felt strongly that Neil would not have wanted her to sue the doctors or the hospital — he would not want anyone to take advantage of his name in such a way,” Mr. Hansen said.
Court records show Ms. Armstrong as receiving “zero — not participating,” by her own choice. Neither did her children, the astronaut’s stepchildren, seek any payment.
Mark Armstrong, a 56-year-old retired software engineer, and Rick, 62, a onetime animal trainer who has a software consulting business, got the bulk of the hospital’s payment, about $2.6 million apiece. Neil’s surviving brother and sister got $250,000 each, and the six children of Rick and Mark got $24,000 each.
One court filing in the case, by a lawyer arguing for a greater share for the grandchildren, discussed the uneasy equation between familial relations — even love — and cold cash. While acknowledging that Mr. Armstrong’s siblings might get a larger payment because “they loved him the longest, depended on him the most” and found his loss “most painful,” the lawyer, Bertha G. Helmick, wrote that the “opposite is equally true.”
“The minor grandchildren, having had the least time with Decedent, have suffered the greatest loss of time, attention, protection, advice, guidance, counsel and affection.”
The grandchildren, she wrote, “lost their universally beloved and revered grandfather, who could magically open any door, innocently pave ways into college admissions, and who would have always carried a de facto hero element to any school or athletic or workplace function.”
Rick and Mark Armstrong, represented by Mark’s wife, Wendy, a lawyer, got the settlement after threatening to announce their concerns about their father’s treatment at a gathering at Kennedy Space Center for the 45th anniversary of the moon shot.
The brothers would use the 50th anniversary this month for a different kind of leverage. They were far from the first to sell an astronaut’s possessions — Heritage Auctions in Dallas has sold such collections for 20 other astronauts and their families, said Greg Rohan, the company’s president. But none had the status of Neil Armstrong.
“This is really the holy grail,” Mr. Rohan said in a promotional video.
“Neil Armstrong holds a special place in the space history enthusiasts’ world,” said Robert Pearlman, editor of CollectSpace.com, a website devoted to space memorabilia.
The prices reflected that reverence. Items fetching the highest prices tended to be those that traveled with Mr. Armstrong to the moon, such as a rare gold medal that sold for $2.04 million this month — the highest price in the lot. The American flag that had flown aboard Apollo 11 got $275,000.
Personal items, from Mr. Armstrong’s own childhood and early years of parenting, also sold well. The teddy bear sold for $3,500. A letter that Mr. Armstrong wrote to the Easter bunny as a child, asking it to “please hide our baskets” and signed “Neil,” sold for $4,000. A postcard sent to his parents from Paris in 1962 (“Having a fine time and not working too hard,” it reads) went for $1,375. The preschool report card Mr. Armstrong signed for his son Mark went for $750.
Even Mr. Armstrong’s personal collection of magazines and vinyl records — most bearing no relation to his journey to space, such as his copies of The Family Handymanand Sports Illustrated — found buyers, mostly for $200 or less.
Many of the items sold at auction — ranging from photographs in his spacesuit to personal checks — included Mr. Armstrong’s handwriting and signature, though he’d been loath to see his autographs sold when he was alive.
“He went out of his way not to make his signature available,” said Mr. Wales, the lawyer, who worked for Mr. Armstrong for more than a decade. “He realized that, yes, there were young kids who just thought it was great to get an autograph, but there were young kids who had parents who went about taking their kids’ autographs and selling them. He just didn’t like to be made a fuss over.”
In 2005, Mr. Armstrong learned that a barber had sold his hair clippings to a memorabilia collector for $3,000. He directed Mr. Wales to propose that the barber either “return the hair to Mr. Armstrong” or “donate, to a charitable organization of his choice, an amount equal to the proceeds you realized on the sale of his hair.”
In a letter to the barber, Mr. Wales cited a 1998 Ohio law that bars the unauthorized use of someone’s persona for profit, either while they are that person is alive or for 100 years after his or her death. The astronaut John Glenn, also an Ohio native, had urged the state legislature to pass the law. Mr. Armstrong felt similarly, Mr. Wales said.
When the first auction approached last year, archivists at Purdue University, Mr. Armstrong’s alma mater, issued a mild public protest. In a letter to The Times, the archivists noted that Neil and Carol Armstrong had donated more than 400 boxes of his papers to Purdue, where they had been consulted by scholars and students; used to produce books, dissertations, films and exhibits; and included in a dozen courses.
