Do I Scare You? (1)
Fandom: Genshin Impact
Pairing: Alhaitham, Ayato x Reader (Separately)
Summary: Genshin characters in situations where you're "scared" of them
Word Count: Alhaitham - 414 , Ayato - 772 (i don't have favorites pfft.)
Warnings/Extra Notes: Slight cursing, Slight angst, Not proofread, Lmk if there's more!
Alhaitham:
Normally if you tried to avoid someone, it wouldn’t be too noticeable. They have other things to worry about, and other people to talk to. But with Alhaitham it was extremely noticeable. The acting Grand-Sage didn’t have that many people hanging around him in the first place. So when you, one of the very few people that did hang out with him, suddenly disappeared it was very noticeable. And to say it didn’t affect him would be a lie. It shouldn’t affect him, but he can’t help but think about what happened. Alhaitham was smart (shocker) and while he had his suspicions he needed you to confirm them. But how could you when you wouldn’t even look at him?
He’s planned a rebellion, surely he can plan to get you to simply talk to him. Well, after a few days of patiently waiting he decided to just trap you in a room. He only has so much patience and luckily sadly for you, it ran out. And that’s what led to this situation now. You and Alhaitham in a room. Alone. You didn’t mean to ignore him… Actually, that’s a lie you did, but only for a while! Only until you stopped liking him, which now that you think about it might take forever. Especially now, seeing him again after so long.
“Alhaitham..?” you spoke up, albeit quietly.
Instead of responding, Alhaitham just continued to stare at you. Which scared you more; he was always good at seeing through people. If he wanted to ask you something he probably already found his answer by just looking at you. After what felt like hours, Alhaitham finally spoke up,
“You’re afraid of me.”
A simple short sentence. Expected of Alhaitham. Also expected, he was right. You are absolutely terrified of this man. You’re horrified over the fact that just thinking about him turns you into a mess.
“Huh?” you responded, a little too quickly.
Alhaitham didn’t say anything. He simply got closer to you, towering over you.
“You’re afraid of me. But why?” He said.
What a stupid question. He knew why. You knew he knew. So why ask? Is he trying to get you to say it out loud? Well, screw him.
“I’m not afraid of you.” you ended with an airy laugh.
“Are you sure?” he said leaning in even closer.
“Then why is your heart beating so fast?” he whispered, face only inches away from yours.
Shit. How would you deny it now?
Tumblr media
Ayato:
Kamisato Ayato. An infamous name in Inazuma. As such a prominent figure, he knew lots of people. It wasn’t important for him to keep track of them all (though he does). So you assumed that you, someone who has no “value” to him, could vanish peacefully. Surprisingly, you were wrong on both accounts. One, you couldn’t just vanish. Two, you were valued. If Ayato didn’t want to spend time with you, he simply wouldn’t. So when he noticed his office was a little too quiet, he was extremely worried. Where were you? Has something happened? Are you okay? Why aren’t you here with him? After a few days, he realized he hadn’t heard from you at all. Soon rumors started that you were avoiding him. Ayato was never one to listen to rumors. He was aware that most of the time people just talked to talk. But this was about you, and he couldn’t help but listen. Are you really avoiding him? Was someone threatening you? Were you in trouble? Why wouldn’t you tell him? He had to admit he was a little hurt that you wouldn’t talk to him. For the rest of the day, while he was working, all he did was think about you. He tried to find a reason why you would avoid him. It was at an ungodly hour of the night when it finally hit him. Realizing why you were avoiding the estate (and him), Ayato couldn’t help the sly smirk that overtook his pretty face.
It has been almost a week since you vanished. Ayato still hasn’t asked to see you. This left you to think that you could peacefully live the rest of your life without ever having to see him again. It wasn’t that you hated Ayato, no it was the exact opposite. You liked Ayato, maybe a little too much. A small part of you thought about how you guys could have a cute happily ever after, but you knew this wasn’t realistic. You guys were worlds apart. So you made the decision to leave before you got more attached. As you were sitting on your couch debating whether you should go out or not, there was a sudden knock on the door. Confused, you got up to check who it was. You didn’t order anything, did you? Opening the door, you saw a familiar head of blue.
Ah.
Ayato.
You stood at your door for a solid minute trying to fully process what was happening. In this short period of time, Ayato had let himself in, closing the door behind him. Seeing him after so long, you couldn’t help but stare at him. He looked good. Really good. He was currently leaning against the closed door, arms crossed, wearing his signature smirk.
“Haven’t seen you in a while. Tell me, how have you been?” Ayato questioned, breaking the silence.
“How’ve I been… I um I’ve been good?” You answered, though it came out as more of a question.
The initial shock of seeing Ayato had slightly vanished and instead, questions started to form in your head. What was he doing here? Why now? Why is he acting like nothing happened? Did something even happen?
“You made me worry, you know?” Ayato once again broke the silence.
“I didn’t mean to…” You trailed off.
In all honesty, you hadn’t meant for Ayato to worry. In fact, you didn’t really believe him when he said it. You had to explain yourself, but what would you even say? ‘Sorry I was actively avoiding you, I’m just so madly in love with you.’ No, that would just be dumb.
Ayato simply smiled at your response, “It’s alright, but do you mind me asking what happened?”
“I’ve just been busy as of late.” You said in a quieter tone. It was a small lie, but he doesn’t need to know that.
This time Ayato didn’t say anything, he was waiting for you to look at him. You, on the other hand, thought the cobweb on the right side of your ceiling looked very interesting. While the cobweb was captivating, the man standing in front of you was even more captivating. You couldn’t help but look over at him. Making eye contact with Ayato, you realized your mistake.
You didn’t need to lie about your disappearance. He already knew why you vanished.
Noticing your gaze on him Ayato’s smile grew a bit larger as he asked you another question,
“Do I scare you [Name]?”
He terrified you, but not in a way you hate and he knew that. The only question left is how would you respond?
Note: Awkward cough. March has been crazy, but I plan to write more (real). Other parts of this will be out. Also I swear Ayato is NOT my favorite :)

Hi! I just thought I’d throw my hat into the ring with the whole conversation about the whole tails being willing to use his weapons more if it wasn’t for sonics interruption because as much as admit that some people can take it to far (just like on any side of the fandom with any character or idea) I think the actual idea of it is being misinterpreted.
The idea that I’ve seen always centres around how they respect each other, tails before he met sonic is a knowledges by multiple sources that he had a rough upbringing before he met sonic, this is mainly shown through the bullying that has left such an impact on his self-esteem he’s still dealing with it in recent games and still trying to overcome it. Tails is also skilled in making weapons, things he can use to defend himself and his friends.
Now no one’s saying that sonic known about the weapons or that he’s a weapons expert because that isn’t really what the head canon is about and I’ve never really seen anyone say that to be honest? The head canon mainly comes form the idea of ‘what if something went wrong and his friends were hurt and tails saw it as a last option’ this brings us back to tails upbringing
And as much as some people like to make him act more mature this is still an eight year old child who for half of his life basically was bullied so bad that it’s still impacting him. The headcanon usually (it can vary from person to person) makes tails feel the need to defend the people or things that have defended him. Mainly sonic usually.
So since tails is smart it’s only natural that he’d be quicker to the opinion ‘if I took the threat out I’d never have to deal with it again’ because it’s the most logical conclusion. I think where the head canon is mainly misinterpreted is that I don’t think anyone’s saying that tails is using his weapons on every single opponent or every single threat that comes his way. From what I’ve seen is that if it comes down to the last few options in a split second his mind will go to that logical conclusion.
