i really wanted to incorporate previous concept styles and ruby's inspiration from qrow and turn it all into one thing while still being ruby-esque and ended up with this :] i really wanted to add more of a punk style to him as well!

the scarf is based off weiss's colors + rwby's for the rose petals and the necklace is part of penny's sword! i wanted to incorporate all the people most important to ruby and I'm just very very proud of what I came up with! i put a lot of love into this piece and i hope it's noticable :]

Ok but how cathartic would it have been if instead of Jaune being the famous Rusted Knight all along, V9 was written so that Ruby fell into the Ever After and became this aged warrior in a tattered cape called the Hooded Huntress or whatever, spending the last few decades stewing over her friends' death and her perceived uselessness, pushing herself to protect the Ever After as its sole guardian all this time.

Her teammates try to find and console her, but reuniting with them after so long just brings back all the bitter memories and she does everything she can to avoid them, even Yang. Inwardly Ruby is torn because the chance of meeting her team again was why she's even alive and fighting after all these years, but now... she can't even bear to face them.

Slowly but surely her team reaches through to her. And then it all slowly clicks: Ruby and her friends figure out she's the Hooded Huntress. She's the hero in the books Ruby always looked up to. She's the fairy tale ideal Blake wished the world could be. She's the hero Weiss would think about to push herself through her training. She's the hero Yang would read to her about during bedtime. Her tale may have even been old enough to inspire Maria and Qrow to become Hunters. Summer herself.

All of this hits Ruby like a truck, knowing that she was always meant to be a hero and has still done so much good, more than she'll ever know. And Ruby learns to accept her mantle once again and returns to Remnant wiser and better than ever. She may not have been enough to save the kingdom of Atlas or Penny, but she poured her everything into the Ever After to make up for it and in doing so, became the hero the world would soon need; that it always had.

Fuck your ascension and fuck your suicide tea; Ruby chose to keep going for one more day instead of giving up, if only for the sake of others, but found not only the light at the end of the tunnel; she was the light guiding others through it, even when she was too caught up in the darkness around her to see it herself.

But I guess we needed Jaune to be the big hero again. He's canonically now a bigger and more influential hero than Ruby, Summer or almost any other Hunter in existence can hope to be - immortalised forever as an enduring tale thousands of children and aspiring Hunters would emulate, even after Team RWBY themselves are gone.

Like. Let Ruby have fucking something. Is she still the protagonist or is she fucking not.

EDIT: Also this would have been our one chance to get scruffy long-haired Ruby. Let that sit with you abit.

I don't really know how to talk about it but I lost my baby cat this weekend. I grew up with him, everything happened so suddenly, it was brutal and I still don't realize how fast everything happened. He was suffering and I had to choose to help him go in peace. It's probably one of the worst feeling in the world that to know you're being a part of helping a being you love go, and at the same time I had no other choice because he was suffering and barely being able to breath. I just have everything on loop in my head and I can't get the images out of my brain, the moment I saw him go and his last moments, I feel so numb but I just couldn't leave him alone that was NOT an option.

A few days ago only he was there purring on my lap, playing like a baby, eating a lot... It feels a lot. I don't even know what to say more, I need time to process, I don't want to work or go at uni, I feel anxious at night, I struggle to eat, I just sleep and cuddle with my other cats and I'm probably being overprotective and just staying with them to be sure they're okay.

I just don't care about wasting my time with any drama, with anything, I'm just tired of fighting, I'm tired of debates about fandom or fictional ships or whatever. It feels weird one year ago I was completely obssessed with RWBY V9 at that time, right now it's the last thing I could care about. I just wanted my baby cat to stay for a bit longer, I wish I could have helped him, I wish I could have been there more, I don't know if I did enough when I was there to help him go, I don't know if I talked to him enough, if he felt more at peace that I was there, I don't know if he understood what was happening before he fell asleep, I just hope he knew that I wasn't gonna abandon him, I wish uni wasn't taking so much of my time so I could have stayed with him more

I knew he was old, I knew he wasn't gonna stay forever, but I just thought the way he left would be less scary, more peaceful, less painful, more calm... No matter how much you prepare yourself, you're never ready when it really happens

I remember how tiny he was when we found him, he was 4 months old and I was 10, I was waking up 1h before my usual time to spend time with him before school. It's the first time I tamed a cat and learned how to earn his trust, he was my baby cat

So even Oz has no clue about the Ever After and likely that the Brothers aren't actual the true deities of the overall omniverse. Not to mention getting the impression that he's about as knowing about what the Relics do as everyone else is. Which shoots down many b.s. notions of what he could do to stop Salem. I'd even have doubts on him knowing how the Vaults work.