“Auctioning off historical treasures into private hands at the expense of providing access to the public is problematic,” they wrote. “Archives exist to make the remnants of history accessible and long lasting so that current and future generations have access to them.”
Mr. Pearlman, of the space memorabilia site, who said he corresponded with Mr. Armstrong before his death, said he understood the mixed feelings about such auctions, despite his own avid interest in collecting.
“I understand those who frown upon selling these items,” he said. “But what do you do with them?” He said there was no perfect path for such an inheritance.
“I can’t say Neil would or wouldn’t have wanted these auctions to happen,” Mr. Pearlman said. “I can say I don’t think there’s a clear right or wrong here.”

wip: someday
Marianne is 23 when her parents see her again. She sees nothing but a scarred man and a woman in a veil.
It is some years since they left Marianne in the care of Margrave Kliff von Edmund; since she had left behind her surname Thatcher, her beloved farmlands in northern Leicester. In the time parted, hearts have only grown fonder—at least, Python and SIlque’s have.
In those long years parted from Marianne, they have travelled this land of sorrow. From the rolling fields of Gloucester, up to the frozen wastelands of Kleiman and to the sandy beaches and port towns of Nuvelle. Python’s curse of the Beast has faded with time, night terrors and turnings into a beast going from every fortnight to once every red moon. He has begun work once again as a carpenter. And Silque all the while has held tight to her faith in the Goddess and Seiros and her disciples.
There was a time though, not too far off, that they had been separated. Shortly after they had left Marianne with Silque’s half brother, the curse had taken a tight hold of Python, clenching him in it’s fist. He had been separated from Silque for some time. But when they had first agreed to share their life together, they agreed to meet in the cathedral of Garreg Mach monastery should they ever be separated.
And they had. Python, overgrown and shaggy, dead tired from walking the entire way, and Silque, thin and exhausted with worry from him. First, their eyes had met, just as they did when he heard her singing on that moonless night, and then she collided into him.
Now, they reside in the monastery, as they had done once long ago. Silque works in the monastery as a cleric, Python works as a carpenter and tradesman in the town below. In the evenings, as they did when they were young, they’ll meet in the cathedral and walk about the grounds, as if nothing has ever changed.
(And thanking his curse for the new scars and shaggy look he now sports, Python is unrecognized by those from Abyss.)
In the letters that Kliff sent—and those that actually arrived due tot he frequent changing of addresses—Silque and Python learnt of what became of their daughter. She grew up shy and distraught, believing that her bloodline was a curse and that brought no good to others. Through the years, the portrait of a self-loathing daughter was painted.
The paints of blue and hues of brown and black adorned their daughter. The Margrave was not a doting guardian, but both of them knew he did his best. And when the war broke out and Silque and Python were in the Empire looking for a physician into his Crest, and a letter arrived, saying that Marianne had fled off into the night, Silque collapsed.
They feared the worst, they feared she was dead and that all had been for naught. Leaving her in the care of her uncle, fleeing Leicester, attempting long surgeries and treatments that did little but scar Python... It had all been for nothing but pain.
But then a letter arrived, after the Emperor engaged the King and emerged victorious. That Marianne herself had been at the battle, been on the Emperor’s side, and that she would inherit Edmund.
And Silque and Python had been elated with such news. But they felt they could not reenter their daughter’s life after such a long time away. It would be cruel, selfish, impulsive.
“Are you thinking about her?” Silque asks as they sit in a pew. The hard wood beneath them creaks with every movement, every breath. Once, long ago, the holy spells protec thing the cathedral would have deterred Python. Now he almost seems to enjoy it, since the zealots and prying nobles have left.
“Yeah. You?” He glances to her.
Silque nods once, her veil swaying with her movements. “There isn’t a moment where I don’t think about her.” She whispers.
“You think it’s our fault?” He murmurs. “Think she resents us?”
Her hand tightens around his. “I don’t think so.” Silque says. “I hope she’s not that kind of person.”
“She was raised by your brother—“
Silque looks up. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Python snorts a little, earning a glare from nearby saints and priests, who are lighting the candles for the evening. The rubble has been cleared away after the attack on the monastery, and reconstruction has begun. He turns his gaze to the clerics who light the candles and smirks a little. “Your brother is an asshole. Resentful asshole.”
“He’s troublesome, yes but—“
“He was speaking incantations when you said that I was your boyfriend.”
Silque frowns. “He’s just protective of me.” She insists, then adds, “Keep your voice down, the clergy values quiet.”