However, sonic basically raised him. Sonic wouldn’t even have to literally point out what tails is doing (most of the time) because tails stops himself, because Tails knows that what he’s doing is something against his own moral code
It’s the way sonic raised him and it’s the way tails lives his life.
I think the headcanons mostly just ‘survival instinct vs moral code’ and I think that’s why people like it so much, it’s less about tails being reliant on sonic (which is what I think it’s being misinterpreted as) and more Tails respecting the way sonic raised him and the moral code he was raised to believe in to not forget it even in the heat of a battle
I apologise if I'm blunt, but you're missing the forest for the trees with all this.
This post wasn't really about Tails' willingness to use weapons. Rather, it was about fans' penchant for infantilizing Tails to the point of exaggeration, despite him showing capabilities even before Sonic showed up in his life. Tails has been enriched by Sonic, he's even said as much, but there was never an indication in the games that he would become a psychopath without him.
It removes too much agency on Tails' part for the sake of leaning too hard on Sonic's ability to affect others around him. No amount of headcanons and "well, he is a kid"-style justifications can salvage Tails straight up being done dirty. Rationalizing it is all very well in the realm of fanfiction, but not so much when dealing with the official work proper, when everything has already came, went, and influenced fandom mentality for the worse.

i think one of the main problems of tumblr (and fandom culture, and the internet in general) is that people tend to forget as human beings we are made of multitudes. nothing is ever just black or white - there are infinite shades of grey in between and that is the very thing that makes us, well, human.
sometimes people have contrasting opinions within themselves and - guess what - even contrasting feelings. sometimes people feel strongly about stuff and that is okay. you can love something/someone so much and at the same time find yourself disappointed by something related to it/them. that happens. it's okay.
i'm not gonna talk about what's going on on twitter because tbh i haven't checked so i have no idea wtf they're on about there, but i want to focus on our little tumblr community - which is so special because of the fact that it is (mostly) conflict-free, and if there's something we share it's a kind of visceral love for the boys that i'm sure everyone here can understand.
this is not an indirect @ anyone in particular, but i've seen some posts going around talking about all the negativity on the dash after last night, and i wanted to share my two cents on that.
we all love them. we all fucking love them so much and we know every time they set foot on stage we're guaranteed to be blown away by how fucking good and special and talented they are. they know how to deliver a spectacular performance (even in emergency situations like yesterday, with alex's laryngitis which is definitely far from gone) and they know how to keep the audience's attention fixed on them. they're a special kind of hypnotising, and every show is unique in and of itself *because* of their incredible presence, regardless of what setlist they might give us.
we all know that, and yesterday's show was no exception. it was amazing, powerful and breathtaking like every show they deliver. mindblowing, as always. as simple as that.
and that's exactly what can turn disappointing real quick. they know how fucking good they are. they know how much potential they have, and that all this tour they've been using up to 10% of said potential. they're incredibly talented and smart, and still decide to stick to their comfort zone every. single. night. with few exceptions, obviously, and mostly never from the album they're supposed to be touring. that's what upsets people here - the fact that they're letting their own HUGE potential go to waste.
glastonbury is a milestone. they had nothing to prove, of course, having headlined it already and more than once in the past. everyone knows what they're capable of. but glastonbury is special, too, and instead if felt like just another random show they could then go and tick off their list. done, next. rinse and repeat.
and of course we also all know it was an emergency. alex has been straining his voice for a long time now - the three consecutive london gigs were the breaking point, and i'm so glad they took a bit of time to let him rest, despite the fact that they probably hated having to cancel the dublin show. but they couldn't ditch glasto, and so they showed up and they did a fucking amazing job. alex sounded so good and i think i can speak for all of us when i say i was so incredibly relieved to see he was okay. i was shaking and biting my nails worried sick about him for DAYS up to the moment they appeared on stage and seeing him get up there and kill it with a fucking crazy performance, putting in all that effort and dedication despite the fact that he's no doubt still recovering (no way his laryngitis is 100% gone, and i hope he gets some more rest because he needs it) made me so proud of him, so fucking happy and proud and i couldn't really love him more. i love him so much, i love them all so much and i know everyone here also does. no one here is blaming it on him for whatever happened yesterday. we're all just fucking glad and grateful he could show up in the first place. he's the most special most talented most beautiful little guy ever and we all love and cherish him so much it hurts. and he did so fucking well, as always. i hope he knows that, and i hope he knows he's allowed to be sick and he's not to blame for anything. i would personally fight anyone who dared say anything bad about him because no one fuck's with tumblr's most beautiful most precious babygirlboy. no one!!!!!
having said that, big changes in the setlist - especially a live debut of hello you or other new songs - were highly unlikely and we all knew that. they probably wouldn't have had the chance to rehearse due to alex's sickness. and that's okay! sure everyone would love to see those songs finally make their grand debut. but that can wait, because alex's health is more important.
and let's face it. i don't think it's that big of a reach to say that even if alex hadn't been sick, the setlist wouldn't have changed that much anyway. there's songs that simply cannot be scrapped, songs to which they're particularly attached and songs to which average fans are also particularly attached. then there's songs that have been on rotation, and songs that have finally already made a comeback during the sheffield shows. taking away all that, the songs that have an actual real possibility of coming back aren't that many - as much as it hurts me to say it, they won't be playing secret door or piledriver waltz or batphone or whatever more niche song anytime soon. and we know that, no one *really* expects them to. because they have to gather to the general crowd, and as repetitive as their current setlist might be, it works. could house more new songs - they skipped big ideas? and songs such as mr schwartz and iaqwitia haven't made a comeback in such a long while... but still. it's bomb. it works, and it works fucking well.
however, there were other changes that could have been made to make glasto special - changes that wouldn't have been a risk to alex's health; small things that could have made a difference, even a tiny one. @mrschwartz said it perfectly in her tags (i hope it's okay to show these sbfksjf i just think you put it into words really well):
Tumblr media
it WAS a win. the sole fact of headlining glasto, in and of itself, is a win. a big fucking one at that. and little changes could have been made to make it memorable - to make it stand out when compared to every other gig they played this tour. there definitely were highlights - not only with alex's antics but also lyrically, with the jet skis/iwby/star treatment moment, which was OUTSTANDING - but for the rest nothing really spoke GLASTONBURY. nothing else *really* stood out, and that's a shame.
(not even gonna touch on the miles thing because yeah we all know they probably wanted to do it but couldn't for some reason; it's pretty clear rn that him showing up in london was to make up for him not being able to be there yesterday; we all had our suspicions and they were right. still bummed tho because them playing glasto together is a tradition!)
but considered all that, it is what it is. no one is gonna go around unstanning them because of last night. if anything, when they pull this shit they just make us want to follow them even more, to see what they'll be up to in the next shows. what aces they have up their sleeves - because we know just as well as they know that they have many. they're just too comfortable in their routine to pull them all out, and hopefully sometime in the near future we'll get to see more of what they can really do.
again, it was an amazing show. my heart was beating so fast and i kept grinning like an idiot at the screen, just because they were there. just because they showed up in the first place, with their talent and beauty and power and insane energy. just because i love them so much i can't even begin to explain it.
and i was a bit disappointed, too. because we know how much potential they have. because if they can put up an amazing show like that using only a crumble of that potential, we can only imagine how insanely spectacular of a performance they could deliver if they used even a little bit more of it.
but they refuse to, and that's what can be upsetting. but it doesn't take away the love we have for them. the two things can coexist, and they don't take away from each other. if anything, i woke up this morning with even more love for them than i did yesterday, exactly because they frustrate me with how legendary they are, and how bad i want them to show that to the whole world.
i love them, i'm disappointed, and that's not gonna stop me from loving them even more.