So the issues between Atlas and Vacuo definitely would be in place (likely including faunus), but on top of that Ozcar fighting the merge.

Ren respecting Jaune and looking up to him even is definitely nice given the backdrop of his words back in v8. Not to mention them doing more showing of his semblance.

Weirdly like the awkwardness between Renora, because of the realness of what they're navigating and that it was something that the writers plan to explore.

Mercury and Tyrian stirring up shit w/ Tyrian being batshit insane as per usual and Mercury being clearly out of his comfort zone

Confirmation that all of SSSN are planned to be in Vacuo, which means there could be Nolan/Scarlet scenes

My OTP for Willow is Klein, ngl I could support Qrow and her too (especially since ages would be fine), but that look when Klein arrives in the shuttle really sends me back to Willow/Klein xD

God the ["What? How?" -Ruby looking at the flying armada "You sent a message and the world answered." -Qrow] will always hit me in the feels and get watery eyes. Part of that being Jason's performance and only he could do that with his more emotional voicing for Qrow.

And here it is again all over again

When episode 6 of v9 came out. A certain circle of people became hysterical about Weiss' reaction to Jaune. Strangely enough, it was mostly WR fans and Bumblebee fans agreeing with them or Jaune haters. Even before the release of episode 6. Some artists and WR fans decided to make fun of Weiss' words about the beautiful knight.

Here's a meme for you about this. At first there was denial. Mostly on Twitter, of course. WR fans called it a bad joke from the writers and just trolling. Their main argument is that WK will not be canon, so we were told on Twitter. I have already said that there is no real confirmation of this.

Or they claimed that it was completely out of character for Weiss. The screenwriters ruined everything and in fact Weiss has no sympathy for Jaune!

The first battle ended with shouts, tears and crying. WK fans didn't even show up for the battle. But this does not mean that everything will just end like this. Small outbursts of indignation appeared on all sections of Twitter. In the end, WKfans began to respond, this is: the opinion of WRfans is not taken into account.

Then this happens. The first powerful blow. Where WRfans tell that objectively WK is a bad and boring ship and their opinion is not subjective. The focus is on the good guy trope. Supposedly boring heterosexual trope, when a girl rejects a good guy, and then realizes her mistake and gets him as a prize. I'll give my opinion briefly. No it's not. Jaune and Weiss at the beginning of their development were not the most beautiful characters. Both had a huge baggage of shortcomings. Jaune is an infantile and arrogant guy who wants to become famous. He is a little selfish, because he puts other people at risk with his desires. He is indecisive and weak. He can't immediately fight back against a bully. He does not see the personal boundaries of other people trying to attract attention to himself. Over time, he realizes his problems and gradually solves them. In v1-2, it was really difficult to take him seriously. This no longer fits the trope of a good guy. Just like Weiss, Jaune has changed a lot over time under the influence of other people and each other.

A typical example of toxic WRfans. The main difference between him and others is that he does not hide and does not try to say what WRfans think in a more veiled way. You have no right to wish that WK would become a canon! Others handle WK differently.

You can immediately see how WRfans began to develop the topic of other Jaune relationships. WK this is disrespectful to Pyrrhus. Jaune should actually date Neptune. Which of course is very funny. Not only that, both characters did not show attraction to men, but on the contrary. So for all WRfans arguments about WK, Neptune and Jaune are not connected in any way at all except for Weiss herself. There was only a strange rivalry between them. WKfans tried to object to something in the comments and there were quite a lot of them. Therefore, the battle ended in a draw. The parties went to the corners accusing each other of bias. WRfans didn't stop there. Deciding to attack his old enemy again. There was an attack on RG.