“Yes, Saint Silque, thank you for your holy insight.” Python murmurs playfully.
SIlque can’t help but smile a little. Age has treated her well, turning her baby blue hair grey, making the smile that she shares readily all the sweeter, and sharpening the playful glint behind her eyes. But age has been cruel to Python, marking his skin with scars from nights wandering the woods and being fended off with swords. His hands bear the brunt of it, from monstrous paws to being a pincushion for splinters and whacked with hammers. His hair has darkened with grey, fading from blue and black to such a sad shade. And his eyes, which have seen hinterlands and haunts which only live in storybooks.
“I don’t think she resents us. She’s too kind.” Silque muses. Her thumb brushes against the back of his hand. “Kliff says that she believes—“ she catches herself, her brow crinkling, “Believed, in the goddess deeply. She must believe in forgiveness.”
“You think she’ll try to find us?”
“Kliff said we died.”
Python’s brow raises. “Really?”
“I suppose it was to keep her from searching for us.” Silque says.
“I know he’d like me dead—“
“Hush,” Silque rests her other hand over his. She gives him a smile before reaching up and  brushing his scarred cheek with her cracked hand.
As Silque begins to say her evening prayers, Python’s hand leaves hers. She looks up and sees what he sees.
A blue-haired girl, with her head held high, looking up to the moonless sky above and speaking prayers. A similar thought sparks in their heads—could it be? Is it her? The little girl who told her father that she could talk to the birds? The young girl who asked her mother’s surname?
She reaches for him, hands clambering for any sort of semblance of him to hold onto. A cuff, a shoulder, the cotton of his work pant. Her heartbeat pounds in her chest and she feels like an invisible string is pulling her to this girl.
But Python holds her back as she mumbles her prayers and others begin to look at her oddly. Silque and Python settle back into their seats, watching as a ginger-haired young man approaches and touches her shoulder. She turns around with a warm smile and in his bright voice, they hear the name they’d spoken in quiet for sixteen long years.
“My darling Marianne, shall we go?”
And turning to face this young man, Silque catches a glimpse of her daughter. Her deep brown eyes are warm with love. Her lips curve into a soft smile. And her baby blue hair—just like hers—is braided into a beautiful crown.
“Yes, I’m finished my prayers now. Let’s go Ferdinand.” Her voice is delicate and soft. Even softer than Silque’s.
The cleric feels a hot flush of maternal joy and guilt. Joy for how kind and wonderful her daughter is, and guilt for not having been able to share in it. She almost reaches out for her daughter, but she feels Python’s grip on her hand tighten.
For a second, she thinks of running after her. All it would take is a look, and the gentle whisper of “my sweet Marianne” before she would realize. And at last, they would be a family again. And they could all exist in the same portrait, painted together once again.
But instead, tears roll down Silque’s face as Python holds her hand. “She thinks we’re dead.” He remarks coldly. “We don’t want to shock her, right?”
Silque shakes her head. “We do not.”
“Someday.” He promises her.
“Someday,” she whispers back. And in her mind, as her daughter walks away with some strange man, she thinks Someday we’ll be together again my sweet Marianne.

HC.02 Old Languages
Tumblr media
Since some point in his childhood, Kliff has spent practically everyday reading and re-reading various books, tomes, notes, and scrolls in his study of magic. He never got the chance to question where and how his mom was able to gather so many on top of what Mycen had likely given him— not that she would’ve answered anyway. At first he was able to handle the various writings fairly well, but eventually and without warning he found himself faced with many in different and even outdated languages. He didn’t get any help from his mother in trying to understand these and ended up having to decipher these for himself. Mycen was able to provide some guidance in understanding basic phrases from his “ beginner ” tomes, so he was already familiar with a couple of words and was able to learn a bit more based on the context of these words within other writings and spells.
The rest of his work started with picking out the words he already knew or ones that looked similar but with a different spelling. He practically hunted down common roots and prefixes, cross referencing other writings trying to translate it back into his own. He was overjoyed when he was able to successfully cast a spell because that meant he could pick apart that entire piece and compare it with another that brought about the same effect. And then he was plainly over the moon when he found languages in transition phases— developing into the new form but not having quite dropped the old. Kliff didn’t have to learn any of these languages much less understand them beyond casting a spell, but he wanted to.