If every vampire were to have a special gift, which would be unique for them, which would Rosalie, Emmett, Esme and Carlisle have?
I've answered a version of this before but it's fun to revisit!
I think I usually say that Rosalie would have something similar to Heidi of the Volturi's gift, that her enhanced beauty would get some psychic element and spill over to superpower. And I still think that is the most logical thing, but it's not super exciting. It's predictable. Rosalie is also big into family, and into justice (sometimes revenge), and she's very determined. Any of that stuff could have been enhanced, too. Maybe she has an always correct gut instinct about people in dangerous domestic situations. She doesn't 'hear' things like Edward or 'see' them like Alice, she just knows. And can intervene.
Likewise the obvious answer for Emmett is that his super strength somehow spills over into a superpower. Maybe even MORE strength or he himself is so strong he's basically invulnerable to attack (can't bite through his skin, can't rip him apart). The other option is that the strength is not the focus, like how Edward for some reason is also super fast even though he already has mind-reading. Emmett can be super strong and have something else entirely. Maybe a cheerful aura like Didyme had, or maybe being near Emmett puts you in a party mood, or a work-out mood, or just makes you feel chill and supported. Literally gives off Bro Vibes, but in a good way.
Honestly have always kind of felt like the shield thing would have worked for Esme almost better than Bella. Bella loves fiercely, sure, and she has her protected mind, but Esme loves EVERYONE with the intensity that Bella loves Edward (not romantic in all cases obviously, just talking about the strength of Esme's love) and with that love would come with a desire to protect. A shield could do that. But maybe it's more like Renata's shield, it doesn't protect against psychic attacks, but physical ones. Or maybe Esme's love just radiates out of her so strongly that she could stand in front of those she loves and enemies just . . . can't bring themselves to hurt her to get to the others. Makes everyone instantly remember their mother or a beloved parental/familial figure and the line of Volturi guards just turn into blubbering messes as Esme comforts them.
Again the obvious one with Carlisle, I think, is some kind of healing ability. I know I've said this myself before. But he wasn't a doctor in his human life, that's a choice he made after becoming a vampire. The literally meaning of compassion is "to suffer with," so maybe his gift would be more of a thing where he can take the suffering from someone else by feeling it himself. Whether he actually takes the illness and cures them, or just takes the pain so they aren't suffering anymore, idk. I mean he's a vampire so he can't die, and I don't think any illness could survive the stone-and-venom environment of SM's vampire physiology anyway. And there's a theory floating around fandom that he does have a power in the sense that he unconsciously draws people to him; thus building a family and building allies and being able to blend in with the human world when humans usually subconsciously find vampires off-putting.
But at the end of the day I like that they don't have any supernatural powers. I feel like sometimes the superpower just overwhelms the character and they get reduced to that rather than a more nuanced personality. I think Carlisle's more interesting and impressive because he has accomplished what he has accomplished without one. I think Esme keeping a family united by love rather than a 'real' power is lovely. That Emmett bringing the fun because that's just WHO he is and not what he can do is cool. That Rosalie is just determined and focused and smart and THAT's why she is what she is and does what she does rather than some power is awesome.

hi! do you ever feel like the bingqiu fandom is binghe biased? like a lot of the time its giving.. “wow binghe is our little precious bun who deserves the world and more! ..oh and stinky neet loser sqq is so blessed to have him lul” it feels unfair towards sqq :( it makes me sad hes no ones fave but thats okay like whatever right? but even when its bingqiu hes treated like an afterthought. like we have binghe fans criticising sqq for not doing more, sj fans are frankly delusional, sqh fans think hes “too mean” to their precious hamster, liushen fans only like him bc hes a good hole/dick for lqg (obligatory “not all men” lol) idk i only follow a handful of svsss twt accs because no one seems to like him, he feels either tolerated or treated as a gag character lol 🥹
i just dislike a lot of fanon bingqiu i think? i read all the books before hopping on twitter and i see some absolute rancid takes on there like the woobification of Shaun(tm) qinghua and jiumei.. which is easy enough to avoid tbf so whatever floats their boat idc. but when i follow bingqiu accs, it feels like OC x OC rather than ~bingqiu~ if that makes sense? like i LOVE the manipulative crybaby domtop x flustered thin face subby pillow princess they have going on!! and fanon bingqiu is just.. not it? and obv id never send hate or anything (i just block and keep it moving) but it makes it kinda sucky when the fandom is already teeny tiny and a large chunk of the fandom isnt what i envisioned/expected i guess which is so odd! when they essentially erase canon!! if it’s like some queerbaity ship or whatever, people can characterise them however they want but its like CANON how they act/are in bed/etc and its all taken away!!! idk im probably just whining sorry 😭
(i included all my thoughts here sorry for the spam!!)
hey, thanks for stopping by!! I definitely know what you mean with regards to SQQ, but I will assure you that there are very much still plenty of dedicated "sqq mains" out there. My sphere of influence on twitter is heavily biased toward people for whom sqq is their favourite character, so maybe I'm not getting a representative sample of the fandom overall, but he's definitely a very well loved character and has more than his fair share of people who do him justice in their writing and for whom he's their primary blorbo!! I remember posting this on reddit a while back and more than half of the responses (though admittedly a small sample size) had him as their fave. So, I don't think he's without appreciation!
But with that said, I do get where you’re coming from. I’m not gonna talk about readers who take his actions in bad faith and actively dislike him (HOW??), but as you’ve said, even among people who do like him, we don’t always understand him as well as we could. Most fans do get on some level that he’s an unreliable narrator, but it’s still very common for people to take him at face value and completely miss his depth. He’s a funny little guy with amusing narration, but he’s also kind and selfless, and he’s also smart and witty, and obnoxious and annoying, and frankly pretty insensitive, and deeply, deeply traumatised—and a million other things! He has layers.
I think all popular characters in fandom will inevitably start getting boiled down to a few key traits. And as somebody who’s been writing fic for 15 years, it’s really hard not to let your own biases colour your portrayal? I absolutely do it with SQQ!! I focus on his kinder, warmer aspects and downplay his flaws, I’ll readily admit that. We all get drawn to a favourite character for a certain trait, and that trait becomes the grit around which our interpretations form. If you’re somebody that likes silly characters, you’re going to write SQQ and dial his silliness up to eleven. If you like kind characters, you’ll write SQQ with emphasis on his kindness. None of these traits are OOC in and of themselves, but if you start to only read fanfic and don’t revisit the source material, you can get lost in what’s popular and forget all the depth that actually made them interesting in the first place. And once you’ve grown attached to a particular version of the characters in your head, it can be really hard to let go of it. I don’t really know where I’m going with this, but I'll add that I think protagonists are just particularly prone to this happening because they're usually the one the audience relates to most.
Idk if any of that really addresses the stuff you were talking about. You mentioned dom top Binghe/pillow princess sqq and to be honest I’m kind of reluctant to talk about this in depth because I’ve received negative comments in the past for supposedly being anti-bottom Binghe, when all I’ve ever said on this matter is that I think it’s a bit weird to insist that “I’m scared of hurting you so I might as well let you do it” is proof that Binghe is canonically a bottom. The fact that someone found that statement so threatening to their view of the characters that they would go to my ao3 page, click on the first fic they saw that happened to feature bottom SQQ and leave their holier-than-thou anonymous opinion there is just bizarre to me.
