A Special Kind Of Mirage
The truth behind the Flying Dutchman and its link with Arthurian legend #mirage #science #KingArthur
Those imbued with a less romantic spirit, though, sought to provide a rational explanation of the phenomenon of The Flying Dutchman. An early attempt appeared in Frank Stockton’s Round-About Rambles (1870) in which he tells of a captain’s reaction when some of his crew reported a sighting. “This strange appearance”, he explained, “was caused by the reflection of some ship that was sailing on the…

Morgana

Ok, but what about Tonelico in Twisted-Wonderland?
Like, she wakes up in a coffin in another world (thankfully, not another lostbelt/lostworld), and she decides to take the form of her first ascension. Why? Because she doesn't know what's going on, where she is, or how fucked this place is. So it's better to seem as unthreatening as possible.
The thing about Twisted-Wonderland is that it is a world in which the people who should have lost won. A place where villains accomplished what they wanted when they shouldn't have.
Tonelico is Morgan La Fey, a villain.
So there is a possibility that she would finally, for once, win and accomplish what she always wanted (a place to belong that she can actually call home without fear that she may lose it at any moment).
What I'm basically saying is Tonelico may finally find the happiness she deserves in a villains world like Twisted-Wonderland (she may or may not try to permanently solve the blot problem, and she may or may not succeed).
Side note, I have the mental image of tonelico silently seething while planning ways to take out Crowley with dreams of taking control of the school herself (this crow man is useless when it really counts, and her mentality when it comes to incompetence has always been 'fine, I'll do it myself then').

Je vous annonce que je suis en train de regarder une série de 2011, qui a été annulée après une saison de 10 épisodes, juste parce que je trouve qu'Eva Green fait une parfaite Morgane.

Merlin: Back up! Or- or else!
Morgana: Or else what? You’re gonna blast me to bits? [cackles] Nah, you’re to nice for that. Fly away? Uh-uh you know you can’t do that either ‘cause then you’d be leaving behind your precious prince. You don’t tend to think things through, do you Emrys?

one thing i rarely ever see mentioned is maya's disillusionment with the fey clan over the course of trials and tribulations as well as her own struggles with the idea of becoming the master. it's first mentioned near the middle of the stolen turnabout, where phoenix mentions maya hasn't been back to kurain village in a "long time" (which is the same way he refers to the last time he saw mia, implying that maya hasn't been back to the village since before 2-4):
Phoenix: (Now that I think about it... Maya hasn't been back to Kurain Village in a long time...)
and then, at the end of the stolen turnabout, mia says this:
Mia: I'm just joking, Phoenix. Don't take everything so seriously. But on the other hand, Maya... She seems kind of lost these days.
Phoenix: You mean about becoming the Master of the Kurain Channeling School?
Mia: Becoming the Master... means saying goodbye to our mother.
and it becomes even more apparent in bits and pieces throughout recipe for turnabout, though it isn't obvious at first because it's the type of dialogue you only get when you present profiles and other things:
Maya: Well, I'm kind of taking a break... I'm having a bit of trouble right now, you know?
Phoenix: (Last year's incident must still be on her mind... I haven't seen Maya train at all since that time. I think Mia said it's because Maya's at a loss these days...)
[...]
Armstrong: You 'ave la perfect face for a waitress, you know.
Maya: Um, thanks. I guess if things don't work out someday, then maybe I'll be back.
Phoenix: (What things? Is she talking about her being a spirit medium...?)
and then it culminates near the end of bridge to the turnabout, where she outright states that she wants nothing more to do with they fey clan:
Godot: ...Witness, please tell us your name and profession.
Maya: Maya Fey. My profession is... Umm... I'm the assistant manager at Wright & Co. Law Offices.
Phoenix: (Maya...)
Judge: According to the magazine I have here... ...you're a spirit medium of the Kurain Channeling Technique...
Maya: ... I... I'm frightened. The Fey clan... I don't want any more to do with it.
Phoenix: (Oh, Maya... The pain the Fey bloodline causes must be unbearable...)
and it's something that makes me question her decision to keep training to be the master, because the end of bridge to the turnabout outright states that the reason maya is staying so chipper and happy is because she's trying to be strong for pearl. which is understandable! and at the end, all phoenix and maya are trying to do is cheer pearl up, which ultimately leads to this:
Phoenix: This is a day to remember. A day when a lot of things were finally put to rest. I think we should celebrate what we've overcome today.
Pearl: B-But... I-I still can't...
Bikini: ...Oh, go on, sweetie. You can come back for training anytime.
Pearl: Um... OK!
Maya: Alright! I'm going to make a brand new start, too! Sister Bikini! I'll be back for more training! I promise!
Bikini: I know, and I won't go easy on you just because you're the future Master. I'll make sure to prepare reservations for three for when you come back! Wa ha ha ho ho ho hee hee hee!
Maya: Alright! We're going to have a great feast today, Pearly. You know why? Because training is a battle of endurance!
Pearl: OK, Mystic Maya! I... I'll eat lots and lots of food tonight!
maya puts on a determined face and says that she's going to make a "brand new start" and then proceeds to say that she's going back into training and that pearl should too—she's still in the process of actively attempting to coax pearl out of her sad shell and help put a smile back on her face after everything that's happened. more than that, the entire endgame of morgan's plan was to put pearl in the master's seat instead of maya even if it would lead to pearl being miserable, and god knows all maya wants is for pearl to be happy. so it makes me think that maya, being the self-sacrificing person she is, really only wants to become the master so that pearl won't have to. there are other factors of course (the burden of misty and mia's legacies, for one) but i think pearl is her main motivation. she wants her little cousin to smile again and if that means smiling herself and taking on the burden of the master then so be it. even if she wants nothing more to do with the fey clan anymore. someone's gotta do it and it might as well be her.