In the end he was able to teach himself these multiple languages. Most of varying levels of understanding depending on the amount of content he had from each, but enough to at the very least carry a basic conversation. This is what sets him apart off the bat as a spectacular mage. Any one of these languages are like second nature to him and he finds solace in the fact that no one else aside from another well-learned mage would be able to understand him if he spoke them. That said, I imagine he’s well versed in what many would call a dead language, similarly to Latin. In times when Kliff is generally annoyed or ticked off with someone, he’ll complain / curse in this language. If this ever happens in threads, for sake of simplicity I’ll be using Latin. This bit will also carry into any modern-set verses.

GG Stages (and trivia) thus Far
Just in deference to @d-author's post about his favorite GG stages, I thought I'd talk about the different stages that HAVE appeared in the GG series!:
Sol Badguy/Neo New York ---GG1's version is New York in Ruins, you can see Lady Liberty's head up close in one version. ---Neo New York Sign version is set at "High Noon" like you'd see Gunslinger fights, and it marks the return of Sol having his own stage instead of being a nomad.  The "Infinite Burgers" Sheriff is voiced by Pachi (Sekine Kazutoshi), the battle director. ---Neo New York Revelator version is set at sunset and has a relaxed view.
Ky Kiske/Paris/Royal Court/5th Skywalk/Illyria Castle War Room ---GG1's Paris Cathedral is pretty infamous throughout the series as the area where Sol and Ky often settle their differences. ---GGX version featured glowing lamps and Yin-Yang floor design along with closed doors.  It also had a massive organ in the balcony (no small wonder why Holy Orders used a Pipe Organ sound). ---GGXX version burst open the doors and windows in the middle of a thunderstorm (the ACPlusR version of this stage has rain and lightning INSIDE the Cathedral, suggesting a hole in the roof!) ---GGXXSlash version is the "Morning after" featuring the dawn of a sunrise in the doorway, with half the stage crumbled away in ruins (meaning that the old Cathedral was destroyed). ---As of Accent Core, the "New" Paris Stage features a Goddess fountain, several Knight statue pillars, and a really neat Fire+Lightning globe. ---Paris in GGIsuka was actually Millia+Venom's stage and featured an Opera House (which was later reintroduced in GGXrd as "Opera House" based in Rome Italy instead of Paris, France). ---Royal Court (Ky's Xrd stage) takes place in the daytime as swordsman guards (voiced by Daisuke and other staff members) patrol the area.  As the fight gets more intense more guards show up, rooting Ky on. ---Royal Court Nighttime (Revelator) evokes Ky's GG1 stage roots as the original Cathedral was showcased at night as well, it shows a guard on his daily rounds suddenly LOCK the stage so the intruders can't enter the inner sanctum, while a Convict Hammer is summoned to observe the duel.  A certain candle stand can be snuffed if you swing your sword near it! ---5th Skywalk references Millia's old fountain stage in Russia, and it has lots of references to the old Paris Cathedral stage in the background.  It has three versions: Sign (Sin Daytime stage), (Leo Rain stage, a reference to GG2 Illyria), and Revelator (Sin at Fireworks during the Feast of Victory). ---Illyria Castle War Room is Leo's stage in Revelator, but it's also a reference to the Paris Cathedral as well... mostly the sword pillars and other things. Dr. Paradigm can be seen talking in the background!  An Alien creature shows up in the video footage in the stage as well.
May+Johnny/Mayship/Mayship II/May Beach ---The original Mayship was pretty classic and had its own front perspective of the ship with various Jellyfish crew who appeared (though nobody knew their names at the time). ---As of GGX, the Mayship went through a few changes of the crew, though they changed with each iteration, the original stage took place among the clouds. ---GGXX Mayship started putting crewmembers in various poses referencing other anime.  It wasn't until Slash/Accent Core that these references were notable though.  GGXX version was set in the sea near the water as opposed to in the air, making the Mayship an amphibious vessel! ---GGXXAC Mayship is more commonly known for it's reference to the show The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, but it also featured a girl holding a sign as the fights progressed, Cheering May on to "Make a Miracle!". ---Mayship II as of GGXrd was especially bright and colorful, and it even transitioned from sky to sea as the background showed.  It even featured a fish tank, explaining where May's Dolphins come from!  This time the TRUE Jellyfish crew can be spotted, and they change places from one round to the next, cheering May on as she fights. ---Mayship II as of Revelator is set at sunset once again, but takes a nice gentle ride over the continents and cities and valleys while the crew prepares for supper!  Truly this stage was built for a family man like Johnny! ---May Beach (Isuka) is just a temporary site for camping out on an island... perfect for barbeque and volleyball in the Summertime!
