Eddie flipped through the magazine, once and then again before he blinked a few times and rubbed his eyes until he saw stars, but none of this did anything to change what was printed on the glossy page before him.
You, walking out of your job and unaware of the camera aimed in your direction.
Eddie’s heart did a little flip at the sight of you. It had been about six years since he last saw you and even the image on the page radiated your beauty.
“Mr. Munson,” Jane spoke again, stress marring her face. “Are you still listening?”
Oh, he had been listening to the shit show that was now his life.
When he walked away from you all those years ago he never expected you to get dragged into the circus of his fame.
Becoming a rockstar had always been his dream, something he had achieved with his best friends at his side. The road had been rocky, he had fallen from grace. He made bad decisions, treated people like shit. He had gotten himself together, mostly, but now karma was catching up to him like the pest she was.
He had pissed someone off. He wasn’t sure who but they had made it a point to spite him.
The magazine had printed a tell all about the three exes of Eddie Munson.
Eddie scoffed at the title.
The Three Exes of Eddie Munson: Their Time to Talk
He would hardly say Rosie was an ex, hard to be that when they were never real at all. It was simply PR a way to promote his album and her movie. Her page showed her on the streets of Italy, clearly a photo shot by the paparazzi as the hid behind a building. She was smiling, laughing at something her costar said.
Her feature talked about her and Eddie’s ‘short and sweet whirlwind romance before it turned sour with partying.’
He did have a habit of partying in those days. He honestly didn’t remember the incident that caused their agreement to end but he knew it was bad.
The second ex was Jennifer. Jennifer was a poorly judged fling that should have never happened. She was a model, polished and proper and he was, well, Eddie.
It didn’t even last a week.
Her photo was her walking down the runway, face trained ahead and staring at the camera that she knew loved her.
Her feature said that Eddie left her broken hearted and ruined, that he made it hard for her to ever trust another man.
Eddie knew that wasn’t exactly how it went down.
The next page was the one that really hurt.
You looked tired, overworked as you walked out of the building.
Eddie traced a finger over your photo. It had been so long since he last saw you. He recognized the building in the photo so that meant you must have stayed in Hawkins when he left you brokenhearted on his trailer steps.
He wondered how they knew about you. Who in their right mind would spill to the world his best kept secret?
There was no juicy printed story under your photo, only speculations about who you were to him.
“Eddie?” His managers voice cut in, ruining his train of thought.
“Fix this. Now.” He snapped, shoving the magazine and his only remaining photo of you into his jacket pocket.

This is a belated post where I wanted to briefly address the outcomes of 2023!
While Ukraine mostly faded from the stage of world's news, unfortunately, the situation didn't get better for my people. Every day Russia kills, maims, and ruins everything it can touch. Every day civilians die from its imprecise missiles, random shootings and artillery, and outright executions. I often see that those living in other countries call this Putin's war, but it really isn't. This is the war sponsored by Putin and his regime, true, but first and foremost, this is the war of Russian people. It's hundreds of thousands of Russian people who arm themselves and go kill our defenders and our civilians. It's Russian people who fire from tanks and other deadly weapons to ruin the Ukrainians' homes, to scorch our land, to leave nothing but destruction instead of cities and villages. It's Russian people who build the missiles, load their bombers, and fly for 5+ hours to direct them at our cities, homes, factories, and even empty fields.
This is me during one of the latest massive attack that took place on January 2. At first, at night, 35+ Russian-Iranian drones bombed us. Then Russian people sent about 100 missiles at us, mainly at my city Kyiv.
Tumblr media
Our air defense system managed to intercept the majority of them, but while it sounds like interception is an entirely positive thing, it might have terrible consequences. Because the parts of the missiles fall down randomly. They can kill any human or creature walking down the street; they can collapse on top of a residential building. There is no escape, no way to feel safe even with the best air defense systems surrounding the city. Here's one of many disastrous results of this attack.
Tumblr media
Dead and injured people and animals. Damaged and lost apartments.
On December 29, another attack killed over 30 people in Kyiv alone. You can see their faces below. They deserve to be seen and remembered.
This is a short story of just two latest attacks that took place just within one week, just in one city. Imagine how many of them me and my people lived through during the entire year? How many more we will have to experience?
Actually, we lived through another one before I finished writing this post. It happened on January 8, and it killed even more civilians.
I know that there are good, sane, compassionate Russians. I have some relatives among them. One of them, my aunt, can't keep herself entirely silent: she's deeply religious, and a few weeks ago, in a church, she risked saying that killing Ukrainians is bad. Another man told her that she's scum and that if she dares to open her mouth again, he will report her to authorities. The headmaster of a school where my aunt teaches was imprisoned for 7 years for refusing to hold a Z-event among students. Living there must be a torture of another kind, where you are surrounded by zombies who openly promote terrorism and bless missiles sent to kill other human beings. The problem is that sane and compassionate Russians are the minority - the vast majority is happy to either kill us or they support those who kill us. Or they simply don't care, trying to claim that everything is complicated when in reality, there is nothing complicated about it at all. Russia is a terrorist state and the world allows its people and its government to keep being monsters.
Seeing the indifference and impotence of seemingly powerful countries makes me increasingly concerned and depressed. At this point, I don't think I'm simply affected by my experiences: the world is rapidly going to hell, with terrorist countries like Russia being allowed to revel in their blood-thirstiness and the other terrorist countries, like North Korea, or potential offenders like China, observing and taking notes. When a criminal sees that no one is punished for a crime, they escalate. More criminals appear. This is what I feel is going to start happening more and more, until half of the planet is plunged into death and destruction. I'll be so very glad to be wrong.
On a personal note, I lost my most beloved pet pigeon Daikiria in 2023. I love her and miss her so much that I still cry whenever I think of her. In turn, I acquired a red nightmare of a rabbit who eats everything, including my feet, and two more pigeons. Taking care of them brings me joy - I only hope that my effort will actually benefit them.
Here's a pigeon that I named Noveria the day I found her, in a video I made for my vet. Attacked by a cat, bleeding all over, with broken ribs and a missing piece of her wing, with no tail:
Here is she now. She is feeling much better, although unfortunately, she got sick because of her weakened immune system.
Tumblr media
My kitties continue to be adorable dorks. Here's me sleeping with my cat Tom after one of the attacks - he's really scared of loud sounds, so he sleeps like a rock afterward, just like me.
Tumblr media
My family stays strong, and I hope we will remain to be so.
Writing stories remains a huge source of relief and distraction to me, and your support, love, and care give me strength even when I feel like I'm about to run out of it.
Thank you to those who support me on Patreon and give me a chance to have a safety net shielding me from some of the horrors and insecurities - thanks to you, I can rest sometimes when I would have to work instead; I can afford some more distractions and to write more as a result. Thank you to those who leave comments, kudos, asks; thank you to my friends who never fail to message me with questions about my well-being. I love and I appreciate you tremendously, and despite all my fears and worries, I hope that we will get to see a better future still.

