Apparently it's Ben Franklin's fault* that electrons are negative. I can't really blame him, he had to make a random guess which side to call positive and which negative, but I'm still a little mad. It would make physics and chemistry significantly easier for my poor confused brain if he'd guessed the way that made electrons have the positive charge.

in my opinion there is a worst crime than shoplifting, and that is filling a basket with food and then just changing your mind and walking out of the shop without bothering to put any of it back, so some poor minimum wage supermarket worker (me) has to spend hours putting every single thing back on the shelves

#i had TWO people do that and both times just because they found out they weren't allowed to buy alcohol before 10am bc of licensing laws #which yeah is a stupid rule but just to storm out in disgust because of it & leave your basket filled with food at the till! that's so rude #(i'd been serving them as well so they knew i was the one who'd have to deal with it) #and it takes SO long to sort all the food back onto the shelves and find where it all belongs #tbh it really does piss me off more than shoplifting. i mean shoplifting is mostly a victimless crime because the food just gets written of #as waste and you're not allowed to follow the person out of the store or really confront them so there's nothing you can do and you don't #get blamed. but leaving all your shopping so it has to be sorted onto the shelves again is annoying!! #(once again i love that i have tumblr to say this because if i said it anywhere else i would probably immediately be fired)