To be honest tho, it tends to be Binghe characterisation that puts me off moreso than Shen Qingqiu. The only SQQ characterisation that truly bothers me is when people write him as willing to hurt Binghe, or willing to do anything with underage Binghe, but there is a LOT of Binghe stuff that I’m sensitive too. Idk if you read this thread of mine but like, even my friends whom I love make “Binghe stalking/imprisoning/"atticwifing" SQQ” jokes and these bother me way more than any random stranger saying SQQ would get off on spanking Binghe.
And like, it’s kind of hard because objectively, Binghe is a very dark character, so it doesn't feel particularly OOC to say he would do those things, but it's about framing. It bothers me when the emphasis is on how fucked up he is and not how hard he's trying, because it implies a level of futility that I just don’t think is there in canon. To me the beauty of him is in how much doing right by SQQ doesn't come naturally to him, but he ultimately decides to do it anyway because he wants SQQ to be happy. (I feel it needs to be said that I don't mean this in a judgy "if you write dark Binghe you don't understand him and are a bad person" way. Just that I myself can't handle that, and I strongly disagree if you think it's where Bingqiu's relationship is headed).
but idk, I've found my corner and I'm very happy here. I actually don't read fic as often as you'd think, mostly because I am sooooo picky, so I totally get where you're coming from :) but the fandom is still decently sized and very diverse, so there are always going to be at least a few people who share your feelings, if you can find them!

i’ve already ranted about the ridiculous amount of hate build gets on twitter, but please, let me say again how childish and hypocritical things are getting. Let’s start from the beginning.
Weirdly enough, the vp photobook behind the scenes and a certain amount of vp content start to come out the moment rumor has it bible and build will get a new show for just the two of them (content that had been around since may apparently). Back then I thought they were starting to hint about a kp s2 focusing on vp, because that would have been smart. Clearly, I was wrong.
The announcement event starts, bible and build are revealed to be working with sammon on something very sammon-like. Sammon, for those who don’t know, is a prolific writer, and had some of her books turned into tv shows (Manner of Death and Triage, just to mention the most popular). She definitely does not need to plagiarize anyone.
One of the kp writer starts to go on a rampage on twitter, claiming she was betrayed by someone in boc and and unfollows build on twitter.
Reminder: a show has just been announced, but build is weirdly silent.
Couple of days pass, and guess what? The aforementioned writer withdraws from daemi house, stating she didn’t want her bad actions to reflect on her colleagues or something along those lines.
Today, Build decides to speak up about the issue and clarify everything and to apologize if unintentionally he hurt anyone. He stated that he never shared anything about 4 minutes, that he never stole ideas from the kp writers and that his relationship with them was over. Also, he apologized to the fans for all the mess that was going on even though really, he shouldn’t have. He literally did nothing wrong in this case. I also kind of appreciated the fact that he didn’t involve Bible (it could have been the easiest way) and that he mentioned it was a personal issue. He ends up breaking down because obviously getting continuous hate for something you said years ago will break anyone at a certain point, and when that hate gets revamped by people who you were kind of friends and colleague with, it just hit harder i suppose.
One would think that after all the shit the kp writers did to all the members of the cast, this time people would show reason and side with build, right? I thought something we all agreed on was that writers are trash m. Well, no, because some mile and apo stans decide it’s time to side with the writers because apparently poi talked about sa in her allegations (not directed to build, from what i gathered on twitter, but of course that wouldn’t matter if you’re keen on hating someone). Adding this later because i just got more info. Poi posted on her ig pictures of blood and injuries, hinting at the fact that she had been attacked. Guess what? The pictures had been downloaded from pinterest and she had to admit she was fine and nothing had happened. Again: disgusting behavior.
Now, my opinion on this matter is: the kp writers didn’t like to be sidelined by boc and first, they tried to bring the attention over them with the photobook, and then, poi decided to go for the jugular with her accusations. Attacking build is the easiest way to gain clout these days, everyone and their grandmas know that. If she’d tried something like that with mile, apo, jeff, barcode or bible, the whole kp fandom would have eaten her alive, but build? Build is an easy target, considering what happened in the past. Also, if she had actual evidence of what she claims, she would have brought them out and Build wouldn’t have had the guts to hold a public speech. We’ve been saying for months that poi and yok are dangerous, that the actors were uncomfortable when they were around and when one them actually speaks up about what’s going on (and clearly it’s not easy for him, because from what i gathered he was close to her), people need to go and be dickheads. The kp writers have been acting like they own the kp cast from the beginning, so it really doesn’t surprise me that exactly when the two actors who would have brought them the most money (let’s be real here, the moment vp raised, nobody really cared about the kp dynamic anymore) go and announce they’re working with a popular writer for their upcoming show, the female writer decide to feel betrayed and plagiarized? I find that suspicious, not going to lie. Also, there is the fact that build literally had a full break down, he was devastated. Who would like to be dragged through the mud the moment an important project of yours is announced? And to those saying he was faking it, i suppose you can believe what you want, but obviously it wasn’t something planned, it was clear not even bible was aware he was going to speak up.
At this point, i’ll cherish pete, vegad and kp s1 with all my heart but i really wish neither build or any of the cast will ever have anything to do with the writers anymore.
Edit: this post was written before poi came out with her screenshots. I legit don’t know what to think anymore, but one thing i can tell you for sure: until this whole mess well be cleared, i will not show any kind of support for neither of them
Edit 2: i will riot if build doesn’t get the justice he deserves

Hi! Let me start by saying that I am a follower of your blog because I enjoy your take on things. Not because I hate follow you like some people seem to do. With that said, I’m very excited you get to meet Louis on Sunday! How fun for you! But I have an honest question. Not one to argue with you or even question you. But something I’ve wrestled with myself. Since you know all of the lies we’ve been fed about F being his son, and you see the gaslighting that goes on regularly from Louis to his fans. Most recently, the infamous chicken parm tweet, how do you separate that as a fan of his? How do you get so excited to meet him without wanting to look him in the face and say please stop lying. Maybe it’s just me. I’m just having a hard time with him continuing to lie to us and scold us and then out of the other side of his mouth he says he has the most freedom he’s ever had. That just tells me he choosing to lie and use F for his gain. His gain means money and fans. I don’t know… again, not trying to judge you. Just trying to understand and figure out where my brain is. I hope you have a wonderful time at the show!
Hey anon! Thank you for the kind words. It’s perfectly normal to feel this way, and a lot of us have these moments as well! So don’t stress x
I think what’s important here overall is to remember that record labels, managers, everyone involved in Louis’ team make money from Louis’ fame and publicity too. It’s certainly not just louis, and a huuuuuge chunk of it goes towards them, particularly if he’s signed to a Global Deal which I imagine he would be. Remember how in one direction they were worked to the absolute bone? Barely having a break, nonstop touring, recording every second they could (a good example is that one scene from This Is Us where zayn was asleep for 10 minutes before he was woken up to record more vocals) and they were just kids. They signed a contract without a personal lawyer due to X Factor rules, were taken advantage of, and used as a money making machine for S*co and his bunch of monkeys. But I’m sure you’re already very aware of this, so let’s fast forward to 13 years down the track with this in mind…
Louis was roped into a wild stunt contract, also known as bbg, with a half assed promise of more freedom for him, a potential end result of him and harry coming out, and probably a bunch of other promises and opportunities thrown his way if he signed off on it. He received solo PR while still being in a band, meaning he had a bit of a safety blanket if the band broke up and wouldn’t immediately disappear from the public eye (like Liam did). And you know what? BBG was probably meant to go for a much shorter time than it has. I imagine the proposed stunt, and the alterations it’s had over the years, look pretty bloody different. But without going into too much detail on that stunt specifically, Louis is incredibly smart in the way he communicates with us. He does juuuuust enough to meet his contractual obligations. He knows what he can get away with. He knows his fandom is majority larries. He knows what we talk about and what we say.