I didn't go into much detail, but this is something allegedly related to the sexualization of Oscar and Ruby. Suddenly, everyone started shouting that you can't do this. However, WR and bumblebee are engaged in the same sexualization. You can say that Oscar is still a child. I will object to this that the guy is already old enough to fight the forces of evil and in general this is a fictional character.

Of course, WRfans hastened to say that they are nothing here and in general they don't care about RG.

That's what WR fans really think.

Here is a rather interesting opinion about WK. Of course, she's right about something and WK has a pretty big gap in development. But their contradictory beginning, and after a sweet friendship in the background, still shows that the ship has a character and minimal interaction. While with v7, WR is very bad with development.

And here we go to the final. Finally, the last powerful blow. WRfans will show these heterosexual bastards who is in charge of this show!

Her didn't like the joke in the show. And he decided to tell everyone, calling her the most terrible. And of course, it didn't play any role here that she was WRfans. Humor is subjective, and I also don't like humor in v4, for example, when Ruby laughs at Jaune rabbit or Jaune runs away from grimm without a weapon. I didn't expect that after everything that happened to these characters, he wouldn't become at least a little serious. Although it was later fixed. If you don't like the joke, you can safely keep silent about it and not ironically attack the fans of another ship. For example, I don't like many bumblebee moments either. Although I do not sympathize with Black Sun. I could say similar things about WR, but when was the last time there was a meaningful interaction between them? There was a moment in v9 when Weiss accepted Ruby's choice when she shouldn't have. A very strange attitude of the best friends. I can't criticize WR because I'm subjective and I only see them as friends. For me, the main thing is that the ship would bring emotions to people. Just saw the extended animatic that was originally meant to end V9 and is now gonna get repurposed into the (possible) V10.

Let me just say, I still feel the same about the things I saw in the first animatic. I can now firmly say that Qrow has been replaced with a doppleganger same as Blake (I wonder if it's like a partial possession thing in this case where sometimes it's Qrow and sometimes it's the faker.) I hate the dumb Winter scenes about how disappointed she is that poor people aren't nice enough to her billionaire blue blooded mother in her silly little sunhat. I have no idea what the hell Raven is doing there. The 'Remember Her Message' thing is stupid because of how poorly done Ruby's message to the world actually was and what little impact Team RWBYJNOR has actually had on the world at large. And I still want to see Whitley without Willow for three point five seconds. And I'm still wondering why the presence of an army in Atlas was a sign of pure evil and was immediately seen as a horrifying threat but seeing an army in Vacuo is meant to be a sign of peace and hope.

But also, now I have more to say.

Like first of all, I'm even more confused on how Remnant managed to pull off any sort of army now that we know what remained in Vale after the Fall of Beacon got decimated. Where are they getting their army? From Mistral, where we know Leo had all the Hunters killed? Are we meant to assume that the people that showed up from Mistral are the cops Blake called on the White Fang? Or, maybe from Argus, even though we're meant to hate Cordovin and the Atlas military that was there? Second of all, this makes me even more annoyed at Winter for being like 'if my poor martyr sister could see how badly we're doing, she'd be disappointed,' Winter get realistic goals challenge 2024. Third of all, Team SSSN and CFVY made appearances and if I ever have to see Coco "based on a nazi" Adel ever again, it'll be too soon, but I still insist that it should've been just Sun, Neptune, and Velvet because none of their other teammates got enough focus in the actual show to be real characters. They could've been casually name dropped off-handedly and it would've been fine. Speaking of teams making reappearances, Neon is there, which means she didn't die in the Fall of Atlas and likely her teammates didn't either, but they had better have a full explanation in V10 for how soldiers on the field got back to the city and threw the portals, and it's weird that we saw Neon but not Flynt. Also can I just point out that "the people who were colonized by Atlas are being aggressive to innocent Atlas orphans and need to be told off" is a writing choice the writers didn't have to do, and considering all the whole history with RWBY and bigotry, I don't know why they did that. Neon and Nora had a moment though, and I was like... Ship material? Also, Tyrian and Mercury are working with the Crown, but... To be honest, if they don't scrap that in V10 (if V10 ever comes,) I'm gonna question their decision making even more, because they just did a new location with a new villain and it proved that this late in the game it's hard to set up or properly execute new threats, and if V10 ever comes out, it's a high probability that we're not ever getting a V11. So if you ask me, if they don't cut out the Crown, they're either gonna badly execute these new bads because they expect their fans to do homework to understand the main show, or they're gonna spend way too much focus on establishing them and the Mains will get sidelined again. Merc looks like a mess, though, and this would make me think a redemption arc is a-coming except that they're pressed for time like I said, so I'm not counting on it. The fact that I have to see Peter Port of all characters is also making me want to say a lot of bad words. Like I cannot emphasize enough how much I hated seeing him and his stupid face and how much I wish he'd never existed. What is this choice to not have the serious potential mentor character who had been part of Oz's inner circle come in and instead having the comic relief teacher who blathered about testosterone and flirted with an underage student be the one to break what should be devastating news that should by all rights get a lot of focus? And where the heck is Tai in all of this? Rip to Oobleck, but out of everyone from the Vale seasons, I would not have picked either of these men to bring back, I'd have brought in Tai and Glynda. It's just a bad choice. And still no sign of Maria and Pietro, so like... What the heck?