***
Just two weeks ago, Harry and Mia had been invited to a birthday party.
To be specific, which is very necessary in this situation, they were invited to a kid’s birthday party. Harry had promoted one of his employees to a high position, and as a thank you, the woman had invited Harry and a plus one to her child’s 6th birthday party. Harry had looked down at the invitation wondering if there was a typo. He couldn’t fathom the idea of going to a regular birthday party, much less a kid’s one.
But his employee had insisted. And Harry had hinted that taking him out for lunch or something would be even better in his books, but the women refused to budge. So a few days later, Harry and Mia stood in a venue with drinks in their hands, dodging children left and right.
His arm was slung around her waist. Mia was quiet for some time, a pensive look on her face as she watched the child who was “it” bellow, “CHAAAARGE” before sprinting to tag the other kids. Usually, something like this would make her twitchy, but something about her still figure and soft brown eyes made him ask, “What do you think? Should we get one?”
Mia had blinked at him. “A kid?”
“No, a bouncy house.”
“Oh. Um. Well, I wouldn’t be opposed, but…”
“Mia. Never mind. Yes, a kid.” He sighed deeply and slanted his head towards her, his brows raised. “Thoughts?”
“I mean…” They’d talked about it before. And both of them wanted children. But it seemed like something that would happen after the wedding. But even that was really close – in three short months. “You know I want your kids.”
Harry laughed softly and shook his head. “You always emphasize that they’d be mine as if I’d expect them to be somebody else.”
“Well, you know,” she smiled back, nudging his shoulder with hers. “I have to remind you that they’ll all have your big head.”
“You love my big head.”
“I do.” She took a sip of her drink. “And you? Think we should get on it?”
If it were up to Harry, he would have liked to wait just a year more. He wasn’t in a rush. Though recently he had been enjoying the idea of having a baby to erase, and the feeling was always tainted by terror. “Maybe when my job is a little…”
Mia nodded. “Yeah.”
Harry had been so busy recently. His father’s company had just bought another, right before the end of the fiscal year. They had so much to work on for reports. It was driving him insane and causing him to work overtime. He just needed to get over his hurdle. And then he’d relax. He’d come home on time. He’d have more time to take Mia out rather than force her to attend a birthday with him. This felt like work anyways.
“But I do look forward to it,” he’d insisted, kissing the top of her head. He watched as two kids ran into each other and began sobbing on the floor. “Well. Mostly.”
A week later, Mia had come out of the bathroom at night with a pregnancy test in her hand. Her eyes were wide, hesitant. “I thought it would be funny,” she said, “if it was negative because I missed a period and–”
She handed him the test. “You said you wanted kids a little later… what if we had one in nine months?” She looked at the wall, dazed. “Well. Seven months really, if I’m doing the math correctly. Which I’m probably not. You know what? It doesn’t matter. I think you get the point.”
Harry peered down at the test. It was a very solid positive. He’s silent for a moment. Then – “Holy shit.”
“I know,” Mia whispered, joining him on the bed. “It’s a lot. But we’ve talked about it, right? And we’re getting married and you know it was gonna happen eventually. I mean–”
“Mia.”
“-- I’m just saying that with the amount of sex you and I have, protected or not, it’s totally a miracle that we haven’t gotten pregnant already. And yeah I know we ditched the protection, and birth control doesn’t always work but–”
“Mia.”
“--what I’m trying to explain is that I’m totally okay with this. I might be freaking out a little bit and I might have had a mini panic attack in the bathroom but I really just–”
“Mia.”
She buried her face in her hands. “What?”
“I fucking love you.”
He’d taken her wrists and tugged. When she gave up and let him, he grabbed her face and kissed her so hard, she squeaked in surprise, steadying herself with a hand on his chest. “That,” he murmured through the kisses, “was such a Mia way of telling me. You are unbelievable. I’m never going to get used to you.”
Her eyes had immediately welled with tears. “Yeah? This is all right? We can work with this right? I mean, I’ll likely have to get the dress tailored again but I don’t think I’ll be showing that much in two months.” She leaned in and kissed him again and again until he felt her tears on his own face.
“This is perfect,” he’d whispered, holding her tight until she was gasping for breath. “I fucking– Mia. Mia. You make it so hard when you give me all these gifts.” And then he was grabbing her again, making her straddle him. He kissed her again and again, unwilling to take breaks in between even when his lungs were aching for air.
“You,” he said softly, “are everything. Listen to me. Everything. And we’re going to celebrate tomorrow, okay? Anything you want. All day. Nobody can bother us. How’s that sound, hm?” He kissed her. “I love you. I love you so much I can’t think straight.”
When Mia fell asleep on his chest that night, his mind was racing with ideas on what they could do tomorrow. What could he do that could compare with the things she’s done for him? He held her tight. He was going to be the best damned father anyone had ever met. He couldn’t be anything less than that.
***
The next morning, Harry’s phone begins to ring. And it continues to ring until Mia groans and reaches over him to grab it. She looks down at the caller ID with squinted eyes. It’s as if a bucket filled with ice water has been thrown over her.
“Hey,” she whispers to Harry, pushing his shoulder to wake him. “It’s your father.”
He tucks his head against her neck. “Ignore it.” His voice is raspy.
She lets it ring until it stops. “You already have two missed calls from him. What if something happened? Like the company suddenly went bankrupt overnight? Like something with the stocks. Like the Great Depression? Do you know how bad the Great Depression was?”
“Then I guess I’m unemployed. I’m so sad.” He doesn’t sound sad at all. His arm that’s thrown over her waist tightens and he pulls her back down until she’s against the pillows again. “Go back to sleep.”
“Fine, but don’t blame me when you wake up destitute.” She closes her eyes when Harry’s warm body begins soothing her back into a peaceful state. Her eyes are heavy again. Nothing is more comfortable than Harry’s hold lulling her to sleep.
And then Harry’s phone rings again. It rings and rings until Harry finally raises his head and swears under his breath. He grabs his phone and puts it to his ear. “Hello,” he answers in a very not so kind voice.
“Harry,” Mia hears his father’s voice through the phone. She opens her eyes and glances up at Harry. “Why haven’t you been taking my calls?”
“It’s 5 in the morning on a Sunday,” Harry replies tensely.
“You will be having dinner with your step mother and I tonight.”
He doesn’t even bother asking. He just demands it. Mia watches Harry rub his eyes and sit up, turning away from her onto his side. “I’ve got plans tonight. Maybe another night.”
“No, tonight. I’ll be out of the country next week.”
“I can’t tonight.”
“You may bring Amelia as well.”
Harry pauses. He doesn’t correct him about her name as he always does. “I’d have to ask her.”
“I need to speak to you urgently about a matter regarding the company.”
“We can do this over a video call.”
“Harry, I’m not asking you. I will send you an address and you will show up. With your girlfriend or not, it matters little to me. This is an important conversation we must have.”
“Fiancée, actually. Which I’ve told you,” he says. He takes a breath and pinches the bridge of his nose. Mia knows Harry’s getting angry at his father from the long pauses he keeps taking. She knows he’s trying to calm himself down before he says something completely out of turn. She sits up and rests her head on his back, holding onto his arm.
“It’s okay,” she murmurs, rubbing her hair against him. “We can go.”
He turns his head to look at her, his eyes wide. He pulls the phone away. “I wanted to celebrate with you.”
“We can do it another time.”
“No. This needs to be celebrated immediately.”
She smiles sleepily, raising her head to look at him. “We have, like, seven months to celebrate.”
His jaw tenses as he brings his phone back to his ear. She nods encouragingly and then lays back on her side, tucking herself under the warm sheets. She feels him staring at her a few seconds before she hears his soft voice say to his father, “We will be there.”
“Good,” his father says. “I will send over the details.”
“All right. Bye.”
She hears him turn his ringer off and then set his phone to the side. He gathers her into his arms and holds her close. His lips press to the top of her head. “I’m really sorry, Mia.”
“Don’t be,” she laughs softly. “Nothing we haven’t done before.”
“I know. But still.” His voice is quiet and sad. “I wanted to celebrate.” His hand slides over her stomach. “Take you somewhere nice.”
“I’m sure the restaurant your father picks will be nice.”
“I wanted to take you somewhere nice and alone.”
“We can do that any other day.”
He’s quiet again. “Yeah.” Before she falls asleep, she hears Harry apologizing again, barely audible.
***
Mia walks in on Harry pulling his freshly tied tie off his neck. He mutters a swear and tosses it on the bed and unbuttons the top two buttons of his shirt, pulling his collar open. With a deep breath, he makes eye contact with Mia through the mirror. She’s in a long summer dress and white sneakers, pulling her jacket on. She’s done her hair in loose curls and pinned the front pieces out of her face. She smiles at him, but he doesn’t smile back, clearly lost in his thoughts.
“Hey,” she says, frowning. She takes his hand and walks around to stand in front of him. “It’s okay.”
His eyes are distant. “I want a day off with just you and me. I’ve been working so much, I feel like I’ve barely seen you. And we live together.”
Mia presses his hand to her cheek. She feels his knuckles gently caress her skin upon contact. “I know. But things come up. We can have a day to ourselves next week.” She frowns deeper. “Oh wait. We promised Amara and Zack we’d do a double date.”
At the reminder of the plan, Harry looks pained. “We can just not show up.”
“That would piss him off.”
“Who cares? I’m pissed off right now.”
Mia stands on her tiptoes, wrapping her arms around his neck. A smile takes her face again, and she’s suddenly leaning in to gently kiss the corner of his mouth. “Well, I hope you know that you’re so cute when you’re pissed off.”
“I’m serious.” His voice loses a bit of its agitated tone. He holds her waist.
“As am I. Now come on. Stop brooding and look a little more happy. I’m having your child, after all. You owe me smiles for the next seven months.”
At that reminder, his eyes light up and one dimple appears. Then another. He holds her face and tugs her closer. “You’re absolutely right.”
She grins and then melts into the embrace when Harry kisses her. “I am always right.”
Mia doesn’t know how some people are able to keep the news as a secret until their partner is ready to take it. When she looked down at the positive pregnancy test last night, her first thought was to tell Harry. There was no way she’d be able to keep it to herself.
She lost count of how many times he whispered “thank you” and “I love you”.
Harry was in such a mess, they weren’t actually able to make love like she thought they would. Every time Harry would hold her face to kiss her, he’d tear up again and drop his head, whispering the words again, mixed with a healthy and colorful amount of soft, incredulous swears.
“I was thinking, actually,” he murmurs once he pulls away. He twists a strand of her hair around his finger. “We should go for a vacation. To celebrate, I mean.”
Mia says, “You know I am always ready for a getaway.”
“Mhm.” He kisses her again. “And when we come back, we can start telling people? Is that a thing that you do so early?”
“Well, I don’t have any other children so it’s hard for me to know.”
“Then maybe we wait until the second trimester.”
“Should we do a gender reveal party?”
Harry thinks about it as he kisses her once more. “Dunno. I mean, I would totally be okay with finding out the day off.”
Mia’s eyes light up. “I was thinking that too.” She slides her hands down his shoulders, fixing his collar along the way. “I would be happy with a boy or a girl.”
“Me too.”
“And should we do something like a big reveal for our friends and parents? No wait. I’d actually rather tell my parents in person.”
“Is that where our vacation will be? Staten Island?”
She fakes a shudder. “Don’t even joke about that.”
He kisses her for a final time, a very long kiss that has her pressing herself against him, his hands on her waist, feeling the warmth of her skin. And when he pulls away, Mia laughs softly and wipes his mouth. “Lipstick,” she whispers. Harry cleans up the corner of her mouth with his own thumb. “We should head out soon.”
Harry sighs deeply and nods. “Let’s get this over with, hm?”
“Let’s.”
***
Despite having been with Harry for four years, it still shocks her whenever they go out to a place as fancy as this. Because although Harry and her do go to expensive places, they’re never as high end as the ones his father picks. Harry complains that the super expensive places don’t have edible food, which she has to agree with. Looking at the menu in her hands, she scans it for anything that she even recognizes.
Most of the time, she has to elbow Harry gently and ask him what these dishes are. Unfortunately, Harry is having a discussion with his father about the company, something she usually just tunes out.
At least she’s decided what drink to have. And the post dinner dessert.
Harry jokes with her that she should listen to how the company is run or at least know its primary functions. He says that if he ever got sick, she’d have to step in to run the company for him. Mia’s not all that sure how much of that is the truth. They wouldn’t just give the company to anybody, right? Harry reminds her that his father handed a large part of the company over to him despite Harry not having the experience. Mia argues that that is a classic story of nepotism. Harry argues back that him giving her his job is also nepotism.
You really can’t win with rich people, Mia says, ending the conversation there.
After they’ve ordered (Mia playing it safe by ordering exactly what Harry does), they sit in relative silence until Harry’s father clears his throat and says, “Well, I have news to give you, Harry. In fact, tomorrow morning, we can start on the paperwork.”
Harry says, “Paperwork?”
“Yes. I’m sure you know of all the board meetings we’ve been having over the course of the past two months, and there have been rumors here and there, but I’d like to actually come straight to you to say it. I am stepping down as chief executive officer.”
Harry takes a sip of his water. “Great. Who’s the unlucky fellow that gets to take your place? Is this about voting? I told you having an even number of board executives was a bad idea for this very reason.”
Something flashes over Harry’s father’s face. Surprise, perhaps. “Well, I wouldn’t just hand the position over to just anybody.”
“Right. Do you want me to look over performance reviews and applications?”
“Harry,” Mia says softly.
He glances down at her and then his father. Then his step mother. Realization dawns. “Oh.”
“Yes. I will be passing duties over to you.”
Mia watches the expressions pass over his face. Confusion, surprise, then… something else.
“It was always set in stone that I would pass the company to you, son. I did think I would continue to be CEO for at least another 2 years, but I think it’s an excellent time for me to retire. The company is stable. The revenues have increased every year, our profit margins are better than ever. There are few fires to put out in distinct subsidiaries, but this previous quarter has been exceptional.”
“Right.”
“It is not only because you’re my son. It’s also because of your commitment to the company. You have been strict in hiring and following the companies values. Your negotiating skills have never been more excellent. We gained a new subsidiary that brings in massive amount of profits because of you. The contracts you’ve renewed this year alone are commenable. You’ve put in the work and you deserve this position.”
“Right.”
“We will start the paperwork tomorrow.”
Mia realizes what’s on Harry’s face. Dread.
Because Harry’s never wanted that position. She knows it. Sometimes, he’d reveal to her that it was the only position left for him if he were to excel past his current one, and that he wasn’t sure how he’d react to the news. They all thought it would be a couple more years until this discussion was brought up.
But now it’s here. Harry is reaching for his water again, taking slow slips in thought.
The silence is unnerving. Mia puts on a bright smile and exclaims, “This is wonderful news! Congratulations, Harry!”
His step mother raises her glass in a toast and everyone except Harry clink theirs together. “Congratulations!”
“I understand it’s a shock,” his father says after drinking his wine. “But it is for the best of the company. I leave it in good hands.” He glances up at the waiter. “Thank you.”
As the plates are getting set in front of them, Mia puts her hand on top of Harry’s under the table. She notices that his fingers are cold, so she rubs them softly.
“You know what?” Harry suddenly says when the waiter leaves. He pulls his hand out from under hers abruptly. “I’ve got to get some air. I’ll be right back.” He pushes his chair out. “Excuse me.”
Mia watches him quickly walk out of the restaurant while undoing one more button of his shirt. Normally, she’d be annoyed that she’s been left with the shark of a father he has, but now, concern runs through her. She’s already on the edge of her seat when Harry mutters an apology to the host and exists.
She glances back at his father and step mother. They don’t actually look perturbed.
“I would have thought he’d gotten used to all this,” his step mother says, cutting into her steak carefully. “Does it always take him time to get used to something?”
“Yes,” his father says, chewing already. “He’ll be fine.” He looks at Mia. “How have you been, Amelia? The wedding planning is complete, yes? How’s the job going? You know, my offer at the company still stands. Well, now it’ll have to go through Harry, but I’m sure that the position he can get you would pay far better than the one you currently h–”
“Actually,” Mia says, standing up. She winces at the way her chair screeches against the floor. “I am so sorry. I’m, um, I’m going to check on Harry.”
His father waves his fork in the air. “Go on ahead. Talk some sense into him.”
She offers a nod of some kind and then walks out, trailing after Harry. She also apologies to the host and promises her return.
He hasn’t gone too far. In fact, he’s right out the restaurant, pacing with his hands tucked into his pockets.
“Harry.” She jogs over to him, grabbing his blazer sleeve, stopping him in his step. “Hey. Hi.”
He looks at her with frantic eyes. “I’m not taking that job. I can’t take it. I can’t.”
“Okay. That’s okay.”
He stares at her for a moment before wrapping his arms around her, hugging her tight against his front. His heart is beating fast. “Mia. I don’t– Mia.”
“It’s okay.” She feels him drop his head to her shoulder. He takes a deep, shaky breath.
“I don’t want to be the CEO.”
She rubs his back. “I know.”
“I always thought it would be fine, yeah? Take on a few more responsibilities. But…”
“It’s just not what you want.”
“Is it wrong? I’ve always known, so is it cheating by refusing now? I mean. I know people who would kill for this job. My father probably thinks I’m being ungrateful.”
Mia shakes her head. “Well, you’re not. You’re trying your best, and this just doesn’t interest you. You don’t want it.”
“Maybe 5 years ago it’s what I would have wanted. I wanted to prove that I could be something big. Prove it to my dad. But things are different now. I don’t want to prove anything to anyone. I feel as if I’m different. You and I are different.” He squeezes her.
“I understand,” she whispers. “I know.”
“What difference will it make anyways? We’re more than comfortable right now. I’m miserable at my job and I will be miserable as CEO.”
This is news to her. “I thought you were enjoying it a bit more.”
“No.” His voice is muffled against her dress. “You think I like a job that doesn’t allow me to see you?” He suddenly lifts his head and holds her waist tight. “Mia, this past week alone, I’ve come home so late that you’re already asleep. I don’t want that.” She sees something like fear in his eyes. “I didn’t pay attention to you the first time. And look what that did to our relationship. It was entirely my fault. I can’t do that again. I can’t handle that. I won’t ever show up. But that’s what we agreed on all those years ago, right? That I’d be there?”
“Harry…”
“I’ve been so good at showing up and that’ll all change if I take the job. There’s a reason why my parents never worked out. Why I never had a good relationship with my dad.” His eyes are wide, frantic. “I can’t be my father. I don’t want to be. I would never want to be. I can’t do that to you. I can’t do that to…” He puts a hesitant hand on her stomach. “God, I’d hate myself if I did that.”
“Harry…” Mia surges forward and throws herself at him, hugging him so tight, she feels her own ribs hurting. He holds her just as tight, head against her shoulder once more. “Oh, I love you, you beautiful person. I love you so much.”
“Yeah?” he whispers, turning his head to kiss her cheek. “Is that all right, then? If I say no?”
“I think you should say no, then quit your current job and let me be the income earner for the rest of the year. Won’t be able to pay for the wedding though. You’ll have to chip in. A lot.”
Harry chokes out a laugh. “We’ll honeymoon for the rest of the year.”
“As long as it’s not in Staten Island,” she giggles, planting kisses after kisses on his jaw. “I love you. Got that? I love you always.”
He pulls away slightly to look at her, apprehension in his eyes. “Always? Are you sure? It’s…it’s not easy loving me.”
Harry’s never been the type to ask Mia to remind him she loves him. She knows he knows that she adores him more than anything. But now, he’s asking, and he’s looking so hopeful with his pretty green eyes under the golden lights outside the restaurant. He’s looking all over her face, his gaze often lingering on her mouth.
“Are you kidding me?,” she suddenly laughs. “Harry. You know loving you has never been difficult for me. And not to mention, you’re kinda stuck with me. We’re reproducing after all.”
Harry groans. “Is that how you’re going to break the news to everyone? Hey guys, just wanted to say that my fiancé and I did have unprotected sex—“
“Wait! That’s basically what people say when they’re like oh yeah we’re trying. Like hmm okay, but we know exactly what’s going on no matter how cute you make it sound!”
“And yet it’s still better than we banged and here we are.”
Mia smiles. “But we did bang and here we are indeed.”
“Listen.” He takes her clip out of her hair and fixes her short strands back again. “Tell your friends however you’d like. But my family will be told a very specific, expensive way.”
“Like a party? You don’t like them.”
Harry shrugs. “I don’t seem to oppose the idea of celebrating such a big thing, though. As long as I get to kick people out on time.”
“But with Amara and Zack—“
“I give you full control.”
“Good. I want to make them cry.” She looks very determined. “I want them to be fighting for their life. Choking, even.”
Harry says, “Er, yeah. Whatever you want.”
“Maybe we can tell your father and step mother right now.”
Harry drags the back of his hand against her cheek. “Yeah?”
“I mean, you’re going to have to give a reason why you’re declining. And you can’t just say it’s because you love me so so so so so much.”
“Oh yeah? And why not?” He squishes her face, pulling her close, his voice tender. “Why can’t I refuse on the basis of loving my fiancée so so so so much?”
Her eyes light up. “Because that’s super out of character for you. He might think you’re sick. Although I’d love to see the look on his face.”
“Me too. He might have a heart attack at the idea of his son being happy.”
Mia suddenly frowns. “Don’t say that. That makes me really angry.”
“I know. Hey. We should go and make him angry instead, hm?”
“I like the way you think, Styles.”
He smiles and kisses her quickly. “Come on.” He takes her hand. “Let’s ruin their day.”
They share one more look before they head back inside. When they reach the table, they’re not surprised to see their plates untouched and the others nearly finished. They sit back down.
“Have you finished with your dramatics?” Harry’s father says calmly.
“I will be refusing the promotion.”
Well, shit, Mia thinks. Just getting straight to it then.
His father’s eyes narrow as he slowly puts his fork down. He then takes a sip of his wine. Finally, he clasps his hands on the table. “And why, might I ask?”
“I have other priorities I need to focus on.”
“Something that is more important than your career?”
“Yes.”
“There is nothing more important to a man than his career.” His father shakes his head. “I’m disappointed. I wish you’d have learned this by now. You should take time to think this over. It won’t even be such a big difference.”
Harry says, “I have a different future in mind for myself. Something I think is more worthwhile.”
His father’s eyes narrow some more before they turn on Mia. “And I assume this decision is due to your influence as well.”
“I don’t think I influence Harry to do anything. I like to think I just encourage him.” Mia hates how she doesn’t sound confident in herself. “This is something we both happen to believe in.”
“He would not make this decision if it weren’t for you.”
Mia catches the bitter, criticizing tone, and so does Harry. She can tell by the way he tenses.
“Do not,” he says tightly, “speak to her like that. I am refusing the position and that is my final answer.”
Mia’s surprised when Harry’s getting up to leave. She scrambles to do the same, taking his outstretched hand. “Um. Goodnight,” she says even though Harry’s already dragging her away. The look on his father and step mother’s face is priceless. Mia wishes she could photograph it, blow it up, and put it on a blanket. It would make for an excellent anniversary gift.
Harry’s walking so fast, she needs to jog a little to keep up with him. When they get to the car, he stops and looks up at the sky. He laughs a little, but Mia’s sure he’s not finding anything particularly amusing. “Well, shit.”
“Uh, is he going to come after us?”
“Of course not.”
“Right.” She needs to say something to make him feel better. Anything. Anything ridiculous. “I wished we packed up the food. It looked really good.”
It works. He snorts and unlocks the car, releasing her hand. “Relax. I’ll feed you. Let that be the least of your worries.”
They sit in the car, but Harry doesn’t start it right away. Instead, he holds the steering wheel and takes several more deep breaths. After a moment of silence, Harry puts his head on the wheel.
Mia rubs his back. “It’s okay. It’s going to be okay.”
Harry doesn’t reply for some time. His eyes are shut, his eyebrows furrowed. She continues to rub his back and lean over to kiss his curls.
Finally, his eyes open and he sits back up. He secures his seatbelt and then starts the car. “Okay. Let’s go home. No wait. We have to feed you first. Then we go home.”
“We can place an order for pickup.”
“An excellent idea. Let’s do that.” He gives her a pointed look. “Pick a place and order from it. Without any fuss.”
Mia smiles. “Yes, sir.”
His eyes narrow and he leans in for a kiss. “Good.”
He puts the car in drive.