Axl Low/London/Edinburgh Magicapolis ---Axl's original GG1 stage references the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series in the background as characters from those games can be seen in the back. ---The GGX version of London takes place in a rainy town at night as everyone rushes home not to get soaked in the rain (London is a city of fog and rain after all).  Only the local dog doesn't seem to be bothered. (Bit of trivia, the Downtown stage in Revelator is a reference to Axl's stage as well). ---The Slash version is a snow stage, and even puts a sweater on the dog as a couple plays with a Snowman, how cute! ---London England in GGIsuka shows a bit of a town of Witches (London was actually destroyed during the Crusades FYI, so these Witch Towns like Tioria were prominent in the region and all that remained of Axl's home town). ---Accent Core had a different take of London rebuilt like clockwork, featuring a Painter who would sometimes pain a certain Alien!  This stage was shared between Axl and Millia Rage. ---In Xrd we travel to the outskirts on a train ride to Edinburgh, a city of even more witches!  It really does evoke Halloween, though it hints at England's supernatural roots in Fairy Lore! Lots of road advertisements for Danny Missiles and Perfumes as well as RIOT clothing! ---Revelator turns the temperature down a bit and shows what it's like to Celebrate Halloween at Christmas!  While certainly chilly (why isn't Axl wearing his pants?), at least the witches flying about are wearing more appropriate attire.
Faust+Baldhead+Zappa/Tower of Lions/Phantom City/Colony/Kingdom Cemetery/Downtown ---The original Tower of Lions was a kind of Chinese-style proving ground for martial artists (not unlike Chipp's GG1 stage which featured a statue of a Buddha deity).  Most commonly known for it's "See no Evil/Speak no Evil/Hear no Evil" mantra. ---In GGX, Faust actually shared Potemkin's junkyard stage (and this was even reflected in Faust's items). ---Faust finally got something of a stage of his own in Phantom City in GGXX, though it was shared with Zappa.  The original Phantom City had red crystals and a floating house as well as ominous ravens perched about. ---The AC/Slash version of Phantom City turned the crystals to icy blue and made things a little more subdued and spooky. ---Kingdom Cemetery in GGIsuka was Faust's alternate stage along with Zappa... like a roller coaster carnival attraction. ---Korean #Reload had an original stage called "Colony" that Faust and Zappa sometimes used... I'm guessing it was a a dimensional Colony in Korea! ---Downtown in Xrd takes place in the daytime and has a fair share of secrets. Besides taking place in front of the Four Strings Hotel, as the crowd gathers and more guards appear, if Ky wins, the guards will cheer as he arrests the person responsible for the ruckus.  The daytime version of this stage also references the "Other London" stage from Accent Core which served as Millia's alternate stage! ---Downtown in Revelator takes place at night in the rain (referencing Axl Low's GGX London stage), in both versions of the stage, sometimes an airship can be seen passing overhead!
Kliff Undersn/Grave/Wilderness Gravemarker/Antarctica ---The original version of this stage takes place at sunset, and looks nice in that classic lighting. ---The GGXPlus version remains unchanged interestingly, but adds more animation to the cute little dragons (one of which may or may not be Dr. Paradigm). ---The GGXX version of the stage takes place at night with a blue sky and full moon, notable fireplace where young gears sleep. ---The Accent Core version is kinda weird because it caused a lot of glitches in later HD versions of the game.  The original AC version had a crimson sky with a full moon and the stage was well-lit, but the later versions for Steam/PS3/Vita changed the sky back to the blue GGXX version due to glitches. ---Wilderness Gravemarker was done in the same spirit as the Grave stage, but features really tall Gears walking on a long migration.  It was shared by Sol, Ky, and I-No. ---Antarctica is Leopaldon's stomping grounds... cold and forbidding.  But still the sky with it's Aurora Borealis is very pretty.
Millia Rage/Russia/Dragonica Falls ---The original stage took place in front of a huge mansion (which we are led to assume was owned by nobles like Slayer in his Villa Vampir).  Sometimes a young maid would appear in the background and tend to the garden. It also sometimes had a mysterious Alien appear in the trees. (This GG1 stage is referenced by Valkyrie Garden in Revelator). ---The GGX version took place during the day and looked really nice with the fountain (this stage is referenced by 5th Skywalk in GGXrd). ---The Night version featured little sparkly fairies (which returned in Area 42) and also had a random UFO appear sometimes. ---Dragonica Falls in Xrd Sign is a dual nod to Hell's Forest (GGIsuka), Verdant (GGXX), and the Grave stage Kliff had. ---Dragonica Falls in Revelator is at night and more spooky-looking (fun to play as Jack-O' or Raven in this version of the stage).  If you look carefully on the map, Dragonica Falls is just a ways north of South Africa where Daisuke used to live as a kid.