All in all, I thought before that I couldn't have less hope for the future of RWBY, but whoa buddy this extended animatic proved me wrong.

ANYWAY. I just wanted to say that I didn't put two-and-two together about Alyx and Little being possibly connected until I read it in passing during one of your posts. Like after reading it, I stared at the ceiling for a few minutes as I wrapped my brain around it fsdf

It makes sense omg! Like of course Little could be Alyx in a new form!!! Alyx=Alice Liddell=Little!

I always thought that maybe Alyx was reincarnated into Juniper, because of the rabbit pin she wore + her hair tie, etc., yada yada.

And like yeah, sure Juniper is Jaune's companion, but:

-Little is implied to be a new/or a new version of an Ever Afteran since they have no purpose or even a name.

-They're scared if cats (I mean yes, they're a mouse, but Alyx was also killed by the Curious Cat, so ✨past life trauma ahoy!✨)

-They're also drawn to Ruby, who goes on a similar narrative journey to Alyx in the Ever After, while also acting as a guide for Ruby

-Which in by helping Ruby/guiding her, is in turn able to fulfil Alyx's desire of 'fixing everything she broke' (i.e. by being by Ruby's side until their 'death', they inadvertently lead Jaune to the Ever After Tree=allowing him to meet the Blacksmith, and then go home to Remnant.)

GAH! THAT THEORY MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. So, uh, apologies for the mini tangent, but just wanted to thank you for this unintentioned big brained moment! Now I'm gonna see V9 with a new perspective on my next rewatch! 🥰✨❤️

where the facsimile of penny’s sword manifested from ruby’s grief transforms into alyx’s dagger when little wakes up, and then as she lifts it up and tilts it toward little, the reflection of alyx’s face appears. it’s little’s reflection, just as the reflections of penny and summer are really reflections of ruby—her grief, her insecurities, manifesting as images of her fallen friend and her missing mother because she can’t recognize herself.

alyx lied -> little is a child playing pretend (“i’ll be your trusty guide!”)

alyx tricked the peddler -> little steals the jade mannequin for ruby

alyx cheated at the red king’s game -> little helps ruby play the prince’s game

the cat, on alyx’s book: “yes. oh, please! i simply must know more. what did she write about? how was i portrayed? and… do i smell a mouse?” <- the cat knows alyx didn’t write that book because they know they killed her and she ascended. the heart, as they say, very rarely forgets. thinking about alyx and lewis brings little to their attention—their heart knows who little used to be!

alyx broke her promise to the cat, and the cat killed her -> the cat betrays ruby in turn, and little bites them and goes you’re not a friend.

alyx wanted to go home no matter what -> little wants to help ruby get home no matter what

alyx acted selfishly but her dying wish was to help put things right -> little is a selfless but very helpless child who dies trying their best to help ruby -> they become somewhat, who is both selfless and able to take action to help others

alyx’s rabbit pin and narrative role as the white rabbit -> somewhat adopts juniper as their steed

also. the narrative makes a point of emphasizing that ruby didn’t see little in the tree, although we do see the blacksmith making their new face. but jaune does see alyx during the same time.