“Should we buy a baby name book? I saw one the other day that had a thousand in them.” Mia bites down aggressively on her crouton.
“I’m pretty sure we can agree on a name collectively,” Harry answers.
“We don’t ever agree on anything collectively.”
“Touch.”
“This is really good. Are you sure you don’t want to try it?”
He looks at the monstrosity in front of her. A caesar salad but she’s coated it with pickle relish instead, and her pasta is covered with so much cheese and oregano, he can barely see the pasta underneath. She twirls her pasta on her fork and then stabs her relish covered romaine lettuce, shoveling it all into her mouth.
“No, thank you,” he says. “I’m sure it’s…very delicious.”
“Not even my drink?”
She’s having orange Fanta to top it all off. “I’m okay, baby. You know, if we weren’t sure that you were pregnant before, we’re definitely sure now.”
“You’ve gotta remind me that I need to get a doctor’s appointment. I can get it for Friday afternoon if that works for you.”
She says it so casually, it makes him pause, his drink half way to his lips. He puts his glass down. “No. I’ll get leave for it.”
She glances at him. “You don't have to. I mean I’m sure you've got a lot to talk about with your dad and taking off in the middle of the week won’t be so good.”
“It doesn’t matter.” He frowns. “It’s time your schedule stopped depending on mine. You know what? I should start taking three days off a week.”
“You already come home early on Fridays.”
“They can survive another day without me.”
Mia shoves another crouton in her mouth. “You know I love having you in the house. Maybe if you can't get another day off, you can work from home.”
“Yes.” His mind is spinning with possibilities. “That’s a good idea too.”
“I am full of them.”
Harry takes his napkin and leans over the table, gently wiping the corner of her mouth. “You sure are.”
Mia quickly finishes up her food. Harry passes her water to have insead of the Fanta and she drinks it down quickly before getting up and walking over to his side. He spreads his legs when he sees her coming, patting his thigh. She falls into his lap easily.
“Hey,” she whispers, tucking her head against his shoulder. “I’m a little scared.”
His arms are tight around her immediately. “Of my father? Don’t worry about that. I’ll handle it.”
She holds his shirt tightly. “No it’s not that. I know you can deals with him.”
“Then what is it, baby?” He kisses her forehead and runs his fingers through her hair. “Tell me.”
She’s quiet for a moment until she says, “What if I’m not a good parent?”
“Oh, Mia.”
“I mean, I wasn’t even around kids at any point in my life. And I don’t have young siblings. I’m going to have to buy a ton of parenting books. I don’t even know anything. Did you know that you’re not supposed to warm milk up in the microwave for babies?”
Harry gently tugs her chin up so she can look at him. “Mia, between us, I think I should be the most worried about being a bad parent.”
“Harry, I know you’re going to be the best dad, and I’ve never been more confident of anything in my life. But me? I don’t know. I just learned how to start caring for myself, and sometimes it feels like I’m still learning. You’re going to be perfect though.”
He shakes his head. “There’s no such thing as a perfect parent. There’s a big difference between a good parent and a bad one though.” He takes a breath. “We are going to try our best. Right? Isn’t that all we can do?”
“Right,” she whispers, turning her face against his neck, her nose against the column of his throat. “Together.”
“Always. You said it yourself.”
She sniffles. “Are you scared too?”
“Absolutely fucking terrified. But I’m also excited. And also very relieved that it’s you I get to share this with.”
She raises her head. “Me too.” She sits up, blinking her grey, teary eyes at him. “ But I’m also sad. You’re going to be such a hot dad.” Her lip begins to wobble. “And I’m going to have to pry all the women off of you when you drop our baby off at daycare.”
Harry tries very hard not to laugh. It doesn’t seem like the appropriate time. “I will not even give them the time of day.”
“I should get a shirt that says That DILF is Mine!”
“As long as I get a matching one.”
He wipes her tears away, ruining her mascara in the process.
She sniffles some more. “I really wanted to have sex tonight but now I can’t stop crying.” She buries her face in her hands and cries harder. “This is r-really,really bad.”
Harry can’t help laughing then. He clutches her close to his chest and rests his head on hers. “Exactly how I felt yesterday.” He rubs her back as she’d done to him in the car. “It’s been a long day. It’s going to be okay. I know it’s very overwhelming.”
For some time, he lets her cry, thinking of ways to make her feel better. “Hey, I was thinking,” he finally decides, “if it’s a boy, maybe we can name him Axel.”
That gets her to stop crying. She immediately says in an icy voice, “I will divorce you.”
“Well, how about something classic like Bobby.”
She pulls away from him quickly. Her eyes are dark and annoyed, eyelashes still wet. Her nose is red, her cheeks pink. She looks like a vision. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
“No?” he says innocently, wracking his brain for another terrible idea. “How about Clover for a girl?”
“You’re messing with me.”
“Delilah?”
She growls, “What is this – the early 2000s? I’m buying that baby name book tomorrow. You’re terrible at this!”
“I will admit I’m not the best at naming things. I named my cousin’s dog Pikachu.”
“You’re lying.”
He wipes her face gently. “Nope.”
“I will be naming this child.”
“I absolutely refuse to give you that right. Are you angry? Now you won’t have sex with me because you’re mad, right?”
Her eyes narrow. “On the contrary. I want to have sex with you even more now.”
Harry laughs and gathers her close, standing up. Her legs immediately wrap around his waist. “So romantic. Well, since you insist.”
She’s still going on about how terrible his name picking skills are when they arrive in their bedroom and Harry gently puts her in the middle of the bed.
He sighs dramatically, unbuttoning his shirt with one hand as he looms over her. “Well, it seems like I’m really, truly wrong. I guess the only thing I must do now is apologize.”
Mia bites down on her lower lip as Harry drops his shirt on the floor and slides his hands up her legs under her dress. She parts her thighs instinctively and tilts her head back against the ceiling. “Yes. You must.”
He hums, pushing her dress up until she grabs it from him, letting it bunch at her waist. He kisses her hip bone, then her thighs. Slowly, taking his time. He gently bites down on the flesh, growing harder at the sound of her gasp. He presses a feather light kiss to the waistband of her underwear before slowly tugging it down.
“Mia,” he says softly, slotting himself between her legs. “My sweet girl. When did you get so wet?”
She glances down at him. “Um, when you were being super hot and angry at your father in the restaurant.”
“Which was well over an hour ago?”
“Well, I wasn’t going to jump you in the car!”
“I wouldn’t have minded pulling over. Or doing this first.” He emphasizes the word when a careful lick against her. Her hands immediately fly out to grab his curls. “You know I never mind. Now.” He holds her thighs open. “Let me apologize properly.”
His fingers dig into her skin as he slids his tongue over her again. He relaxes into the mattress, encouraged by her strained groans and tight hold on his hair. He knows Mia well. He could do this in his sleep. He knows exactly what types of touches she likes, when she likes it rough, or when she prefers to be teased. He could stay here between her legs for hours, days even, submitting to her in whichever way she pleases. His heart thunders in his chest at the promise of forever. He’ll have her like this, exposed, and he’ll be at her mercy. All that she’s done for him, all that she’s tolerated. How much she’s fixed him. If only he could repay her.
“So good,” she whimpers under him, raising his hips against his mouth to create more friction. He focuses his attention on her clit and then slowly presses two fingers into her, listening to her gasp at the penetration. “I love you. Oh I love you. I love you. I love you-”
All the discomfort he’s felt today is suddenly gone. All he’s aware of is Mia. He’s wrapped up in her. He’s all hers. Hasn’t he always been? He closes his eyes and loses himself in the sounds she’s making, her heavy breathing, and the taste of her on his tongue. He’s never had any issue in losing himself in Mia.
It’s just him and her.
He couldn’t be more happy.