The Flying Dutchman
The link between The Flying Dutchman and King Arthur
There is a link, admittedly obscure, between The Flying Dutchman and King Arthur through his half-sister. What is it and what is a mirage and what is the difference between an inferior and a superior mirage? There is more than meets the eye when you delve into the subject. To discover more, follow the link below: Curious Questions: What really happened to the Flying Dutchman?

Morgana’s zine
This is Morgana’s zine, a running joke in the BBC Merlin podcast Still His Kingdom Keeps. I compiled almost every joke and made it into an actual zine. It took me a long time and it’s my first time making a zine, but I am so proud of it. Thank you @monsteroftheweekpodcast for this podcast, I have had a blast. Okay, onto the zine!
Page 1 (front)
The name of the zine is Hemlock. This is the drawing on the bottle of hemlock from The Fires of Idirsholas when Merlin poisons Morgana
Tumblr media
Page 2
Camelot slang. No definitions given, if you don’t get it, you don’t get it. I’m pretty sure Morgana doesn’t know what they mean either. These are all from the podcast
Tumblr media
Page 3
This is not Morgana, but it’s definitely Morgana

Page 7
A poem by Crow Maiden. It’s Hurt by NIN because there was a joke about Arthur liking this song and also about him liking Crow Maiden’s poems from Morgana’s zine during his divorced phase. Of course, everyone can tell they’re by same person as all the other poetry because she dots her i’s with little skulls

And here’s the full thing so you can print it out, fold it, and have Morgana’s zine!