The consequences if he didn’t sign this contract? Probably pretty dire, if I’m honest. When you have one of the biggest labels in the world (the other two are WME & Universal) throwing you a bone, it’s pretty hard to turn it down. These 3 labels (also known as The Big 3 in the industry) have a monopoly over the music industry and can make or break someone pretty damn quick. So I imagine he would’ve signed to cover his own ass and not lose his whole career, because he’s been manipulated into that. The music industry can be evil and brutal and it’s all about money. All about PR.
Particularly in this day and age where we are oversaturated with celebrities, media, etc., it’s hard to stand out from the crowd. The Big 3 are good at what they do, and that’s why they are The Big 3. They know how to do PR, they know how to write contracts and get artists to sign off on them, they know how to dangle carrots and make deals that benefit themselves greatly (oftentimes more than the artist). So being in louis’ position, it was more like he was coerced into it, if that makes sense?
Sorry, im tired from work and rambling now, but have you heard the phrase “separate the art from the artist”? It’s an interesting take that some people agree with, so they can enjoy that artist’s music while ignoring their faults/bad choices/problematic behaviour, because the music is what’s important. I don’t necessarily agree with that take, and I’m not gonna go down a rabbit hole on it, but I do think some fans do this with louis. And that helps them still enjoy the music, without getting involved in bbg or any other stunts, ya know? It helps to just think about the cutie happy wholesome louis that we know and love, and not his PR image. And that is absolutely fair enough, I just can’t do that because I know too much and I’ve been here for too long and I WILL see this through hahahah.
Okay now to actually answer your question, about me personally, of course I would want to tell him to leave his contract and get a better deal and come out with Harry and trust that his fans will still love him and he’ll still have a career, but that’s not possible. It’s not possible because I’d get throat punched by security, but it’s also not possible because that’s not realistic. He knows what we all say, and what we think of larry. He understands our frustration and can literally see it online every day. His hands are tied, until they’re not. And we can’t do anything about that. So it’s just about appreciating him and his music because we can’t control anything else.
So, just remember that he’s beautiful and sweet and caring, watch some old one direction videos/larry deep dives, and take a breath because we know him, and he’s not this asshole that his image has radically become.

Okay, on the discussion of characters, I was LITERALLY thinking earlier today of how Sasha is one of my favorite characters in TMA. (Sorry I went on a tangent but hear me out-)
Sasha. A character who we BARELY hear from in the one season she's alive in, has had such a MASSIVE impact on the entire fandom that to this DAY people still make AU's where she lives, of her relationship to multiple other characters, to what could have been or WHO she was based on a few one liners, a statement, and her final moments. After that it's the impact she had on other characters that helped us see her for who she was. We were fed some information on her (Ex. Jon thinking SASHA would have pranked him with a statement and not Tim, Gertrude wanting to make Sasha the next Archivist because she knew she would've been smart enough to see what was happening, Sasha choosing to follow Micheal who was clearly a Not Human Thing,-), but we weren't spoon fed information on who she was if that makes sense? We, through context clues and just idk, good writing on Jonny's part, were able to put together this character in our minds of who Sasha was in and out of the office and her relationship with the other characters, even though she only existed for BARELY ONE SEASON.
Cut to TMAGP, and, like you said, we're being force fed these characters and archetypes. LOOK THIS IS GWEN SHE'S SUPER SERIOUS , THIS IS ALICE SHE'S ~QUIRKY~ AND HAS A BROTHER SHE'S TAKING CARE OF (WHICH SIDE NOTE: WE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW TIM HAD A BROTHER UNTIL LATER and it's revealed to us in such a great, tragic way and shows some things about his character we hadn't noticed before, or let us explore ideas about him!) THIS IS LENA SHE'S DARK AND MYSTERIOUS MAY BE A BAD GUY WHO KNOWS WHAT'S HAPPENING OOOOH SPOOKY- And I feel nothing towards any of them. I think it's funny that so far a lot of people who don't like the series all admit that we like Gwen the most because she's the most down to earth and idk, realistically written character? But it just makes me so... Idk, it makes me laugh angrily that this new show that is so focused on these new characters so far doesn't have me liking any of them (Gwen's on thin ice-). They're being shoved in our faces way too quickly and are just thrown their entire wikipedia articles to listen to.
Like, that one comment about how Sam and Alice are exes makes me think of how when Melanie mentioned to Jon that Georgie knew him, he didn't go "OH YES MY EX GIRLFRIEND GEORGIE." He was just like, "Oh! You know Georgie huh? Hm..." and it's later we find out they dated.
SORRY THIS IS SO MUCH I JUST AHSIDOAHS dude. Like. I only like Colin and sort of Gwen and that's it. Everyone else is so annoying, and seeing that the show is BARELY focused on the statements, it's a SLOG to get through.
So sorry for such a long message ; -Z
i will say as politely as i can that the amount of attention this fandom gives a particular character is not generally indicative of their story impact BUT i fo agree that i really like the part sasha plays in the story and the way her death + replacement send huge ripples of drastic effect across all characters
and i 100% agree with the rest of this. even gwen is wearing on me because when a character is just. rude? and the only thing you know about them is that they are someone's coworker? why would i like them? why would i be sympathetic to them? i've started plenty of jobs where people are huge assholes for now reason other than already being super burnt out on the position. but it's awful to take that out on a brand new employee? so gwen is on thin ice for me as well.
but yeah i think you've contrasted very wel the way tma created its characters vs the like bullet point lists of Traits™️that tmp characters have instead

Well, I guess it's time to address the situation... or the lack of situation lol This is gonna be long, be warned. There's a TL;RD at the end if you wanna skip the wall of text. To start, thank you to the two anons who took the time to read the comic and prod me about it and the new people who started following this tumblr in spite of the Hiatus warning. Altho this place has been collecting dust for more than a year now, I'm still around, updating my side reblogs tumblr, so it's not like I dropped from the face of the earth.
The truth is, at this moment in time, I've feel out of love with making this comic. It was always a lot of work due to me being a perfectionist. I never used any extra rendering apps, all you've seen here is raw sims images and a lot of work on Photoshop, so much so it gave me a muscle contracture on my right shoulder (because I did all my work in bed with my laptop/drawing tablet in my lap. I never said I was a smart person lol) that still flares up from time to time because I learned nothing. Then the VA fandom was already quite small by the time I started doing this in 2015 and I never really advertised this in the fandom anyway. I always got the impression most of the fandom didn't like the OG comics as it was and most of the people that followed the comic were sims 2 fans because, well, it's made with the sims and the images were pretty (forever holding in my heart the people you said this <;3) The recent "Vampire Academy" TV series (it was just in names, honestly) was the final nail in the coffin of my motivation. After information had leaked I was already disappointed in it, but after actually watching it, yeah no. Only plus to it was the surprise to see it was partially filmed in my country, in places where I have been myself. And lastly, and probably most importantly, I struggle with motivation a lot. It happens to us all, I am sure. It's no secret that I hated to panel, if I'd start all over again I'd just post the big images like many of you telling stories are doing now, it'd be less of a stress for me, but alas, I can't change formats now. And I said many times I was doing it mostly for myself, because I did love the comics based on the books, but doing it for yourself only gets you so far until you get bored. And I got bored. I'm actually surprised my hyper-focus on it lasted for as long as it did. I haven't been to Photoshop for editing - I used to make photomanipulations and other kinds of editing - for way over a year, so it's not only the comic that stopped.