Chipp Zanuff+Baiken+Anji Mito/Moonlight Temple/Japanese Colony/Verdant ---Chipp's original stage featured guards protecting a statue of a four armed mechanical statue that resembles either Buddha or Shiva depending on your beliefs. (This stage is partly referenced in the designs of the boat statues you ride with in Ogre Valley in Baiken's Rev2 stage). ---Baiken's GG1 stage isn't much to speak of, but is referenced by the tents shown in the Miyabi colony during Revelator's story mode. ---Chipp later shared the Japanese Colony with Anji Mito and Baiken: ---GGX Colony was during sunset featuring a few samurai miko guarding the bridge and sweeping the steps of leaves in the fall (this is referenced by the Leaves in the Revelator version of Colony). ---GGXX Colony is done at night where a procession of ghosts comes out (also referenced by Revelator Colony). ---Isuka Colony takes place during a summer festival, while the Accent Core version takes place during spring during Cherry Blossom festival (GGXrd Sign references the Cherry blossoms in the Colony stage). ---Verdant (Bridget/Chipp stage) has two versions: GGXX version (which features Gnomes and shadow creatures), and the Accent Core version which is turned in to a training ground for Bounty Hunters (referencing Chipp's GGX ninja training ending). Verdant is referenced by Dragonica Falls (GGXrd) and Area 42 (Rev2).
Venom+Zato+Testament/Hell/Nirvana/Opera House ---Zato's GG1 stage is the prototype of Nirvana which was a Gear summoning ritual. ---Nirvana in GGX featured a Gear in the process of being sealed after it was summoned (lit by red lights, red sky, and crimson full moon, a night of blood!) ---Nirvana in GGXX bound the Gear in wraps (an Eva reference) and has green lighting to show a shift in the situation. ---While Testament's stage GG1 is technically "Hell", it's also referenced by the stage Purgatory which belongs to Nine=the=Phantom in BlazBlue! ---Hell in GGX had skull rock formation islands and zombies coming out of the ground!  Notable for it's Purple Vortex landscape (a small reference to Mortal Kombat portals, perhaps?) ---Hell freezes over in GGXX, making it look very icy with a grey vortex! ---Eddie hijacks Testament's stage in #Reload onwards and turns the stage in to Purple Poison! ---Hell in Accent Core reveals that some ancient cities fell down there, as you can see an ocean of blood and giant building ruins in the background (this is where everything went after being swallowed by the portal).  This version of Hell is referenced in Bedman's Nightmare Theater in Xrd! ---Opera House in GGXrd references Hell's grim reaper, the Rider of Death!, though they call the being the King of Demons, he decides where all the men and women victims go when they "disappear" (dumping the victims box masks and chairs in a huge pair of piles). ---The Opera House has begun to fall apart in Revelator, and is haunted by the 3 members of the Conclave!
Justice+Jack-O'+Valentines/Heaven/Heaven's Edge/Celestial Altar/The Backyard ---First, Heaven itself... more of a sealing ground than an actual "Heaven", but called such because of the cloudy view and the Romanesque statues (which are referenced in Babylon stage in Xrd and Revelator by the way). ---GGXX crumbles Heaven in to ruins and is touched up by a thunderstorm. Rain stages are the best in my opinion! (The rain stops in ACPlusR due to stage glitches though). ---Heaven's Edge not only cites the Sephirot... but it's an endless horizon of blue... and strangely enough it looks similar to the Backyard "ocean" stage you fought Valentine in during GG2's final boss events.  Jack-O' calls it a Tomb to Possibility for some reason, and it might be related to the Scales of Juno! ---Celestial Altar isn't actually a "stage" though it was the place that Sol, Ky, and Sin fought Ariels in Revelator... it would've made a nice battleground! ---The Backyard... I'm surprised we don't have a stage for this place yet... but I'm sure we will eventually!