Blake and Yang having a “meet the parents” moment in v10 seemed like wishful thinking before but now? Knowing that Ruby’s plan worked and the other kingdoms went to Vacuo which likely includes Ghira and Kali with the faunus militia PLUS v9 revealing that Raven has even more explaining to do than perhaps previously thought which is going to have to happen sooner rather than later….

you said what I was thinking about yangs concept v2 dress the dress is gorgeous but it looks more like something you'd wear while out clubbing rather than prom, it looks like yang is trying to keep up the party girl facade, as you said thats not yang and I definitely cannot see post v9 yang ever wearing something like that again (crwby please put her in a suit 🥺) besides animation limitations I think monty deliberately chose to put her in a plain dress to show as you said that Yang is unsure of herself and how she wants to present herself to the world, white is a neutral color, a middle ground between the feminine carefree party girl facade and the real yang she has yet to discover and explore (the more butch esque not afraid to ask questions I will help save the people of mantle yang we know and love right now)

Its interesting to contrast with blake because monty did keep alot of elements from her concept dress in her canon dress which ended up being more fancier and I guess lavish than yangs dress, and we see during the dance a brief glance of the real blake, the happy cheerful blake that still dances despite having two left feet. Yang pulled Blake from the shadows to have fun at least this one night and blake came out swinging with the purple dress with a thigh slit and fancy embroidery going up the side with mesh sleeves and a teal bow. Meanwhile Yang just shows in a plain white dress and spends her time watching over blake, despite everyone else probably Expecting Yang to be the shining extravagant star of the party

The fact you can see Yang admiring Blake from the balcony part of me wonders if yang wishes at that moment she could be as brave as Blake, to show the world(or at least her fellow peers) who she really is without fear of being abandoned and ridiculed for it.

Also a hc of mine but yang probably watched jaune show up confidently in that dress and that got her to thinking about weiss's offer to see try out a suit tailor, maybe for the next beacon dance (which of course there wouldn't be, but hey you never no vacuo still here)

Sorry for the long essay. Also I think it's a shame no one gives praise to Blake's prom dress both the concept and canon ones, the girl has style and no one gives her credit for it 😔

This is so good and reinforces what we already know about them. What we see of Blake at the dance is foreshadowing of the woman she's going to be. Stylish and beautiful and like you said, carefree for one night.

And it's because of Yang just like now.

Yang helped Blake become the silly, sweet happy woman she is now and Blake helped Yang become more comfortable as who she is and dropping the mask she'd been hiding behind.

What is Yang's True Color?

This question has been bothering me for some time. Colors are important to all the characters, particularly for the main cast. For RWB, they each have their more obvious primary color which is the basis of their original character designs and their names. But these colors, while integral to their identity, generally have darker and more subtle connotations based on past trauma. As the series progresses, they all gain a secondary color that becomes more emblematic of who they actually are.

For Ruby, her principal color is obviously red. But it also (at least to some extent) represents her grief and resentment over her mother, as illustrated by the iconic line 'Red like roses fills my dreams' (yes I know the songs are not canonical, but v7-v9 also supports this point). Ruby's secondary color is of course silver, which represents her devotion to protecting those important to her.

Weiss's principal color in the beginning is white. This may represent her isolation, loneliness, and her naivety regarding how others see the world (for example, the faunists) stemming from her vaunted position in high Atlesian society. It may also have connections with the cold abuse and neglect she received from her family. During the Anima Arc, her color transitioned from white to greyish blue. Then for the Solitas Arc, she finally embraced blue as her new color, representing her more diversified perspective.

For Blake, her long hair, concealing ribbon, and black color scheme were meant to represent how she wished to hide from the world. This distrust for society and for others stemmed from the atrocities she has seen and witnessed by society against people just for being faunists. And perhaps more poignantly, the abuse she received from Adam. As the series progresses, not only does she cut her hair and become more cheerful, but her color scheme transitions towards violet (which is also her aura's color). This also symbolizes how she has been able to overcome the trauma of her past and become someone better.

Then there is Yang. For her, it seems that yellow is yellow is yellow. And this does not seem to change. Yes, her eye color is violet as a reflection of Blake's aura (and vice versa) but that is symbolic of her love for Blake. Like the others, she has had to overcome trauma to become the person she is now. But unlike the others (or at least W+B), she does not seem to gain a secondary color representative of her true self. But, I guess she does not really need a new one. She isn't going to let her past haunts define her, especially now that she knows who she is.

