So I've been messing around with a project for a while. I've soft shared it on the mori kei discord, but I feel confident enough to share it here publicly now. Basically, I’ve created a mori wiki! Here are the things that the wiki has or that I'm working on/want to include eventually:

archived information on the fashion and its history in Japan and abroad

information on various substyles and similar styles to mori in Japan and abroad

information on mori media like movies, music, mori in anime and manga, and magazines

self promo pages for mori creators to share their social media and works!

archived pages of resources that are now defunct, as well as deleted blogs and creators (that can be accessed by the waybackmachine anyways, some are totally lost to us sadly)

links to various resources across the internet (like checklists or challenges, as well as advice) as well as mori groups and social media people can join to connect with others.

Everything is still a massive WIP but I have the barebones up now, and I feel like it’s okay to share. I’d love to see other mori people adding their information and expertise and promoting their content there. So feel free to jump on and edit at any time! Promo is always welcome especially on the Notable Mori People page!

Also, if you are not willing/able to edit, but would like a promo page added for your content, please let me know! I can add that for you no problem :) I'd like to see all mori folk represented here and make this a community hub for all things mori kei.

Putting together a mori coord

Choose pieces with compatible colors and shapes and different lengths for layering.

Layer and experiment. I ended up leaving out the bottom lace layer in the end.

Finish the outfit with socks, shoes, and accessories.

Go out and play if you can!

Location: Upstate NY, USA

How long have you been wearing/interested in mori?: I’ve been interested in mori fashion since around 2009. I’ve been wearing some iteration of it since probably 2011.

What you like about Mori Kei or Natural J-Fashions: I like that the clothes are comfortable and don’t accentuate my figure. I feel uncomfortable in tight clothing both physically and emotionally. I like that I can have this little way of living my fantasy life on even the most basic or stressful days. I also like that the community is very open and the “rules” are more like guidelines. I was very interested in Lolita fashion as a teenager but felt too much pressure to create the perfect outfit for fear of getting ripped apart on the internet. However Lolita fashion is what led me to discover mori, so I am grateful towards it.

Favorite Brands or Places to Find Mori Clothing: Thrifting or making them myself! I like the eco friendly and wallet friendly aspects of thrifting. But sewing allows me the freedom to make something that is exactly how I imagine it and I know it will fit me.

One or more Pictures of You: Here are two recent outfit snaps from my IG stories.

Short intro about you: I own a farm and work from home as a stay at home “wife”, farmer, and social media person (not going to say influencer lol). I love spending time with my animals and boyfriend, cooking new recipes, sewing and other crafts, and my general homesteading duties which include but are not limited to; shoveling poo, taking care of plants and animals, picking fruits and vegetables, food preservation, minor (sometimes major) home repair, cheesemaking, making herbal products.... the list could go on forever. I feel kind of like an official mori-grandma at this point but I like to think that my age and long time interest in the fashion adds to my aesthetic. I am shy but always hoping to make a friend here or there.

Anything Else?: I’m in love with #cottagecore movement. It aligns with my lifestyle so perfectly. I wish it had existed 10 years ago! If you think that we might be friends or are interested in similar things send me a message. I love to chat online.

~ How long have you been interested/wearing mori?: I’d say about a month or so.

~ What do you like about mori kei?: I love the colours and how cozy it looks. I’ve always loved the kind of forest aesthetic but I never really got into it.

~ Favourite brands or places to find mori clothing: I love to get my clothes in thrift shops since that’s where I always find the nicest things and it’s nice to know that the clothes have some sort of history.
