For my birthday this year I finally made this dress wearable again!
I made this dress a couple years ago and accidentally made the elastics at the waist too tight (which made the dress very uncomfortable to wear). I sometimes really dread alterations and keep procrastinating on them for no real reason.
I only removed the elastics from the waist part and haven't added new (less tight) ones yet. The dress is already wearable as is, though I noticed another problem: I didn't have lots of fabric when I made this dress and the patchwork bodice is a bit shorter than usual for this pattern. So now this annoys me and I think about elongating the bodice somehow... sigh... would be a lot of work though!
[id]5 pictures in total.
Picture 1: a group selfie featuring three young white women (including OP). Two of them have brown hair and the third one brightly dyed red hair. OP is in the middle: a fat woman with glasses, wearing her brown hair open with two small decorative braids framing her face. She's wearing a green patchwork dress, mixed with cream coloured fabric with pink roses on it and white fabric with pink/violett hearts and green ornaments on it. The bodice is finished with cream-coloured lace bias binding. She's wearing a flower crown with green vines and white, pink & magenta coloured flowers on it (a birthday present from a friend from some years ago).
Her brown-haired friend is a bit chubby as well, with a short braid. She's wearing a cheerful yellow top with white daisies on it! She's wearing fancy brown macrame style earrings. Unfortunately her beautiful tree necklace made with buttons is not visible in the picture, you can only see the leather string of the necklace.
The third friend is thin and slender, but also sharing something with OP: she's also wearing glasses. She's wearing a pink bow in her red hair, as well as a pink "tattoo style" elastic necklace. She's wearing an off-white crochet shawl lent to her by OP over her white shirt.
The women are all smiling, it's clearly a happy day!
Picture 2: A close-up of the patchwork dress turned inside out. It shows the middle part, made of green gingham with the too-tight elastic still sewn into it.
Picture 3: A close-up of the bodice and waist-part of patchwork dress being worn with the too-tight elastic removed from the waist.
Picture 4:
An almost full body shot of OP: a young fat white woman with glasses and long brown hair. She's wearing most of her hair open and it falls in a wave over her shoulders. Two thin decorative braids frame her face and give her an elven look. One of the braids is tangled with the strap of her sand-coloured crocheted bag in this picture. The bag is decorated with a green bow with a floral pattern on it! She's wearing a flower crown with white, pink and magenta coloured flowers on it, they are made from wire and nailpolish (an old birthday present from a friend of hers). The star of the show is the patchwork dress: made out of green fabric with a gingham pattern (there are darker green patches and lighter green patches), green gingham patches with flowers printed on it, creme coloured patches with pinkish roses on them and green patches with pinkish roses on them. Mixed with it is a white fabric with violet coloured hearts and green ornamental swirls on it and a cream-coloured fabric covered with strips of lace. The lace fabric has also been turned into bias tape for the binding of the neckline and the arm holes of the dress. The dress is decorated with side gores made out of the white fabric with violet coloured hearts on it. The gores are decorated with a thick green lace. Yellow lacy sleeves of a shirt are visible under the bodice of the dress and a amber coloured bracelet can be seen on the left wrist. The woman is standing in front and among some lush greenery (trees and bushes), adding to the elfen look of her outfit.
Picture 5: A full body shot of the above described woman. She's standing on a path next to some hedges and trees. The picture is blurred - like you were trying to take a picture of some otherwordly fae perhaps...?[/id]

🖤Unus Annus🤍
Tumblr media Tumblr media
started making this a couple months back but I got busy, so I figured I'd finish it for the anniversary.
I cannot believe today marks three years since the channel was deleted. The clock never stops. We are one year closer to the end, and I find that beautiful.
Unus Annus means so much to me, I could write an essay, but I'll keep it short. I keep a reminder of it on me at all times, my bag having three separate handmade pins, I see it as a reminder of the inevitable clock, and of the joy that is living while you have the chance. And of course, it reminds me of the Annus to my Unus, my dear friend Ghost <3
anyways heres the shirt in action lol

Slow down and embroider your way through the changing seasons with the beautiful debut book from embroidery artist and rising star Emillie Ferris.
Needlepainting, also known as thread painting or silk shading, is a form of embroidery that creates a realistic, lifelike effect using a single strand of thread and one simple stitch – the 'long and short' stitch. You can create gorgeous colour gradients, magical details and flowing stitch directions that are perfect if you want to embroider flora and fauna.
In this richly illustrated step-by-step guide, self-taught embroidery artist Emillie Ferris shows you how to pick up a needle and thread in the same way as a paintbrush to create strokes of colour and bring images to life on fabric.
Inspired by nature and the changing seasons, Emillie has created five new and exclusive patterns for the book, four that reflect each season in turn and one special design that brings the natural year together into one showstopper embroidery.
This book is the culmination of all of Emillie’s skills and years of experience in this wonderful, meditative art form. Each design has around 60 detailed step-by-step photos, showing every stage of the process, so that even complete beginners can follow along and create beautiful embroideries. If you have been considering learning the art of needlepainting but are unsure where to start, then this book is for you!
Not only are the embroideries sublime, but the book itself is a thing of beauty, with incredible attention to detail – from the exquisite photography to the lavish hardback binding, making it a real treasure for the book lover. Plus, high quality iron-on transfers at the back of the book allow you to transfer the designs directly onto fabric to get started straight away.
In this book Emillie generously shares her tried and tested tips and techniques, including advice on materials, transferring designs onto fabric, and fully illustrated explanations of the stitches and skills needed. The five in-depth projects draw on Emillie’s love of nature, including motifs that she is best known for such as flowers, foliage, bees and fungi.
This beautiful book will become an indispensable and treasured guide allowing you to paint with thread the Emillie Ferris way.

Leaf-in hair treatment (aka leaves for your hair)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made these leaf-y hair rings for an advent calendar swap I've participated in!
The idea translated so well from the image in my head to how they actually came out! I'm really happy with these cute leaf- hair rings and want to make some for myself to keep & incorporate into my outfits.
Picture 1: An open notebook with the idea for the leaf hair accessory sketched out in blue pen. Some leaf shapes have already been cut out of green fabric printed with ferns and are laying next to the sketch.
Picture 2: A leaf sketched out on grid paper and cut out, in order to use it as a pattern. Two hairrings have been already prepared with it. The wooden spool of white thread and the green lace flower and wooden leaf earrings are coincidental clutter, but fit the theme well!
Picture 3: A decision was posed between a small brown hairring and a bigger brown hair ring. A finished leaf pair, ready to be attached to one of the hairrings is laying beneath. It's made out of two fabric leaves, which are connected by cotton yarn in the middle. The fabric leaves have been decorated with a stitch around the border and one stitch stem down the middle.
Picture 4: Shows the inside of a leaf. The two fabric sides have been sewn together but not yet turned inside-out. The threads also haven't been clipped yet, nor the seam allowance cut back. You can see the second leaf poking out of the turn hole.
Picture 5: Two finished hairrings with leaves knotted on them! They are both big hairrings (in brown and black). The fabric used for the leaves has a pretty fern pattern on it. The leaves look somehow inspired by nature and cartoonish at the same time.
