today i was looking at terrariums and paludariums on pinterest and i thought to myself 'hmmm they should make a life sized terrarium it would be so cool to live in one'. motherfucker. thats called a fucking forest.
Been a while since I posted anything new but please enjoy this little robot I made out of staples and spare nuts and bolts and his little moss terrarium :)
Got some spider/reptile breeding containers to use for mini arthropod terrariums. Totally experimental, we'll see if they work well or not.
One for Maximillian the millipede
With lots of decaying wood and a mossy piece of bark to hide under, here's Maximillian all curled up and happy in the dirt.
This one is home to teeny tiny millipedes I found. They buried themselves down in the substrate
Nice chocky piece of mossy wood for them to be happy under.
One of the millies
And this one will probably be for wood lice or rolli pollies...or anything else I find.
Kind of doing a whole rotting log concept...now to find some smol friends
They have ventilation holes and stack on top of eachother too
and here's me trying to make a video, but the stray kitty that's been hanging around was not having it...
She's (she???) is super sweet and friendly. We have no idea if she's a neighbors cat or stray really, but we're cat worshipers so she can have all the food and pets she wants. Our boy cat, Gizmo is completely in love. Not sure how our 17 yr old cat Goblin feels about it though, so we can't just let her in.
Sphagnum moss grows pretty slowly - enough so that you’re not going to be able to grow enough to use it as a substrate very often. It is really nice to watch it, though. Pics are from March 24th - June 19th.
I look online and see all those amazing looking leather/ leather bound journals, but I feel bad because I can’t afford them. Having money would rule because I could support small businesses AND pursue my hobbies more in depth.
In the meantime, I slowly indulge my hobbies and try things, like making my own bound book, making a terrarium (can’t make a terrarium if you live in a concrete jungle….) and making a feather quill at the Ren Faire.
Right now, the pages, which are the recycled wrappings from glass purchases, are being held together with clips. I have no clue what to do from here as far as binding goes….. All the research is overwhelming.
Tonight’s song is Let Me Down Slowly by Alec Benjamin feat. Alessia Cara. I had to break off a 14 year relationship, and I feel gutted. Humanity is weird. Relationships are weird. Emotions are messy. My heart truly hurts, and though I’m not in love with them, I still have love for them, which kind of makes it worse.
sometimes, you build three mossariums in a frenzy, and sometimes, the only way to stop yourself from making even more is to draw one of the ones youve already built
Bring the Forest Floor into Your Home with Terraliving's Moss Terrariums
We can’t help but love a terrarium, especially one that brings bright vibrant moss into the equation. These intricate glass terrariums by Terraliving use preserved moss that will stay green forever, but mimic the lush forest floor on a foggy day.
With keen craftsmanship and an eye for modernism, they make an exciting centerpiece, and come with a directional light and stand to make the moss appear…