I have no idea what Arkknights is
And at this point im afraid to ask
Girls be called shit like Asbestos, Gravel, Mud and Debris
They eat rocks???
Gatorpeople???
Working in difficult terrain? I dunno
But i know the lesbians go crazy over it
I can clarify this (well, clarify again, I get this question occasionally).
Arknights people aren’t actually named asbestos, gravel, mudrock, cement, rockrock or any of that other stuff. Those are operator code names. A lot of the characters we don’t know their actual names, and since they go by their code names in the game anyway that’s just how people refer to them. All of them choose their code names (except arguably Pudding) so they frequently choose things significant or symbolic of who they are. Asbestos is a fireproof salamander who is a toxic jerk and has cancer so it was a very fitting name. Cement is a construction worker. Rockrock’s name is Rochelle Rockwell. There’s a lot of different reasons but ultimately those aren’t their actual names, but they are effectively their names.
They don’t actually eat rocks. As a gameplay mechanic, characters require resources in order to be promoted and become more powerful in game. However the resources they require for upgrades are kind of strange things like weird metals, cubes of rock, devices, a non alcoholic chemical that apparently gets you effectively drunk if you ingest it, and a bunch of other stuff. Tomimi, the alligator girl who is known for having an extremely fat tail despite her being a fairly short and small person, requires concentrated orirocks that require well over 100 orirock cubes to craft in order for her promotion. So I make dumb jokes that she was eating the cubes and that’s why her tail is fat
Gatorpeople? Yep! Almost all the characters in Arknights are like the type of catgirls that are human but have cat ears and a tail, but for a bunch of different types of animals. There are a few that are anthropomorphic animals and then there’s the people who are demons, vampires, elves (very rare. There’s only one), and characters based on mythical creatures like manticores, nues, all kinds of dragons, etc. there’s also some robots, not robot girls, just robots, they’re mostly rectangular and on wheels. And then there’s weird crossover characters like a stack of the cats from monster hunter, but those aren’t really canon anyway.
I don’t actually know what you’re specifically referencing by the difficult terrain thing but the world of Arknights is full of large scale catastrophes that require most cities to be on enormous moving platforms so they can avoid catastrophes. The world is also full of many hazards. I don’t know what else you might mean so I can’t help more with that
Yes the lesbians go crazy for it. ~80% of the characters are women who are often written to be competent and powerful and actually the focus of the stories. A lot of them are at implied ranging from slight hints to extremely blunt and obvious by their behavior to be lesbians. The story and setting are interesting, the characters have cool designs and interesting personalities and narratives, and a lot of them are gay women, and especially with the kenomimi-style animal girls, it’s not particularly surprising that other people like me get so obsessed with them.
Funnily enough, I think there’s still only 2 “canonical” lesbian operators if you take the extremely blunt stance of ignoring everything that doesn’t outright explicitly involve them professing their love or being in an explicit relationship with a woman. But you’d have to be intentionally obtuse to actually think those are the only ones given how a lot of the women act

singles inferno with enhypen hyung line episode 1 inferno
Tumblr media
masterlist
series synopsis next part
warnings: none really for this part ;) fluff, some flirting
synopsis:
Singles inferno - you have seen first two seasons on netflix and definitely enjoyed watching them but never imagined that you could be part of this show. yet now you were sitting in the helicopter which is supposed to take you inferno. to be fair it all happened very fast. one girls night and under influence your friends convinced you to apply. another day and you actually received positive feedback and was asked for a call. one thing lead to another and now you were here. your participation actually made sense. you didn’t really have time or patience to go on dates. you were mostly focused on work. since your first book was published and sold millions of copies you were constantly working on new stories and promoting yourself in social media. if not a boyfriend at least you’ll gain more popularity by taking part in the show. actually you didn’t really expect to find a partner here, but at least it should be fun to meet new people.
pairings: Heesung x reader, Sunghoon x reader
ep 1 inferno
filming crew helped you with stepping out of the helicopter and you were immediately surrounded with make up artists who powdered your face and brushed your hair. they explained to you that they will film few shots of you coming in and instructed you how to act. all of that was very rushed and made you a bit confused. it all looked much more simple in tv. but at least you didn’t have time to be nervous as you didn’t even have a minute for yourself. as the staff instructed you began to walk to the meeting point where you were going to see other participants for the first time. path was quite rough and you had to walk slowly in your delicate shoes. you didn’t want to sprain your ankle on the first day. you decided to wear a white sundress, nothing too over the top but cute and classy. that was the vibe you wanted to give off at the beginning. you posed for a camera and started to focus on the view in front of you. you were slowly approaching the space where few seats for contestants were arranged. you could make up two figures already sitting there. they slowly became more defined as you approached them. it was a blond girl wearing colorful jumpsuit and tall guy with black hair. they looked like total opposites. hot and cold. the guy was really handsome, prince like looking. when you came close enough you introduced yourself “hello i’m y/n, nice to meet you.” girl welcomed you with a warm smile “hi! i’m Lee Mina”. guy also introduced himself “i’m Park Sunghoon”. you smiled trying not to look awkward and sat in between of them, camera following you. after that camera man shouted “cut, next person coming in 5”. you took time to look around. surroundings looked different than in previous seasons, much more wildness and green spaces in the sites. you were pretty sure it was a different island. they also went for a different vibe with decorations, more rough looking rather than cute and romantic. that was quite surprising. “ugh it’s so hot, they should’ve provided us with some water” Mina started a conversation between you three. you participated in the small talk until they started filming again. this time it was a guy approaching you. he was quite short but very good looking, the type of guy who knows that he’s attractive. he greeted you with a warm smile and sat at the end next to Mina. “nice to meet you, i’m Sim Jaeyun but everyone calls me Jake”. he seemed very friendly, his aura made you smile sincerely. next person was a beautiful girl Soo-ah, you noticed that Sunghoon caught her eye immediately, however she sat down next to you. after her another guy appeared, he was slim and tall, had a pretty smile and a mischievous glint in his eyes. he looked like trouble. “i’m Lee Heesung” he introduced himself and sat down. sudden loud sound made you all jump a little.
“welcome in the inferno singles.” said the recorded voice. you looked around others surprised that there was only six of you, they also looked a bit confused, Jake’s gaze was intrigued, Sunghoon frowned, Heesung’s expression was unreadable. voice proceeded to explain the rules of the singles inferno and at the end invited you to the cafeteria. after all of you stood up to search for that place filming crew stopped you. “before we move on we’ll shoot invidual interviews” director explained. one by one contestants were being interviewed while others could catch a break. sadly conversation between you were not allowed. however you took time to observe the rest of the contestants. except for Sunghoon who was visibly tense and restless everyone seemed pretty relaxed. Jake and Soo-ah disappeared somewhere, Mina was chatting with the stylist and Heesung was currently being interviewed, you heard him laugh loudly. next was your turn. you were seated in front of beautiful sea view when they asked you to share your first impressions. “Sunghoon seems the most interesting and good looking to me but all the guys are very attractive.” you honestly admitted. “girls are very pretty too, competition will be intense for sure.” you continued. “can you give us your strong point in comparison to others?” director asked. “hm i think everyone here has a very strong charming point, i hope that everyone will figure one mine on their own” you smiled gracefully. comparing yourself and listing your best qualities wasn’t really your thing so you hoped this answer will be good enough.
after shooting your individual interviews you could finally chat with others while walking to cafeteria. “there’s only six of us, this is so surprising” Jake started with wide eyes, he looked like a cute puppy. “thats so unexpected, it definitely limits the pairing options” Soo-ah replied first as you were walking down the hill. “are you not satisfied with the options you have?” Sunghoon teased. you could sense the chemistry between them. when sad realization hit you you stopped paying attention and slipped on the loose stone. you felt yourself get closer to the ground ready for a hard landing when strong hands grabbed you by your waist and hoisted you up. you looked up your heart suddenly beating very fast. your eyes met Heesungs dark gaze. “careful Y/N” he said honest care on his face. you blushed involuntarily. he was attractive. “you can hold my arm on the way down” he proposed. you gently wrapped your hand around his bicep. his muscles hard beneath you fingers. he smirked at you. “but since there’s three girls and three boys everyone has a chance to go to paradise” Mina continued the topic. “i already can’t wait to escape this place” Soo-ah said wiping sweat of her forehead. it was incredibly hot in here but you finally reached the cafeteria. you slowly unwrapped your hand from Heesung. “thanks for saving me from the fall” you smiled. “no biggie”.
screams of others interrupted your conversation with Heesung. “all they gave us are carrots and chicken!” Soo-ha dramatically gasped. you looked around and all came to the conclusion that there’s nothing else here. “i guess that’s it. let’s make the best out of it” Mina laughed and started preparing the table. you noticed water dispenser in the corner and started filling the cups for everyone. at some point Jake joined you and helped you distribute the cups. “i’m so thirsty. can’t believe it’s so hot here” he commented. “yeah it’s definitely going to be hard in the daytime. but at least we’ll see everyone sweaty and imperfect” you laughed. when you finished with water everyone was already sat and one place was left next to Mina and opposite of Heesung. you were a bit disappointed that you were so far away from Sunghoon, him sitting in the corner at the other side of the table. you have already interacted with Heesung and Jake, but not with him. you felt a little knot in your stomach twisting at the sight of food and realized that you were actually very hungry. you didn’t have time to eat a proper meal today. you tried to open canned chicken but it was difficult with your long nails and you visibly struggled. “let me help” Heesung chuckled and reached out. he opened the can without any trouble. “you are my designated savior i see” you smiled, he was definitely growing on you. “anything for you madam” he winked. chicken wasn’t the best but you were not complaining. together with carrots it tasted quite okay. “i can’t wait to find out people’s ages and careers” Mina was saying “it’s so weird speaking to everyone not knowing that”. “yeah it’s actually really hard to tell” Jake agreed. “people in their 20s and 30s really do look alike a lot, but there are some small features and mannerisms that can give it away” Soo-ah commented munching on the carrot loudly. you saw Sunghoon smile at her gently. it looked like he was already hers. you decided you shift your attention from him at least for now. “who do you think is the youngest and who is the oldest?” you asked. “i think Heesung might be the youngest” Jake started “he has very youthful vibes. but i won’t say who i think is the oldest because i don’t want to offend anyone” everyone laughed. “it must be a girl then according to you” Mina picked on him and Jake started nervously explaining himself. all of you smiling and laughing. it really felt like you all were getting along well. cameras around you were pretty distracting but you tried to ignore them. “ugh bitter” Heesung frowned after biting his carrot. “here try mine, they are sweet” you offered still having a lot of carrots in your bowl. he took one and gave it a bite. “sweet like you” he smiled. damn he really was shamelessly flirting with you in front of everyone. “duh” you smiled back at him. you finished your food in a friendly chatter, it felt a bit awkward but you felt like everyone is warming up slowly.
“singles, you will now take part in first couple matching” voice startled you all. “what??” Soo-ah screamed. “already?” Jake spoke at the same time. “please look under the table where you will find a ticket to paradise. please write a name of the person you want to go with. after that you will give it to that person. matched couples will immediately go to paradise.” you all exchanged shocked looks, curiously peeking under the table. “yah, this season is crazy!” Sunghoon commented. “how are we supposed to chose so fast” Mina dramatically looked up. “i want to go so bad!” Soo-ah pouted.
“please think for a minute and write the name in a way so others can’t see it” director rushed you gently. you exchanged looks with Heesung as you reached for your tickets. you had a feeling he was going to choose you. you took a peek at other two guys and without further thinking wrote down the name of the person you wanted to go with.
“please tell us who you chose and why” director asked you. they were shooting the shots of everyone in the same time before couple matching. you explained your choice and you were all gathered in the half circle again to give out your tickets.
“first Jake” voice announced. Jake nervously fixed is hair and slowly took two steps towards Mina. she smiled when he handed her the ticket. as you expected Soo-ah chose Sunghoon. “now Heesung” tall boy looked down and slowly walked in front of other girls and stopped looking at you. you grabbed the ticket from him heart beating fastened as you held eye contact with him before he returned to his spot. Mina chose Jake and it was Sunghoons turn. small part of you still hoped he will choose you. however he stopped in front of Soo-ah. you intuition was right. “and finally Y/N.” you didn’t want to stretch it so you confidently made your way to Heesung. his gaze was different now, before it was hopeful - now flirty. you broke the intense eye contact before you could blush. “now all the couples will hold hands and make their way to paradise” voice announced. you watched as others left, first Jake and Mina, then Sunghoon and Soo-ah. after all you decided to chose Heesung as he was extremely attractive as well and you felt the strongest chemistry with him. you were still curious of Sunghoon but your priority was Heesung now. you grabbed his large hand and you slowly made you way towards the helicopter, cameras around you but you did not feel awkward one bit. “are you surprised?” you asked him. “no, i’m glad. it was quite obvious how couple matching will go.” he smirked at you squeezing your hand tighter. “you definitely do not lack confidence” you teased him squeezing his hand in response. “it’s nice that everyone will go to paradise though. but do you think the couples will last?” you asked. “i guess we need to find out sweetheart.”
bonuses
Heesungs first interview
“all girls are okay. Y/N caught my eye the most, i’m intrigued by her and want to get to know her better. i feel like we might look cute together. i would say my strong point is my charm, i’m not worried about other guys, i can get what i want.”
Sunghoons first interview
“Soo-ah seems interested in me, appearance wise she is very much in my type so i want to talk to her. Y/N interests me as well. I’m rather quiet at first but i’m definitely the funniest after i open up.”
Jakes first interview
“Mina caught my attention first, love her clothing and smile. i love positive people. my strongest point hmm i guess i can’t reveal that yet” laughter.
Heesungs second interview
“I chose Y/N as my first impression was further confirmed. she’s cute and sexy, we had many interactions and i’m confident that she’ll chose me as well.”