I still have 7 pages to end chapter 6 in various degrees of editing, Veninorchid and Esotheria-sims have seen them, so they exist lol I will eventually finish editing them - it's mostly a Romitri flashback - and post them. But after that, I will have to decide how to proceed. Spending less time editing would help, but lowering the quality of my pages, the only thing people like about it, really doesn't sit well with me, because yeah, perfectionist.
So at the very least the remaining pages will be posted in early 2024, I might go back to it slowly, a little bit everyday so I don't burn out or put stress on my shoulder. But after that, it's up in the air. It's not like I've been staring at the walls during this time, I had other things taking my goldfish-like attention. I got interested in home bookbinding, which made me dig out old unfinished stories I once started and I've been trying to finish them and later try to bind them, because why the fuck not lol And on my reblogs tumblr I had this set of pictures about a Regency little story that people really loved and I'd like to add to it, but then again, all the editing it'd need *cries* I feel tugged in so many directions I fear I'll end up doing nothing lol
So the TL;DR is, I got bored with the comic because it was too much work and resulted in physical pain, I lacked the motivation and other things got my attention meanwhile. Chapter 6 will be be finished eventually, but after that it's up in the air. Cross my fingers that I get my mojo back while editing those pages. Still, a thank you to all of followed and are still following, sorry these were not the good news you wanted to read just because I made a post. You support up until now was what kept me going in the past, I can't thank you all enough.

To me the problem with lore olympus and rachel is that she keeps the fan feedback too close to her chest, yes it does "affect her because she's very sensitive" which is smth rachel has said before in interviews and stuff, but the problem is that if u let fan opinions get in the way of ur work maybe u should set boundaries with the way u interact with fan content OF UR OWN WORK.
Im not sure if im explaining myself correctly, but the way rachel somehow always tries to prove criticism wrong and has slowly started ignoring the foundations she previously set is making everything just so flat and boring. She doesnt work with what we've already read but trying to somehow "fix" things that are sometimes not clear on the get go.
For example, u (and a lot of people) complained about how demeter explicitly said she always put persephone in white (when persephone has willingly been wearing that color through the entire series). Meanwhile, i remember having read a post from loreolympians on instagram (iirc) analyzing perse's change of color scheme during s2.
The problem with these things is that rachel has most likely been engaging with these fans who take for granted that she plans everything out or that everything has a deep meaning (which to a sense you should do, because having faith in the author is usually how to go about analyzing storytelling), and somehow it's become a strange echochamber and it results in these weird, very blatantly written to be noticed, details or moments htat try to be smart but are just flat bc rachel doesnt give any effort to anything else aand prefers telling rather than showing so she can feel like a good author when fans obviously point these out
Jdhdjd these are just my two cents and sorry for the long rant but yeah basically rachel should separate herself from the fandom and try to write more objectively and focusing on the narrative instead of taking every little criticism of her comic so personally
Honestly, I can get being a little squeamish around criticism, shit I've had analysis stuff on my work that's consisted of praise and it's still sometimes a little overwhelming to read (I've got a big one in my asks right now that took me like 10 minutes to get thru because I had to keep taking breathers and I still need to actually share it LMAO it's not even criticism! it's just got so much in it, ahfdsaklg)
When it comes to criticism, I still get a little "aw man" sometimes. I recently got feedback from Pyrrhic & Victoria on my Reaper redraws and even though I'm pals with them and know they aren't gonna be harsh, it's still an incredibly vulnerable position to put oneself in. Especially when it's projects that you hold very close to your sense of self.
RS has definitely taken it a little too far in tying LO to herself as a person. Criticism of the comic = criticism of her , and her fanbase seems to view this the same way, that if someone doesn't like the comic, that has to automatically say something about them as consumers when... it really doesn't. If anything their reactions to criticism say way more about them as people than the criticism existing lmao
What's more upsetting and simultaneously eye-rolling is the fact that Rachel goes out of her way to look for things to be upset about. On multiple occasions now over the past 4-5 years, she's snuck into groups containing criticism, attempted to strongarm power away from moderators so she could have criticism removed, and basically just ruined her own day over other people's opinions whether or not they were meant to be read by her.
It's why I stand by the fact that people shouldn't be directly messaging RS with criticism or hate because that would just be unsolicited cruelty. While she should be more open to criticism, that doesn't mean she needs to open the floodgates on her DM's because there are plenty of places for criticism to exist outside of her peripheral. But she keeps turning her head to look at it. Like, she'll throw a hissy fit over criticism that wasn't even really directly aimed at her, just meant for the sake of discussion. And that's where I'd really honestly wish she could just get a grip.
Like, I'm sure there's criticism of Rekindled out there already. Shit, I've had other projects from yeeears ago that ended up being made fun of outside of where I posted it. It sucked, but going out and actively looking for it for the purpose of erasing it from existence wasn't going to make me a better creator nor was it going to benefit me as a person.
It's a shitty reality, but the bigger you grow as a creator, the more you will have to separate yourself from your audience. You don't have to stonewall them completely, many people follow these works for the creators themselves, but you're not entitled to everyone's friendship and praise, and if the criticism really bugs you that much, then fucking work on the thing they're criticizing, don't double down on it or try to control how your audience consumes your content.
It's why it drives me so nuts when RS does infiltrate these groups because it's an incredible invasion of privacy as well as the creator-reader relationship. Q&A's, panels, and personal socials are where you go to interact with the creator. A creator sneaking into a Discord group or subreddit or FB group with the intent of "listening in" would be equivalent to J.K. Rowling showing up in person to a book club meeting. It's just disrespectful to your audience and makes you look like a huge asshole. Have some grace and for once, I'll tell Rachel and her fanbase to take their own advice - if you don't like it, don't read it.

I will delete this later if it takes off and floods my notifications because this is mostly a fandom and meme and cute animals blog and while this is brought up for media-related reasons it's a kind of thing I really don't want to get overly involved in on my fandom and meme and cute animals blog, BUT I can't just not say anything about it because I have been noticing some really, REALLY worrying things in The Discourse around the flood of labor rights concerns coming to light in media (and elsewhere) lately.
1: If someone shares a corroborated story of labor theft and/or workplace abuse, and immediately people start digging up problematic things they once said or did...
Tumblr media
Don't fall for it. It doesn't matter how shitty a person is, you do not have to agree with them on ANYTHING else to agree that mistreating people providing labor for you is shitty. Have your "Heartbreaking: The Worst Person You Know Just Made A Great Point" moment and stick to the issue. If you decide there's an exception for Bad People, well, you incentivize companies to just smear any ex-employee who speaks out against them as a Bad Person. If they really are as bad as it looks? I mean, yeah, that sucks, but make your decisions about what to make of that LATER, when people aren't bringing it up to excuse abuse that had literally nothing to do with it.
But, even while you keep that in mind, be extremely, EXTREMELY careful to-
2: Never, EVER forget that fascists LOVE to superficially support labor rights issues as a recruiting ground.
Fascists love finding groups of white people rightfully angry about their labor being stolen. It's very, very easy to take that and make just a few gentle pushes to turn "they don't value your labor" into "they want to replace you with an immigrant/disabled person" - and in media this may very well take the form of "if you let Those People do this difficult and highly skilled work, then it will just destroy The Culture, it's degenerate!" This is a pattern that has repeated multiple times throughout history, pseudo-populism is THE most successful recruiting method they have. We see it in places outside media already, with right-wingers promising that inflation isn't because of corporate greed but because of ~illegals~ driving up demand and medicine for The Gays costing soooo much - and now we're seeing it in arguments about media labor rights.