Ok So to start off Aaron Dismuke is the kindest and sweetest person ever. I met him at a convention in Australia and was super excited since he plays basically my favourite character. In the context of Oscar Pine I first asked him about his one word in v9 and what it was like recording that. He responded that he couldn’t remember recording it but said it was probably at the end of v8’s recording. He didn’t know the context of the line and said that it was just ‘Ruby’ and I talked about the scene itself with the context. He then said he wish he knew more about the scene with the line in order to understand it’s impact. I then asked what it was like to voice a character like Oscar with a guy in his head and a whole lot of trauma. He said it was interesting. We then joked about Oscar and how every volume he is either hit, stabbed, punched,shot or abused even when he isn’t in the actual volumeI then asked in a joking manner what’s gonna happen next. I then asked his opinion on the merge which he says he believes he will be fine in the end. I told him that the farmboi must be protected and he chuckled saying yeah there’s an Oscar protection squad and they are working overtime. He does think the prospect of the merge is interesting but thinks the story should lie ultimately with team Rwby and their narrative. Also I don’t know what he knows so there’s that. I then mentioned RoseGarden (I was cosplaying as Ruby too) and how they support each other and that there’s a whole fandom that ships them. He chuckled at my mention of the ship and then came up with his idea for my audio recording. I guess he could see how animated and excited I was talking about it. So yeah a audio recording (that lead me to cover my mouth In shock) and a photo and autograph later I finally said that I hope v10 gets green-lit and he replied that it has to and then I ended the conversation joking that it ended with remnant burning. I thanked him endlessly for his time and I went off with the biggest smile on my face. Later that day I went to a panel with all the voice actors at the con and you wouldn’t believe the intro segment that they chose for the farm boy 😭 anyway that’s all for the moment. Also if we could leave this in tumblr for the moment that would be appreciated 😊

hey why do you like Neo so much lol. No hate, just curious cause like, there are so many characters in RWBY I just wanna know why you (and a shocking amount of others apparently) identify with her so much

I've been asked this before, but because I was also recently asked on Twitter, I'll answer it again

Everything started with V2- Neo's design and personality caught my eye, yeah, her personality and the fact she was a sadist despite being presented with softer and 'cuter' colors, that's what I liked most at first

Even if her character wasn't thought to be part of the main story, the show gave me enough to end up liking Neo even more. And before I realized it, I caught up with V8 and not long after they gifted me RWBY Roman Holiday

Learning about Neo's past managed to make my brainrot worse, mainly because it managed to make me see myself reflected on Neo even more (for one reason or another)

I really loved witnessing her descend into madness due to loneliness and revenge, or the fact she isn't a good person (even if she suffered in the past, I think the book and the show made sure to make clear the bad tendencies that Neo has, independently to how much she has suffered, she's a chaotic person)

I also really REALLY LOVE her Semblance and I wish I had it lol

They also ended up referring to her as the Mad Hatter on occasion, reference to Alice in Wonderland (another of my main interests), and that gives points- part of her fighting style is based on fencing (my favorite kind of weapon and sword is the rapier)- everything just feels like perfection

And all of this without the necessity of Neo speaking, because she's mute

I just, love this bitch

On the topic of WHY I identify with her, though, it's probably mainly mental illness and trauma, as in, this is a topic I've talked about with my therapist before. I've noticed how a good bunch of women I know that are traumatized and are mentally ill tend to identify more with the villains than they do the heroes, and for each of us, there may just be part of our traumas that are comparable to certain fictional characters even if sometimes the reactions of the fictional characters are often more exaggerated and stuff because, well, they're villains lol

In Neo's case for me, there's also small things like my hyperphantasia compared to Neo's Overactive Imagination, or the fact Neo had an imaginary friend when she was younger that was an alter ego and a side of herself (when I was younger, I too had an alter ego that was the part of me that I couldn't express irl, born from the trauma I suffered), and while I personally headcanon her mutism to be a physical problem (vocal cords), my anxiety and certain stressing situations make me go mute, so I thought the fact she's mute is pretty cool