The Wolves and Their Mythology in Star Wars
Wolves have played an important role in Star Wars so far, they are strongly linked to the World Between Worlds, they seem to play an important role in the spirit world within that universe, but in addition to these lotal wolves, we have recently the entry of new symbologies related to wolves and franchise recently in the Star Wars franchise
Tumblr media
Baylan Skoll is one of the new villains of the Ahsoka series, which is a character strongly linked to the World Between Worlds, but there is something that few people noticed the name Skoll is a reference to Norse mythology, in this mythology he was a wolf, son of Fenrir, a wolf son of Loki, he dedicated his existence to chasing Alfrodul the chariot that carried the Norse goddess of the Sun (Sól or Singel), this wolf however was not alone
Tumblr media
Shin Hati in the series is Baylan Skoll's apprentice, however, in Norse mythology Hati was Skoll's brother, he was like a brother a wolf, son of Fenrir and grandson of Loki, but instead of chasing the Sun he pursued the Moon
Tumblr media
The interesting thing is that in this mythology both Fenrir and Skoll achieve their goals, by devouring the Sun and the Moon they free their father Fenrir from prison during Ragnarok, thus starting this battle, it is worth representing that this Fenrir wolf kills Odyn in Ragnarok, and that possibly this could be the name of one of the planets in Ahsoka's credits, moreover in Old Norse Hati means "hateful", while Skoll means "treachery"
Tumblr media
But these are not the only wolves in the series, the third force user in the service of Morgan Elsbeth is an inquisitor named Marrok, a reference to Arthurian mythology, where Sir Marrok is a knight who served King Arthur faithfully and ended up being transformed into a wolf and lived like this for 7 years until he was restored to human form, it is worth remembering that the name Morgan itself is an Arthurian reference to the powerful Moragana La Fey
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That is, to reach Ezra and Thrawn, Sabine, Ahsoka and Hera will have to go through 3 wolves

Tumblr media Tumblr media
(The Watcher of the Ford, illustration from Cuchulain, The Hound of Ulster, by Eleanor Hull 1904)
Details: Once you look into the myths about the Irish goddess Morrigan you begin to understand why the Celts developed the Celtic knot!
At her most basic, Morrigan was a goddess of battle, who did not take part in the battle itself, but instead stirred up strife, then flew over the battle in the form of a crow who picked who would die by casting confusion on them, afterward feasting on their remains.
Not your warm and affectionate sort of goddess, yet she was also a goddess of fertility and sovereignty, without whom the king would be powerless.
Tumblr media
Going deeper into Morrigan (or The Morrigan as this may have at some time been a title) we find that she is also a triple goddess, who, along with either her sisters Badb and Macha or, in some accounts, Nemain the Venomous and Fea the Hateful, play a shifting role in scores of myths and legends.
What brings this goddess back in so many forms and guises, and age after age, returns in another form, even if this means mixing aspects that are both grand and horrific?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
An answer might be found in the theory put forth by Ralph Abraham, mathematician, historian & Chaos theorist, in the book Chaos, Gaia, & Eros (1994, Harper Collins.)
To oversimplify it for this page, his theory is that three main forces have driven human consciousness through the ages, which he calls.
Gaia: The physical existence and living spirit of the created world.
Eros: The spiritual medium connecting Chaos & Gaia, the creative impulse and
Chaos: The creative void, the source of all forms.
Tumblr media
From the Paleolithic to the present, these three forces moved us forward, with at times one or more of them being suppressed only to resurface again and again.
Whoever the original goddess was who returned as the Morrigan, she was most likely first worshipped in a very different form sometime between 10,000 & 4,000 B.C.E. During what he called the Gaia span (agriculture/partnership.)
With the coming of the Eros span, 4,000 B.C.E. to +/- 1962 A.D. (the wheel, patriarchy & science), she was re-imagined by a new way of thinking that often feared Chaos and almost always had, as part of its dominant mythos, the conquest of Chaos by a hero or god representing Order.
Tumblr media
In this way, Morrigan changed from life-giver to carrion eater, and yet the three forces she is a part of continue to bring her back in multi-triad forms.
So that as the Eros span grew, she was not undone or put away but continued to shapeshift.
Changing from setting as a raven on the shoulder of dead Cú Chulainn to reappearing as Morgain La Fey in the tales of King Author, or as the wife of the Green Man and tempting Sir Gawain, to stirring the cauldron for Macbeth as the Wyrd sisters, and later as part of the Celtic Fairy faith, becoming the Bean-Nighe who is seen washing the bloody clothing of those who are about to die.
The thing is, in this theory, the Eros span has now begun to be overtaken by the now-developing Chaos span (Neo-Pagan, Post Modern, Chaos Theory, and meta-modern), which offers the hope of the end of the suppression of these three forces so they can be understood with positive effect.
No doubt the form that Morrigan takes in this era, if his theory is correct, will be most interesting indeed!