But there's something important to remember here: media is one place where recruiting fascists very well MIGHT acknowledge it's corporate greed - as a gateway for antisemitism. The whole "Jews control the media and hoard all the money" thing isn't a myth that only exists in Europe so you can just ignore it in American discussions. This doesn't mean there's no corporate greed here, nor any assholes hoarding money, but it does mean you need to be extremely, EXTREMELY wary of what direction someone pushes the discussion about it, who they think the assholes are, or what they think the solution is. They're not going to lead with "reptilian conspiracy". They ARE likely to point out groups other than Jews who were targeted in the Holocaust, not to inspire solidarity among the marginalized, but to say "doesn't it seem like we focus on this one a little too much? Clearly it's because they run the world and want to make themselves out to be the victims!" - though it will never be that fast; they will usually do it in a way that leads you to that conclusion yourself and makes you feel smart for "uncovering the conspiracy".
It is extremely, EXTREMELY important right now to familiarize yourself with what fascist ideology actually IS, because being gay or disabled or even a POC or Jewish does not magically render you immune when labor rights are something EVERYONE in your circle is talking about and it's so, SO easy to bastardize that very necessary discussion into being about "immigrants stealing your job and lowering the standards for everyone".
An inexhaustive list of red flags to look out for:
Implying that those who don't work don't deserve their basic survival needs: sorting disabled people into a dichotomy of tragic charity cases vs. whiny lazy exaggerators if not outright fakers, victim-blaming the homeless and addicts, etc. - when a fascist is trying to recruit based on labor rights concerns in spaces that are more left-leaning, they will usually not do this directly, but subtly position them as threats to your bargaining power
Treating intense competition for basic living wages as a foregone conclusion; implying that there just isn't enough to go around; even if they ACKNOWLEDGE that there's enough food, there are enough houses, there can and should be enough medicine to go around, there may still be the subtext that a cutthroat job market is something inevitable and some people DESERVE to go without for being "lazy"
Talking about automation (including AI tech, in the media discussion!!) in such a way as to fearmonger about "replacing skilled labor with unskilled labor" - they may not use those exact words in places where they hear people say "there is no such thing as unskilled labor, only undervalued skills" regularly, but they know damned well that it's reeeeal easy to convince a lot of people that [insert NEW skill here] is the exception. This isn't to say there aren't valid labor (and SAFETY) concerns surrounding rushed and greedy and haphazard implementation of automation, but "unskilled labor" is not one of them and in fact by buying into that myth you help make it EASIER for the bosses to undervalue the new skills even MORE than they already do, which is why fascists love it so much!
IF YOU SEE THE WORD "DEGENERATE", RUN LIKE HELL!! Media in particular is a reeeeeally easy place to push the conversation into being less about basic human rights and more about "cultural degeneracy"; DO NOT LET IT HAPPEN. For example, they may try to slide this into discussions of excess reliance on CGI where it isn't appropriate because set designers and prop makers are unionized and CGI is not and usually done in sweatshop-like cubicle farms...and imply there's something Inherently Bad And Lazy And ~Degenerate~ about digital effects by nature and that the workers in fact deserve to be paid so little and the only problem is that the superior people who do it inherently so much better deserve more; do not fall for this
In short: yes, support laborers. People deserve adequate compensation for their work. ALL people do, so do not fall for some sweet-talker bitching about "some lazy jerk getting your paycheck for doing nothing", or driving wedges between marginalized groups about who's "more deserving", or characterizing the bosses enacting this as anything more inhuman than just garden variety greedy asshats. Unions are generally good, crossing picket lines is bad, and scabbing is a dick move (and potential career suicide anyway tbh) if you can meet your basic needs ANY other way, but don't let someone trick you into thinking the disabled guy who was coerced into working during a strike because he wouldn't have been able to buy the medicine he needed to live otherwise is more of an enemy to you than the boss who held it over his head is.
Be careful out there and remember:

Thank you for spreading the Tighnari-caring-for-Cyno agenda I am so so tired of every ship with 2 (or more) characters of different skin tones having the darker one turned into the "big strong but goofy himbo protector one" and the lighter into the "small weak uwu but smart damsel one". And most people don't even notice the racist undertones they just think it's a common fanfic trope and totally acceptable and it drives me up the walls because if you try and bring it up you're "overthinking" and "It's just fic"... I get that but it's almost every fic in almost every interracial ship in almost every fandom I've ever been in and...I'm tired
I don't think that liking the dynamic is inherently racist (which I know you aren't stating it is! I just want people to know I'm not calling them racist over a ship), but it is telling when every similar ship has the same dynamic. It definitely isn't malicious, but, you know, internalized biases. It's something worth exploring because we all have them; I'm certainly not immune to them. The fact Cyno is often depicted as less intelligent than Tighnari is definitely something people should question, though, because racism and colourism play a massive role in perceived intelligence. I made a post on it that people can read here if they haven't already. That said, I'm also white, so I can't exactly speak to racial biases the way a BIPOC can, and I always welcome their voices and opinions on the topic.
As for my agenda of Tighnari taking care of Cyno, I'm really passionate about it (probably too passionate). We see how much pressure Cyno is constantly under. He even says that he has to weigh every choice he makes carefully because of the consequences. When Nilou asks if he's happy, he dodges the question and says it doesn't matter. Tighnari says he looks lonely.
I think people like that need somebody to take care of them. They need somebody to put a hand on their shoulder and tell them to stop running themselves into the ground, because Cyno will go until he breaks (looking at his story quest, where he takes down 300 people in four days after losing somebody very important to him and just doesn't talk about it.) He deserves to be loved, and he deserves to be vulnerable and hurt. He is allowed and should show weakness sometimes. He should be held and wrapped in blankets, or bathed, or comforted, or whatever, instead of always being the strong, comforting presence. It's okay to be that, but he deserves some vulnerability, too.
It's why all my fics focus on Hurt!Cyno, and why my other secret agenda is that a lot of people love him. I refuse to write a BIPOC who everybody is threatened by and dislikes. I strongly headcanon that he's adored by the matra and has close friends like Tighnari and Kaveh. The other forest watchers may be wary of him, but they ultimately like him and welcome him to Gandharva Ville.
I want to balance the scales a little instead of always having Cyno comfort Tighnari. I want it to be the other way around, because it's okay to be vulnerable. I also love every fic where Cyno is injured or sick and goes to Tighnari because Tighnari is his safe person, and I endlessly wish there was more of them.
(I just want to reiterate that writing Tighnari as vulnerable/hurt, and Cyno as protective doesn't make anybody a bad person, or racist, or homophobic, or whatever, but it might be worth trying out dynamics different from the mainstream! You might find that you enjoy them.)
Hopefully, this response makes sense! I'm a little scattered today, so I can never tell. Thank you so much for the ask; I really appreciate it, and I'm glad you find my headcanons refreshing ❤❤❤

It’s time for another rant, folks.
Let’s talk about hateful rhetoric in fandoms, particularly regarding shipping.
Whenever two opinions in a fandom are mutually exclusive (or at least seem to be), the people on either side of the issue start to attack each other. We saw it with Team Cap or Team Iron Man. We see it with every opposing ship.
With the Loki series once again filming, I’ve seen a resurgence in fandom activity in both the Sylki and Lokius fandoms. I want to point out that most of the renewed activity has been positive: “I’m so excited for…” “I can’t wait to see…” “I hope we get more of…”
But it’s impossible to scroll through either tag without coming across the hate. “I hope Sylvie isn’t in season 2.” “The Lokius fandom is so awful that the ship is ruined.”