There's deeper stuff, like relating to how ashamed her own parents were of her for how she was, who she wanted to be, having parents that controlled her a lot, or that feeling of feeling lonely even when in a crowd of people because people keep pointing at you and saying how weird you are for being different, despite trying to be friendly

Or when it comes to relationships, I could also understand the struggles of being so attached to one person, that you try to fill that void with someone else almost desperately once losing them

The thing with the Curious Cat, despite being fictional possession, also reminded me too much of my sexual abuse (entering by the mouth made me really uncomfortable- hell, I did break for a week, in a way, and the loss of control of someone's body to be at the mercy of another reminded me of those dark times too), so I just got an extra reason to identify with Neo in this V9, it's why I gave my Neo's design 'scars' from that incident (physical changes, that to me are a representation of PTSD scars left behind and that you have to learn to live with)

I also have a tendency to identify with some characters that want revenge or are lonely- the revenge part because the person that abused me most in life didn't get any kind of punishment, so it's cathartic when fictional characters can have revenge instead (independently of the target being the real problem or not) and BRUH, there are possibly more things I'm forgetting, but I think the ask already got long enough to know there's a good bunch of psychological and spiritual factors between me and Neo that made me so attached

It's one of those cases in which it feels like, 'Neo was tailored for me' even if I'm obviously not the only case lol

Justice league X RWBY pt 2 thoughts

I know I’m late to the party but I’ve finally got around to watching the second JL X RWBY movie and man did I love it, I loved it so much that after watching it I watched them both back to back and I’m not gonna do a review this time I’m just gonna give you my impressions on what part 2 brought to the table.

There will be spoilers so you’ve been warned in case you didn’t see it.

So time on remnant work’s differently then earth 3 days on earth equals 3 weeks on remnant so the time gap on remnant makes sense especially to get some V8 and V9 stuff thrown in

Great to see Black Canary thrown in I just wish Green Arrow would have appeared he’s mentioned but I would’ve loved seeing these married dorks together again

It was awesome to get a taste of Vacuo even if it’s super brief

Ruby is confident again which is awesome but she was also being insanely reckless while Yang’s protective instincts are not making her fully trusting of her leadership, given everything that happened in the ever after it makes sense for Yang’s character

Dc villains helping the league against a common enemy is pretty awesome

Man I feel sad for Weiss losing Atlas in this movie

Cute seeing Jessica ask about Jaune really wish JNR could’ve gone to earth

Man team RWBY’s super hero costumes look awesome, still weird seeing Blake without her cat ears but i quickly got used to it

Weiss not having powers is interesting and makes her little arc with Batman interesting sense now the roles are reversed

So Watts helped Kilg%re super surprised to see that

Blake gets 5 points for the reference to Dr Merlot and giving us some Grimm Eclipse representation (still love that game)

Love Ruby and Clark’s talk in the training room telling her that it’s ok to honor your family just don’t be in a rush to join them

Weiss and Bruce will alway’s be fun to watch and he helps Weiss realize where her true home was by the end, in his own way of course

Flash’s PTSD from being controlled by Kilg%re in part 1 plays a big part in this movie and Yang steps in to tell him her struggles, without directly talking about Adam or Raven, just to tell him to not let kilg%re consume his thoughts

The idea of the league using the digital world against Kilg%re and Watts was an interesting twist

Ruby and Yangs heart to heart moment is sweet, Ruby just telling Yang that she can’t protect her from everything and that she’s not gonna leave her

Having the end be at the Schnee manor felt full circle for both Weiss’s arc in the movie and the Atlas trilogy in general

Kilg%ore controlled Yang was crazy and Blake new like instantly, god she knows her girlfriend crazy well which is super cute

Trapping Kilg%re and Watts in the digital realm for good was an excellent way to cap the dualogy up

Another bee kiss need I say more?