One day I'll probably do a 40-minute video essay on this topic, but the internet's misinterpretation of "Death of the Author" is just a real shame.
I frequently see the concept brought up in relation to a certain terf author. People attempt to 'separate the work and the author', but that is frankly not how it is intended to be used.
"Death of the Author" is supposed to be a tool for literary analysis. That's all it is. It is not a theory by itself, nor a political stance or a way to judge morality.
It is a tool to encourage readers to interpret the content of a text authentically, but you should use it critically, and be aware of why, how and when it is relevant. It is not an excuse to ignore context or paratext, as both of those should also be considered in a proper analysis.
The tool was developed during a time when the discourse was more favourable towards an author's intention rather than a reader's interpretation. People used intention to dismiss other readers' analysis of texts, using diary entries or letters by dead authors to counter less mainstream takes of canon texts. It was a period where the 'goal' of literary analysis was to uncover a text's true meaning. The original essay was a short controversial counterargument but the conversations it sparked over the following decades have led to the scale tipping more in favour of interpretation. It has also led to a 180 of the original problem.
Killing the author has the potential of empowering readers and encouraging deeper. Maybe even uncovering biases the author wasn't even aware of! However, (mostly outside of academic circles but not always) people are misusing the concept and use it to dismiss context and racist dog-whistles as well as discourage readings that rely more on subtext.
In simple terms we have gone from a mentality saying "AHA, I have evidence and it said you are wrong" to "AHA, it doesn't matter and therefore you are wrong". Neither is constructive in a conversation about art.
If you use the death of the author effectively while acknowledging intention and context you actually add a lot of nuance to your analysis, and doing so can demonstrate your analytical abilities. You will be able to distinguish what the text is saying plainly, what is said between the lines, and if the narrative effectively handles what it originally claimed. It is an effective 1-2 punch. Let me give you an ultra-short example:
On the surface level, '50 Shades of Grey' tells you that it is a sexy BDSM story. Throughout interviews and promotional material, E. L. James frames her story as a female-empowering book. But by critically examining how the books handle themes of consent, privacy, agency etc. we can argue that the narrative doesn't live up to proper BDSM conduct and that the protagonist is not empowered, and is instead displaying an unhealthy relationship. If we take the analysis further we could make an argument about what this says about society at large. Does it normalise boundary-breaking behaviour? Could it make someone romanticise stalking? The thesis statement is all up to you. (disclaimer I have not actually read these books, don't come for me, this is an example)
Here is what we just did: I presented a surface reading of a text. I presented the most likely intention of the author. I then argued for my interpretation by looking at literary themes and context. I used the conflict between Jame's intention, and my interpretation to illustrate a conflict. 1-2 punch. I am not killing James, I consider her opinion and intention to strengthen my argument, but I don't let her word of god determine or dismiss my reading. In just 3 simple sentences I use a variety of resources from my toolbox.
When people weaponise the author's intention it can look like this:
"Well, E. L. James said it is a female power fantasy, you're just reading too much into it" <- dismissing context and subtext by using 'word of god'. Weighing intention above interpretation.
"Does it really matter that E. L. James didn't research BDSM before publishing, can't it just be a sexy book?" <- dismissing context, subtext as well as author intention and accountability. Weighing their own interpretation and subtly killing the author
Simply exclaiming "I believe in death of the author" (which I have heard in Lit classes) means nothing. It's nothing. Except that you want to ignore context and only indulge in the parts of the text that you find enjoyable.
In the plainest way I can put it, the death of the author is supposed to make you say: "the author probably meant A, but the text and the context is saying B, therefore I conclude C". Don't just repeat what the author says. Don't just ignore context. And allow the feelings the text invokes in you to be there and let them be something you reflect on. The details you pick up on will be completely unique to you, the meaning you get will be just your own. You can do all of these things at once, I promise it doesn't have to be one or the other.
There has to be a balance. Intention matters. Interpretation matter. Watch out and pay attention. Are you only claiming the author is dead or alive when it serves your own narrative?
When you want to ignore an author ask why
When you don't want to read a book because you don't condone the actions of the author ask why
Examine how you dismiss arguments and how you further conversations.

I am not a big fan of everything related to Valentine's Day, but I have to admit that I wanted to bring to you a new short supercorp fanfic (a oneshot) with which to give you all as a thank you for the latest support received both in “Interregno” and in “We are august”. Unfortunately, I hadn't time/inspiration to write it, but the latest promotional images of Melissa in “The Girls on The Bus” gave to me a great hype... the hype enough to the level of rescuing an old supercorp fic that I created at the end of 2022 - beginning of 2023 based precisely on the character that Mel (Sadie McCarthy) is going to play and the character that Katie gave life masterfully in “Secrets Bridemaids' Business” (Saskia De Merindol); fic that, due to various personal issues, I didn't have time to start publishing on this years. But I never abandoned the story itself; so I have several fragments written and the skeleton of the structured argument practically complete. What is the good new? Well, as a Valentine's gift, I bring you the preview of this "new-old" fanfic.
Summary:
“Her hands burn every time she touches me; and it is a detail that, in the long run, I may end up loving more than necessary.” Everything has changed since the incident; them too: Saskia or Lena? A business woman linked to the legal profession and mostly focused on her work rather than on her disastrous love life. Sadie or Kara? A girl who has recently arrived in the city looking for any job that will help her achieve some stability in her personal life. Camouflaged identities, unspeakable secrets and a common past that should not come to light for anything in the world. What do you think? Table for two or better another round?
I will definitely translate this fic into english (I promise!) HERE.
I hope you like it and that you look forward to it as much as I do to write it for all of you. Until then, I remind you that you have more supercorp fics available for your reading on my wattpad and AO3: “Interregno” is already finished (with SPANISH & ENGLISH version) and “We are august” will continue to be updated. Thanks for everything.
Happy Valentine's Day for the supercorp fandom!

Chapter six
Toby got home that night, realizing what he had done to his hands on the way home. They were chewed, bloody. Most of the blood was dry, but it wasn't hard to wash off.
Toby found some old pairs of winter gloves, they were black. He cut the tips of the fingers off, pulling them onto his hands to hide his scarred skin. He mostly wore jackets and flannels so the gloves wouldn't stand out as much. He really didn't want to be bandaged up again.
Lyra came opening his door, looking at him wide eyed. "What's up? I had an odd feeling just now."
"Eh? Oh, I'm fine, just- sitting, yep." he shrugged, tugging his hands into the creases of his elbows.
"Wait, Lyra, I have to ask, why was dad so mad yesterday?" he spoke, now thinking about how his head was healing. A white strip of gauze wrapped around his forehead halfway.
Lyra came in and sat down on his bed, hopping a little as she did so, making the bed bounce. "I'm so sorry I forgot to tell you. I quit my job, and well now we don't have much income."
Toby looked down slightly, kinda upset too. "heh..let me guess, dad did-didn't like that because you we-were the only one making money?"
She nodded. "I couldn't handle the drama, I wasn't getting promoted, I was only getting yelled at, work used to be my only escape from the verbal assault but I just didn't feel safe there." Lyra explained. This made Toby wonder, was Lyra skipping school? She never talked about it.
"You're still going to school right?" Toby asked. This earned a guilty side eye from the blonde girl. "Look- don't tell mom and dad okay? It was just too overwhelming and i had to work and- and-"
Toby grabbed her hand with a weak smile. "it's safe w-with me, why would i tell them? I know how dad would react, and mom would nev-never see the end of it." He looked down, a few facial tics leaving him.
"Let's go somewhere." Lyra randomly suggested. "Anywhere, for a drive, walk, even running doesn't sound so bad, I bet I can beat you in a race." She winked childishly. Despite being five years older than Toby, Lyra was a rather playful person. She was just overall chaotic. All she wanted to do was to make her brother laugh, see him smile. He never smiled much, or when he did it was an awkward smirk.
"Nuh uh, i-im way faster than you, believe it." Toby responded, taking on her challenge.
Lyra laughed stupidly and got up, lightning the mood. "Get your shoes on." She left the room quickly.
Toby got up and pulled on his old converses, they were all dirty and worn out from wearing them for so long. Toby followed the girl who disappeared into her room.
Lyra was putting her hair into a loose ponytail. She had bangs that fell perfectly above her eyes, and side tails that were just too short to fit into the ponytail. Her hair was thick and naturally a yellow blonde color. It was rather messy too, a family trait. She pulled on her own pair of plain white converses. Despite being white, they were still in way better shape than Toby's. Her style was pretty casual for their time, baggy jeans, band T-shirts with flannels or other sweaters layered over. They did live in a colder area so thicker and warmer clothes dominated their wardrobe. Plus the family's poor income only allowed them to mostly thrift all of their things, and stick to the same pair of shoes for years.
It's a good thing they never really grow out of old clothes. Both of the siblings being underweight and pretty malnourished. Lyra keeps Toby in check by doing things like they are now, exercising, without knowing it. Lyra and Toby honestly just liked being active. Staying inside all day was a bummer, and so what if it was 50 degrees out, they weren't going to suffice being bored to death all day.
School or work was the only reason they left the house, sometimes it was good to get out.