Jam+Kum/China/Jeon Ryeok Residence/Underwood Hill ---Jam's old Chinese restaurant was steaming with restaurant smells, and she cooked OUT OF A DRAGON! Yum.  Too bad Robo-Ky, Dizzy, Millia, and Venom, destroyed it.  3 times. In a row. ---GGXX China has a slightly different time of day, but still the hustle and bustle of the shop with waitresses handling the deliveries (and some punks hanging out in the back, NO LOITERING). ---China in GGIsuka takes the view to the rooftops and shows what kind of layered place Jam lives in.  Quite the view.  It also references Jam's restaurant rivals Hyuuma and Hanagata. ---Accent Core essentially recycles Jam's Isuka stage, just adds a few minor things, nothing notable though. ---I'm putting Kum Haehyun's stage here because Korea ain't that far from China.  It has a lot of Zeal balloons, and the maids are certainly throwing some kind of party here! (Fun fact: Elphelt's VA voices Kum's head maid in Kum's episode story in Rev2).  Also note the Tuning tower where I guess Kum trains her ears and other senses. ---Underwood Hill is Izuna's GG2 stage, and is located...uh... somewhere not on earth. The edge of the Backyard I guess... but it's very Japanese in style.
Dizzy+Testament/The Grove/Area 42 ---Sometimes known as the Demon's Forest or Hell's Forest, the Grove is where everybody found Dizzy! The daytime version evokes a very angelic church-like ruin feel (the tree with a face in the back is a reference to Vampire Hunter D's film Bloodlust).  Also notable: the cute Squirrel and Chipmunk Gears sleeping nearby (there's also a warning sign by the river suggesting a hidden Gear plant existed nearby). ---Grove in GGXX takes place at nighttime and everybody gathers up by the fire as the sky glows with night fireflies!  How pretty. ---Grove in Accent Core onwards is flooded... lots of lilly-pads and water to splash around in!  Only Testament lives here now... ---Area 42 (GGXrdRev2), though Dizzy lives in a house with her family, she still likes to visit and be close to nature, and this place can't be any closer!  Its faeries reference Millia's Russia stage, but also the gears floating in the sky in the back suggest the Backyard somehow... maybe we'll find out how the world works later on!  By the way, Area 42 is significant in name because "42" references the meaning of the universe as told by the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!  It also references Area 51, a site for Aliens. ---Dizzy's code name in GG2 was "Maiden of the Grove", FYI (though her name was never given directly, Ky refers to her as Sin's Mother).
Slayer/Castle/Pirate Fort/Villa Vampir ---Castle (GGXX) doesn't actually "belong" to Slayer, he just fights there!  Whoever it belongs to must have been huge though! ---Pirate Fort was a hidden treasure island in Isuka... Potemkin and Slayer's stage, ironic that the song was called "Riches in Me".  Who needs money when you have power in your fists? ---Villa Vampir (GGXrd), Welcome to Slayer's Dinner Table!  He'll regale you with stories from his youth till the sun comes up if you let him!  He has a taste for the finer things in life! ---Villa Vampir (Revelator), Yikes, seems like Bedman trashed the place... but it will serve as a decent training ground at least... for REVENGE.
I-No/Babylon 2181/Babylon 2192/Babylon 2187/AD 2172/Central Organ Tower ---The original Babylon 2181 (GGXX) shown both the SUN and MOON in the sky in the middle of the day, and it had a blue aqueduct flowing through it with birds flying about.  Notable is the giant cherub statue head to the side (which is referenced in Central Organ Tower in Xrd Sign).  You can see dolphins swimming in the water below too. ---Babylon 2181 (GGXXAC) takes place in the afternoon, though its not as active as the original. ---Babylon 2192 in GGXrd becomes a city of ash, with the only forms of life being stray wolves.  There's also a strange giant figure in the background, but we don't know if that's Justice or not. ---Babylon in Revelator 2187 shows the same ashen city, but Knights are investigating it for more information about what happened to the people. ---AD 2172 is Order Sol's stage in GGXX Slash... the sky is blue, the ground is burning, the Gears nearby are dying or dead... Sol's been busy.  Just another bad day for the Badguy. ---AD 2172 (ACPlusR) takes place in the rain a few moments later... something to put the fires out at least... but every fire and every war has a little flame that smolders... ---Central Organ Tower (Elphelt/GGXrd Sign): this stage is a misnomer because the tower actually can't be seen anywhere!  It's just ruins!  Originally this place was near the area where Justice appeared to syphon St. Elmo's Fire from the tower's lightning rod system... but she got overloaded and fell down, knocking a few buildings to pieces.  Elphelt lost control soon after and fought Sol (man I wish that was a boss fight). ---Central Organ Tower in Revelator is mid-cleanup, and for good measure they planted Illyria's flag in the ruins (kindof a 9/11 symbolism there...), thankfully nobody was hurt, but the ruins certainly are fun to fight in!