All in all I’m very satisfied with this one and can see the development done for Ruby, Weiss, and Yang carry over into V10 especially Weiss

Now that I experienced it, I honestly think that the best way to enjoy something is to do it with only a bunch of people

Last year before RWBY V9 and while it aired I posted fanarts not really imagining that it could reach so much people. I did fanarts before during V8 too, during the hiatus as well, but I never got an audience that huge before

I'm not saying I regret anything of course because everything was super fine until summer. A lot of people started to like my work and it even got shared on other RWBY groups on platforms where I wasn't and when I think about it it's huge for me

It was all fine when it was me drawing something I enjoyed to share it with others who like it as well. I didn't notice how it changed in some way to become more like me drawing stuff for people to enjoy (don't get me wrong, I always loved drawing Nuts and Dolts for example, but having so much people following me for it made me thought without realizing it that I needed to draw them to make people happy no matter what).

And when today I look back at V9 and how I enjoyed it and other pieces of media before, I find myself thinking that I ended up not drawing for myself and I started to realize it with the Kofi requests last summer, but still continued.

I just thought about all this lately and taking some distance does help a lot. At the moment I know the situation on Twitter didn't help with that, but I don't feel like drawing RWBY stuff just because it comes and goes and I shouldn't force myself. And I know no one ever did or said anything about that, it's all me putting that pressure on myself because I never knew how to handle so much people following you and "expectations" in some way. I saw it when people called me "the NND CEO", "the NND artist ever", and I liked it with the hype and all but it definitely wasn't my goal and never has been (even if I know it's mostly a "title" because my main RWBY content is still Nuts and Dolts, and it did a lot of good on people apparently)

It's pretty strange how I never imagined just a single thing such as gaining an audience like that could change so much about the way you work, the way you see art, why do you draw etc. I had a "tiny" audience before, and I can't blame people for following me for one specific thing, but I wish they could also stop make assumptions and put on you the version of you they imagined, because that's also something that happened from people expecting me to be things I wasn't.

Anyway, I want to take a step back from all of this, go back to drawing stuff when I feel like it, I've been drawing my story a lot lately as well as some fanarts of SSO, Wakfu... And when I have more time with uni I'd like to go back to my online course to continue learning about concept art and digital painting. RWBY hype and motivation will come back when it's the time, and it won't be for anyone but myself

Also, this is coming from someone who is an avid Penny 3.0 Theorist: Do you think Penny will be resurrected once more in V10 (if it gets greenlit), and if so, how do you think they'll go about it?

and HELLO fellow Penny 3.0 theorist!!

I know I will sound crazy and mad and insane for this probably but yes, I do highly believe that Penny will actually come back. No matter how many times I read why she won't, I have to disagree simply from the reading of her overall arc as a character. What I'm not certain is whether she will be fully resurrected in a body in V10, or just given hints (or something like, where she can talk with RWBY, Pietro and co. but still shares a body with Winter, like the Oscar/Ozma situation). AND HERE'S TO HOPING V10 DOES GET GREENLIT, WE NEED CONCLUSIONS TO THE ENTIRETY OF RWBY.

And to answer your question as to how they'll go about it? Idk really. There are many ways that the fandom (particularly the nnd and Penny cult fandom) have come up regarding Penny's third return. The most popular and arguably the most backed theory would be the Aura Transfer Machine theory, because from the two times it was relevant in the show (V3 and V7), it was never fully nor successfully used. And funny enough, the ATM was always about transferring Maiden powers, and it was always somehow connected to Atlas technology, so you can see where the narrative connects Winter, Penny and the ATM.

With V9's ending and showing no signs of Penny's body being around, that's where I'm personally kinda in the dark regarding of what they're going to do with her now. With Pietro around they could be going for another Penny robo body, but they'd have to address issues again of the possibility of Penny getting hacked, etc. Narratively speaking, I've always been on the idea that Penny will return not as human nor robot, but a mix of both (yeah, a cyborg!). Penny's weaknesses (and strengths / benefits??) as both human and robot have been expounded in the show that I feel like the most sensible conclusion is to give her the best of both worlds --- an enhanced human per se (like in the recent Terminator movies). But how they'll do that without Penny's human body, unless Ambrosius and the Staff of Creation gets involved again, kinda points me back to Penny being put back in a robot body (and from there they could probably just cover it up with some in-world explanation on why Penny is no longer hackable lmao). I like the idea that Winter will be heavily involved in it especially when it's been pointed out how Winter could allude to Pinocchio's Blue Fairy (who gave the boy his wishes). I could try to come up with any other way but it will always come back to Winter, Pietro and Ruby lmao