Public stripping by Momo would be a cool idea for a story if you're able to. Please and thank you!
Teased Promotion
Hirai Momo (ft. you and the crowd)
Length: 1202 words
Tags: stripping, public, public indecency, teasing, flaunting cleavage and breasts, how-to-get-promoted, dominant!Momo
TW: UNEDITED QUICKIE
(A/N: This request was in my ask box since January 25th... sorry for the long wait, but if you're still around to read it, I hope you enjoy this short, teasing piece xD)
Tumblr media
“Guess who asked for a promotion yesterday?”
Your boss has the weirdest entries. He always says a random phrase without greeting you or talking about the topic at hand. However, he is still your boss and most often, a very chill guy. You mostly go along with his antics, especially at such an important company banquet.
“I have no clue to be honest, but it sure wasn’t me.”
“Ha, funny,” he laughs sarcastically, before answering the question himself, “It’s Miss Hirai, Momo, the one on stage right now.”
Of course you know who Momo is. Fierce in her gaze, fully focused on her case, unstoppable, ever since she stepped foot into the giant law firm. When someone meets Momo for the first time, they are allured, stunned even by her beautiful appearance and incredible body. Underneath her glasses are incomprehensible orbs and underneath her tailored suit are enormous breasts.
As a co-worker, you of course meet Momo more than once, so you were shocked to find that the second impression she makes is far different. Behind her mouth-watering facade is a killer, someone who is ready to leap over you, take your position, your job, your life if need be. It’s impossible to get into her pants, she is completely immune to flirting or someone showing off. You assumed she was a lesbian at first, but even the hottest women in your firm get bluntly rejected. It’s all business for her.
Momo loves showing off her money, of course, otherwise she wouldn’t wear gold necklaces and watches all the time, but she seems to love a show of dominance even more. For her to want a promotion is not a surprise at all, so you wonder why your boss felt the need to mention it.
“I know her. I bet everyone does. She probably deserves it.”
“Yeah, but she did not want to negotiate with me. She said that she will make her offer tonight at the banquet when everyone from outside has left. I sent all the staff and sneaky journalists outside ten minutes ago, but she hasn’t done anything yet.”
“Maybe she is getting cold feet,” you joke and reach for a second champagne glass. You give it to your boss and you both wordlessly look up to the stage. Momo just stands there, behind a lectern. The crowd of noisy, tipsy and flirty coworkers quiets down when they hear her through the speakers. Even when she clears her throat it sounds dominant, degrading, demanding.
“Today,” she begins and even the densest person is now completely silent and focused on her, “I walked into the office of our dear boss and I did not want to leave until a deal had been done. However, he challenged me to something—and my God am I ready to accept it.”
You have never heard or seen Momo this passionate before. She was feeling herself, nothing in the entire building could be more interesting than her right now and she knew it. Even your boss mutes his phone and makes it disappear into the pocket of his navy-colored suit. Momo was about to shine, to burst, but no one had a clue how.
“Boss,” she continues, her gaze piercing through the tense air and right next to you, “I have a way to boost the morale of everyone here and make myself indispensable to the firm.”
Momo steps away from the mic. The spotlight follows her onto the empty part of the stage where she is not hiding her legs behind the lectern. The clacking of her heels onto the metal surface is the only sound your ears can pick up. Your eyes, no, everyone’s eyes widen, when Momo grabs the top of her tie and rips it off of her neck.
What the fuck?
Momo straightens herself with a smirk and you instinctively straighten your back in your seat. She effortlessly lets her fingers run down her upper body and twists the first button of her suit, then the second and stops—only for the briefest, tense moment. She pulls open the suit with such ferocity, the buttons fly off. Momo let’s the hang on her shoulders and throws her head backwards to expose her slender, perfectly sculpted neck.
Holy shit.
People shuffle all around you. They jump from their seats, shake their heads or open their suits as well to make sure this is not a dream. It’s unnecessary though, because Momo’s wild eyes sparkle and tell them: this is real. I am real.
She spins around and sways, her hips moving to a song that is not there but that everyone can hear. Her opened suit travels further down, sadly exposing not her skin but a white, thin-striped shirt. Her back is still hidden, only the outline of the backside of her bra visible. Momo knows how to tease, how to make the crowd jump, and she is playing it out perfectly.
The suit falls and the first cheers roar. They wake up for her, those horny coworkers. A male dominated industry for sure, but the women are left speechless as well. No one is safe from Momo. She turns back around, adjusts her glasses with one hand, fiddles at the hem of her dress pants with the other and gradually, painfully slowly bends over.
She is showing her cleavage you imagine, but that god damn shirt is still blocking the view of her voluptuous breasts. Momo winks and sticks her tongue out, not to you, but to you, to anyone who is greedy enough to claim this wink as their own.
Momo makes your head spin when she interrupts the slow, teasing movements to lean her upper body backwards to present her crotch while simultaneously opening the first button of her shirt. You jump as well, barely anyone is still on their seat. Some dare to move closer, some stay behind. You expect her to go faster, but no. Momo is taking it slow and feeling it.
Oh God, this woman!
Both hands are on her tummy; you imagine she is flexing her hidden abs underneath. Then they massage themselves upward to her bosom; you imagine her hard nipples being crazed even through her bra. At last, she finds her neck, touches it for a second and—this time, you don’t have to imagine things—she moves both hands under the next button and pops it free. And the next. And the next. And the next, the one above her black lace bra.
The crowd goes nuts at the first glimpse of what Momo has kept a secret for everyone. Those that asked her out or tried to seduce her probably thought of a private session, their own victory to see the gorgeous, sexy Momo. They were wrong, bluntly. Momo wants all eyes on her.
More, fuck, more!
Somehow, your eyes fall down on your boss for a second. He is the last one still sitting, his suit open, cheeks red hot. He is fanning air to him, while failing to look unimpressed or demanding. He has fallen for Momo’s striptease and jumps the moment she opens her shirt to fully flaunt her tits.
“She’s got you as well.”
“Shut the fuck up.”

WITH I.O.I.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jung Sora was an I.O.I. member from 2016 to 2017, being placed at number two in the survival show Produce 101. She was the maknae, lead dancer, and a vocalist.
Coming from Cre.Ker Entertainment, her first evaluation performance was Becky G’s Shower and she was placed in rank A. Throughout the show, the lowest number she was placed was two and switched between place one and two, constantly ‘battling’ Jeon Somi for number one.
Despite being the youngest on the show, she was well loved by the public who were captivated by her Golden Girl image, dance and vocals.
RELATIONSHIPS WITH I.O.I.
NAYOUNG
SHIP NAME soyoung
One of Sora’s very first older sisters.
Sora was lowkey scared of her and avoid her because of her ‘cold’ image but Nayoung was persistent in letting her know she could rely on her because Sora was just so tiny and alone, she needed someone to look out for her. Which was what Nayoung did.
Nayoung’s always been Sora’s voice of reason, her number one protector. Sora doesn’t think there will ever be another Nayoung for her.
A popular moment between them is Nayoung gently directing Sora on how to do something, many fans talking about how patient and kind she was with her.
As of 2024, Nayoung and Sora aren’t as close as they used to be. They’re at two different points in their lives, and their bond is still there, but they’ve faded away from one another. They still check on one another, congratulate each other’s comebacks, and talk in the group-chat with the I.O.I. members.
CHUNGHA
SHIP NAME chora
If Nayoung is her protector, Chungha is her defender. She’s always on Sora’s side, honestly— her and Nayoung practically raised that girl. Chungha is always there for Sora, and somehow always knows when something is wrong, even miles apart.
Sora was at first intimidated by her, but Chungha wanted to protect her from the world immediately, and like Nayoung, didn’t give up. Their friendship is more like of younger sister teasing older sister and making trouble for her.
Sora would practice her English with Chungha, and Chungha always looked so proud whenever she spoke English. Back then, her English was not as good as it was now.
A popular moment between them is Sora being so excited to see Chungha during Sparkling and Pass the Mic promotions every day.
As of 2024, Sora and Chungha are often in contact and both always make sure to promote each other. Sora often mentions her (as well as the others) in her lives when she’s telling stories.
SEJEONG
SHIP NAME sojeong
Sora was both envious and in awe of Sejeong. She just thought she was the perfect woman. Sejeong really saw her and had to take a double take, thinking she was a really short girl until she saw her face.
Sejeong was determined to help Sora, knowing it must be hard for a young girl like her to be surrounded by everyone older.
These two didn’t get close until they started practicing for Very Very Very, Sejeong just thinking she’s the best thing. Sejeong very much fawns over her all the time. She always feeds into her antics, she can’t help it. She can’t say no.
A popular moment between them is Sejeong pinching Sora’s cheeks in 2016 and again in 2023 when Sejeong promoted Voyage and Top or Cliff during Sora’s emcee time.
As of 2024, like most members, they’re at different points in their lives and aren’t as close as they were. They talk one-on-one sometimes but it’s mostly through the group-chat.
CHAEYEON
SHIP NAME chaera
Sora was actually a fan of DIA before Produce 101, so she was really excited to meet one of her favorite idols. Until she actually met her and was so nervous she just stood there not saying anything while other trainees talked, staring at Chaeyeon when she wasn’t looking. There’s a compilation on YouTube of Sora staring at Chaeyeon during I.O.I. and Produce 101.
Chaeyeon thought she was adorable, but that was pretty much it. She didn’t exactly want to be friends with a thirteen year old. Sora was more than fine with that, though, even if she did want to be her friend at least a little. As the show went on, Chaeyeon grew to really respect her and her desire to debut.
Chaeyeon always cheered her on and would treat her like a younger sister, letting her try out makeup looks on her since that was what she was most interested in at the time besides being an idol. Chaeyeon also gave her lots of girl advice, little hacks here and there. Definitely the cool unnie.
A popular moment of them is Chaeyeon telling Sora during their last concert, “Sora-ah, never change. You’re perfect the way you are, and you’ll only get better from now. Unnie will always cheer you on from afar, okay?” before breaking down in cheers.
As of 2024, they don’t talk very much one-on-one besides for birthdays and achievements. They mostly interact through the group-chat.
PINKY / KYULKYUNG
SHIP NAME sopink
Kyulkyung tried hard to be Sora’s friend, always managing to make her laugh in tough times. It took multiple times for them to actually be friends, though, as Sora was just generally more shy around older people. Kyulkyung knew to never take it offensively as Nayoung told her.
Sora admired her bravery to express herself but was jealous of how easily it came to her. Nayoung was the reason they got as close as they ever did.
Their relationship is more of a teasing one, where Kyulkyung provokes her to get a reaction out of her. She’d always pull Sora into trouble, which in return made a habit of Sora’s for making trouble.
A popular moment is Kyulkyung teasing Sora for a crush in her school she used to have while live.
As of 2024, Kyulkyung is always in China and Sora is always everywhere else. They’re both very busy so they don’t really talk one-on-one but do interact in the group-chat.
SOHYE
SHIP NAME soso
They were both awkward with one another throughout the show, but as time went on, it got way better. Sora thought she was so funny as she was always clumsy, and Sohye thought she was a really good dancer.
They became better friends when Sora offered to help Sohye with the choreo for a song they were paired together with. Sohye was very appreciative, especially after her rank went up after the performance.
Sora didn’t have it in her to speak up against the older trainees when one may have said something bad about her, but she’d always make sure to comfort her and just give her a space to vent.
A popular moment is when Sora defending Sohye when people make jokes about her dancing, saying she’s improved a lot.
As of 2024, they only talk through the group-chat and only wish each other happy birthdays one-on-one.
YEONJUNG
SHIP NAME yeonra
Sora thought she was so fucking cool. She wanted to be her so bad. She inspired her a lot. Yeonjung thought she was the sweetest thing who could do no wrong but was quickly proved wrong when Sora showed her true colors off camera. She thought it was funny and that Sora reminded her of herself.
Yeonjung would always be by her side when the other girls were off doing something else, not even having to say anything, just standing there with her.
Yeonjung is more soft with her than anything, always babying her despite Sora’s insistence she stops. She still teases her, but it’s all in good fun.
A popular moment is Yeonjeong hitting an impressive high note and the camera panning to Sora who looked surprised and awed.
As of 2024, Sora constantly plays WJSN’s songs despite their hiatus and bugs Yeonjung for updates on a comeback while Yeonjung always teases her about ENHYPEN babying her.
YOOJUNG
SHIP NAME yoora
Cat and mouse duo. Yoojung loves to chase for Sora’s affection and to baby her, but Sora lowkey likes the chase. It makes her feel wanted.
Yoojung does everything she can to make Sora laugh, it’s a win in her book. She’d often fight with another member to have Sora sit next to her.
Sora always makes fun of the fact that she’s now taller than her, even if it’s just an inch.
A popular moment is Yoojung and Sora accidentally kissing when Yoojung tries to sneak a kiss on her cheek and Sora turns her head at the exact same time.
As of 2024, they don’t talk every day, but it’s once or twice a week. Sora is a huge Weki Meki fan, and is always willing to listen to her talk about anything. Sora always threatens to b*rn Fantiago down for her.
MINA
SHIP NAME somina
Sora thought Mina was around her age, not a 1999 liner so she was really shocked when she found out. She was so adorable she couldn’t help but think it.
Mina was really easy to get along with, so Sora easily befriended her early in the show. To Mina, Sora was like the little sister she never wanted but loved.
Sora also thinks she’s easy to make fun of, always giggling but comforting Mina when she cried.
A popular moment is when Mina’s departure from being an emcee, Sora was there and gave her a dessert and a hug.
As of 2024, Sora is very supportive of Mina (and everyone else’s!) dramas and always watches them in her free time. They still play games together in their free time, but other than that, everything is mostly in the group-chat.
DOYEON
SHIP NAME soyeon
As of 2024, they mostly talk in the group-chat or always say hi to one another when Yoojung and Sora are calling.
Sora was shaking and blushing so hard when they first met, Doyeon was so concerned. Yes, that did go viral. Sora thought Doyeon was gorgeous, but was also intimidated by it so besides the greeting, she’d turn to talk to another trainee.
Honestly, Doyeon thought Sora disliked her at first and was like “What the hell did I do for this kid to hate me?” So it was really awkward for awhile until while preparing for Whatta Man.
They discovered they had a lot in common. Some things they liked to do with one another was watch movies, specifically horror movies together.
A popular moment is Sora snuggling into Doyeon when it was cold outside and Doyeon held her close in her jacket. One of the main reasons being for their height difference.
As of 2024, Doyeon wouldn’t relent on letting Sora getting too busy for her and so they talk almost as much as Sora and Yoojung do, mostly because they live together.
SOMI
SHIP NAME sorami
Mnet portrayed the two as rivals so well that it affected their friendship. They were friends before the first episode aired, and as time went by with Mnet’s evil editing and pitting them against one another, Sora genuinely began disliking her and vice versa.
It took a heavy toll on their friendship, and as Produce 101 got closer to ending, they both grew very sickened at being pit against each other and just missed their friendship. Sora missed Somi’s weird antics, Somi missed her teasing but sweet nature.
Sora prefers to keep her friendship with Somi more laidback and fun, so she very rarely tells her any harsh problems, but she knows Somi is always there to lend an ear to and vice versa.
A big moment for them is the last episode of Produce 101, they’re waiting for the second place to be called. Sora’s name is called for second place, both girls burst into tears and turn to hug each other at the same time. Both girls just felt so much relief that it was finally over.
As of 2024, Somi is one of Sora’s closest girl friends, and vice versa. These two are constantly seen hanging out and doing TikToks together.
Tumblr media
It was very hard for honestly all of them to disband, but especially Sora. She had nothing to go back to, the people she talked to the most at her company was male trainees that were all three years and more older than her and she was shyer around men. The other female trainees were all older than her or leaving.
Sora doesn’t like being vulnerable in front of other people, but she cried so hard during their last concert despite trying to hold it in. She’s since gotten better. They still talk in their group-chat, and Sora refers to them as her members still, despite being in ENHYPEN as well. They will always be close to her heart as they all helped shaped her into who she was.
Unfortunately, the last time Sora saw the full group altogether in person was as when they were moving out of their dorm. Sora didn’t get to attend the I.O.I. reunion due to conflicting schedules of Drunk-Dazed promotions but did face-time the group. She didn’t even get to go to I.O.I.’s Christmas dinner in 2023.