A.B.A./Frasco/Frasco II???/Undersea Factory/Fossil Hamlet ---The original Isuka Frasco (Flask, as in the Homunculus in the Flask), was a ghostly bedroom haunted by a young lady of the past... very creepy. ---Frasco of GGXXSlash takes place in a laboratory with all manner of creatures and barred doors that monsters tried to break out of.  This place also had some kind of magnetic alchemy stones floating around. I particularly like the stained glass window though. ---Frasco of Accent Core is more of an armory area with lots of ritualistic candles... like someone was trying to summon some dark demon or something. ---Frasco II is the "alternate site" that Paracelsus claims to be working at after Xrd's events (GG World Library hint), maybe we'll see him again someday soon. ---The Hidden Robo-Ky factory is one part restaurant bar and one part Evangelion-style robot laboratory!  Will Robo Ky ever get rebuilt again!? ---Hell's Forest/Hell's Prison seem to be connected to Flament Nagel's past history, FYI.  Guess we'll find out more later! ---Fossil Hamlet is just what you'd expect an old European farm village to be! So many cows!
Potemkin/Zepp Center Arsenal/Zepp Factory/Zepp Junkyard/Zepp Elevator ---Potemkin's first stage in GG1 is actually how Zepp Center Arsenal ORIGINALLY looked! It's quite the sight even in Xrd Sign!  Guards salute if Potemkin wins. ---In Revelator we get to take a peek inside Zepp's garage at what robot suits they're welding together. ---Zepp Junkyard (GGX) really fit with Potemkin's "muscle+jeans" look way back when... we're hoping they'll give us his old outfit back someday. This stage had two versions, morning and afternoon (GGXX). ---Zepp Factory (GGXXAC) is just a view of more riveted architecture... ---Zepp in GGIsuka's Boost Mode gave us a view of Zepp in a huge elevator! Neat.
Ramlethal+I-No+Bedman/Japan/Unknown/Nightmare Theater ---Japan is first introduced in Xrd Sign, but it's a hole in the Earth! The sky is red, and giant hands like a God reach out... like a sign from Revelation! ---Japan in Revelator is more peaceful, but still a huge waterfall hole... too bad Japan is gone, it would have made a nice view. ---Unknown is I-No's boss stage... it's actually a Rift in Space-time that she made to Time Travel.  The original version (GGXX) used an ocean ripple effect on the floor along with a few lightning bolts for effect... the AC version of the stage looks a lot better! ---Nightmare Theater is Bedman's stage, and what a stage it is... there are no words except "scary". This stage is also a subtle reference to films like the Ring trilogy, as well as the Persona games with their pillars of CRT TVs! ---Nightmare Theater in Revelator reveals that everything is Dream Sand... the Sandman cometh!
And I think that's every stage (and reference) outside of GG Judgement stages, which are too big to describe.

Since some point in his childhood, Kliff has spent nearly  EVERYDAY  reading and re-reading various books, tomes, notes, and scrolls in his study of magic. He never got the chance to question how his mom was able to gather so many in addition to what Mycen had likely given him— not that she would’ve answered anyway. At first he was able to handle the various writings fairly well, but eventually and  WITHOUT  warning he found himself faced with several in different and even outdated languages. He didn’t get any help from his mother in trying to understand these and ended up having to decipher these for himself. Mycen was able to provide  SOME  guidance in understanding basic phrases from his ‘ beginner  ’ tomes, so he was already familiar with a couple of words and was able to learn a bit more based on the context of these words within other writings and spells.
Most of varying levels of understanding dependent on the amount of content he had from each, but enough to at the very least carry a basic conversation. This is what sets him apart off the bat as a spectacular mage. Any one of these languages are like second nature to him and he finds solace in the fact that no one else aside from another well-learned mage would be able to understand him if he spoke them. That said, I imagine he’s well versed in what many would call a dead language— similar in concept to  LATIN.  During times when Kliff is generally annoyed or ticked off with someone, he’ll complain / curse in this language. If this ever happens in threads, for sake of simplicity I’ll be using Latin. This bit will also carry into any modern-set verses.