Now, I grew up in an emotionally abusive household, so I’m used to people telling me that my likes and interests make me less valuable as a person, but a more sensitive person might really take those words to heart. We need to be careful about what we say on the internet. It’s easy to let our anger flow through our social media. Sometimes we just want to rant, but when we make a post on Tumblr, Twitter, whatever, it isn’t like unloading an opinion on a friend who we already know feels the same way. We put those words in front of people who don’t share those opinions, and it can be hurtful.
“You mean I can’t criticize the media I consume?” Okay, smart guy, that’s not what I said. But there’s a difference between criticizing the media and criticizing the people who don’t agree with your criticism.
So if you are upset that Marvel promised us genderfluid representation in the Loki series and then neglected to deliver on that, like, at all, point that out, by all means! If you think Sylki is weird because of the ‘falling in love with yourself’ element, say so. If you think Mobius and Loki have a power imbalance between them, feel free to express that opinion.
There’s a difference between “I feel this way about this thing” and “people who don’t feel the way I feel about this thing are invalid/crazy/horrible.”
I tend to have a thick skin when it comes to mean people on the internet, but there was one time when I was deeply affected by it. For those who don’t know, I very openly ship Spideypool aka Spider-Man/Deadpool aka Peter Parker/Wade Wilson. And someone on the internet noticed that, and took it upon themselves to inform me that I was a pedophile.
I was angry, and I was hurt. I actually cried. Never mind that Peter Parker is an adult running his own company in the Spider-Man/Deadpool comics, this person had their opinion, and they thought that it was okay to define me based entirely on the fact that I didn’t share it.
So, tl;dr: I don’t care if you feel like you were attacked first. You have no business attacking people based on their opinions about fictional characters. This isn’t like when someone says they don’t support women’s rights, or gays rights, and you know why? Because someone you’ve never met on the internet wanting two comic book characters to kiss doesn’t affect you. We don’t need to debate it, because it literally doesn’t matter. And if you want more representation in media, shouting at people who don’t want that won’t get you what you want, unless that person is responsible for creating the media.
Let’s stop fighting with each other about fandom, because all it does is make us all miserable.

(i just wanna preface this with uhhh i know this is a Very stupid ask but you're one of like three people whose thoughts on ST actually matter to me) i was scrolling through twitter which. i Know is already unwise and i brought this onto myself but i saw a tweet that was like "i love steve but im gonna start villainizing him in rnance fics the way ppl villainize nancy in stddie fics bc i love women more than him" and like. idk if its just My experience but as someone who's read a multitude of steddie fics since july in like 90% of them nancy is written as a perfect badass ultrasmart amazon goddess lol + idk maybe im too sensitive but something abt this being said in the context of rnance when uhhhh. in what world would robin choose nancy over steve just really. idk it made me upset fjskdme i know its not that deep but sometimes i feel like the ppl who get so up in arms abt nancy being constantly mistreated r blowing like. a small part of the fandom out of proportion. anyways i shld delete Twitter and i hope this ask doesn't make your day worse peace and love <3
ur good fkvjdjcjd i'm just sorry you experienced twitter 💔 but yeah i personally haven't rly seen nancy villainized in any stddie fics besides like one or two of those weirdo gross modern aus where the person obviously just hops from fandom to fandom slapping new names on their fetishistic gay fanfic. yknow. i hope that makes sense bc idk how else to describe that category of fic.
anyway nancy's depiction in like almost every single st fic i've ever read has been as a super-smart badass who always knows best so idk what that person's been reading. i feel like people talk ab nancy being hated in fandom a lot but i think i am maybe the most outspoken nancy hater on tumblr and i don't even like Hate her we just have a toxic on and off relationship and my friends keep telling me to end it but i believe that i can fix her

I feel like many bad takes or bad analysis from certain crowds ultimately boil down to people being utterly inattentive and basically wanting to FEEL smart over actually BEING smart.
They like the idea of "show don't tell", but scorn the idea of actually putting in any effort to actually understand what they're being shown, especially if it contradicts what they want to believe.
Media only exists in their eyes to reinforce their own biases instead of challenging what they think, and anything that does so is an affront to their image of themselves.
taps the sign. (<- a tangent but i have very strong opinions regarding “show don’t tell,” to wit that as it is utilized memetically as both advice and criticism it is nonsense.)
i think you are ascribing egotism and small-mindedness to a phenomenon better explained by the simple fact that textual analysis is a difficult skill to learn and one that is, outside of specific disciplines to which it is a core function, very poorly taught. i benefitted a great deal from having an exceptional humanities teacher in high school who made it a priority to teach textual analysis and critical thinking skills above everything else, and it absolutely blew me away to get to college and discover that almost all of my peers—incredibly smart, creative, thoughtful people—wrote analytical essays on par with what i had written in middle school. none of them were stupid or arrogant or lazy [frankly many of them worked a hell of a lot harder on every essay than i did, because they were learning new skills while i practiced things i’d already been doing regularly for four years]; but they hadn’t ever been taught how to parse texts analytically, whereas i had, so there was a huge divide when we entered college which shrank as they built those skills. as with anything some people will find it easier to learn textual analysis than others but nobody is born knowing how to do it and short of studying it in college in some capacity you’re unlikely to be taught more than the bare minimum lies-to-children basics.
there’s also the secondary factor that some people enjoy textual analysis and some really don’t, in the same way that some people enjoy mathematics and others do not; people in the latter category are generally not going to be reading or watching stories they enjoy particularly deeply because that would make the experience an unpleasant chore, and that’s, like, fine? the vast majority of people read and watch things to have fun and certainly in the context of fandom the core motivation is enjoyment. there’s no one right way to enjoy a story. (that said, fandom as a whole does tend to be rather analytically lukewarm because the primary approach to the text is transformative rather than analytical and this, in combination with the tendency for fandom to bring non-analytical and analytical audiences into close contact, can cause some friction. in my experience this friction most often occurs along fault lines between fans whose engagement is driven by emotional connection to or identification with certain characters and fans who engage analytically with character as a narrative tool; i think there is a degree of mutual incomprehensibility between the two camps that tends to spark conflict when the two interact.)
all of this is compounded by—(thwacks the dead horse)—christian hegemony, which is the underlying cultural engine driving things like fandom purity culture and the rigidity of good/bad categorization of characters and implicit expectation that all stories are or should be morality plays, and so forth; this is an issue on both sides of the non-analytical/analytical divide and has less to do with individual arrogance than it does the hegemonic moral framework that underlies US culture generally and online fandom culture by extension because online fandom is extremely americanized. although i do think that this is also, if not THE root cause, then at least a significant factor behind the recent-ish rejection of subtext as ‘real’ (so to speak) and the proliferation of the attitude that a story that fails to overtly and clearly explain itself is poorly written; points at evangelical christianity in particular fostering the mindset that individual questioning and interpretation and extrapolation from scripture is suspect on the grounds that there is a singular right answer that you are told by church leadership, which at minimum does nothing to equip the people who grow up in evangelical churches to handle critical analysis or even more-than-superficial comprehension of any other text.
of course some people are disingenuous and arguing in bad faith—that is the bedrock of hatedom specifically and tends to be driven by a variety of factors of which latent or overt bigotry, bitterness over jossed theories, and strong group identification with the hatedom seem to be the most common—but that’s a really small (if vocal) minority compared to the number of people who either lack analytical skill or don’t enjoy analytical engagement or both but form strong opinions anyway (as people tend to do about things they really like, or really don’t like). i don’t think it’s useful or kind to presume that anyone with a staunchly weird or whacky take is treating a story they like as a vehicle for self-aggrandizement.