Marianne's Past
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I went and read the Marianne vi Britannia chapter from Mamoru Iwasa's "Knights of the Round" short story anthology that was released as a bonus volume to his Code Geass R2 novel series.
Tumblr media
I am 80% sure that this image that is often seen floating around online was made to promote this specific short story (or maybe accompany a serialized release?), but the illustration itself is not included in the tankobon release.
I'll provide summary of the short here here, but please be aware I am reading with machine TL and there may be errors even despite the best of my double-checking. If you want these details for, idk, academic reasons please go to the source text first!
Anyway this story rules, here it is. Italics mark direct quotes.
We start off strong with Charles thinking "I had no reservations about wasting my own life." Standing in the middle of a battlefield, he laments that Britannia is a dying country structured around a bloodthirsty elite. No dreams, no hope.
"Born into such a world, why would you desperately try and such a small thing as your own life?" he thinks, but then Marianne's voice cuts through to him. Marianne waltzes into the room where Charles stands surrounded by soldiers pointing guns at him. Injured, in her bloodstained white uniform, she fights her way through to him with unbelievable competence and elegance. She beheads all the men as the narration describes the beautiful glisten of her sword and the flow of her hair.
Marianne, the Knight of Six at this point, sheathes her sword and bends the knee before Charles, in the middle of corpses and with both of them splattered over and over in blood.
"I sincerely apologize for any trouble I've caused you by being late," she says.
Marianne tells Charles to evacuate, but he remains stoic and only looks at her arm, which is rendered unmoving by her injury.
"That wound. You've killed, Knight of Six. You've killed the Empire's most powerful knight, the Knight of One."
Only he would have been able to hurt her this badly, Charles reasons.
The Knight of One turns out to be the person who staged this rebellion in the first place and Marianne did indeed kill him before coming to find Charles.
We learn that Charles' reign is being questioned by conservatives because he was such a distant candidate for the throne originally and ascended mostly due to the past emperor's insistence.
"There is external trouble, and the internal anxieties are becoming more and more serious. This a country on the verge of ruin. Don't you agree? Knight of Six," says Charles who is feeling talkative.
Marianne disagrees. After all, she's here and so is Waldstein, still Knight of Five at that time. They won't let it come to that.
"Then, will you come to my side, Marianne?" It's the first time he's ever called her by name and not title and she blushes.
(Here we briefly learn Marianne had a normal military career before being promoted to the Knights of the Round.)
Before she can ask what he means, Marianne realizes the truth for herself and blushes harder. Through a whirlwind of emotion she finds unwavering determination within herself.
"I humbly accept your offer."
He looks at her with eyes that seem almost sad.
"You might regret it."
The narration suggests he may be trying to make sure she knows he isn't going to force her.
Marianne denies the possibility. She won't come to regret this, because as long as she's by his side she will prevent all causes for regret from occurring.
"So you're saying your own happiness depends solely on yourself." Charles finally smiles faintly. "You're bragging, Marianne. Show humility."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Amidst the smell of gunpowder and blood, a man's hand was slowly held out. The girl's hand rested on top of his, a little awkwardly, but with a certain intent.
We then learn that this rebellion, the Blood Crest Incident, took place May 6th 1997 so a bit less than three years before Lelouch is born. Most of the Knights of Rounds were murdered in it or executed for being complicit.
The narration spends some time discussing whether Charles should be seen as a good or bad ruler, coming out conflicted.
Arguments for being a good ruler: Britannia was on the verge of collapsing and being divided between the other two super-powers before Charles revived it. Arguments for being a bad ruler: ... well, about that bloody conquest though.
Fun side details: leader of Charles' political opponents was his uncle the Archduke Louis. Anyway, we skip forward 5 years, and the civil war and unrest has now ended.
Marianne is the 5th Empress. We are treated to her in the Aries villa garden, sparring with three young teen girls from the military academy: Cornelia, Beatrice and Nonette.
None of the girls stand a chance and Marianne harshly critiques their swordplay, but she ends with saying they're getting better and she's looking forward to the next vacation. She winks at them.
We briefly learn that Cornelia's mom comes from a pretty traditional family and wanted her to be more of a palace lady but Cornelia's own wish was to enter the military. Whenever she has time off from school she comes to the Aries villa to let Marianne train her.
As Marianne talks to the girls about their training later, a small kid looks out from under her skirt.
Tumblr media
Barely 3year old Lelouch enters the scene! He's entered a shy phase and has to be coaxed to say hi to Cornelia. (But he does do a proper bow and greets her as 'elder sister'!)
Cornelia mentions that Lelouch's shy phase is the total opposite of Euphy who is currently following everyone around 24/7 and being SUPER social no matter the person.
Then, Bismarck comes in. He is holding a crying baby Nunnally and is locked in a vicious circle of trying to get her to stop crying by smiling but having a smile that is too scary to comfort the poor baby. Cornelia laughs at the Knight of One in such a predicament.
Of course, Marianne was the one who forced him to hold the baby despite all his protest that he, who's not even married, would be shit at it. She appears remorseless.
Marianne says she was trying to teach him the stress of a mother who has some maternity nerves due to taking care of two kids, and he's just like. Ma'am the nannies take care of your kids, there is no way you are that exhausted. (He does not say this out loud.)
Beatrice, who has many younger siblings, saves Bismarck and calms down baby Nunnally. Nonette, who likes throwing babies in the air, is banned from approaching the bappy.
Marianne tells the girls to watch the kids for a bit and walks off to talk with Bismarck about serious matters. There's a cute paragraph about the girls helping Lelouch do his first tumble roll and him being really happy about it.
Bismarck muses that not too long ago it would have been unthinkable for there to be the laughter of children in the palace. Marianne teases him that continuing to ensure this is possible is why he's here, isn't he?
Bismarck is Knight of One and also the ONLY Knight of Rounds at this moment. Marianne left the Knights after becoming Empress and the others all died due to the Blood Crest Incident. No new ones have been appointed since.
Bismarck tells Marianne that he thinks she is more suitable to be Knight of One than him.
Marianne doesn't entertain the thought. Bismarck wants more Knights appointed but Marianne says that Charles was ambivalent to the suggestion, being not really concerned about his own safety. Also there are no promising candidates right now.
Anyway, the main reason Bismarck dropped by is because the current Chinese Emperor passed away. This unrest and uncertainty has Charles setting his sides on border expansion and conquering more territory.
Marianne grows pensive. Is Charles good or evil? She's wondered often. We launch into a flashback:
Tumblr media
“Your Majesty--do you aspire to be a conqueror?”
Marianne asked him one day, and Charles, laughed happily, which was unusual.
"Hmm...Is that what you see, Marianne?"
"Yes. At least in my eyes."
"Conqueror, huh? If that's what you want, that's not bad either," Charles muttered, an even more amused smile appearing on his handsome face.
When Marianne heard this, her expression turned grim.
“If you are serious about such things, I will refuse to touch His Majesty from now on. Please do not enter my sleeping quarters again. I will immediately decapitate myself.
"I thought you'd say that. But, Marianne, there's one thing you forgot to mention. In that case, you would only kill yourself after beheading this emperor, right? ”
......
"Is it untrue………?"
"Mhm."
"You are a person who never compromises on yourself. Just like me. Therefore, your wings are something that even this emperor cannot control, and the way you flap your wings nobly captures his heart." Marianne couldn't help but smile crookedly as the truth was whispered to her from an unexpected source. Seeing this, Charles also laughed.
"Marianne. My desire is not to conquer the world. It is to strip away the lies of the world. In the process, I hope for the world. I will rid the world of lies. That is my oath. ...But let me promise you this, Marianne. The inside of your heart that you never show to others. That emptiness that cannot be wiped away. Even that, I will make up for it.”
Marianne's expression returned to normal and she fell silent.
Then she said, "If His Majesty truly thinks so, I will create a 'vessel' for His Majesty. His oath, the power to approach it. The path - an army strong enough to conquer the world."
The emperor laughed loudly this time.
"That means you're joining forces with the worst sinner in history, Marianne. Your children and grandchildren will continue to be accused of being witches who assisted the most evil king in the world."
Marianne smiled too.
"Of course, I am prepared. Your Majesty does remember what I am called, right?"
"The Flash. It sounds good, but a flashing light burns people's eyes out. Moreover, your light is by no means the halo of a saint..."
"A bloody hero's death. I have never wielded a sword for anyone other than myself.
"Even when you protected me... that's why I wanted you. Would you like to see the world together, Marianne?''
“Even if it costs me my life.”
Since then she knew.
This person was planning to spread his wings even bigger someday.
Britannia, a continental country. However, this person cannot fit into such a small container. He has to involve many countries and puts the world under its control. Even if he was called a tyrant, or the king of Hades with the sickle of death. Moreover, his motivation was never ambition. Nor was it vigor. Instead it was because of the tears of blood that this person shed when he was young. To fulfill the vow he made. In that case, what she can do after deciding to walk with this person is--
With this cut-off phrase we go back to the present.
In the evening of her meeting with Bismarck, Marianne calls the three girls to meet her. She appears wearing her old Knights of Round uniform and tells them she won't be able to accompany them in their training for a while, so they should use this opportunity to come at her like they mean it because she also won't hold back. For the first time in their sparring, she is dual wielding which was her preferred mode of combat during her active days.
We skip the combat and go right to Marianne coming back out to talk to Bismarck. He remarks that this was quick. The girls stood no chance, though Beatrice held out slightly longer than the others. Marianne asserts that a Knight of the Emperor needs no naivety or kindness so she tried to knock that out of the girls here. She expects they will be changing bit by bit from here on out. Marianne and Bismarck begin to leave for the capital.
Marianne: "Then let's go, Bismarck. To help the king commit the worst crime in history."
Bismarck: "And so it's the return of the empress general."
As they are about to leave a nanny and a crying baby Lelouch stop them. Lelouch had a scary dream during nap time and needed to see his mommy. He had a dream his mother was going very far away.
Marianne tells Lelouch that she isn't going anywhere. But her eyes are cold, as if she was looking at a wooden dummy. Bismarck has seen this expression on her many times before - it's the face she makes before cutting somebody down on the battlefield.
Tumblr media
Bismarck is so used to this expression signifying killing intent that his body almost intuitively moves to protect Lelouch - but Marianne just hugs him.
"Lelouch and Nunnally are mother's treasures. I will always be with them and protect them. Forever and ever."
In her heart, Marianne adds: 'However, this is only true so long as you do not stand in the way of he and I.' She suddenly finds baby Nunnally staring at her - she smiles, and Nunnally suddenly trembles as if frightened.
All she can do is stare at her mother's smiling face.
Six months later the Britannian Empire starts its massive expansion campaign, with Marianne The Flash serving as Charles' greatest support.

