The way they made BiHanzo relationship in MK: Legacy sounds like some Romeo&Juliet-esque story..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We need more BiHanzo stories with "childhood friends to lovers to enemies to enemies AND lovers" trope 👏👏

headcanon that this Bi Han
Tumblr media
is this Bi Han
Tumblr media
It’s not just that MK legacy is pretty much the only mk thing out there with a more or less heroic Bi Han, I just wanna know how he’d react to seeing a different version of Kuai Liang. In any timeline actually, not just mk1, I’d read every single one of those fics if they’re written hgcdhysgjfhg

So, this probably isn't a hot take or anything, I'm sure other people have said it better but I've just had a thought about Hanzo and Quan Chi's relationship
We know that Quan Chi killed Hanzo's family as part of a deal with the Lin Kuei, but they didn't uphold their end of it (whatever it was) bc he brought Hanzo back as a wraith. What if he framed Bi-Han to get back at the Lin Kuei for breaking their deal?
I know most of the times we see that scene, it shows Quan Chi using magic to look like Bi-Han (Legends and Legacy mainly) but in MK9 there's no confirmation that Hanzo was actually there when anyone died, he could have found them later and just not seen Quan Chi before the sorcerer killed him (I mean, I'd be pretty out of it too if I just found everyone I loved dead, I wouldn't exactly be paying attention to my surroundings).
So what if Quan Chi was originally planning to play the long con? Telling Hanzo he'd help him find out who killed his family in exchange for his service and then just frame whoever it would be most advantageous to have killed (possibly Raiden, as that would make reviving Shinnok easier but would require significantly more work to make convincing) and then the Lin Kuei refused to uphold their end of whatever deal they made, so Quan Chi switched tactics and targeted them instead.
idk, i mean, it does kinda make sense to frame Bi-Han from the jump so Hanzo wipes out the Lin Kuei (that way no one knows what Quan Chi got from them and he can't be made to owe them anything) but also he seems like the type to hoard favors owed to him, and even if their deal had gone through, Quan Chi still could have utilized that alliance to his benefit for a lot longer based on that goodwill, which doesn't seem like something he'd throw away (it would help give him a foothold in Earthrealm once he brought Shinnok back and thus make that job much easier)
He also seems petty enough to want to wipe out an entire clan for cheating him out of a deal.
Could also help explain some of Hanzo's animosity towards Raiden if Quan Chi was originally priming him to hate the thunder god and then changed his mind last minute (it wouldn't be the whole reason, but it might have been part of it.
Idk, I'm just rambling on. its an interesting concept tho

Mortal kombat Legacy Season 1 and 2.
I didn't expect to find this one on YouTube. Looks like a full version. Shang Tsung was still portrayed by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa.

So I finished MK Legacy...
WTF WAS GOING ON???
(Spoiler for MK Legacy I guess...)
I already had watched season 1 a few years ago so I just need to breeze past season 2, which I mean having episodes be 5 minutes makes that easy.
It's funny cause I watched this hoping to find some new interesting ideas for my AU, but I'd already used the only interesting idea the show actually came up with. Having Hanzo and Bi Han be friends before the falling out is a great idea that adds a new layer to their rivalry and Bi Han's death felt more tragic and painful to watch.
BUT WHY DID THEY HAVE TO KILL OFF KUAI LIANG!?!?!?!
He would never hurt a child! This is slander!!!😤
Also they kept miss pronouncing Bi Han and Kuai Liang's names and it drove me up a wall. His name is Kuai not Kai. Why did no one correct this??????
The Scorpion suit looked really cool though. It's probably the only one that did.
To make a opinion shot here's a list of points.
To much cussing. I get it's an adult show but it felt super forced, especially when most the characters in game don't cuss.
I'm like 99% sure this show is responsible for the misunderstanding of what happened during the slaughter of the Shirai Ryu and I will forever hate it for that.
I don't know if this series is where the insult 'Shirai Ryu dog' came from, but if it did that might be it's best contribution to MK lore.
They got the GOAT back for Shang Tsung and I can't believe that.
Everyone is so out of character it's painful.
I mean this in the nicest way possible, I like the actor who played Liu Kang, I don't like him as Liu Kang.
Edge lord Liu Kang sucks.
They turned Liu Kang and Kung Lao against each other and that's some BS.
They spelt Kung Lao's name wrong WTFFF
Kung Lao feels more like Raiden then Kung Lao.
Additionally Liu Kang feel more like Kung Lao then Liu Kang.
I can't even remember if Raiden showed up...
Season 1 was mid.
I don't like Johnny Cage or Kenshi in this.
To expand on point 4, I like a lot of the actors in this, they are very talented and I've seen them in other things. However, they're miscast so hard in this series. They're great actors but none of them fit the vibe of the character they're playing. I hate it.
Ya, this series sucked. 2/10.
(My headcannon is that Stryker got his gun back and won the tournament, cause my man needs a W.)
Mortal Kombat Conquest is next. Lets hope I get more out of that then I did this.

Love your work. Just wanted to say that (despite some of NRS's awful decisions) there's something terribly endearing about the fact that we have at least 4 separate pieces of media where, once Kuai and Hanzo properly team up, they're basically inseparable. As in 'literally do not move more than 5 feet from each other unless absolutely necessary'. (Animation budget reasons notwithstanding.) Your thoughts?
Thank you so much!
Yeah, they do become attached at the hip in pretty much every timeline, regardless of circumstance (ignoring mortal kombat legacy bc we don't talk about that one) which is very interesting to think about.
Fundamentally Hanzo and Kuai Liang are very similar characters, they have both had their lives destroyed and think they are only capable of violence, both have a lot of guilt and self loathing, and both just desperately want a chance for peace and rest. I think that they're really just the only people who could properly understand one another, and their history makes it so that they have to try, plus even when they hate each other they have very intense relationship where they are just obsessed with one another.
So once they do try and they discover how much they have in common and how pointless it is to be enemies, the intensity of their relationship shifts into devotion rather than hatred.
Its clear that NRS understands that, at least to some degree, as they use the progression of their relationship as a major selling point, and as important story beats in every game. I'm not sure how involved the studio is with adaptations of their work, but almost every single one has portrayed that relationship with the same intensity and devotion, so its clear that its a popular reading of the two (even if you don't ship them) to see them as being inextricably linked to one another.
The fact that they are so attached to one another, even when they hate each other (a la only I get to kill you) is also just really interesting and compelling and I wish we'd gotten to see more of that, and more of how their relationship changed post quan chi reveal.
It also would have been cool to see a sequel to Battle Of The Realms that just focussed on the two of them working together but I digress.
Sorry for the ramble, I just have a lot of thoughts on these two and I would genuinely sell my soul to the devil if it meant we got more content about their relationship (canon or otherwise)

Just found out that Neil Ellice worked as an production assistant for Mortal Kombat: Legacy. It’s so interesting knowing someone from my former hyperfixation(Call of Duty) previously worked on something from my current one(Mortal Kombat).