Harley Quinn's insane popularity during the mid-2010s is a super interesting phenomenon precisely because her abrupt rise in popularity was less about her unique appeal as an individual character and more about everything else DC Comics was doing at the time
Harley's New 52 aesthetic revamp from her classic harlequin costume to a corset, booty shorts, and two-toned hair happened entirely because people loved her look in the Arkham games and DC was trying to capitalize on it. Also almost entirely on the basis of her popularity in those games (and because the company was in desperate need of positive PR after mass criticism about their treatment of female characters in the early New 52, including Harley), editorial greenlit a solo book for her.
Her 2014 solo book outsold most of DC's line partially because of the character, story, and the creative team of course; there's no way it could have been that successful without people liking those things. But its success was massively helped by Harley being one of the few characters who (outside of Glass's Suicide Squad run, which was promptly yeeted into oblivion and never mentioned again) wasn't completely fucked over by the reboot and whose book DC editorial largely left alone during the notoriously micromanaged New 52 era.
She also had one of the few decent "fun" books at a time when DC's offerings were mostly either grimdark and edgy, disliked, or doing something radically different with their protagonists than normal (for example...Lobdell's Teen Titans and Red Hood and the Outlaws, making Supergirl a Red Lantern, and having Dick Grayson fake his death and go undercover as a super spy), making Harley Quinn a breath of fresh air for anyone seeking to escape the melodrama of Forever Evil, Future's End, and Convergence or find a new book after the ones they were reading ended or became unpalatable.
Over in the DCEU, people had two lukewarm movies they weren't really that excited about despite starring DC's Trinity. And then you got Suicide Squad, which was kinda hot garbage and a critical failure but made bank and had the wonderful Margot Robbie playing Harley Quinn. No one else really made it out of that movie looking good, but Margot's depiction of Harley was widely praised and her look in that movie became wildly popular, selling tons of merch. So DC went "oh she's a seller!" and then greenlit the Harley Quinn cartoon and Birds of Prey 2020 while generally refusing to acknowledge that the lack of decent DCEU movies overall, Robbie's performance compared to her co-stars, and Harley's grunge Hot Girl look were the main drivers of Harley's seemingly unique popularity following the movie's release.
Basically: Harley got incredibly lucky because she got a major internal editorial push as a character at the exact same time basically every other character whose comics would have normally outsold hers got fucked over, and then got lucky twice when DC cast Margot Robbie to play her in Suicide Squad while the movie's Hot Topic Aesthetic™ was still somewhat en vogue.
Combine those two things with the fact that her relationship with Poison Ivy (an A-list Batman Rogue) was confirmed at the same time same-sex marriage was legalized and DC was looking to promote a diverse character slate...and you get the wild popularity she's enjoyed since ~2012 that nonetheless is obviously starting to slowly return back to base levels. Which you can tell when you look at, for example, Harley's sales numbers post-Rebirth/Infinite Frontier (since facing actual competition from DC's staple characters) and the number of new Harley-led projects that have been greenlit since the 2020 management massacre that took out Didio.
At the end of the day, The Harley Phenomenon is less about Harley Quinn and more about what happens when a company capitalizes on a character's aesthetic appeal and Cool Girl Status while largely abandoning the goal of making quality content starring the rest of their staple characters. She's certainly popular on her own and has individual appeal, but she never would have achieved the level of mainstream popularity she's enjoyed over the past 10 years without an astounding set of major coincidences all falling in her direction.

Have u seen the news of Henry Cavill being fired from The Witcher for misogynistic behavior on set? It was released in a podcast today.
Tumblr media
Sure, Jan, sure they're not using his popularity, especially at the moment, to make sure people listen to their sad podcast.
"He would try to overrule her and try to get changes made last minute across the board without her knowledge, which, if you know anything about showrunning, is completely fucked. The showrunner has to sign off on every minuscule detail down to the buttons on a costume. Female writers and directors were suddenly being completely ignored on set, unable to do their jobs."
Do they mean changing things like the line after Roach's death because he thought it was tasteless that there was a joke written instead?
Or maybe they're complaining about the fact that Henry's part in the series is more of a side character instead of the main character but, they have no problem using him to promote the show because they know he's the reason why people watch even, even more in season 3.
Or maybe he was a mean, mean man and complained about the decision to create a new complete original villain for season 2?
I can picture it:
Henry: Lauren, are you sure you want to create a new villain for the story?
Lauren: *in shock* Are you questioning my decision and capacity to create? Do you think you're better than me?
The Witcher books started with the short stories collections and, both books were Geralt centred. Yet, however, the show from the beginning has been 35 % Yen 35% Geralt 30% Ciri for S1 and 45% Yennefer 35% Ciri 20% Geralt for S2, yet S2 promo was mostly about Henry as the face of the show. I'm starting to believe he was cast only to be on the posters and premieres.

hi mara,
i was wondering what your favorite books are, anything you've derived inspiration from. or any books you'd recommend to others!
take care
hi anonymous, good morning;
soft promotion but i usually write a little about what i:m currently reading in my end-of-month internet-sin paywall posts on substack -- but i:d also probably just tell you if asked;
any-ways, when i was really young i:d try to read a book-a-day both because 1) i had absolutely nothing to do 2) i thought that by reading as many classic/erudite texts as i could, that i:d become super smart; but i burnt out on reading because of these two things! and because of being burnt out, i have a huuuuuuuge amount of gratitude to the book version of "howl:s moving castle," because i think i picked it up on a whim (before the movie was out, even, i think), and read it, and it just made me fall in love with reading -- and the idea of reading for pleasure, instead of trying to make myself smart and cultured. was just so enamored with that book; read it through every period in HS and in that huge dullness i:d have afterschool (i slept out in a car from 2~7 typically; no friends and no where to go)--just couldn:t put it down, felt so real. zero idea if it holds up, and i refuse to re-read it, but i /loved/ that book and it:s always what comes to mind when someone asks me my favorite book (side-note: i thought the movie was trash; i don:t like ghibli stuff though).
inspirational stuff, though, i:ll use more recent examples! (mostly because it:s easier to remember this stuff); i really adore flannery o'connor and her short-story "the lame shall enter first" largely helped me deal with some of my obsessiveness at adhering to my behavioral etiquette 'perfectly' -- there are these two characters: an older atheist who is doing his very best to behave perfectly and empathetically and understandingly; & a crippled thieving rude christian boy that has fallen into the care of the prior character; any-who, the christian boy admits he has not been saved and that his soul belongs to satan, and tells the adult that he won:t bother being saved till he is ready to live whole-heartedly clean -- and that there is no point in attempting to act perfect (as the adult were trying) as no-one is perfect except christ; the story illustrates the lesson better, but it just made me loosen up on some of my behavioral rules and etiquette in regards to bacterial will and religious law. plus, flannery is a /beautiful/ writer.
then more briefly, i:d toss in cormac and shirley jackson -- cormac:s "outer dark" just really impressed me with how excellent he describes environments and just how /real/ he wrote "the three figures" towards the later half of that story, i love the outer dark so much; shirley jackson, too, just this month i read "we have always lived in the castle" and the maturity of her writers voice just struck me with how concisely bitter it were, and i just thought: wow, this is like the prototypical femcel hiki blueprint, and wow: this story is like the deconstructed magical girl genre before it ever existed, and as it could only exist in the mind of a shut-in agoraphobic american woman in her sixties (i think she was that old at the time of writing, i forget). i:m reading "the secret history" atm and also really loving that, because donna tartt is ace at pacing a story & capturing the feeling of "being left at a dorm for winter alone," and just scene/moments in general -- just super enjoying it :-)). then for more religious stuff that:d make people groan: i like LRH, and mary eddy baker, and ellen g white, and like reading all of them, and usually am left with a sparkling feeling after reading any.
Tumblr media
and that:s it! i don:t want to name too many books because it:d water stuff down in meaning. take care, anonymous :-))

I doubt people would want to keep up with it but Godbreaker is both a specific story I'm working on, and the name I group anything related to it under, including alternate universes.
So basically there's Godbreaker the story, which is a high-fantasy story mostly about found family and what faith means, both religious and otherwise. It features Shay, who is in her early 20s and has long hair (for most of the story).
Then there's the many alt universes. There's modern, which is just Shay from Godbreaker but if she was in the modern world (she's a barely employed MMA fighter). There's Shayaa, which is "if Shay hadn't been abandoned as a child" as an AU. Then there's modern Shayaa, which is "if Shayaa was in the modern day" (she's a former corporate heiress turned streamer). Then there's one where Shay wasn't abandoned but she's actually kind of evil. And then she's also in my Pathfinder campaign, so there's that version of her as well.
Generally, Prime Shay dresses in a blue robe, gi, thing, and has long hair. Shayaa has shorter hair, cropped on the sides, and is generally thicc compared to Shay. Evil Shay is called Crusher and dresses like a 1940s gangster. Modern Shay has long hair but dresses in heavily branded clothing from her fight promoter. Modern Shayaa has short hair but dresses in whatever is trendy (or is straight up naked sometimes, because you gotta please the fans). Pathfinder Shay is an oddball and is usually dressed more like a western cowboy, but with a sword.
I am a fan of my own work and make AUs because I love drawing my dragon baby.

hmmm is there any specific analysis of tvl youve been dying to share but havent been asked about yet?
ok. there’s a lot. but some I don’t want to do right now for SPOILERY REASONS. some of them are as follows:
- the fundamental misunderstanding that passively occurred between tvl ladynoir for most of tvl
- the way tvl chat noir ‘tests’ ladybug throughout the story and why he does what he does and why he behaves in seemingly ‘bizarre’ ways
- a lot of the others r um. I can’t even share the topic regarding it bc you guys haven’t gotten to whatever chapter it’s linked to yet (feel free to ask any questions tho! be it now or after future chapters. that’s usually what awakens the intense TED talks I give about tvl to myself in my head)
right now tho? I want to pick apart tvl adrien being an actor and why that is and why that’s sad and how it came to be
-> like with many parts of tvl! adrien being an actor is sort of thrust upon readers. it’s a story that places a Huge gap between canon and the tvl timeline, and some details can be inferred, but loads of stuff aren’t things a reader can know for sure
-> also, due to the set up of the story, most of the tiny teased bits of info regarding tvl Adrien’s life leading up to and At 23, is largely fed to readers by tvl marinette, and not tvl adrichat himself, despite most of the story being his pov. but the scenes he is allotted are largely those where he Interacts with ladybug, and when he is with her, he doesn’t think of much else, unless it’s specifically relevant (like the love marks conundrum)
-> he just doesn’t unpack his past in his thoughts very much. however much it pains him. because it’s not something he’d prefer to unpack is how ladybug is making him feel and how he feels about her bc she’s Right There and she has this Hold on his heart that he can’t help but fixate over
-> but what you can tell is that he doesn’t really want to be doing his job… rather he sees it as a means to an end. and also an inevitability in a sense 😔 very. You Can Take The Man Outta The City Not The City Out The Man core. it’s. the ones who abuse us can leave but the effects of that abuse aren’t as easy to shake. it’s also. sometimes we wind up doing what we ran away from but we pat ourselves on the back saying it’s different bc we chose it, or it’s not the same because we wound up in a hole two steps away from what we were originally doing and that’s a different hole so it’s okay maybe!. its. was this too hard to break away from? or was it just too easy to go back to because its all we were ever taught?
-> because imagine ur tvl adrien in uni and your friends have always had passions for things that are vaguely related to industries that you suffered in as a kid. your best friend wants to be a dj but he also loves directing and talks so passionately about his favorite films and DREAMS of making One Of The Greats one day. his gf who is also one of your best friends is into journalism and your ex gf who is also one of your best friends loves designing and fashion. and you used to be a model but don’t want to be a model anymore. u make some small movies to help your best friend with his projects for film classes. they’re so fun! you love how it brings you and your friends together. your ex who you never really got over helps make costumes, shyly puts makeup on you, your best friend’s gf promotes it on her massively successful blog. the public mostly cares about it because you were in it and you’re the kind of famous that doesn’t ever go away. you WISH it would go away. but then you try to see the bright side of it. your best friend is so happy people like his short film. he gets an A for the class. you accidentally get another friend even MORE heavily considered for the job she’s been talking about non stop all week because you mentioned knowing her. you get pressured into doing a film because they say they’ll give your best friend an important role on the crew. little by little it all builds up and this is just your career now
-> but you find little ways to take control. you realize you get to decide who works with you and for you and you see your Good Best Friend Ex who just started complaining about how little the internship she’s doing pays. you think you could take away her pain so easily. and it makes it all less painful for you. it’s such an even trade. but then your Partner Against Magic Crime starts taking up more of your time and you realize you WANT all the time that you can get, and having Something To Do In The Day becomes an absolute chore again, and maybe you don’t care how happy it could make the public and how Excited your fans will be
-> this manifests in all the little asides you see in tvl where he Suggests quitting his job all the time and Thinks about it a lot
-> At the same time. who doesn’t wanna quit their job. he’s just a little guy. surely he’s worked enough for several lifetimes
